Tucked away in Adriatica Village, it seems like the kind of spot that brings a fresh, upscale twist to Caribbean cuisine. You need reservations ! We walked in and were advised we needed reservations. So we booked a reservation and came back an house later to only be told they are out of food. Horrible first experience. I doubt I'll even be bothered in the future. They need to handle things a lil better. Close the doors shoot ! And you don't ask for more business via social media and NOT BE PREPARED! Saw this restaurant on Instagram and wanted to try it. We came here on a sunday afternoon and they had a guitarist playing which was a nice ambiance. I l like the decor of the place, the seating is comfortable, and it looks like it would be a nice place to have a dinner party. However, the service was unexpectedly slow considering there were 3 servers and 4 tables. It took probably 15 minutes before someone came to take our order. There was no introduction given or suggestions on ordering options. Strangely they also brought the rice to our dish out around 8 minutes before the rest of the meal (which is weird as we would want to eat the rice with the meat). I asked for some sauce to go with the meat, as it was a bit dry, and it turns out they charge $4 for sauce (this was not previously disclosed). It also took a while for us to get the check and two of the servers generally appeared lost. As for the food, the diri djon djon was a bit dry, as was the griot. The cabrit was good, and I liked that the dishes came with seasoned vegetables, though in general the portion sizes were smaller than expected considering the price and comprable meals at other similar establishments. I suggest subbing the plantain for the yucca. The plantain was quite dry but the yucca was great. The accra was delicious. All in all I wouldnt drive all the way from dallas again to try this place as there are more economical haitian restaurants closer to me with larger portions (though admittedly not as nice of an ambiance) but if i happened to be in the McKinney area again I could see myself stopping in to try a few other dishes. read more

Service was good and the ambience was nice. Portion size for yucca fries and empanadas were extremely small for the price but tasty. I ordered the oxtail which was good. My friend ordered the fried goat and she felt it was dry. My daughter ordered the bbq sandwich which she didn't like but she loved the fries. Beignets were small and not very good. This is a NEW RESTAURANT. I can see the potential for success once they work out kinks and become fully functional. I'm hoping they will add cocktails to the menu. Ambiance is gorgeous the colors are beautiful and vibrant. The outside looks like Greek Goddess's and God's could live here. It's a beautiful restaurant and decorated simply, but modern and chic. The space is amazing and so cozy. I love the vibe and energy of the place. Service is decent, some of the staff is new and still learning. Everyone seemed polite and nice. I love the lunch prices. It gives you a chance to sample and test the menu. The wings were fried to perfection. The chicken was crispy and well seasoned. I did ask for all flats and somehow the kitchen messed up my request. The sauce that came with the wings was blah. I think they need to serve some type of spicy sauce. The plantain chips were tasty. I enjoyed the seasoning on them and how thin they were. The beef patty fell flat for me. I enjoyed the pastry part. It was truly magical. It was light and fluffy, soft and flaky. The inside filling was bland though. I needed some seasoning or onions, peppers or more meat. I was disappointed with the taste. Overall I had a decent experience and I was happy to support a new business. This restaurant is a Caribbean Fusion with an emphasis on Haitian cuisine. I really wanted to try oxtails, but they were out of them. I might return once they have been open for a while. Tried the new spot in Adriatica for lunch today with my dad who is visiting in town. The service was exceptional. Friendly. The atmosphere is nice, clean, Very bight and welcoming. The food was amazing! We tried the beef patties/pastry, it was light and flakey. So good! The bang bang shrimp was very good. The texture was crispy, sweet and spicy. Would definitely order again. Great fries and sliders. I recommend this and will be back to try the burger after having those fries! Best fries around!! read more

I had the opportunity to dine at this restaurant on Sunday for brunch. I want to say this was a joyful experience, and I hope they survive, as they are a new restaurant I believe has been around for about 4 months. The wait staff was attentive, and the chef came out and introduced herself. We had a slight issue with one order in the group, and they were quick to fix their mistake; an example of great customer service, something you don't see often. I had the Acra as an appetizer and the griot pork as my entrée; both were very satisfying. Others enjoyed the ox tails, and I heard no complaints. They have a big screen and turned on FIFA to watch. My wife has been raving about his place after seeing reviews on TikTok. We were in the area and decided to finally give them a try for lunch. To my surprise, this restaurant serves Haitian Creole food. The place is really nice; once inside, you feel like you are out of the country and on an island. The food is delicious, and the service was great. This place has a lot of potential, especially with summer around the corner. The food is nothing short of revolutionary, a hidden Caribbean treasure in an otherwise endless sea of benign strip malls. I expected normal dry as the Texas sun chicken, but I've rarely had meat so tender. Notes of thought and love underscored the complex flavor in every single dish, even the garnishes and sauces. I consider this a hallmark of a great restaurant. My only gripe is that the building was hot and reminiscent of an old fashioned colonial house, but perhaps this was an even more authentic experience. I could almost feel the salt-white sand between my toes. This is the sort of place the NYTimes or Michelin write about because it was discovered on lark by one of their scout ant reporters on a random crossword Sunday. The old Silk Road restaurant in Adriatica is now a Haitian Caribbean cuisine place. It is still so new it is still in the process of getting a liquor license, so the wine was complimentary. Nice! The portions of food were huge and affordable. The restaurant is trying really hard, and very the service very accommodating. The Bang Bang shrimp wraps as appetizers were spicy but delicious and enough for a meal. The main dish food is not my thing, meats are dry. Overall it was a great experience to have to learn about the cuisine. I was originally nervous that the hookah bar was going to be a problem (since we don't smoke) but it is completely separated and behind glass doors and in the back. The place/building is amazing, but only a few people were there. I'm glad we went but wouldn't go back despite their best efforts. I hope they make it. read more

I have high hopes for this place as the food was good and the decor was beautiful. I had the Griot and loved it and my spouse had shrimp tacos...big shrimp and very tasty. Servers were nice but you can tell there are some big kinks to work out. They do have a liquor license but no bartender and server could not articulate what alcohol was available so we skipped that. Also; the main courses did not come out at the same time and my rice portion of the Griot also came out later. I also was perturbed that the 20% "large party" service charge was added even though we were only 2. The 20% is not a problem but the server also did not make us aware it was already included. Bottom line is I think this can be a great restaurant but they have some kinks to work out. We plan to try it again after a bit of time and hope they are successful. read more

Wonderful newer spot in McKinney with Caribbean flair! Loved meeting Sofia, the owner, and hearing about her favorite menu items! We tried the beef and guava empanadas with dipping sauces (so so good- no pic because they were gone fast!), the shrimp wraps, pork belly tacos and fries! All were well seasoned with wonderful flavor and a little spice on the shrimp! We got the beignets to go. What an awesome spot and a great addition to McKinney's restaurants! I recently celebrated a friend's birthday at AROME, a wonderful Caribbean fusion restaurant, and I can confidently say it was an unforgettable experience! The ambiance is fantastic, with great background music that perfectly complements the vibe. The food was absolutely spectacular--each dish bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. I was so caught up in enjoying the meal and the company of friends that I didn't take any pictures this time, but I'll definitely remember to capture next visit. The large birthday gathering was seated outback on the patio, which added to the awesome atmosphere. I came with a large group (7) and the service was impeccable. The owner/chef came out to chat and take orders. She was very warm and a pleasure to interact with over the food and restaurant's history. I ordered the lamb chops. I have nothing to add the the previous review here and agree 100% regarding the flavor, texture, and balance of the tastes of that dish. I also ordered the plantain appetizer. I very much liked the touch of truffles which moved it into the very interesting and very good category. Everyone in the group ordered a different item off the appetizer menu to share. It occurred to me that if I ordered every item on the appetizer menu, it would constitute an unique and enjoyable dinner held together by the Caribbean style flavors. All of the others in the group were very happy with their main course selections (the red snapper special was especially appreciated). Bottom line is that the group indicated that this restaurant is worthy of follow up visits due to the excellence and uniqueness of its offerings. I suspect that the chef will is experimenting with other menu items. She offered a off-menu hot sauce she was working on....oh my it was hot (and I love spice) but it had a different profile from the usual hot sauces (intense but cooled to no after taste...clean heat, different blend of hotness). I would really like to see what menu item she is working on to pair with this sauce. I will be back. Also if you are wondering (because they did not yet have their liquor license), several of us brought our own wines (corkage fee by law). Pairing the food with big red California Cabernets is the way to go. Or big whites would also be great with the fish dishes. read more
