We love Asahi! This cozy hibachi restaurant is definitely Flower Mound's finest! They have a great selection, and the restaurant is lively and fun! The service was excellent and the food delicious. They also offer sushi and other Japanese cuisine in addition to hibachi. My husband and I dined here for Christmas Eve dinner, and I wish I would have gotten the hibachi chef's name because he was the best hibachi chef that we have ever had in any restaurant. He was cordial, funny, efficient, and the food tasted amazing! Also, his tricks were fabulous...and not too loud. And something he did that I have never seen before...he did a few tricks AFTER we all had our food (just before cleaning the grill)! We loved that! Thank you for such a delicious and memorable meal!

Always gracious, friendly, easy service. And excellent food!! Birthday tradition is a little different this year, but it still feels like home.

Came here for a leisurely meal with a visting friend. We ordered from the sushi menu and we were quite pleased with what we ordered. I got the agedashi tofu and it was extremely well-made, the tofu was silky and not over-fried. I got the salmon bomb as my main dish, and it was excellent! Thr flavors work well together and it's filling enough to be a small main course on its own. We did save eoom for dessert and I got some green tea ice cream, which was quite good. Service was a little slow, but we didn't mind as we wanted to hang out and talk anyway. I'm looking forward to coming back to try the hibachi menu!

This place looks nice! Great service! Friendly people! 10/10 Food was ok- we had different hibachi dinners: Filet mignons was good! Ny steak was lilttle too dry Chicken teriyaki was too dry! Salmon was good!! And the shrimp The sushi we had was all good ! Wanted more food! Compared to other spots this place didn't pack the food!

Good for date night or group dinner. We had a group of 11 and you can seat up to 12. Variety of options and everyone enjoyed their main meals. Only complaint was starter soup was below par. Service and presentation were enjoyable.

I've been going to Asahi for years. I'm never disappointed. The food is always good. The filet in my opinion is the best thing on the menu! Scallops were good as well as the lobster. We went on a Monday evening, so there weren't a lot of other big groups at the hibachi tables, which was nice. It was a little quieter than normal.

Quail eggs are amazing!

Another night at Asahi! The sushi is always amazing. Friendly staff and great atmosphere.

Worst dry chicken, Salmon was good though. service was awesome though. Moses was our chef.

Had the teppenyaki Salmon lunch portion with fried rice and it was good. Not the best I've ever had, but reasonably priced for a lunch stop. The salmon was cooked the perfect temperature but had no additional seasonings on it whatsoever. Had to use the sauces provided to battle the blandness. The veggies were cooked perfectly as well... I wasn't impressed with the fried rice which sucks considering there is a 2.00 upcharge for it from steamed. It was brownish and had pretty much no egg in it. Tasted like it was cooked strictly using used pan oil. Will likely give this place another shot one day, next time for sushi tho.

This was an excellent Teppanyaki place, I had soup, salad, fried rice, sautéed veggies, and New York steak. I could have passed on the soup (it was really bland), but the rest of the meal was pretty exceptional. Service was great, hibachi chef really took time to keep kids engaged in what he was doing. The outside of the restaurant looks great, and if the inside catches up at some point I'm sure it will look amazing. Don't skip out on Asahi if you're looking for a the hibachi experience!

Our chef! He was fantastic!

Hanaya Asian Fusion - Flower Mound…read more One of the best fried rice in town! Staff always happy and greet returning customers. Rice is such a delicate dish, like fish. You can undercook, or overcook it. This place... Nails it, every time. Both white and fried. Most of the time I prefer white rice, much healthier. But, there's something magical happening with your taste buds when you eat their fried rice. Almost hard to put it in writing. I encourage you to visit and try it for yourself. Be the judge. The dishes are always, generous and presentable. The side salad with a pink dressing are among of my favorites. Salad always looks fresh, full of great ingredients. Side soup is always fresh, hot and delicious. Even though it's located at Lakeside, Flower Mound, every time I've visited, I've never felt in Flower Mound. They've done a great job making you feel transformed into a place of relaxation and enjoyment. Always clean and well lit. Bar area is another of my favorites to highlight. I don't drink alcohol but I've always appreciated a good bar setup. It's elegant and simplistic. And, of course, I can't forget that they have additional seating area if you want to have a fun presentation of watching how your food is made. Highly recommend! I've eaten at both sides and the service is always outstanding. I've never had a bad experience. If you're looking to have a nice time and great fresh food, "Hanaya Asian Fusion," is the right spot for you. I can't recommend it enough.

Refreshing Surprise - Passion & Care…read more I was down the street getting a haircut and had a craving for sushi, so I opened Yelp, spotted Kanzi, and decided to swing by. I'm so glad I did. Kanzi is one of those refreshing surprises: an approachable neighborhood sushi spot that clearly cares about the details. They may not be trying to be an ultra high-end omakase destination with otoro and uni, but what they do offer, they execute with care, precision, and pride. The fish was clearly well stored and well cared for, and the cuts were clean and thoughtful. I tried the red snapper, eel, mackerel, yellowtail, masago, super white tuna with fresh wasabi, and one roll: the no-rice Cool Hawaiian. I'll post a few pictures as well because the presentation really deserves it. I sat at the bar and had the chance to talk with Hong, the chef preparing my food. I learned that he took over the restaurant from his brother and still visits sushi restaurants around DFW at least twice a week to keep learning, tasting, and improving his own craft. That told me everything I needed to know. There is real passion here. Hong believes the details matter, from a clean bathroom to the right Japanese knife, specially purchased for left-handed use. That kind of care shows up in the food and in the overall experience. Go visit Kanzi, sit at the bar if you can, and tell Hong that Tait says hello -- and thank you. Pro Tip: Kanzi is currently BYOB. There is a liquor store right across the parking lot, literally within about 50 feet. Walk in, head to the cooler on the far right, grab a cold bottle of sake, and bring it back with you. Kanzi has sake cups ready to go, which makes the whole experience even better.

Leaving 1 star only because 0 stars isn't an option…read more My boyfriend and I dined here today for Father's Day. The food itself was actually very good--we ordered sushi and hibachi steak and enjoyed both. Unfortunately, the service completely ruined the experience. After being seated, we waited 10-15 minutes before anyone acknowledged us or brought us drinks. Once our food arrived, the server immediately walked away without asking if we needed anything else. We never received yum yum sauce, so my boyfriend had to walk up to the sushi station to ask for it himself. While he was there, he saw our server sitting behind the sushi station eating instead of checking on tables. By the time we finally got the sauce, I was already thirsty from the soy sauce and had finished my drink. I placed my empty cup on the edge of the table, but our server didn't come back for at least another 10 minutes. A hostess eventually noticed and kindly offered me a refill. The next time our server came to the table, it wasn't to check on us--it was to drop off the bill. We were never asked if we needed anything else or if we wanted dessert. Then came the biggest issue. When we looked over the bill, we noticed an automatic 20% gratuity had been added for our party of two. The menu clearly states that a 20% gratuity is only added for parties of six or more. When we questioned the server, we were told management had added a 20% gratuity to every check because it was Father's Day. Our subtotal was about $80, but the final bill came to $103 after the automatic gratuity. I'm not even sure whether the gratuity was calculated before or after tax, as nothing was explained or disclosed beforehand. I spoke with the manager, whose only response was, "I'll talk to the server." There was no apology, no effort to correct the situation, and no explanation as to why the automatic gratuity was not disclosed before we ordered. Customers should be informed of mandatory service charges in advance, especially when they differ from the restaurant's stated policy. Had I received this level of service without the forced gratuity, I certainly would not have chosen to tip 20%. The food deserves praise, but unfortunately, great food can't make up for terrible service and an undisclosed automatic gratuity. We won't be returning.

We came with friends and family expecting a fun hibachi dinner, but from the moment we sat down we felt rushed. The staff hurried us through the entire meal instead of letting us relax and enjoy the experience. The service was poor, and the food was disappointing as well. It simply wasn't good, especially considering the price. Hibachi is supposed to be an enjoyable dining experience where you can spend time with the people you're with--not feel like you're being rushed out the door. I really wanted this second visit to change my opinion, but it did the opposite. I left more disappointed than the first time, and unfortunately I won't be returning or recommending this restaurant.

I like that they have combinations (e.g. filet mignon&chicken). We loved the filet mignon. The chicken was a little dry both times we have ordered it; ask the hibachi chef for some of the teriyaki sauce on the side. I am not a shrimp fan, but shrimp in their yum yum sauce - holy cow! I am seriously considering ordering shrimp and scallops as my meal next time, because the seafood in yum yum sauce is amazing here. The staff is super friendly and readily accommodated my husband's endless requests. (Can I get mine with a double portion of fried rice? Two soups instead of soup and salad? A dish of that teriyaki sauce on the side?) Our favorite hibachi chef is Antonio. He was creative, friendly, and jived well with the family extroverts. The interior looks classiest after dark because of the lighting, so we will make a habit of coming more often in the winter. In the daylight it's just all right. The noise level and seating arrangements may make it difficult to have a conversation with more than one or two other people at your table, which is common in a hibachi restaurant. There was also a vent in the exhaust hood that rattled loudly over my head the whole time, but we were still able to carry on a conversation between four of us when we brought my husband's parents. Overall a decent choice for a good hibachi dinner.
