While I did not receive a call back, I did receive a very detailed text message by Gunnar. Firstly apologizing for not giving me a call back and secondly going into detail of what my options were with caring for the kitten. He gave me advice without making me feel obligated to go with them to have the kitten seen. This type of kindness will always incline me to leave a review to show appreciation to those who are just simply caring without expecting anything in return. As soon as we arrive they always bring us into the room and play calming music for my cat. Their timing is incredibly efficient and their vet techs are highly trained. I watched Brooke take blood and urine from my cat as though she was a veterinarian herself. I recently said goodbye to my oldest cat and they made the experience go as well as it possibly could have. I don't know how they are strong enough to do that on a regular basis but they did an incredible job. This vet is one of the very few things I'll miss about Austin when I leave.

I switched doctors in the practice and saw Dr. Graf, who was great and lovingly cared for Mr Potter, my male Basset Hound, from puppy to 2.5 years. During a difficult period when my dog was sick, I expressed my dismay to the staff about poor communication with me when I needed followup calls or emails about laboratory results, Rx medication that needed to be compounded or special ordered, and followup appointments. CRICKETS I called again and again asking to speak to a Vet. Finally, after two days, Dr Faggioni called me. I explained my concerns and the lack of quality communication which I expected. He told me that it was perhaps best for me to find another vet practice! REALLY!? DONE. GONE. BOOM Interestingly enough, that lady vet, Dr. Graf, is no longer working there, too. Not surprised. This guy is awful. He has a terrible "bedside" manner (how does someone NOT talk in high baby talk to an adorable puppy?) THAT should've been a Red Flag for me! I explained that to the Receptionist. She made excuses for the practice and said she would relay my message to the Vet who was seeing patients. NO ONE CALLED. I had to look up answers to my questions ONLINE in order to make an informed decision about which medication I wanted to give my dog. I called later to arrange to pick up the medication. When I arrived, I again voiced my DISMAY at the LACK of FOLLOWUP by a VET, and that I expected to hear from the OWNER in the morning. Again this was TWO DAYS of no phone contact from my Vet who "supposedly" was "caring" for my dog! Dr Faggioni called the next morning and conveyed NO CONCERN or EMPATHY and clearly did not CARE that I was upset about his practice's failure. His lack of COURTESY towards me and his UNPROFESSIONAL comment, that I should "find another veterinary practice" is the RED FLAG that EVERY person reading this should "GET" from my review! THIS IS NOT OKAY! YOU cannot make it okay simply by reading an employee's narrative from a chart! That cannot adequately convey the issues I needed to discuss. But not the good folks here. They care about the fuzzy patient the most, and what's best for them, from little too long in the tooth. Here is why: Gary is a formerly homeless doggo from Missouri with a major back leg and hip problem from a botched emergency surgery after being hit by a vehicle. The Missiouri surgery was done poorly and there was apparently near zero aftercare during the foster months before I adopted her. So, Gary came to her forever home here in Austin with a withered rear leg and permanently dislocated right hip. I first took Gary to a big Atx vet practice who simply referred to a specialist ortho surgery center. They did an MRI to recommend major prosthetic hip surgery. But neither took the time to actually explain things, offer any alternative options, or even really just listen. So at both steps I felt kinda railroaded and definitely frustrated. This is why I took Gary to Windsor Park Veterinary Clinic for a second opinion. There, Dr Hein took lots of time to evaluate my pupper, inquire about practical things like her likely future activity level, and really examine all the previous diagnostic info. Dr Hein then took lots of time to SUPER CLEARLY explain what the previous vet and ortho specialist didn't -- what exactly a full hip replacement would entail, the possible benefits and definite risks, and the specific pros/cons of that versus a simple amputation. Dr Hein is taking time to really understand my goals (no more chronic pain for Gary, low risk of future complications, a long life of neighborhood walks and couch naps, etc) to create a plan that I fully understand and that Gary can agree with. From our very first phone call through Oso's surgery and recovery, every member of the team was absolutely fantastic. Everyone we spoke with--both on the phone and in person--was compassionate, knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely cared about our dog. They communicated with us every step of the way and kept us informed throughout the entire process, which gave us tremendous peace of mind. Oso has separation anxiety and can be quite vocal when kenneled. When I arrived to pick him up, I could hear the staff talking to him in calm, reassuring voices and treating him with such kindness. I loved that I was able to complete all paperwork from my end online prior to my dog's appointment. It turned out that rather than a tumor it was an atypical cyst that was much more difficult to remove especially because of its location (near some major blood vessels). Immediately after the surgery I received a call from the vet with a detailed description of the surgery and how our dog did. I had an opportunity to ask questions and all were answered thoroughly. After discharge, I received a text the next day,asking how our dog was doing. I also received a call from the vet at one and two weeks post op. It was a fairly log drive to get there but I would gladly make the trip if we ever needed their services again. Of If I could give more than five stars I would do so. They were wonderful.
