Have been going here for decades. The hosts ( short bald guy and really old dark haired woman ) are always rude but last night was the worst. I thought hosts were supposed to welcome you into the establishment. Not these two. We asked to sit outside at a low table. Were told she only had a high top. Said it would be 10 minutes Meanwhile there were 3 low tables available. When my husband questioned the guy he said there was only 1 server so only 5 tables could be served. So why could we get a hightop. Makes no sense. Pour House used to be our go to place but the quality of food has plummeted while the cost has gone through the roof. Menu never changes We left and tried the Local House at the end of Sycamore Ave. Had a lovely meal and will be making that our new spot. Good food and lovely people. read more

Let's talk French onion soup- the perfect cheese with frizzled onions on top equals delicious. The nachos have chili, lots of cheese, jalapeños and all of the toppings you can imagine. No wait which was nice. Say in a booth by the bar. They had a specials menu which we ordered the Captain Bob's seafood sampler with a side salad. It took a very long time for it to come out. When it did, it looked promising. Unfortunately, it was all very average and bland. Soggy corn on the cob and the a rice pilaf that had zero flavor. The shrimp, fish, and crab meat was not seasoned. Always a great meal here. The menu is huge with a lot of options too! Grab a bowl of popcorn on your way to the table (be prepared to wait a little bit...it's worth it!). After detouring through Red Bank (power outage as some idiots released mylar balloons next to a power substation!) we arrived. Giant parking lot, nice outdoor dining area too. The Pour House in Tinton Falls, NJ just completed their renovations. Added outside dining and another room inside. The food tonight was delicious. The French Onion soup was flavorful, cheesy and hot. There were 3 shrimp tacos packed with toppings with a side of fries all very fresh. Husbands burger was medium rare (pink) on the inside with fries and coleslaw. Came out just like he wanted it. Our friends platter of a broiled chicken cutlet, broccoli and rice was more than enough to eat and the chicken was moist. Service was spot on. Waitress attended to all necessary needs and was attentive to our needs. Highly recommend this restaurant, don't think you'd be sorry read more

We went for their Octoberfest and were really impressed! The service was great, the food was quite good. My wife was a little disappointed that her salad had so much white lettuce. The sauerbraten was tasty and portions were large. The wait staff happily provided extra gravy. My daughter loved the Wiener schnitzel and my grand liked the sausage sampler. I ordered the special for the day: New York Strip Steak. It came with soup ( I chose white bean), salad (I chose shrimp & egg), and a side (I chose mashed potatoes). The soup wasn't what I expected; It tasted more like a Pasta Fagioli sans pasta. The salad was perfect- crisp and cool. The steak was perfectly cooked per my request (medium rare). The mashed potatoes came with butter and I also had au jus. They were freshly whipped and absolutely delicious. I also had a sangria and it was flavorful and was the right amount of sweetness. The hostess and waitress were prompt, polite and friendly. My one complaint is that the restaurant is currently being renovated. The booth seats sink very low and when someone is sitting in the next booth, it feels like they are pressing their back into your booth. I'm hoping that when the renovations are complete that the booth quality will improve. read more

I have been going to The Pour House restaurant for many, many years. I've always enjoyed the food and service. Tonight the food was great as always but sadly the service that I thought at first was good turned out to be terrible. I was sitting with my friends I hadn't seen in quite a while and we were having such a nice time talking as we had finished our dinner 8until our waitress came and told us that we needed to leave because the table was needed. She said, "the line is out the door." I was shocked but my friends and I decided to leave. As we were leaving we noticed no "line out the door." This made me speak to the hostesses about the issue and then call the manager. All of them said the waitress was wrong and apologized. This have NEVER happened in all the years (over 30) that I have been going. Was it because we were not of a "lighter hue" in skin color? Because she wanted more tables and tips? Is this a regular practice? Why is she allowed to speak to customers this way? Is she the owner? And even if she is, is that how you keep business? I know this review will do NOTHING to the bottom line of this business and things will keep on going as usual and I'll get over this. I have to. One rude person won't spoil my life or how I treat people. In fact, I hope she enjoys her vacation to Ireland that she told us about. But shame on you Pour House for letting this continue. read more

It's been 2 years since my last review. The renovation is complete and it's still great. It's Oktoberfest, if you haven't been here for that you're missing out. We had baby pirogies honey mustard and Swiss cheese pork chop, with amazing potato pancakes, the October beer selections are great as well. They do not take reservations so prepare for a wait but if you can find a seat at the bar just eat there. Still my favorite Bar Restaurant for 40 years, that says a lot. My family and I have been customers of the Pour House for years because it's right around the corner from our house. Unfortunately, we have been having "small" poor experiences for the past year culminating in major poor experiences in our last two visits at the Pour House. Long and grossly inaccurate wait times, smaller and smaller food portions, poor food quality/running out of menu items, and most recently a miserable attitude of front end staff/mgt seem become the norm lately, which is sad because The Pour House was one of our favorite spots (my son calls it the "Popcorn Restaurant "). Given these changes, I think we will be patronizing MJ's more frequently even though it's a bit farther from home (at least until the Pour House can work out its problems).. read more

I stopped by The Pour House recently and got The Thin Vinny which was ridiculously and surprisingly good! It was a delicious bunless homemade veggie burger topped with melted cheddar jack cheese, sliced avocado and chipotle mayo + a shrimp and egg side salad. This plate was filling, tasty and creative!! I also had a frozen margarita which came from a machine and was delightful. I sat at the bar and there was a very healthy Friday lunch crowd. The bartenders were attentive. We wanted to meet in the middle between our two homes, so my friend chose this location and it was a lovely spot to sit and catch up w/ friends while enjoying a lovely lunch! We went here the other day and I have to say, I am very impressed with the food and food quality. The menu is a pretty decent size with really reasonable prices. The place isn't too big and we waited. But not for too long. There was also indoor seating for the wait area. I had the sautéed cajun chicken alfredo and it was very good. There was a lot of flavor and chicken in this dish. It also came with a soup and side of garlic bread. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the dish was pretty big. The leftovers still tasted great the next day. The service here is great and the servers were very respectful and quick. There is great free bread here to start and they will bring more if you ask. Overall an excellent experience and a worthwhile visit. I highly recommend coming here to eat some delicious food! read more

I was here about 8 years ago. The rooms are about what I remembered them to be. It seems the only major difference is the large tent for outdoor dining. There's not much different going on here. The service, the ambiance, the food and the prices are ok. It's a middle of the road venue, nothing really bad and nothing really good. I would go back again to get a little bit more insight, but as of now it might be another few years before returning. There's no need to explain the types of food. Very disappointed with my last visit, usually love this place it's a go to for me. My friends and I don't get many chances to see each other and we always go to the pour house when we get together. We went to order apps and we always get a pitcher is sangria when we visit, it's one of our favorite things. The new young male waiter we had was checking our id's when suddenly he said he was not serving us because he apparently heard us talking about how they were fake. When in reality our conversation was about how my friends ids were still vertical and I had the horizontal. I told them I ordered mine on the dmv website rather than waiting in line. Mind you we are 22. I understood the fact that we look young and he didn't know how to check ids so we asked him to have someone else check it. We also tried to explain what we were actually talking about rather than the 10 secs he listened to our conversation and thought he was smart. Tried arguing with us like we were lying instead of just simply bringing our ids to the manager. Did not like the fact that he was talking to down saying the manager is going to take them away if they are fake. Yet again, we kept insisting for the manager to check them because they are not fake... if I had a fake id number one I wouldn't be an idiot enough to talk about that in front of you. And number 2 if they were fake I wouldn't have been insisting for a manager to check it. He then brought them to a manager to check it. (which takes 10 mins btw) the manager comes back, gives us our ids, says nothing, walks away and then turns around and just rudely says "but we are not serving you" Very unprofessional way to handle it. Obviously regardless of me being the legal age to drink places can always refuse to serve you so I didn't argue back. But, I thought if they were fake they would be taken away? So obviously he knew they weren't, so not really understanding the attitude. Also, if you don't not have a staff that knows how to check ids, you should have an id scanner then. You literally have a bar in the middle of your establishment. You should have one anyway. this is one of my favorite places and I'm not sure if I will be back now. But I guess if I do I will have to bring my passport, birth certificate, and probably my social security card at this point. Mostly upset with the way this was handled. Especially by the manager. Side note we never got the appetizer before we left when he refused to serve us. My friend still wanted to be nice and offer to pay for it. The same manager was incredibly rude to her when she offered. Get a better manager. read more

The Pour House is one of my most favorite restaurants. We have been going to the Pour House for over 40 years. They have the most expansive and delicious menu between their regular menu and their daily specials. Everything is always delicious and with large portions. But my most favorite is their cheddar burger with their own cheddar sauce. It is the best burger I have ever had anywhere. They have recently renovated and expanded and they are always busy.
