As a huge sushi fan, I was extremely disappointed in not only the customer experience but the sushi cuts as well. On top of that, we had to ask for the normal ginger and wasabi that is normally standard at other restaurants. Our server never checked on us and had to call someone else over to help us.

I stopped here for lunch on a work trip. They do not have lunch special anymore which was weird because they have a flyer at the front of the restaurant with the lunch special price on it and when asked, the guy just said he did not know anything about it. A bit odd but okay. They give you a good portion for the food and it was good as well as the service. I wish I could give a 3.5 because I don't think it's deserving of 4 stars but not deserving of 3 either.

What a wonderful lunch spot! The service was quick and efficient. The salmon poke bowl was under $15, and the portion was so generous that I couldn't even finish it. We had a table for six during a quiet lunch hour, and although they started some projects towards the end that were a bit noisy, it didn't overshadow the overall great experience.

Nice employees. Very cozy ambiance inside and rolls are the size of the palm of your hand!

I have been here several times but it has been a while. I forgot how good they were. My daughter and I stopped in for dinner. I had a glass of generously poured plum wine and the nigiri entree. It was chef's choice and boy did he do a great job. I was served a nice selection of tasty nigiri with perfectly seasoned rice. Check out my pictures on this post. The restaurant is small and had one server who did a nice job managing a nearly packed house. I will return, soon, and highly recommend.

The garlic edamame was out of this world. Seaweed salad on point. Tried the tsunami roll, Philly roll, and the cross timbers roll - all full of flavor. Customer service was outstanding and friendly.

    Garlic edamame-very good

We stumbled across this small little sushi restaurant and decided to give it a try. We were seated very quickly and the man took our drink order immediately. Service started out super quick. He was not super friendly but made up for that with his quickness, that was until he took a phone call that lasted forever and all service stopped. The food was good. Fresh but fast. However no one working besides the one waiter apparently could do anything in the dining area. All other groups has left and it was only us left. We were ready to leave for 20 minutes or so while he sat on the phone and everyone else stared at us. It was very frustrating, they were set to close in 30 minutes for their break time and we just wanted to go. I think we will try one of the other sushi places around the area so we don't get in that awkward situation again.

We were searching for a sushi place that had something new and creative. Based on the other reviews, we popped in for a quick lunch. Small place but good selection of wines and beers. Started with the garlic edamame and that was delicious. They have poke bowls available for lunch, bento boxes and a decent selection of rolls without rice. My hubby ordered the volcano roll with crawfish tails. I ordered an avocado dome! It all arrived very quickly! My avocado covered a mound of spicy crab and fried crawfish tails! It was huge! I could only eat half! My only regret was that I had to leave it all behind because I wasn't going home! Go there. Get some. Life is too short for boring food:)

911 Roll, Yellowtail Love Roll, Salmon Roll, Gluten Free Soy Sauce

‼*Serves Gluten Free Soy Sauce* We ordered 1 house roll (salmon roll) and two specialty rolls (911 and Yellowtail love) which we definitely enjoyed! The atmosphere and service were 5 stars though. Got our food in no time at all and had attentive servers!

I called ahead of time to ask…read moreif they had anything I could have, I assumed I would just be eating meat with steamed rice but was pleasantly surprised to learn they have gluten free soy sauce and were able to make the fried rice with the lunch hibachi special. I ordered it with the chicken and just requested that they didn't do the teriyaki (since it was not gluten free) and just had them cook it normally and it was delicious. I will say that the soup and salad that you get at the beginning of the meal required some modifications. No dressing on the salad (it contained gluten) along with the soup being changed to just broth because the miso came with noodles in it. Overall the staff was so kind and patient with my questions and needs.

Just after 1. We had the pleasure of being to only ones seated at the grill, so got a private cooking. We ordered off the lunch menu. I got the NY Strip and Shrimp, my wife got the Teriyaki chicken. Both upgraded to fried rice. The cook was friendly and cooked the food to our liking. We also got the tempura shrimp and veggies appetizer, along with a caterpillar roll. LOTS of food for the two of us. Price is reasonable and staff were all friendly. We will happily return!

I was sat quickly at the bar, and then seemed to be forgotten about. I did wait a while before a man came to me to take my drink order, and then things progressed quickly. Though everyone who ended up being sat after me were immediately taken care of. I ordered the sushi and sashimi bento box. I sat at the sushi bar so I was able to watch how things were prepared. Everything comes out quickly, as all of the proteins are pre sliced and ready to go. They were busy and the turn around is quick. They also do a lot of to go orders, and those were stacked up by the front door. I thought the quality of the fish was good for the price. I really liked the ginger dressing that comes on the salad, though it is a wild color. The gyoza just tasted like frozen dumplings you can buy at the store, and then deep fried. But they were good. The rice was cooked properly, and not mushy at all. The only thing I didn't care for was the California roll. It was super goopy and just tasted like mayo. I had to leave that alone. The atmosphere is very noisy and if you are sitting at the sushi bar, you hear the constant beeping of their order machine. I may try them again for dinner if it is a bit quieter, or takout seems like a good option, though there is no online ordering on their website.

Refreshing Surprise - Passion & Care…read more I was down the street getting a haircut and had a craving for sushi, so I opened Yelp, spotted Kanzi, and decided to swing by. I'm so glad I did. Kanzi is one of those refreshing surprises: an approachable neighborhood sushi spot that clearly cares about the details. They may not be trying to be an ultra high-end omakase destination with otoro and uni, but what they do offer, they execute with care, precision, and pride. The fish was clearly well stored and well cared for, and the cuts were clean and thoughtful. I tried the red snapper, eel, mackerel, yellowtail, masago, super white tuna with fresh wasabi, and one roll: the no-rice Cool Hawaiian. I'll post a few pictures as well because the presentation really deserves it. I sat at the bar and had the chance to talk with Hong, the chef preparing my food. I learned that he took over the restaurant from his brother and still visits sushi restaurants around DFW at least twice a week to keep learning, tasting, and improving his own craft. That told me everything I needed to know. There is real passion here. Hong believes the details matter, from a clean bathroom to the right Japanese knife, specially purchased for left-handed use. That kind of care shows up in the food and in the overall experience. Go visit Kanzi, sit at the bar if you can, and tell Hong that Tait says hello -- and thank you. Pro Tip: Kanzi is currently BYOB. There is a liquor store right across the parking lot, literally within about 50 feet. Walk in, head to the cooler on the far right, grab a cold bottle of sake, and bring it back with you. Kanzi has sake cups ready to go, which makes the whole experience even better.
