If I could give 1-star for Dr. Asarch, who started this practice, I would, as he missed my skin cancer, and also told me an angioma fibroma on my nose was a "pimple," so I applied his logic to the "pimple" I saw on my forehead/hair line, only to discover later, via a second opinion, that it was, indeed, skin cancer, and required Mohs surgery, including a huge hole to be cut out of my head (see photo). I clearly and directly addressed this with my PA, Kate Harrison, who I had been seeing intermittently, in between my annual skin checks with Dr. Asarch, before switching to a different dermatologist, for my Mohs surgery, after the doctors here breached my trust. So, why 5 stars? Because PA Kate Harrison is awesome, and I have trust in her intelligence, medical competence, and patient-focused personality, as she is extremely attentive to details, and she has done a wonderful job, within her scope of work. Kate has diagnosed and properly treated a number of skin conditions for me, due to my return to my hometown, of Denver, CO, from both coasts, San Francisco - marine climate & NoVA/Washington, DC - humid climate, so my skin needed a fair bit of adjusting, back to our dry climate. Wearing my Peloton cycling gel shorts, that are tight fitting, as well as experimenting with various full-body moisturizers, led to a few breakouts, and Kate tackled all of them, remarkably, as well as recommending tips & tricks, and products for me to use, to solve the problems. In parallel, as I return to walking on the High Line Canal & snowboarding, I've gotten a few corns on the bottoms of my feet (maybe due to my Birkenstocks, maybe due to genetics), and now we have a good cadence, of treating them every 8-weeks, and they are slowly reducing. I'm thrilled with Kate, hence the 5-stars for her. :-) Also, Forefront Dermatology has turned this office around, from a business perspective, since the acquisition, so I'm pleased with this transition away from Dr. Asarch, for this reason, as well. read more

How does one rate a practice when the Dr (Wehlage) earns 5 stars but the medical staff responsible for calling you back and providing or renewing prescriptions is a failure and earns 0 stars. I averaged it to 2 stars. I have one prescription and I had so much difficulty ever hearing back from their office that after 2 weeks, I literally drove to their office 1/2 hour away and sat there for the office manager to see me and get it done. Now I am looking to change pharmacies and get a new scrip for my one prescription and I am over a week into this same waiting game. I may need to change practices simply because NO ONE will call me back and execute this simple task. I needed to get a biopsy. After the biopsy I was notified that the company had lost the sample and needed me to come in to get another sample taken since they had lost the sample. They assured me they would cover the cost of everything since they had lost the sample. Now I am receiving bills associated with this. Calling their billing department was even worse. I have never once had a good experience here. I was an accutane client and had to go in once a month for 6 months, I dreaded it everytime. They seemed to never have any of my information on file I was treated as if I was a new client for my first 3 visits and had to remind them I am currently on accutane, I was told different things about my accutane journey, insurance, and scheduling by at least 3 different people every. single. visit. Team is great. Billing needs so much work. Not the most honest with their customers. I saw Wehlage back in May and she was fantastic. Team was great and I paid my out of pocket cost the day of and was quoted under $200 before I even walked in the door because of my financial situation as a college student of not wanting to spend hundreds on just seeing a doctor and getting an antibiotic for perioral dermatitis. I called the front desk back in May and was told that the billing statements coming in the mail, I was suppose to ignore and they would drop off my account because I did pay in full. The girl I spoke to grabbed a superior and that was confirmed from her I didn't need to pay any additional costs. Here we are in September, still getting billed additional $175 when I was told I didn't need to pay it. Called today and the billing lady just kept telling me it's unfortunate I got misinformation when I was told verbatim that a supervisor told me to ignore the mailed bills and that I had paid in full. I've read many reviews and it seems like this business loves squeezing extra money out of their patients and go back on their word when I was told I paid my bill in full. I'm so disappointed in this company and the condescending remarks by the billing lady that basically told me to kick rocks and pay. Nurses are awesome. Doctors are awesome. I have been an existing patient for years as well as my two daughters. When you call their phone number and want to speak to someone other than the appointment scheduler, you sit on hold for over 12 minutes each time and then they roll you over to voicemail. Very frustrating that you can't get a hold of a live person to ask a question. I have a simple question to ask about a previous prescription that was prescribed to me in the past but I have now called four different times and left two voicemails and no one responds. Same experience with billing as others. Paid copay of $35 on each of two visits, one less than 10 min, the other less than 5 min. Ghost a notice I owed almost $100. My PA can do what was done and address non skin related issues in an appt for a $20 copay. Called and was put on hold to talk with billing, and estimated wait time kept increasing, so I decided to select the option to be called back. Never called back. Called the office and picked an option where I was sure someone would answer. Explained the situation and the person said she would give billing a note describing what I explained and they would call me. Never heard from them. Today I got another bill. Been put on the back burner by these guys for going on 4 weeks. I was supposed to get a prescription in the mail from some weird pharmacy they send it to. I got a call saying theyre going to check with my insurance on it and never called back or sent my prescription now I have called 5 times trying to have it just sent to a local pharmacy which I use and they keep telling me they'll "make a note" of it. And nothing is ever done. I paid my Co pay for absolutely nothing but a sample of shampoo that hasn't helped a single bit. This is the worst experience I have ever had of complete incompetence and horrendous service I have experienced. I am a PT of 27 years and know what customer care looks like. I saw Dr W for a bizarre case. My hands and feet are peeling and they look like rotting flesh. She didn't ask me any questions. Just looked and said a topical anti inflammatory should do the trick ...they called in a topical med. My insurance denied it and said they needed a prior authorization. It took me almost a week and about eight phone calls for them to call in the prior authorization and then they told me I needed to call my insurance company with a bunch of case numbers and ask them what to do. I then called them the next day and just ask them to call in something else. I have been transferred so many times and hung up on so many times I've lost count. It is hands-down, the worst experience I've had. In the meantime, my feet are still peeling like someone exhumed me from a grave. The doctor spent very minimal time with me and basically told me it was stress. So spending a week and still not having my medication is not having to stress? I'm still waiting for my prescription and it will be eight days tomorrow. I'm waiting for my prescription and then I will find a new doctor as soon as possible. Do not go here. read more

I really love the provider and I've seen her for a long time but beware of the their billing. They are not a preventative office; their billing dept told me they are diagnostic only so there is no preventive care for mole/skin checks. Since they've changed to a national company the care is less personal and WAY more expensive than ever before- on the order of a 15 min visit for $650. I would recommend getting a clear estimate of charges before you go. I was very surprised by my bill and of course you can only talk to someone at a central call center. Service and doctors are excellent - I highly recommend Dr. Wehlage and Dr. Twede. Writing because I am currently having a nightmare experience with the billing team. I received a bill in FEBRUARY (it is now almost JULY) and have questions. The doctor mentioned I would be credited for part of my service and this is not reflected in my bill. I have called 7 times since February and spoken to Anne multiple times. Every time I call I am told she will escalate this, email again etc. I have yet to receive a call back, an answer or any news whatsoever on my claim. My husband had an outbreak that appeared all over his body and when we went in the patient room the assistant, NOT the doctor, said to get a blood test and get dressed. Eczema flare up initiated this appointment. I decided to try this one as I've been having trouble finding actual medical dermatologists, aka those who practice medicine over those who want to just do botox, as one of my docs just told me. I went in to see the provider who examined me and mind you, my skin looks and feels bad. She prescribed me an antibiotic which has had little to no improvement, and some lotion. Lotion, from my experience dealing with this, does not do sh*t when in this condition. She didn't really address the rest of my issues. Do not recommend if you have any real skin problems. read more

You really don't want to have to visit a dermatologist due to finding a suspicious spot on your upper lip but, here I was doing just that. I researched and spoke to a friend about my concerns and was guided to Asarch from her and from reviews I had read. I was so surprised to be able to get in within just a few days and not just a little bit relieved. The staff was friendly and made me feel at ease from the moment I walked in. I didn't have to show the PA or doc my area of concern, it was fairly obvious. He did not look at this spot first, however, instead, he looked at my exposed arms and the remainder of my face and my neck. On my left arm was a spot that concerned him so, we agreed to biopsy both this and the one on my face. With the spot on my face, the doc was positive of it being a basal cell carcinoma and explained to me, with great detail, the Mohs procedure that is most successful in removing and minimizing the scar effects for this type of cancer. I was given several handouts that provided additional information and was sent on my with the advisement that the results would be in within a week. Soon enough, I got the call that the area on my lip was indeed a basal cell carcinoma and the spot on my arm was not a concern, thankfully. From here my surgery was scheduled for 6 weeks out at the Englewood location which this review is falling under. My initial appointment was with the Lakewood location closer to home. Staff at both locations were stellar. I went in fully prepared to be spending up to 6 hours as the procedure has that potential; however, I was relieved when Dr. Twede came in 45 minutes after my first slice to let me know that the first cut was able to clear all of the cancer from the surrounding skin layers so, I would be spared anything deeper or wider and would be on my way in a few minutes after he quickly zipped me up with 10 stitches. A week later, I visited my local office to have my stitches removed and as a final step, Dr Twede offers to perform a small laser treatment (at no charge) at about 2 -3 months post op to help with smoothing out the scar even more. This treatment is expected to make the skin return to pre-surgery condition and to make the scar not even noticeable. I won't really know for several weeks and months as to the success of this, as the healing time is quite long, but, I do know that I am grateful for the work of Dr Twede and the entire staff in my treatment and I will be going back at the first sign of anything unusual as well as to have a general skin consultation. I could not have asked for a better experience; knowing all that I needed to before, during, and after my exam and treatments made things so much less stressful. I highly recommend the practice! read more

I've struggled with acne for most of my life, finally said it's time to talk to a professional about it. Paying out of pocket as a new patient cost me $180, which is pretty steep but I thought it would be worth it. Well, once the doctor called me in he looked at my face for a few seconds and said it "must be a good day for your acne because it doesn't look bad", despite having pimples that haven't gone away for months and months now. He then gave me a list of products to pick up on Amazon and sent me on my way. If that wasn't bad enough, a month later I get a bill in the mail for $45. Apparently the "down payment" of $180 that I paid in person out of my own pocket wasn't good enough, and they never mentioned a second bill at the office. You heard right: this doctor's office has hidden fees. Embarrassing. You'd find better skin treatments staring at the sun for 10 hours straight. read more

I've never been to a dermatologist and my husband was concerned about some of my freckles and moles so we went in to get it checked out. The front desk was kind, quick in the processing, and helpful. I read some other reviews and really had very different experiences than what some of the negative reviews mentioned. Maybe it's a new staff? Dr. Tonya and her medical assistant (I can't recall her name) came into the room right on time. Dr. Tonya made us feel comfortable and was extremely helpful and informational. Asarch caused a scar on my cheek from IPL. I went in for IPL for age spots. I asked if there were any aftercare instructions and was told no. I ended up getting a blister on my cheek in an area where I didn't have any age spots. When I called to say I got a blister that popped after showering, I only got a call back from the receptionist who passed on instructions from a doctor. After 1 month when I became worried that It was going to scar, I made an appointment to see a doctor and told them it was follow up from a burn from IPL. They tried to charge me my co-pay, so I again explained what I was there for and they said there wouldn't be a charge. Now one month later, I definitely have a scar and just got a bill for the follow up! read more

In my 68 years, this is the WORST business I have EVER encountered. First, Asarch LOSES ALL my personal information filled out online as a new patient. (Do I now have to fear identity theft?) Then, they have NO RECORD of an appointment I made several weeks ago. When I called (thank God) to confirm my appointment, I found out that I didn't have one; otherwise, I would have made the trip to their office for absolutely NO reason. When I called, I was put on hold, transferred to various people, and had my call dropped. When I called again, I was transferred again to numerous people and finally put on with a woman who was so incredibly rude, demanding my insurance information BEFORE she would let me know when I could have an appointment, that I finally hung up on her. Dr. Asarch did two mohs procedures on me a week apart. When I went in for the second procedure, I told him that I believed the first procedure sight was infected. He was extremely patronizing, patting me on the shoulder and saying, "It's not infected. I've done thousands of these procedures. Trust me." I explained to him that I have had a chronic problem with staph infection, ask him to look in my chart, but he refused. The stiches were removed from the first procedure. When I returned a week later to have the second set of stiches removed, the nurse was alarmed and went to get Dr. Riddle. I had a staph infection! She is always on the phone or unavailable so I took my business to another entity to preform my laser procedure. I would not recommend this place for anyone. I have been looking for a dermatologist that takes my insurance and I called the office asking if my insurance would cover my yearly skin cancer check exam and they told me my insurance covers 100 percent of my visit. I then received a bill a few months later for my visit and called because I thought it was a mistake . They then told me that my insurance doesn't cover my visit so I am stuck with a bill I didn't want. To make my experience worse, I got prescribed a medication at my visit and it took the office over a week to send it to the pharmacy. I called the office multiple times asking when it would be sent to the pharmacy and they either didn't answer or told me they would call me back and never did. Had an appointment to get a wart removed from my hand. Doctor was nice and did his thing by freezing it to death. Ended up getting a huge bump that was very painful for 3 or so weeks. Asarch sent me the first bill without my insurance included for 500$! Went in and they fixed the payment to 300$ for removing a wart...now 8 months later that same wart has come back. I immediately checked it out because I had no idea where it could be from. Evidently, I owed $50 for my appointment over a year ago. I've been seeing Dr. Asarch for over 20 years for cosmetic procedures such as Botox, Juvéderm, dermabrasion and laser. He and his associates are skilled and on top of the latest technology. I was diagnosed with Basal Cell carcinoma and Dr. Asarch performed MOH's surgery. I was worried about the procedure. Dr. Asarch assured me it would go smoothly and not to worry. Dr. Asarch even allowed my partner to stay with me during the procedure. Now, you can't even tell I've had surgery on my nose/face; the scar is almost invisible. I saw a PA who seemed rushed, and I felt like I was impinging on her time when I'd ask a question. The Medical Assistant was adequately cordial, but not outgoing or necessarily friendly (neither was the PA, for that matter.)
