I have a gluten allergy and they were so amazing with accommodating! I called ahead of time to ask if they had anything I could have, I assumed I would just be eating meat with steamed rice but was pleasantly surprised to learn they have gluten free soy sauce and were able to make the fried rice with the lunch hibachi special. I ordered it with the chicken and just requested that they didn't do the teriyaki (since it was not gluten free) and just had them cook it normally and it was delicious. I will say that the soup and salad that you get at the beginning of the meal required some modifications. No dressing on the salad (it contained gluten) along with the soup being changed to just broth because the miso came with noodles in it. We had the pleasure of being to only ones seated at the grill, so got a private cooking. We ordered off the lunch menu. I got the NY Strip and Shrimp, my wife got the Teriyaki chicken. Both upgraded to fried rice. The cook was friendly and cooked the food to our liking. We also got the tempura shrimp and veggies appetizer, along with a caterpillar roll. We love Asahi! This cozy hibachi restaurant is definitely Flower Mound's finest! They have a great selection, and the restaurant is lively and fun! The service was excellent and the food delicious. They also offer sushi and other Japanese cuisine in addition to hibachi. My husband and I dined here for Christmas Eve dinner, and I wish I would have gotten the hibachi chef's name because he was the best hibachi chef that we have ever had in any restaurant. He was cordial, funny, efficient, and the food tasted amazing! Also, his tricks were fabulous...and not too loud. Came here for a leisurely meal with a visting friend. We ordered from the sushi menu and we were quite pleased with what we ordered. I got the agedashi tofu and it was extremely well-made, the tofu was silky and not over-fried. I got the salmon bomb as my main dish, and it was excellent! Thr flavors work well together and it's filling enough to be a small main course on its own. We did save eoom for dessert and I got some green tea ice cream, which was quite good. We have taken our large family to Asahi for one of our holiday dinners the last 4 years. Unfortunately, this will mostly end. A big part of the Japanese steakhouse experience is the chef's performance. Otherwise, why go? Even though I had asked for their best given the large number of kids, there was absolutely nothing. I have been to a lot of hibachi places, but this is hands down the worst one I have ever visited. We got to the restaurant and were seated at a table top by ourselves. The waiter was very friendly and came out and took our order and kept drinks refilled. The cook came out to start preparing our meal on the table in front of us as they typically do, but as he was cooking our meats that we had ordered the burner on the table top went out and wouldn't stay hot. He ended up having to switch our food to the table behind him, taking away the entire hibachi experience we paid for. Half of the meat ended up dried out and over cooked since it had to go back and forth between tables. No apology or anything from the managers after we complained. I wouldn't go to this location again, there are much better places to have a meal. read more

Had the teppenyaki Salmon lunch portion with fried rice and it was good. Not the best I've ever had, but reasonably priced for a lunch stop. The salmon was cooked the perfect temperature but had no additional seasonings on it whatsoever. Had to use the sauces provided to battle the blandness. The veggies were cooked perfectly as well... I wasn't impressed with the fried rice which sucks considering there is a 2.00 upcharge for it from steamed. It was brownish and had pretty much no egg in it. Tasted like it was cooked strictly using used pan oil. Will likely give this place another shot one day, next time for sushi tho. read more

And they gave the birthday girl a dessert, sang happy birthday, then sang an authentic song to a drum, took her photo with her dessert, AND printed it and gave to her in a card before we left. In addition, we got the Texas Tornado and the Fiery Dragon because spicy food is a must for my family. Neither one was particularly hot, but still tasty nonetheless. For dessert we had the fried tempura ice cream and fried tempura cheesecake. I would venture to guess that these are the 2 most unhealthy items on the dessert menu, possibly even the entire menu. But, they sure tasted good, and It was a special occasion after all! Sitting so close to the hibachi area, we were enticed by the sight and smell of the food on the grill the whole time we were there.
