On June 17, I ate at Ale House with my grandson. We arrived just before 5:00 p.m., and the restaurant was not busy at that time. We chose to sit in the bar area so we could watch soccer. It took an extremely long time for a server to come to our table--nearly 15 minutes before we were even acknowledged. By that point, I was close to leaving. Our food also took longer than expected to arrive, although it was at least correct when it finally came out. I was recovering from a chest cold and had asked for a cup of hot water to drink. After we ordered, our server rarely checked on us, and someone else ended up bringing our food. I even had to flag down the server to request the check, and that took quite a while as well. When I reviewed the bill, I was surprised to see that I had been charged over $4.00 for a cup of hot water. Unbelievable. Was the server just trying to raise the price of the bill or was it lack of common sense? I chose not to make an issue of it at the restaurant because I didn't want to cause a scene in front of my grandson, who was visiting from out of state, and my time with him was important to me. Asbury Ale House (AAH) is exactly what Howell, NJ needed! Hip, great vibe, casual food with great drinks. Excellent staff from seaters to servers. My martini flight was excellent with ranking peppermint #1 and toasted almond #2. My husband ordered an old fashioned with an upgrade to Basil Hayden and the upcharge was only a $1. The menu has so many great options that I can't wait to go back. My Jersey Caprese was yummy on the soft ciabatta roll while my husband thoroughly enjoyed his Aahi tuna and would get again. We attended the soft opening tonight, it won't be open regular hours till Sunday. The place was nicely spread out with large screen TV's not only around the bar area but around the restaurant. It wasn't loud in there considering how many people. We were nicely greeted by our waitress, she made some great suggestions. We were pleasantly surprised by all the choices on the menu. I ordered the drunken chicken quesadillas. It wasn't too greasy or dry, it came with the vodka sauce so delicious! Hubby ordered the ahi tuna salad and was also pleased. They are known for the holiday drinks I got the Sleigh rose Sangria which was fresh, fruity and well balanced. I am so glad they came to Howell, we will definitely be back again soon! read more

Lacks servers. Service extremely slow. Would not recommend any plate with chicken cutlets.. (like salad or tenders) they are dry, way over cooked and thin with no flavor. Consistency is very important in a restaurant. The first time I went here, I ordered their famous buffalo wings, which happened to be plump, juicy, and delicious. Return today the buffalo wings were dried out and looked like they were laying around the restaurant for a few days. It's nice to see something new open up in Howell. Walked in and the place was shockingly crowded, I didn't know what to expect. Sat at a high top in the bar. Someone in our party wanted a nonalcoholic beer and unfortunately, they didn't have any nonalcoholic options or mock tails. The drink menu was also a paper with a QR code that she brought over once in the beginning and I had to send the link to my friends. They definitely need an actual drink menu. Since this was our first time here we decided to split a couple of things. We got the drunken quesadilla, which was pretty good, the Korean nuggets which we loved, the disco fries, which were pretty good, a sushi roll, which I did not like, and the buffalo chicken egg rolls which were okay. It was definitely enough food for us and a variety. It did take a while for everything to come out, but we weren't in a huge rush. We also shared the brownie and cookie dessert which was kind of underwhelming and also did not come out hot. They have a lot of fancy and elevated drinks with props which was interesting. I got the Asbury Ale burger. DAMN! that's a good ass burger. The smashed burger patties with perfect crisp, bacon just right cook to not cut up the roof of ur mouth and the sauce. Really disappointed with the experience we had at Asbury ale House. i've been coming here since they opened and had many wonderful experiences with the food and the service however, last night my friends and I decided to go out to celebrate, we waited 25 minutes to be sat when the place was practically empty because they wanted us to sit at the bar yet we were a group of five and there was no room. Our waiter jonny was very rude from the jump. Battling back-and-forth with my friend about the wrong drink he had given her, rather than simply remaking it or giving her a new one. Following that I received the wedge salad that had no slab of bacon on it when I asked kindly if there was supposed to be bacon on it, They told me they were all out. That would've been great to know prior to ordering it and instead gave me three small slices of regular bacon. I paid full price for a meal that was not what I ordered. The service was absolutely horrible and this will be the last time I go back to this place unfortunately. The servers and manager seemed to have much more in their plate than simply being kind to guest. I have never been in such a hostile environment before nor after such a great celebration.
