I visited the Greenwood Village location for my annual full skin screening, with Dr. Dajani. Other reviewers stated that their fees are too high. I suppose it all depends on your health insurance. I have a PPO plan and Dr. Dajani is in their network, so the amounts billed are pre-determined by contract, then I pay 20% co-insurance. You will receive a separate bill from a pathology lab for any biopsies they send off. They have signs posted to that effect everywhere. Money talk aside, Dr. Dajani is very thorough and may have saved my life. During my exam, she found three moles that looked irregular/suspicious. She shaved them off right on the spot, a quick and painless 10 minutes with virtually no scarring. Turns out one of the moles was a stage 0 melanoma! She gave me the diagnosis over the phone and was very compassionate and willing to answer any questions. She also put me on the phone with someone who scheduled me for surgery right away. This was after 5:30 pm, a time when most doctor's offices are long closed. Dr. Schleve, their head surgeon, did a fabulous job with my surgery. He was a delight to deal with and made me feel at ease. We talked about travel, Octoberfest and a bunch of other things. Anxiety gone, made the 1 hour surgery go by so much faster. Even the day after, I barely feel any pain. He even said I could resume yoga in a few days if I feel alright. A load is off my shoulders. I can't speak highly enough of this place. Another doctor may have been less thorough, and I'd still be walking around with skin cancer. They are very accommodating in making late afternoon appointments that fit my work schedule. The longest I've had to wait was 15-20 minutes. They always answer their phone. They don't try to sell you on lasers or botox or other cosmetic procedures. What more can you ask? read more

I would steer clear of Cara Mia if you are looking for skin cancer screening. I'm sure they have other strengths but based on my experience as well my daughter's experience in the last few months, they have missed or mis-diagnosed skin cancer and/or pre-skin cancer on 2 out of 2 people for 2 out of 2 visits. That's flat out scary. We both went for 2nd opinions and both of those appointments revealed the fact that spots Cara Mia missed or mis-diagnosed were cancer or pre-cancer as well as some spots Cara Mia wanted to biopsy, were nothing to worry about, for both of us. And on top of that, within minutes of the start of the exam, the Cara Mia started freezing off 7 spots that who knows if they were pre-cancer or not. It felt like there was a lot of up-selling happening but I can't be positive, just my hunch. But most importantly to miss skin cancer is just dangerous on their part. read more

Only 10 minutes allowed for a first appointment, two spots frozen, total bill: $1,058 Toenail cliped and sent to lab, lab result was inconclusive because they took too small of a sample, lab billed an additional $668 even with providing no result. 10 minute visit, with insurance, was $550 out of pocket. Worst customer service. Doctor requested I come back in a few weeks to makes sure everything went away. I asked multiple times if the visit was going to be covered. They said it was 100% and was just a follow up. After 4 months I got an email saying I was getting sent to a collection agency if the balance was not paid... I called right away to get this taken care of. After another two months going back and forth with their customer service and billing team they said I there was nothing they could do. I just needed to pay the balance. This place is an awful!! With awful customer service starting from the top down. read more

I recently received Blue Light chemotherapy treatment at Cara Mia Dermatology's Meridian location under the care of Dr. Jason Mammino, and my experience was deeply disappointing.Following my procedure, I was not provided with any post-operative instructions. By day three, I developed a fever of 102°F and had no guidance on whether this was expected or who to contact. I called the office after hours and reached the answering service, but never received a return call, leaving me without support during a concerning situation.Prior to treatment, I was instructed to avoid sun exposure for three days. My husband arranged time off work to assist me during recovery, relying on Family Medical Leave Insurance through his employer. We were informed that the treating physician could complete a simple form to support his leave. However, when my husband contacted Dr. Mammino, he refused to fill out the form and ended the call abruptly. When my husband's HR department attempted to follow up and explain the request, they were also disconnected.As someone with a background in the medical field, I understand the importance of patient care, communication, and compassion. Unfortunately, this experience fell far short of those standards. I did not feel supported during recovery, and the lack of professionalism and responsiveness was concerning.Based on this experience, I will be seeking care elsewhere and cannot recommend this practice to others. read more

I went to have a simple procedure done. Because it was cosmetic, I told them that I would pay out of pocket and to not bill my insurance company. I told the receptionist this twice. I paid for the services with my credit card. About a month later I got a bill of $55 to pay for what my insurance company did not cover. I called Cara Mia and told them that I had paid out of pocket. I explained their error. I spoke with Sara, Felicia, and Rodain (in accounting). I was always told that they understood how frustrating that must be to have not had my payment wishes honored and that they would call me back with clarification. No one ever called me back. I had to call the company on my own over five times. Each time I was apologized to and told that I would get a call back. After a month of this, I decided to pay the $55 even though I had already paid out of pocket the first time. I did not want my credit score to be affected because of them dragging their feet on fixing their error. They cannot be trusted to do the right thing nor call back when they say they will. No return calls from numerous voicemails and can NEVER get a live voice on the line. Front desk or Office Manager won't call back so had to drive to the office twice and still no return calls??? It's been a very long time since I last had my freckles and moles checked out, so I was a little nervous to make an appointment with Dr. Frankel. It did take me a while to get an appointment, had to book it several weeks out but it was simple from there. I printed out my intake forms and had them ready to go when I got there. The staff was very friendly and the doctor was quick and thorough. The location was great too, right in DTC so it was quick to get to from my office. I scheduled a skin check appt with Alison, the Nurse Practitioner, immediately followed by an appt with her as well, for a chemical VI Peel. I do want to say that I love how they schedule appts for each "visit" even if it is a back to back appt. For example the skin check was its own appt, and the peel was its own. Because of that system of scheduling, I didn't feel like the skin check was at all rushed, in order to fit in a peel. Alison was incredibly thorough, and addressed my skin concerns. Making sure any questions were answered. The VI peel was the first chemical peel I had ever done, and she was again thorough in answering any questions, making sure I was comfortable through the process. She explained the benefits of the peel, which peel would be best suited for my skin/skin goals, and what to expect over the next week. I would highly recommend Alison to anyone needing just a general dermatology appt, as well as a cosmetic appt. She was caring, knowledgeable, efficient, and pleasant to engage with. read more

I will never use them again. Dr. Dajani was very nice, however, the costs are ridiculous. I have a high-deductible plan so I was asked to pay $85.00 to just see her. I ended up having a freckle removed. It took 2 weeks for someone to call me back and give me the results. I was then billed an additional $164.00 for my visit, and then ANOTHER $250.00 for a "second opinion" from a third party! I was not even consulted to see if this was ok with me. But of course I am on the hook for the bill! She asked me to come in for a follow up to make sure that she removed the entire freckle and that everything looked right but I'm pretty sure I can monitor this on my own. Definitely not worth another $85.00 and who knows how much more for whatever she decides she's earned from my visit. I will not be back. read more

Pros: Dr. Howe seemed professional and knowledgeable. Cons: Misinformed, irresponsible and non-professional office staff. Scheduled appointment with Dr. Howe in May 2013 for a checkup and to have a spot looked at. He could not identify the details, and sent off a sample to the lab for further testing. I never received a follow up; called back 4 weeks later and was told results were negative, but office informed me I could reschedule a complimentary follow up visit to discuss other options. Scheduled complimentary follow up visit in July 2013; due to 'office paperwork mistake' waited an hour before meeting with Dr. Howe, for a 10 minute discussion. 3 weeks later, received a bill for the supposed 'complimentary' office visit. I contacted the office, and was told no visits are complimentary, and whomever said this was mistaken. Complete waste of time any money. Unprofessional, irresponsible office staff. read more

I was referred to this office by my primary care physician for my acne issues. Everyone says they've tried everything, but I really have! Dr. Howe was great in understanding my situation and set realistic expectations in my improvement. I must relocate for work, and the staff has been great in transferring my care. I've worked consistently with the staff for the last 6 months and, with the exception of one paperwork mistake, they were spot on! Always professional and happy to see patients! I like Dr. Lemon very much, but I have to wait months for an appointment, even if I have a specific concern that I feel should be addressed sooner. She works a very limited schedule, so limited that it is pretty much impossible to see her when needed. I have been going to this practice for almost 3 decades for preventative annual skin checks and in some cases removing possible (pre cancerous) skin ailments. Also some have been malignant but because I get regular checks non have gotten the best of me. My primary doctor is Meg Lemon, which is one of the best rated doctors in Denver for years, and I have also used Dr Schleve, a Mohs surgeon who I also highly recommend along with the practice as a whole. Once you understand your insurance coverage and what to expect for deductibles I have had no surprises and only good experiences. I have had numerous moles, basal and squamous cell carcinomas removed with some having to go below the surface to get clean margins with many on my face and you would have to be a microscope to even seen any scar tissue. Take it from someone who has the experience with this practice to recommend them highly! read more

You know how, when you plan a doctor's appointment, you anticipate mulling around impatiently in the waiting room for 20+ minutes after your appointment time before you even get in the exam room? And then you plan on being in the exam room another 20-30 minutes before your doctor sees you? That's the routine I've seen at any doctor's office, at least. Well, don't expect to catch up on your Facebook or your Twitter or your Angry Birds when you see CO Dermatology Specialists. I've been a patient of Dr. Frankel since late 2013 and I have been insanely impressed every time I've been. I had an appointment recently, scheduled for 9:30 am I believe. I showed up at 9:22, was in the exam room at 9:28, and was walking out with a prescription around 9:37. It may have been earlier, actually - 9:37 was when I looked at my phone in my car. It's not that Dr. Frankel rushes you in and out. She is just prompt. She is on time and efficiently answers questions. She doesn't hum and haw about "well, maybe we could try this..." She says "How about this option? We can meet up if it doesn't work, and then we can try this option." Quick, efficient, to the point. You can literally be in and out of an appointment faster than going to the gas station, filling up your SUV, and stopping for coffee. I can't say how impressed I am with this office. I've been a patient of this practice for quite a few years. I love the Doctors so much that I sent my mother and husband there. I refer people to them all the time. While it may be difficult to get an appointment at times, I called a couple of weeks ago with an allergic reaction caused by another medical practitioner (in a different practice). The appointment they offered (next day, farther office location) was not ideal but I took it because of the severity of the reaction. Once I hung up after making the appointment my phone immediately rang, they had a cancellation for that afternoon. I took it. I really appreciate that they understood my situation and did everything they could to get me in to see a Doctor. The Doctors are all very thorough, professional, and friendly. I went in to get a few skin warts removed. One on my finger and one on my elbow. I had to pay $85 dollars for a copay upfront. My insurance is supposed to cover 80% of my copays (they didn't seem to care). The doctor tore up my finger and elbow by not being precise and over spraying his nitrogen solution. I have a scar on my finger and on my elbow. 2 months later I receive a piece of mail saying I have a past-due bill with an extra "late" charge on it... I never received any information about having to pay more money for this awful procedure in the first place! Don't ever go here and waste your money. read more

I have seen Dr Lemon for years, difficult to get in and see her, but never an issue. Just recently I noticed I had a small bump on my leg, called that morning to get in and saw a different doctor. Forgot his name but he was extremely rude and unfriendly. He said it wasn't anything and said he could remove it. Since I am in between insurance, I decided not to have it removed at this time. I also years ago was treated by Dr Lemon for a spot on my nose that was still a concern to me. He said he can zap it with dry ice, but I also decided to wait for the same reason. I received a bill in the mail for a removal of something, it didn't explain what. I called the billing department, spoke with a very, very rude woman. I explained that he did not remove anything, we talked about it, but we decided not to at this time. She spoke with Dr Lemon and I received a message to pay for this unknown removal and I can have my records too. Very rude, uncaring office, will not recommend them ever again. read more

I was referred to Dr. Lemon by my allergist for out of control rosacea with a steroid addiction to topical cream. Dr. Lemon was awesome, understanding and explained everything in detail to me. I have had to make several phone calls to her office and my calls were returned and I was pleased with the time and concern the nurse took to offer alternate ideas to help with my discomfort. I dealt with them with my oldest son and it went well, we had good service, and no issues. However, this is kid #2 with severe enough acne to be seen, we've had issues with call backs, phones being down for weeks on end, prescriptions being filled timely, lost blood work, Iplege not being filled out for the medication. I have sent to more people trying to figure out what's going on to refill a simple prescription. Frankly if it wasn't such a pain to change Dr's we'd have been out the door by now. I will not be going back for anything else once this is done. Poor communication. I'd recommend avoiding them. read more

What a wonderful practice! In addition to my own positive experiences with them, including Mohs surgery, which was performed extremely well, I also need to mention my most recent experience when I brought my mother there. She is now suffering from dementia, so the experience could have been confusing and frightening to her. Instead, it was so positive, from the front office staff to the wonderful Dr. Lemon. Often with a dementia patient, the conversation can just be with the caregiver and not the patient. I was so very appreciative that Dr. Lemon started the conversation with my mom and that she was extremely careful to tell her everything that was going to happen, one step at a time. It's the little things that make a big difference. Dr. Lemon is recognized as a top doctor, and while I am quite certain that the recognition has to do with her medical skills, I am equally certain that it is due to her human skills as well. I had a very positive experience with Colorado Dermatology Specialists and Dr. Serota. I have a hyperhidrosis where Botox has been proven to be my only resolution to calming the condition. As expected, insurance companies are less than thrilled to pay for this treatment.. To add to this frustration, more and more dermatology offices will not even treat my condition because they know how difficult it is to get approval from insurance companies. Fortunately, Dr. Serota and his team made the call and followed up with my insurance company time and time again to ensure I could be seen and have no out of pocket financial responsibility. I do not recommend going to Sorkin Dermatology. They force you to pay an $85 co-pay upfront. My insurance plan does not require any co-pays. I just looked at what my insurance would have covered from my visit and instead of it costing me $20 out of pocket, it cost me the $85. Sorkin taught me a great lesson and I will never be returning. read more
