I've been here several times, but I have never yet left a review. The service has always been consistent, and the quality of the food, reliable. Today I stopped in for a quick bite for lunch and ordered a sashimi bento box. Must've had a hurried look because they came and took my order very quickly. I sat at the bar both for speed of service and to be able to check out the sushi chef's in their element. Ordered the sashimi bento box and it was fantastic. Fresh, flavorful and consistently good. The pieces of fish that were part of the chef's choice have been tasty; just be sure to have an open mind and open palate. The restaurant had a friendly vibe: warm, genuine smiles and sincere questions when asking about my experience. I'm glad that this restaurant is in my neighborhood and I will definitely be back both for lunch and dinner read more

They've updated their look to be more intimate, I was so enthralled I (gasp) forgot to take pictures?! The food is quality and good portions, and reasonably priced, which is a relief in this economy. Service is attentive; multiple people stopped by our table to check on us or take additional orders of sushi when needed. The gyoza and edamame are always a fan favorite of our group. I felt like trying out a new Sushi spot in the area and felt like Tomo would be a good choice. We arrived and were promptly greeted and seated. The restaurant was very nice and inviting and the service was excellent throughout our entire experience. We had the Tomo for Two as well as the Spicy Edamame. I really appreciated that the spicy Edamame was legitimately spicy! That is a rarity in Flower Mound to have anything spicy. The Ahi Tower that came with the dinner was great. It was bright and tasted super fresh. Unfortunately the sushi and sashimi was just average. It was not bad, but fishier than I prefer. Next time I would stick to either the Ahi Tower or Rolls. Definitely a solid option in the area and well worth a try. read more

Going to another restaurant and this one was next door. Caught my attention and decided to give it a try and glad i did. I prefer nigri so basically that's what i ordered beside there miso and tuna tower. Everything tasted and presented amazing! Our server was great. Price is typical of most restaurant. When Flower Mound welcomed yet another sushi restaurant into the fold I just knew they were going to be top notch. After all, it's risky business to open any restaurant in this town, much less a sushi place with competitors like Tsunami and Nori in the vicinity. So, they really have to be exceptional in order to survive. The dimly lit interior is cozy, and stylish. Plus, it's small enough so that it probably wouldn't even accommodate enough people to make it very noisy. The combination of 4 people who all have different preferences, and the fact that we were all famished, resulted in us ordering a substantial amount of food and a variety dishes. From the appetizers to the rolls, everything was beautifully and expertly crafted creating vibrant, unique flavors and textures. The salmon in particular was buttery soft and absolutely delectable. We were impressed by the quality and freshness of all the seafood actually. Not surprisingly, we made short work of cleaning each and every plate. My only complaint was that the food took a really long time to be prepared even though they had very few customers besides us. Our rolls sort of trickled out with such long waits in between each one that I started to wonder if they had been leaving to go catch the fish! I'm not placing any blame whatsoever on the server because I could tell that she was delivering our dishes as quickly as possible. But, if the the food had come out in a more timely manner, this would easily have been a 5 star experience. It's BYOB for now, although I'm not sure if they ever plan to offer alcohol. If you do arrive empty handed and want a drink, I would recommend stopping by Flurry's Market a few doors down to pick up some wine or a daiquiri to bring back here. read more

I would consider sushi one of my absolute favorite foods in the world so the soft-opening of this location in Flower Mound was eagerly anticipated. We went in on a Saturday evening, again soft-opening and were pleasantly surprised to see a few of our friends there as well. I also went there for lunch with work friends. Everything is new and nice of course, and the feel of the place is comforting. The staff is happy to see you and are very helpful in both selections and service. Basic blocking and tackling here when it comes to a sushi and grill place. Was informed that the place is Korean-owned after I asked about several traditional Korean style dishes on the menu (Bulgogi for example). However the selection is large and I think that it's a place where you can find something for everyone as they offer numerous appetizers, rolls, bento boxes, rice-less options, and nigiri/sashimi. Granted it's a soft-opening so I hope these comments are helpful, but here's what I observed at least this night and lunch a couple days later. Food was slow coming out but decent flavor. Atmosphere seems like a very fun place where it could be a family dinner or nice enough and spaced out enough for a romantic date. Love the wicker chairs at the entrance, so comfy. My work friends could talk about business during lunch so works for that too. For now I'd say the bento boxes are a good start for beginners as you can sample a lot of different flavors for a decent price. (Mostly around $15). The sushi does have a more common feel to it, and by that i mean it's the usual staple of rolls and nigiri that you might expect. Don't get me started on the direction sushi is going because all those sauces and mayonnaises, etc make me cringe. But I understand it creates a wider audience. This place has plenty of them. I didn't really notice any great creativity, and quite frankly was disappointed in a couple of the sushi cuts that came out for rolls we ordered. The fish is pretty average, it's not that high level sushi grade but with most at $5-$6 it fits most people's budgets and seems a fair deal as you're getting the level of fish you're paying for. Compliments as they did do ama ebi fried heads for us and my 12-year-old tried it for the first time after a drama-filled attempt at resistance.....LOL..but she agreed it wasn't as bad as she thought it would be. The ikura, well it had that soaked flavor so it didn't seem as it was just served so I appreciate that. But it didn't make me want to order another one immediately. The rice had perhaps a hint of that all-important vinegar flavor, but wasn't at a premium level. Soft opening taken into account, I can at best say this place is average sushi and creativity. Staff is super friendly with great personalities and open to feedback which I think is great. And for certain I'm tough on sushi places cause it's one of my absolute favorite foods. But I think I am quite objective when I say this place is all about being average at a decent price-point and not much more at this stage. Aside from the ama ebi, other notable dishes to try are the ahi tower; the green tea mochi dessert with whip cream and coconut flakes and nuts; the sake tower; sushi and sashimi bento. read more

Overall had a great experience here! Loved our apps which were spring rolls, dumplings and edamame. Then we got some sashimi, nigiri and a couple rolls. This could be personal preference but I prefer to have sashimi and nigiri at least slightly dressed. So a bit of sauce or something -- also the sashimi was sliced quite thick, and while I appreciate all the fish, that thickness makes the taste and feeling of raw fish very apparent. I've now been to check out Tomo Sushi three times and absolutely love it. Their rolls are so fresh and the Dynamite Roll is by far my favorite . Aside from their food being delicious they also have excellent service! If you have a non-sushi eater in the family be warned there isn't much for them. Thankfully this meant my husband had to actually try sushi and turns out it's not so bad Heads up: the edamame is very small so if you are used to getting it at other local places it's not as big. read more

A hidden gem. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, and the service was impeccable. We have a couple of staples we have to try when we check out a new sushi place....spicy edame and squid salad. The edame wasn't my cup of tea, it was a dry seasoning, I prefer more saucy. The squid salad was fresh and delicious, one of the best I've had in the area. Our server guided us through the rest of the selections. The Better Together was our fav. I also loved the fact that they had several riceless roll options as well, although i can never use chopsticks with those!!!. The Alice roll was the bomb, but I might be partisl since that's my granddaughters name!!! Maybe she'll try sushi since she has a roll named after her! Not sure where all the 5 star rave reviews are coming from. Sushi is average at best. Rolls were not made as described on the menu, Miso soup was very plain, no seaweed, no tofu. The miso soup was one of the best I have had in recent times, we ordered four rolls and chicken gyoza for appetizers for 3 adults and 2 kids. Food was good, one of the rolls felt like it had been sitting out for a bit (the rice was super dry). They did not have fresh wasabi, which I usually prefer over the premade ones. The service was at most a 2 star, I had to keep asking for utensils, then plates, the soy sauce. I guess they are still training their staff in this area. Ambiance was good, they have definitely remodeled the interiors well. Sitting for larger groups might be tough. read more

This place has amazing sushi. I ordered my usual favorites Salmon sashimi and a Caterpillar roll. My god, the sashimi was firm and flavorful dipped in a bit of soy sauce with wasabi. The Caterpillar roll, that blew me away. The unagi was delicious, the oyster sauce has the right sweetness and the avocado just melted in your mouth. I cannot wait to try more items on their menu and bring back my family. The service was friendly and the ambiance was pleasant with the paino music playing in the background.
