Kung Pow is the thing that I have to try at every Chinese restaurant. But Asahi has ruined that for me. Their Kung Pow Chicken is the best I've ever had. I do like their weekday lunch buffet as well including Chinese dishes and sushi rolls. Not a spectacular buffet but good selection, good food at a good price. read more

This place has literally been a rotating Asian restaurant of some sort for the last 20 years, at least four in the last three years. I have reviews on here for several of them that didn't last. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't memorable, either. The Vegetable Udon had an off taste to the broth, and the Hot and Sour soup was neither. The Pad Thai was pretty good, and the Vegetable Lo Mein and General's chicken were pretty good, with mild but correct flavor, but, overall, nothing really special about the food here. The vegetables in the Lo Mein were good and crunchy. Wish they had used broader noodles for the Pad Thai, and more spice. The dumplings were actually very good though - a balance of flavor and texture that worked well. We wanted to like it so much, too, but we'll try elsewhere next time. read more

We've never had a bad meal. Some "meh" dishes, many fantastic dishes, great prices and decent experience for dine in or takeout. We stick to the house sushi rolls and the phenomenal sesame chicken. Look for their coupons in the mail from Valpak and its an unbeatable deal. I love how we can find quality Chinese and Japanese in one place. For dine in, drinks are always strong. Service speed can be questionable but I prefer that over feeling rushed- I've never felt rushed or had to wait to be seated. Food is always reliable and can't beat that. read more

I have followed this restaurant through six name changes in over 20 years. I truly believe it has now found it's place and I hope it is here to stay! At first I noticed there weren't so many of the traditional Chinese dishes on the menu but more of a sushi cuisine. Being a sushi lover I was so happy and amazed at the quality, presentation, and taste that they have to offer. If you like sushi you definitely have to try Asahi! You will not regret it. You no longer have to travel into Boston or the city to get amazing quality sushi and other Chinese dishes. The price you pay for the amount of food is very reasonable. One other thing that is so wonderful, is that the owner will prepare a typical Chinese dish if it is not on the menu, just ask. We have been customers for years and this was our first time back since they closed for COVID. Bitter disappointment. Hot and sour soup was swimming in chili oil and the usual dark broth was clear. Hot but tasteless. Sesame chicken had no sauce yet was soggy. Chicken in garlic sauce also didn't have any sauce but a surprising amount of scrambled egg for some reason. Egg roll completely lacked taste and was half full. Fried rice was white with a few small pieces of pork and what looked like canned diced carrots. Crab Rangoon was tasty but also soggy. I called to ask if there was new kitchen staff and was told no. I don't know what happened during quarantine but they have lost us as customers. read more

I was going here before they were Asahi and the food was very good. I keep seeing rave reviews on their sushi which is great, but I don't eat sushi. As I sat at the bar waiting for my takeout, a guest next to me was served the best looking (and smelling) teriyaki beef I have seen in a while. I was thinking the reviews were accurate. Then I got the food home. WOW,,disgusting! The teriyaki beef was cold and old. it was awful. The pork fried rice may as well have been called Onion rice. chicken fingers = under cooked dough surrounding the smallest chicken we could find. Duck Sauce,,,i mean how do you screw up DUCK SAUCE? It really seemed like the takeout customers got the lesser prepared food. Needless to say, I will not be returning. read more

My husband and I had takeout from Asahi last weekend. I ordered online, or so I thought. The order was finalized. However, when my husband went to pick our food up, there was no record of our order. The employees admitted that this had been happening semi-regularly. We shared the crab rangoons, chicken pad Thai and general tso chicken. The food was average. Crab Rangoon wasn't the best. Only gave my dad a soup and a salad even tho I asked and we would pay extra. Asked for shrimp with my order and they didn't give me any shrimp. Most likely won't come back. They give out little peppermints and mine was sticking to the wrapper, was already wet, and had hair and stuff in it. I wish I could give 0 out of 10. I have been here twice, once for dine-in and once for take-out, the dining room was nearly empty on both occasions, which is unbelievable because the food is top-notch for NH. My husband & I have been driving to Manchester the past two years when we craved good Chinese food, since the places we've tried in Derry/Londonderry weren't to our liking. We won't have to any longer! We tried Asahi last night & really enjoyed it. We each had a dinner combination. My husband had Kung Pao chicken & I had General Tso's chicken. Went here after reading the two reviews. My boyfriend and I were a little hesitant since it had so little reviews, but as soon we left he told me to write a review asap. We sat at the sushi bar and had yellowtail and salmon sashimi which was excellent and fresh! They do a little cheesy plating but the foods so amazing you don't even notice it! Also got the New Yorker roll and the Hot Babe roll, as well as a wasabi Topeko sushi. The man behind the sushi bar couldn't have been nicer! Will definitely be back. read more

We had takeout last night and it was really good. Far better than the last restaurant that occupied this space. We tried eggrolls, fried dumplings, General tso, beef and scallops, and vegetable fried rice. All of the meals were very tasty and fresh. The rice was not the heavy brown stuff you see at a lot of asian restaurants, this was very light had fresh vegetables and a very mild tasting sauce. We are looking forward to dining in and try some of their more exotic offerings. read more

I am so happy there is finally a nice place in Londonderry to get great sushi. Asahi is a much needed breath of fresh air in an otherwise pretty backward town when it come to dining out. This is some of the best sushi I've ever had. Great prices, great food, great service. The bar / lounge area is cozy and friendly. The bartenders are fun and make excellent yet affordable cocktails. I ordered take out for the first time. Don't think I will be back. I ordered the sweet potato tempura roll. There was nothing tempura about it. They were mushy. My order of pork lo mein was also mushy. I ordered this for my daughter and unfortunately could not serve her any because it was full of sesame seeds which she's allergic to. We've gotten take out from Asahi more times than I can count. Reliable and delicious. The spicy salmon roll, eel roll, and nigiri are particularly good. If you're not a fish lover, the egg rolls are a classic and not too greasy. For a restaurant in Londonderry the fish has always tasted pretty fresh. Sushi plating is very fancy! Sarah the bartender is excellent. Drinks are delicious and strong. Service is good although the meal prep is a tiny bit slow (probably because it's so fancy). So be sure to order apps! Chinese items are delicious too. read more

I've been going to ASAHI since they opened two years ago. The food has always been excellent and the staff is great. Everybody's nice no exception. Their lunch buffet is good and reasonably priced. Never had an issue til Christmas and New Year's 2017 when they had night buffet. They charged $17.99 Per person for the same lunch buffet that costs $8.99. I was very disappointed in the dinner buffet especially New Year's. It was an organized chaos. There was no food on the buffet and if there was any left it was cold and when I asked the waitress she said that they were busy preparing for takeout and delivery. She honestly said that they care more about takeout and delivery. I said to the waitress it's not fair because we are paying double for the same buffet that costs half lunchtime. I went 3 times to the buffet try to get some hot food or any food but there weren't any. There were couple empty trays piled up on each other and it looked dirty. Finally when they were able to bring out some food after 1/2 hour waiting for them to fill out one trays, it came out soggy and cold. They even had a family member, a short stocky guy wearing black jacket who came out from the kitchen to stack the plates I was standing there when he looked at a plate that had a drop of sauce on it, and instead of removing it to replace it with a new one he wiped it off with his finger and left it there. I immediately got disgusted and my stomach turned. I have no problem with them getting family members to help at a busy night like this but at least teach them some basic rules about being sanitary. There were only two waitresses running around and 4 young girls running the cashier area. I've always had good experience in that restaurant but not after tonight. It's very hard to go to a restaurant and trusting them to do the right thing. I won't be going back there for a long time after tonight (New Year's 2017). Too bad that I'm going to miss the nice people who work there. But oh well, there's always a sacrifice to be made somehow. read more

My boyfriend and I come here quite often. The food is amazing! Both of us are very picky and INDECISIVE at times. The staff is super nice and friendly and PATIENT with us everytime we come in!! lol place is nicley well kept and clean. Homey atmosphere. Im very picky when it comes to certain food, I get sick very easy, Im very sensitive and have horrible heartburn. (Sorry TMI) never once have I ever felt like death. kudos!! Chef does beautiful presentation on every dish. Fish is always fresh. The moment you walk in youre instantly greeted. All staff are kind and welcoming. We've recruited family and friends each time we go. They have a small room off in the back for small gatherings too which is a plus! Must go! read more

Just recently stopped in to pick up from the lunch sushi menu and I thought the prices were amazing for the quality and amount you get! This place has new blood once again and it is done right this time! The FOOD is awesome! The BEEF is SO fresh and tender! The flavor perfect with all the meats...i.e. chicken, beef, pork. Danika is the bomb and she will treat you right! They have the buffet M-F 11-3 but if we can get more people in on the weekends they will have it SAT and SUN too! The rice is not the Brown Rice but it is good! Edamame is the best around anywhere! A Must try! The restaurant looks very clean. The rugs were spotless. We were seated right away on a Friday night. Our server was prompt and answered all of our questions. We ordered Sushi and it was rolled to order. It was fresh and tasted great. I'd recommend this if you want to great Sushi or Chinese food. read more

We have been here a couple of times, both before and after the change of owners, before the change it was amazing, fresh, crisp, delicious. Since the new owner first time was mediocre, figured we would try again now that they have had time to get their system in place but no such luck. Sat at the bar and ordered $50.00 worth of take out sushi, 3 rolls and one order of vegetable delight, the bartender was fine she seemed to get along with the regulars and although we didn't have one the other patrons seemed to be enjoying her Mai Tais, she did spend a lot of time looking at her phone which annoys me, people should be working leave your phone in your car. When we got home we each had a bite of each of the 3 different rolls, they all tasted exactly the same like FISH OIL! So much fish oil, we threw the entire meal away, the vegetable delight was all canned mushrooms and peppers with a couple of slices of carrot and zucchini, the sauce was think and very salty but at least some of that was edible. Still in search of a good Sushi place in southern NH, Fugaky in Plymouth is a bit of a haul but certainly worth the trip we need one down here!!! read more

PuPu Platter literally came on a platter, no sterno/candle heating mechanism. Spare ribs good, chicken wings good, beef oddly seasoned, egg roll OK, chicken fingers and crab rangoon both bland, soggy, and greasy. Worse than that, even though it was only 8 PM a young woman with broom and dustpan was vigorously sweeping the carpeting under the tables nearby while we were eating. When she came to the booth directly behind my chair I said "Please! We've got FOOD on the table!" so she moved to the other row of booths on the other side of our table and was sweeping the booth next to the one directly behind my husband which was also occupied by another couple.
