The bagels here are incredible. I'm especially sucker for the Lox but you can't go wrong with anything on their year-round or seasonal menus. Turkey & Bacon Panini ($10.99, 4.5/5) - The focaccia bread was delicious! The overall taste of the panini was also very satisfying. A tad on the saltier end, but all the ingredients work together nicely! Mary Street Waffle ($7.99, 5/5) - Waffle was great as always - crispy on the outside and warm & fluffy on the inside. The first time I ordered the waffle, it didn't have all the ingredients but second time's the charm. Cute place be very, very nice. A good of gf accommodations including gf breakfast bowls. Fresh avocado , tomato and spinach in the Red River Bowl. Oh my gosh can you say YUM! This little hole in the wall place was a random pick after going to the urgent care next door and boy am I glad I stopped by. I got the BAT bagel sandwich and my goodness that thing was SO GOOD. I had to pull over in a random parking lot on my way home so I could demolish half the bagel lol. It was so yummy! I got the build your own waffle as well with chocolate chips and it was delish as well! I already want to go back and get more hehe. We walked in at 11:45am on a Wednesday and there were open tables! They have like maybe five tables and bar seating so you never know coming around noon. Plus UT Austin wasn't having classes yet so that might be why we were lucky. We ordered off the menu and our food came in about ten minutes. My BAT bagel was delicious. You can't go wrong with egg, bacon, avocado and cheese! I picked the jalapeño cheddar bagel and it was toasted perfectly and it hit the spot. There were other bagels to choose from. The bagel sandwich also came with a very small pile of chips which I wasn't expecting but nice. Then we shared the blueberry cream cheese waffle and it was a perfect blend of blueberry, granola and waffle crisp! I highly recommend sharing dessert. Last but not least, I had a hot chai with oat milk which warned me up that chilly day. I get my nails done in this area and have walked by Mary's Cafe for the past few years. I finally stopped in, and I'm glad I did! The vibes are kind of like a classic NY-style bagel place, in the sense that there is some seating inside, but seems like more of a take-away spot. You order at the counter, and then wait a few minutes as your food is prepared. Everything was fresh and tasty! However, it is not something I see myself craving and going out of my way to get. I think the location is very central. I ordered a bagel, a green grilled cheese and a brownie. The bagel was very average but the grilled cheese was very good albeit a bit oily from all the pesto. On our way out of Austin the hubby and I were looking for a place to grab breakfast and this place came up with really high marks on Yelp. Located in a nondescript strip mall, it stood out with its giant pink Mary's sign, and what a little gem it is. It's small but cute and clean, and we loved the decor with the wall of Marys! It's a very LGBTQ-friendly place, also, which we thought was great. The hubby got the vegan egg breakfast combo (they were out of vegan sausage which was a bummer) and I got their croissant breakfast sandwich--both were excellent, and their coffee was also great. The service was super super friendly! I wish I enjoyed what I had. I got a matcha latte that had a bunch of chunks of matcha in it which was a little off putting. I got the chicken salad sandwich and I tried so hard to like it but it just wasn't happening. FULL SIZED, uncut grapes in the salad. And way too many raisins, and I love raisins so this says a lot. The chicken salad was like too sweet? It was a weird thing to be eating. I kept going back trying to like it and finish the sandwich because it was pretty expensive but it just kept falling short. The bread was dry and difficult to hold because of all of the giant grapes in the sandwich so it kept falling apart. Too many flavor profiles going on and way too sweet to be a savory sandwich. The coffee itself was full of flavor and the beans appeared to be roasted to perfection. The price was average in our current economy. It is a small place and seating is limited. The parking lot is cramped, but we were both able to find a spot without a problem. However, when full, it could be challenging to navigate if you have a full size truck or SUV. Very cute, quaint breakfast and lunch eatery located in the heart of the Universityof Texas campus. It's not very fancy, but was just perfect to meet our morning hunger pains. So, on a Thursday, go before 10:30 in the morning. The menu wasn't very extensive. The were several waffle dishes to choose from and several breakfast sandwich choices. Both groups allowed you to make your own well. I had the Mary Had a Little Ham waffle dish. Don't know if I was just hungry or if the combination of bacon, bananas and peanut butter ignited my taste buds. I devoured it! My husband had the Mary Street waffle.
