What a fantastic place! I booked a table through hostme to celebrate my husband's birthday and so happy I did. It was a Friday night which means we got to enjoy live music! Since we are not so familiar with wines, our server helped us choose and her suggestions were perfect! To go with the wines, we ordered bruschetta and spinach & artichoke dip with chips. We also ordered lava cake and new york style cheesecake. The food was delicious. We had a blast! Sing along with the musicians and the restaurant patrons were all lively and super fun. Zin Zen is such a quaint, delightful location. My husband and I love it so much that we got married here!! The food is great, from the sandwiches to the flat bread pizza. They have a great selection of wine and even indulged us by serving a signature cocktail during our celebration. You will want to make reservations so you have a seat. We finally made it to Zin Zen yesterday and I'm so glad we did! This will be a long review, so if you don't feel like reading the whole thing, just know we can't wait to go back. Our server Peyton was lovely. She was so friendly and helpful with food suggestions. We shared the gambas which was amazing. Save the sauce, just trust me. I'll explain why in a minute. We also ordered the caprese salad which was really good. My husband always adds salt to everything and didn't touch the shaker once. It was that flavorful. We also shared the NY Strip Flatbread which was another hit. This is where I dipped the crust in that gambas sauce. Chef's kiss. The last thing we ordered was the cheesecake and that was delicious too. The prices were also very reasonable. Now onto the wine. I got the white blend flight and my husband got the cab flight. We were both really happy with our selections and ended up ordering a glass of our favorites from each. We specifically went because there was going to be live music. Aaron Hendra was fantastic! He played all the music we love including The Eagles, Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer, just to name a few. We left when he took a break but made sure to tip him and hope others did too. Giving a performer whatever amount you can afford, especially when they are entertaining you for free, is just the kind thing to do in my opinion. Lastly, since we had never been before, I thought you could only go with a reservation. Peyton shared that reservations are only needed for a few select tables so you can absolutely walk in and seat yourself. I'm glad I found that out because that's honestly one reason I hadn't gone. I thought you needed a reservation just to enjoy the music. Another great thing is that I saw families there and we have a 10-year-old daughter who we would totally bring. She would have loved the music and the food. I do read reviews before trying new restaurants and one thing that drove me nuts about the reviews I saw for Zin Zen was that people described a five star experience but only gave four stars. Checked out Adriatic's village today for first time and decided to give this place a look. I had mild expectations as when I looked at menu I seems to have a little of everything and that made me a hit nervous. But I was pleasantly surprised. It's definitely cozy and kinda charming. Very chill vibe with services that was actually friendly and attentive. Food was much better than expected and wine selection, for certified wine snob, pretty good. Had some of the classic heavy hitter but also had some other less known wines that I appreciate more. We went after work on an Tuesday afternoon. The place seemed cozy and good spot to hang out and converse with friends. The service was fast and our server was very friendly and accommodating. I ordered the beet salad which was really good, it had the right amount of balsamic dressing , it had some nuts which was a good addition with the blue cheese ( it came with goat cheese but opted for blue cheese). The dip was also very good along with the bread that came with it. Gambas was slightly spicy which I very much enjoyed . My friend ordered the Cobb salad , she mentioned it was a tad bit salty . We also ordered the Brie for appetizer , which was okay. I had a white sangria , it's not exceptional but I think it was good enough. The price was reasonable, we also got there in time for happy hour. The portioning for appetizers are a bit small ( but I think cuz it's happy hour). The salad that we ordered from a regular menu was just the right amount for me. All in all, I would not be opposed to coming back and hang out with friends and family again. read more

The wife and I made reservations (highly recommended) for Sunday brunch at Zin Zen Wine and Bistro, located in McKinney, TX. When we arrived the parking was a little concerning, since Zin Zen is located in a fairly crowded area. We were able to find a parking spot and headed in to see what they had to offer. I can imagine if it wasn't Sunday afternoon but rather Friday or Saturday evening, it might be difficult to find parking. Since we made a reservation, they had a table waiting for us with our name on it. A nice touch. Off to a great start. You would be surprised how many places we make reservations for that don't seat us immediately, even though we arrived promptly at our reserved time. After setting down, a waitress was quick to provide menus and offer suggestions. She was friendly and helpful, without being overbearing. Zin Zen has a good selection of food, just keep in mind that it's a wine and bistro, not Chillies. I ordered a mimosa (I know, that's not wine) with brunch eggs and bacon. The wife ordered a salad with steak and a Bloody Mary. Both meals were excellent and the Bloody Mary was good too, according to my wife. We decided to purchase dessert and once again, the waitress was happy to suggest the best options. We ended up ordering the Black and White Crème Brûlée (see picture), which was excellent. Parking: 3/5 - Be ready to search for parking if you come on the wrong day and time. Food: 5/5 - The menu was exactly what you expect for a bistro. The eggs (sunny side up) were great and the beacon was terrific. To be fair, it's hard to make bad eggs and beacon but the presentation was on point. Atmosphere: 4/5 - Zin Zen is exactly what it should be. It's wine first. There's plenty of space and a patio if you would prefer to be outside. The dining room has a little echo, but not bad. They have live music on the weekends so if you enjoy that, plan accordingly. There was no music during our brunch obviously, so I can't speak to what the atmosphere would be like with music playing. The dining area isn't big. Service: 5/5 - The waitress was excellent. She was attentive enough without being overly so. She had recommendations when we asked, but wasn't making unnecessary suggestions. She was friendly and had a smile every time we interacted with her. Overall: 4/5 - Zin Zen is a very nice wine and bistro. They have a great selection of wines and plenty of food options to go along with it. The atmosphere is exactly what you expect; cozy but open. Been twice now. Both times the service took forever. The first time I did actually get food and it was yummy, but the portions were tiny. Tomato basil soup was really good. Second time (today) we walked in and the sign said seat yourselves so we did on the patio. It took 30 minutes to be greeted and 15 more minutes to get water and have our order taken. Another 20 minutes after our order was taken I went in and canceled it because we were very hungry. The ambiance was nice but it looked worse and worse the hungrier we became. Zin Zen has an extensive selection of wine from around the world to the Croatian inspired Adriatica Village. This restaurant is a nestled in a quaint area of McKinney on West Virginia Parkway and Stonebridge Ranch. We all ordered from the happy hour menu which is from 3-6 PM. To share we had the Hummus-House Made with Feta, Sundried Tomatoes, Tzatziki and Olives, Served with Warm Pita Bread or Sliced Veggies. I ordered the Gambas-Spanish Style Garlic Shrimp with Smoked Paprika, Served with Toasted Cheesy Sourdough Bread. The shrimp was spicy and a bit tasty however the cheesy bread could have used more cheese or flavor I couldn't put my finger on it. The hummus was excellent as well as their flat breads. This is a great restaurant for getting together for indoor or outdoor dining, they also have a wine club that you can join for tons of perks and wine lockers. read more

I never did go here to eat. I tried and tried again to change my reservation and no one would pick up the phone. I believe that this is the worst kind of customer service and feel that this behavior would spill over into the service at the restaurant. I have read other reviews here that have said the same thing so I feel safe in my assessment. Your reply is interesting although not quite correct. No message was sent or received. That would be nice if it were so. If you could have sent a message in two minutes then you could have picked up a phone. Voice messages will kill a restaurant. Hopefully it will not adversely affect yours. Honestly this would mean nothing to me because I will not be going to your place because of the stated reasons. All of the follow up emails are starting to get a bit weird. Anything said after my first review would be up to the reader to decide if they want to believe me or not. By all means go to this place and make up your own mind. I am a nobody with a computer. If I struck some kind of nerve than be reminded of the fact that I am not a food critic. Such a cute wine bar/bistro located in the Adriatica area. The area gives me Mediterreanean/Tuscan vibes, which I absolutely love. I came here with a girlfriend on Wednesday and sat outside. They had patio heaters so we were still able to stay warm while enjoying the weather outside. We ordered the baked brie and gambas to start off with. The baked brie was delicious and was cooked in a warm puff pastry and served with an apricot glaze. The perfect mix of sweet and savory! We also ordered the gambas, which is their Spanish style garlic shrimp and served with their toasted cheesy bread. So good! We also ordered the fungi salad and the antipasto platter. The fungi salad had arugula tossed in a red wine vinaigrette and had roasted mushrooms, truffle oil, and shaved manchego cheese. You guys, this salad was so so delicious! I could probably eat this every single day. The antipasto platter was also good and we grazed on this while we sipped on our wine. They have a great wine selection here and on wine down Wednesday's, you get a bottle of wine for half off as long as you order an entree. We ended our meal with their warm bread pudding and it did not disappoint. This is a great spot for a date night or to relax with your girlfriends.
