    Buffalo cauliflower
    Mike M.

Came as part of 7,000 mile 32 city summer food tour. Enjoyed overall. Ordered the Buffalo cauliflower which had nice flavor but didn't have a breading or batter. Traditional Reuben was on the forgettable side but the patty melt was one of the better ones I ever had. Bread was toasted nicely and the onions cooked to perfection

I was out and about and decided to check this place out while I was in the area. I absolutely loved it! I can't say exactly why I loved it. But just walking up to the front porch made me happy. There is a huge porch where you can dine outside if you prefer. The inside is small but super charming. They didn't have a huge selection of beers but they had enough of a selection to make most people happy! I chose to try the Brown Ale. Loved the name: Mi Prerogative. Fun! The beertenders were super nice and attentive. I was starving and the food smelled absolutely incredible! But I knew I was eating later so I skipped the food. I will definitely be back to check out the food!

I can't say enough amazing things about this brewery. During the Pandemic I would make sure to get beer from them, to both support their business and because their are beer, specifically their sour beer, was the best in metro Detroit. Their menu is small, however everything is amazing. You can't go wrong with their nachos, especially the guacamole which I have lustful dreams about. The sour beer here is bananas amazing, and they have beer with some banana stuff in it as well. The only negative things I could say, I wish they had a bigger menu because they do such a great job and they would do tacos more. This place is a must, must, you'd be a silly Susan not to stop in.

This place has been on my list to try for a long time. I had high hopes as reviews were quite positive. I really wanted to like this place. Aesthetics were nice, outdoor seating, rustic interior and a casual vibe. I don't prefer the walk-up ordering, but I didn't want that to sway me even though it did. It feels very rushed to have to look at a menu on your phone, pick out all your food and also try to choose your drink selection. People line up behind you and it is uncomfortable to make someone wait behind you. We choose a chicken sandwich, fried spicy cauliflower, truffle fries and a burger. While we waited for our food, we noticed that there is no table service and you have to order refills by getting in line again. The line, was at times, about 4-5 people deep. This style of service just doesn't lend to a relaxing outing. We sat for a long time and noticed that there was food up by the kitchen area window just sitting there by a nearby fan. There was a runner that appeared to be the person that was supposed to be delivering our food. But, he was conspicuously absent and we spotted him outside talking to some people for a long time. Fearing the food would be very cold, I went up to the bar person and asked her to see if that was our order. It was and when we got our food, all of it was cold. The burger was dry and overcooked and because everything was cold, all the food fell flat. The cauliflower bites had potential, but too cold to enjoy. Just as a note, the guy that was supposed to deliver food orders was still outside talking to a table of people for about 25 min more. Sadly, the casual atmosphere seemed to extend to poor service. In summary, this was not a good experience, the food was forgettable and the service, or lack there of, just made things worse. I don't like giving lackluster reviews and I do want to support restaurants, especially local. But, they can do much better. This review was about a 2.5 star, but rounded up!

    Truffle fries and bacon board

Small place, clean and great staff. Quick with a smile and to offer help. Kind of smells funny in the room at first but it's the stills, I think. Their COVID precautions are good thought they aren't limiting capacity. It's a popular place that was full by 6:30, when we decided to leave. Surprising for a Tuesday but understandable once we tried the food. Great little menu. I tried the truffle fries and bacon board. Bacon was a bit burnt but I liked the concept. The fries were very well done and good. They came with garlic sauce for dipping. The half order of pork nachos was perfect for my friend and all was excellent with the drink selections. To drink I had the Cubert which was their sour. It was good but only in a 12oz so had to have two :) My friend had the stout and kept it to one since it was 10% abv. We could have hung out there all night but chose to surrender our table to the crowd that was forming. Easy to find, plenty of parking. Good spot to meet friends.

Second time here, and we love this place. If you like sours- this is the place for you! Always a fun, and fruity line up of sours, available on draft and in togo cans. Today we did the pretzels, which are always a hit. Soft and salty goodness, and the ranch they serve with them is delicious! I did the grilled cheese with tomato soup, and my husband did the Cuban with onion rings. Both were delicious, and pro tip.. save your ranch from the pretzels to dip your fries in! The only Downside is it is a bit on the expensive side- however, in todays economy that's to be expected... and it's all quality food and brews.

Flights and Mac and cheese!!!! Yummy!!!

We had been here a couple of times after they opened. We absolutely loved all of the offerings. The Mac and cheese was our FAVORITE, hands down!! We then rescued a pup that has separation anxiety and, knowing what came with that, we had to give up many an outing, until we found Bring Fido, and it has been a blessing. When we saw Ascension was pup friendly we had to come back for the Mac and cheese, and the beer!! Pure decadence! We were absolutely not disappointed!!! Better than before! What really rocked our world was the Tropicandy!!! To die for! Now that right there is one of the best palate pleasing refreshments we have had in quite some time!!! We loved it!!! Bought a 4-pack! And our server Hailee was the best! Super friendly and answered all our questions with ease! Can't wait to get back for more!

Beer selection is amazing, it's ALL made in house!! The beers on tap are amazing choices. Love that there are no national known brands here, which is a win. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, I LOVE that I can buy the staff or a complete stranger a beer - never seen that before but I'm in love with the concept. The Peach Bruschetta was refreshing and delicious, recommended by my bartender and very much appreciated! For the entree it was another staff choice, The Nashville Hot Chicken Sliders and again a win! Just the right level of spice, I should have got the truffle fries though - missed out in that, poor choice on my part. Why doesn't this place exist in San Antonio?! I'm loving the vibe, food and especially drinks and it makes me happy!! Special thanks to Lucas and Kyle!

Love this place great outside and inside area/ dog friendly patio/ my husband liked the beers / i thought the food was ultra greasy / server was pleasant and attentive

Don't miss this sign! Great beverages & food within!!!
    Raymond A.

Although the sign was hard to see we GPSd our way to great beverages and amazing food!!! Our server was quick to get us started and then the place got BUSY. The food portions were ramped-up and neither of us could finish! She had the 1/2 order of brisket nachos and two seltzers and I had the Ninja Pig and two Gose! Ahhh-mazing flavors! Interesting crowd...must be kid friendly because there were a bunch at 5 on a Friday. We'll be back!

Good beer, good nachos, and the bartenders were nice. Came here on a Friday evening around 6 and it was pretty full but we found room to sit at the bar. The menu looked good and I will be back to try other food!

Side Salad with Cucumber Wasabi dressing
    P J.

Ascension Brewing is a neat place tucked into a corner of a group of buildings. There is outdoor seating as well as indoor. The staff was friendly and gave great recommendations. The La Manana hard seltzer had a pineapple and coconut taste. It was awesome! We had the Ono Chicken burger and the Mango Jalapeño Burger with a side salad with cucumber wasabi dressing. The chicken was cooked well, the pineapple was grilled with a sweet taste combined with the teriyaki dressing. The best part though was the whole seed mustard. It helped make the burger. This is a burger that we will order again. The fries were very good. For the Mango Jalapeño burger, the jalapeños had a slight kick, but the mango was very mild, almost missing. I would probably skip this one in the future. The side salad cucumber wasabi dressing was delicious. I would highly recommend it. With the miss on the jalapeño burger and the fact that the dishes we came to try were not available, I am judging this as a 4 star. We will try the restaurant again in the future and will be open to changing the rating.

Ask the Community - Ascension Brewing Company

Do you have a heated outdoor patio in the winter?

Yes we do! It’s actually an outdoor hallway-style area. It’s kept at 72 degrees and is real cozy-feeling but still allows us to maintain some distance between guests.

    Does this brewery allow dogs?

On the patio, yes. They must be leashes though.

The food always tastes fantastically fresh, and the beer hits the spot. I've had the reuben (so tasty) but the grilled chicken sandwich really absolutely blew me away. I didn't know it could make me so happy. On this occassion, I ordered the half-size caesar salad with grilled chicken, and I could feel happy and content that I'd gone the healthier route while still treating my tastebuds. Also, as if to go above and beyond in service, I had a nearby meeting and placed my take away order before my meeting kicked off, telling them what time I expected to be done. When my meeting finished? A freshly made lunch was waiting for me. Magical. Game changing. So happy. The only caveat I could say that it has a very small seating area, and, depending on whether or not there are conference-type events in VistaTech, it can get very busy very quickly. For that I would potentially knock it down to a 4.5 star, but the food and beer quickly makes up for it. So happy to see these kinds of food offerings to Schoolcraft's campus. They've done a stellar job, and it'd be nice to see them expand.

The portions are large, you get your money's worth, even if the food itself is not super imaginative. The salads are my favorite, and are large enough to share. The Chop salad with steak and shrimp is very filling. The Greek with chicken actually comes with a good amount of toppings, not just a single beet or pepperoncini pepper on top. The service is always great and staff is friendly and accommodating. Splitting bills even for a large group is not an issue. If you're there on a weekend night for the live music, the dance floor area can get packed. The crowd and vibe depends on which band and music genre is playing.
