My procedure went fine. But six months later I am still dealing with the after effects from my overnight stay. Nightmares, panic attacks, crying uncontrollably, all of it. My night nurse I still don't understand it. I begged for help and she would just walk out saying I was fine. Uncontrollable sweating, panic attacks, muscle cramps in my back and legs. She said oh your fine and left. At some point when I started to disassociate and sat there weeping she brought me Kleenex so there's that. When I finally asked if I could call a friend to bring me Tylenol and heart burn meds she said okay okay I'll talk to the doctor, two hours later she brought me Maalox. I could continue about how after 12 hours of losing my mind I finally unplugged my IV so I could go to the ER for help. Seton doesn't care. I would give it zero ! The triage nurse (Lynn) got very snappy and rude with me off the bat ! She started to ask me questions and I was answering them and I had my laptop and asked her if they had wi-fi. She snapped at me and gave me a nasty look and said" LOOK her I am not going"Then she stopped. because I gave her a look , like what the hell are you talking about .? She was very rude! Later when I got admitted , I had to drink water because i started t have chest pain and she started to follow me and asked me what I was doing? #1 She was the admitting nurse and should have not even been in the back, and she wasn't even my nurse. But I replied. I am getting a drink of water . She started to attack me and told me" Im going to tell the doctor on you " She kept following me and just ranted off her mouth. I finally found a coco-cola machine with water , and If I don't have it it my chest gets really tight. I continued to get change at of my purse and ignored her mouth, She was fuming with anger because I would not do what she wanted and she acted like a pathetic drill sergeant. One of those uptight bitter nurses who should not even be around patients. I forgot that the last time I was at this hospital the doctor was trying to call my other doctors in Florida because they are so Incompetent and did not know what to do , they sent me home with a GI bleed and I went to another hospital and had surgery , but it was only because of my surgeon in florida . I had to go to another hospital and I called my surgeon who told them to do a endoscopic surgery , and sure enough I had a GI tear. read more

A dangerous place. Nurses with inadequate English proficiency. I was absolutely unable to communicate with my wife's nurses several times because their accent and working vocabulary was so bad. Dangerous, no other way to classify it. Policies completely inconsistant. One day I'm cut off from my wife's health information because she was mad at me...regardless of the fact that she was completely delusional. Big song and dance about how they must protect the patient's rights, etc. Two days later a family friend calls the room and the aide answers the phone and proceeds to tell the calller exactly WHY my wife is in the hospital and what her condition is...this to someone that my wife, in any state of mind, did NOT want to have that information. Yeah, truly professional. Are you a vegetarian? DO NOT GO HERE. A vegetarian meal to these people is the regular meal missing the meat entree. That's right, you won't get an entree, you'll get carrots, rice and corn. That's it. "We're challenged by a vegetarian diet" I was told by the clinical dietician. Of course, you can always call the patient representative. It's a sterling example of the short stick from a disgruntled and disinterested individual. My experience with this hospital leads me to my opening statement. A dangerous place. DO NOT let your loved one go there. read more

I had an appointment and had to wait well over 30 minutes before seeing the doctor only to be told I have to go home and come back or possibly reschedule! If I had been told when I made the appointment to bring certain documents I would of brought them. I am annoyed to say the least. read more

I arrived this afternoon right at 5pm. I had a blockage in my stomach called a good bolis. I was in a ton of pain. I was taken back to a room within 30 minutes. Professional and caring nurses took very good care of me, very quickly! Not to mention a doctor that made everything move fast. I had lab work, fluids for dehydration, x ray within an hour and was on my way to have an EDG to remove the blockage. Surgeon and staff in the OR were just as amazing. I'm from Fort Worth and completely out of my comfort zone. They made me feel important and cared for! I can't thank them enough!! Out of the hospital and back at my hotel within 3.5 hours. read more

** This review is from February 2015. I only now noticed that it was "saved" rather than "posted". The hospital itself was fine. Nurses and support staff were very friendly. The actual doctors they chose to employ were despicable. I've been twice in 2 years. Returning most recently (despite the original bad experience) because it's the closest and it was, well, an emergency. Most recently I visited Dr. Douglas Schneider. The hits: He was not gentle and did not have any bedside manner. He ordered a CT scan without telling me which I declined when the tech came to collect me. He returned to inform me that I couldn't return home and that it was either a CT scan or straight to surgery. Ok, so now I'm scared enough to get a damn scan. Turns out there's a third option of declination of treatment. Turns out ordering a CT scan is excessive given my symptoms. According to further research, I was charged $10,000 for something that could have been resolved for $300 at a doc-in-a-box. Lastly, my girlfriend reported that he continually stared at her during my examination and made awkward conversation in the hallway when she inquired about my status. Next time something requires a hospital visit, I'll just rub some dirt on it. read more

Excellent experience in the surgical center (cataract surgery). Everyone we encountered was friendly, helpful, and professional. Many hospitals have programs to ensure that patients have a good experience, but this often results in inane checklists, canned questions, etc. But Seton NW is getting it right. I was diagnosed with polycythemia today. I need to have a pint of blood taken. I am very uncomfortable. I denied help by the emergency room at 11113 Research Blvd. I walked out of Seton Round Rock because they would just left me there. These hospitals are terrible. Living in Texas, you are subject to a variety of exotic conditions and ailments that you would not likely pick up in California. Well, one night I woke up and I couldn't swallow. I simply could not swallow. So I slipped out of the house and drove to Seton Emergency Center where the staff was friendly, helpful and very sympathetic to my condition. They examined me, gave me a shot of some kind of anti-inflamatory and sent me home with antiobiotics and I soon felt better. At first, I was a little wary of a hospital in Texas, but this experience eased those concerns. read more

I had a baby here in January and had an amazing experience. I had previously had a baby at another competing hospital in 2011 and thought I had a good experience, but Seton it was so much better. All of the doctors and nurses were so attentive and helpful. They all respected our wishes with no questions. The hospital is very mother/baby & breastfeeding friendly. No one offered or gave us formula. A lactation consultant came to check on us as soon as we were moved to postpartum. I was shocked because I never even saw a LC at the other hospital and I was struggling with breastfeeding. The food was even pretty good at the hospital. I was highly impressed with the quality of care. It was obvious that they wanted to please us and cared that we were having a positive experience there. If we need to use a hospital in the future, this is the one we will visit. read more

The hospital as a whole isn't that bad... a little off-putting but nothing horrible. That was, until, I went to the ER a month ago, during a Sunday afternoon, due to excruciating lower back pain. I've had pain issues over the past 2 years but have had good control over it due to bi-weekly visits to my chiropractor. However, the day before, I was tubing and somehow pissed my back off so bad, I couldn't walk. I was literally hunched over, crying, unable to move. Once I made it home, I took 2 muscle relaxers and about 4 hydrocodones within the span of about 2 hours with no relief. When I woke up the next morning, Sunday, I asked my fiance to take me to the ER because the pain had not subsided. He pulled up to the front doors of the ER and brought me a wheelchair since I couldn't walk on my own. Fast forward to the doctor actually coming into the room. I tell him what's happening, trying to explain the level of pain I'm experiencing and that I'm not sure what I did to hurt myself. I tell him what I took the night before and he interrupts me and seems more interested in where I got those meds rather than the fact that they didn't work to ease my pain. He kept asking where I got the meds and why did I take so much and I immediately see that he's starting to view me as some drug addict. I contact my chiropractor via text and he calls to see what's going on and offers to talk to the ER doc. At first, this put me a little at ease because I know ER docs can treat pain easier if they can see it; but back pain is different. I asked the ER doc about vicodin since the hydrocodone's weren't working; he interrupts me and says "I'm not giving you vicodin for sitting in a tube all day" which I thought was horribly rude. He asks me to sit up and sit with my legs hanging off the bed; he touches the upper part of my spine and asks me to turn my head to the right...that's it. That was his "exam." He states he will give me morphine and valium to calm me down. He leaves for a bit; I receive a valium and a shot of Dilaudid (a hydromorphone) in my hip. At this point, I'm trying to get up and move around the room because my chiropractor had advised me that when my muscles tighten like this, I need to try to move. My fiance had to help me up and get me moving in the tiny room. Mind you, I'm still in tears because every step, every breath, everything is excruciating. About 30 minutes later, the shot has not taken affect and I'm lying on the bed. The ER doc comes back and I'm telling him the shot has not worked, it hurts to move, even lift my legs. He stands up and tries to forcibly make me lie flat on the bed by pushing on my shoulder and leaning the bed back. I stop him immediately because he's causing me more pain; he looks disbelieving the entire time I'm with him. He tries to lift my legs himself and I stop him with my left foot 2 inches off the bed because it hurts too much. He gets a call on his "doctor cellphone" and leaves the room. When he comes back a few minutes later, I call my chiropractor so that they can speak to one another. After they spoke, the ER doc comes back in and says "I'm giving you Tylenol 3 with codeine and hydrocodones." I tell him that's not going to work because what I have at home is stronger. He interrupts me and says "I'm not giving you anything else." And I tell him I'm still in pain, it hurts. He says "you're walking around." I say "because my chiropractor has advised me to do this." He interrupts again and says "well, you're standing up." I counter with "I'm leaning heavily on my fiance, I cannot stand on my own." He interrupts, again, and says "I'm not giving you anything else " (even though I found out later he told my chiropractor he was going to give me a second shot of Dilaudid, which he didn't). He leaves and the discharge nurse comes in with a wheelchair (because I still couldn't walk) and is completely oblivious to my tears and the pain I'm in. So, if you go here for pain and you get Dr. Newton, run. Run to a different room because he will treat you like a drug addict and you will leave in more pain than when you arrived. I gave this place 2 stars because the patient advocate Oscar Benavides was the nicest, most helpful man I've ever spoken to at that horrid hospital. When I called to make a complaint, I dealt with him and he really does advocate for the patient. read more

Be very careful about going there, especially if you have employer-based cruddy insurance coverage (mine is BCBS). I went in due to a lower back injury which was unbearably painful. I was unable to move. They checked me in, took my blood pressure, and stuck me in a room. An hour and a half later a doc came in, examined me, and pronounced that I hurt my back. She prescribed me medicine I already had, and sent me home. I later received a bill from the doctor, which I paid, and a bill from Seton for 950.00!!! Evidently, you get charged 950 just for saying hi to the triage nurse. Literally, all they did was ask me a couple of questions, take my blood pressure, and stick me in a room. For that, they want 950.00. Seton stinks as does our for profit 'healthcare'. I'll probably pay it eventually as their scum payments dept. can undoubtedly screw up my credit. I will be on my deathbed before I go back to them. read more

I'm basing this review on two recent visits. I went into their ER on September 7th of 2012, for complications of extreme high blood pressure. I was very impressed--an extremely short triage (in California, ER triage can be six hours) , everyone was nice, professional, and helpful... Soon, I noticed that all of the staff were very attractive. The female nurses and techs that all rolled in were hot, the guys all looked like actors. For a split second, I thought I was in a TV show hospital. I was waiting for J.D. and Turk to pop in and crack some jokes. My handsome TV doctor was killer--I think he even called me "bro" or "dude". It was very surreal. They lost a star when there were certain admin issues, and a quirk in the scrip my cool doctor wrote me, but it's all good. My next visit, on Feb 7th 2013--I'm not sure why I choose the 7th of the month to go to ER; I just do--was almost flawless. Immediate service--I moved out of triage before I'd finished filling out the forms--very proficient staff. Not TV show looking; just normal people. But very cool, and reassuring. This visit they found some further complications, to which I'm grateful, and for which I bestow the fifth star. They transferred me to Seton Main, which I'll review very soon. The Billing Department...completely incompetent. I had surgery on June 15, 2016. I paid a portion up front, but know better than to pay the full amount before insurance has paid. When I had not received any other bill at the end of October and had a hysterectomy scheduled for December 15, I called to check on it. I had set aside money in my flexible spending to cover anything I may owe for the June surgery, but didn't want it to go to waste. When I called, they said my bill was pending for some reason, but they could not understand why. My insurance had paid on July 1, 2016, so it wasn't a problem with insurance. They asked me to call back in 2 weeks to check on it again. I explained at that time that I had money set aside in flexible spending, but that if they couldn't bill me before that money expired, I was not going to pay. I called back in two weeks. They still couldn't understand what the problem with my account was. I explained yet again that if they billed me after my flexible spending money expired, I was not going to pay the bill. It had already been 5.5 months since my surgery at this point. I had the hysterectomy on December 15 (at St. David's Round Rock), but didn't use they money I had reserved for my June surgery, just in case. I called back the beginning of January and BEGGED them to send me a bill. Yet again, I explained that I would not be paying their bill if they billed me after my flexible spending money expired. They finally sent me a bill at the end of January...and it showed that THEY OWED ME A REFUND of $262. Our insurance company changed on January 1, 2017, so our flexible spending money was put on hold until March 15th and we had until March 31st to use it for expenses incurred during 2016. I FINALLY received a bill for $1007.60 dated APRIL 12, 2017! My flexible spending money had expired at this point. Not only did I lose $1000 that was taken out of my paychecks, Seton now wants me to pay $1007.60, 10 months after my surgery. Of course I called on a Thursday and spoke to someone yet again in billing. They were no help, so I requested to speak to a manager. I was told I would receive a return call in 24 to 48 business hours. The manager called me on a Saturday and left me a voicemail to return their call Monday-Friday during business hours. Obviously, I called them on Monday. The girl I spoke to then, said "the manager wanted me to let you know that she looked at the bill and it is correct." I explained the situation YET AGAIN! I again asked to speak to a manager and was told they would call me back in 24-48 business hours. Still waiting on that call...that was on April 24th. I just received another bill from them, so I felt compelled to write this review. I have spoken to multiple people in the last several months who also have complaints about Seton Northwest's billing practices. It seems they like to bill patients an extra $500 months after you have paid what you thought you owed out of pocket. Interestingly enough, I received my bill from St. David's about a month after my surgery, and that was with 2 holidays within 2 weeks after my procedure. My husband also had knee surgery at St. David's on December 29th, and the bill was received within a month. We promptly paid those. read more

I awoke with excruciating pain this morning and went to the Seton Northwest ER with what I suspected was kidney stones. I was literally in an exam room within two minutes of walking in the door (I was in obvious pain). The ER team quickly converged on me and began treatment, with an emphasis on first getting my pain under control. A quick CT scan confirmed a kidney stone, and they did everything possible to make me comfortable. Every staff member we encountered was not only professional but very friendly and caring. Dr. Martin explained what I was experiencing and checked back several times to stay updated on my condition and the effectiveness of their treatment. Nurse Sandy was always there to check up monitor my treatment, and when I was discharged she gave me a lengthy and very thorough explanation of what was going on, what to expect, and went over each drug that was being prescribed in great detail. And I have to give a special shout out to Daniel; I have a great aversion to needles, and he did a very quick and painless IV insertion when I first arrived and was apprehensive and squirming in pain. There were no negatives to my experience at Seton NW. The treatment was quick and effective, but more importantly everyone was not only genuinely caring but they seemed to operate very well together as a team. I hope I don't need an ER again any time soon, but if I do this is certainly where I'll go. read more

This was the CLEANEST, nicest hospital I've ever been to. It smelled nice! What hospital do you know that smells good?! I had a short stint in the ER today and from the front desk gentlemen who signed me in , to the nurse that took my blood pressure and then the Dr who saw me -ALL SO SWEET, kind, pleasant let me ask all the questions! Also a special thank you to HEALTH ALLIANCE FOR AUSTIN MUSICIANS, for taking such good care of us musicians. I am truly grateful and so happy to share my thoughts of this experience, though i hope not to see them all again anytime soon , pleasant as you all are the ER is not somewhere i want to be often. I had a baby last July. Today, 11 months later, I get another statement from my insurance saying my claim was resubmit. I called them and they told me to call the hospital. I got a run around after calling the number on my billing statement, finally getting someone on the phone who said my account was audited and they saw coding errors which they had to submit to my insurance otherwise it would be fraud. Due to these errors now being corrected I owe several hundred more dollars to the hospital. She told me to contact my insurance to understand my claim but I told her (each time she said this) the insurance told me to call them! Clearly no one cares. While I hear what she is saying, I don't understand how so long after everything has been settled, I am now being told I owe more money. My payment arraignment with the hospital is going to be extended. If I had known this I would have made different life choices knowing I would be several hundred dollars a month short for up to 6 months longer. I had previously had a rather positive view of my experiences here (four stars). Most of the nurses were great... well except for the one who apparently couldn't get a tracing on my contractions for over 5 hours and when the next nurse came in and had a fit she said she had "not been concerned because I was on full dose of pitoctin". (The bad nurse had been floated there from Seton Main). Several hours and a C-section later, I lost consciousness but no one noticed. My husband got the nurse because the blood pressure machine kept going off and everyone was ignoring my blood pressure being 70/50. Turns out I was hemorrhaging. I made a lot of excuses because being in the medical field I can see or understand any one of the above problems. I also had liked how they let me stay a few days for free in my post partum room while my son was in the NICU due to breathing problems (because of my c-section). The post partum nurses were really nice and the NICU nurses were great, except for the one that pulled the curtain between herself and my baby and talked on the phone all day or left another baby alone in the NICU with just my mom in there. There are crappy nurses everywhere, so again, overall the nurses were mostly great. I liked the lactation consultant who agreed that some people like to make a problem where there was no problem.. Some of the nurses were over-eager in their "help" regarding lactation, that I think it was a hindrance to just letting me figure it out. I was doing great, until they were trying to force the SAS on me or trying to readjust the hold the lactation consultant said was fine. Or there was the nurse who didn't like the order in which I comforted my baby. Apparently I should always check the diaper first or feed first or I'm not sure. I just "yessed" them and tried to get discharged as soon as I could and my baby was just fine when we got home. The check in people in the ER were nice and were not upset that I was leaking amniotic fluid everywhere and the food was good. read more

I am having a non-elective procedure here in a couple of weeks and was asked to pay the balance in advance, despite having good insurance coverage. The call center they use treats patients like deadbeat collection accounts, and I got the distinct impression the reps who call receive a cut of whatever they can squeeze out of you. I've never owed Seton any money, but now they demand payment TWO WEEKS in advance and keep calling to find out how I intend to take care of the bill. Four calls in a single day. If I didn't like my Dr. so much, I'd cancel the procedure entirely and go to another hospital. read more

The ER is bringing the rating down. My husband was discharged after he, "promised not to tell he was on morphine", for gallbladder pain. 10 hours later we were back, but now with an infection. The ER staff is lovely if you are homeless and have a morphine addiction. Just show up and say you have, "head pain". Doesn't matter if you don't have a home address or any way to pay, and you've been there multiple times before. My husband was left to suffer for hours even though we handed over our credit card and paid 750.00. Still don't know what we paid for, the receipt did not specify.. we have insurance. 3 hours later, cat scan. 5 hours later, admitted. This is NOT a busy hospital, it is dead quiet. The average wait in an ER in America is 3.7 hours. The number of ERs giving morphine for migraines in this day and age is 25%. Congratulations for making the grade, Seton NW. By the way, no pitcher for water in his room. In the 3 hours I visited, not one nurse came by to ask him if he wanted anything. Horrible! Came here for surgery and only have positive things to say about my doctor, the anesthesiologist with his nurse anestist, and my three RNs that were here. It is also worth mentioning the hospital didn't have any of my blood work when I arrived for surgery. The anesthesiologist thought I was having a totally different procedure that is less invasive and one of his staff members (Laura) called me the day before surgery at noon and said I needed to pay my $100 copay or they would cancel my surgery. Thanks for calling the day before while I'm in school, working and giving me a few hours to pay a measly $100. Everybody else from the CNAs to the cafeteria staff and surgery post op was as RUDE as could possibly be. The nurse who handled my discharge from surgery even made a comment that "I've heard her mother is a real worry wart" while talking on the phone. LOOK HERE - my mother just had a daughter who had a MAJOR surgery. This wasn't a small procedure like an endoscopy. Second of all, my mother already had a daughter pass away as a young child, third of all my mother just lost HER HUSBAND (my Dad) OF 41 YEARS in January of this year. So excuse tf out of her if she is a little worried. I am completely appalled. When I said to the nurse "My mother has every right to worry" she tried to cover it up and say "oh yah, I didn't mean it like that." No, you thought I didn't hear you since I was coming off of anesthesia and had to back track your steps. Too late. On the way upstairs, the volunteer wheeling my bed was constantly hitting walls and it was apparent and obvious this was probably his first time every being around someone who had surgery. He was high strung, constantly trying to talk to me about where he should take me. I don't know where you should take me, you are working here, not me. Secondly, once I got upstairs to recovery, nobody could find my paperwork, nobody knew why I was here or where I just came from. Completely unprofessional. After I did well on the clear liquid diet, they bumped me up to soft foods, did well with those so the nurse said I could have any food I wanted. I ordered a BLT for dinner. Cafeteria lady brought me something completely different because she said the chart hadn't been updated to notate I could have regular food. Two things: 1) you were too lazy to call the nurse and verify that it was okay and 2) you couldn't call and ask what I might want from the soft food menu? You just assume I like canned pears and chicken salad with onions in it? Ok. I have never had such incompetent people caring for me. Had to call several times to get ice water and finally got it after a shift change because the last lady "forgot." Oh! Also, catheter had been removed by the doctor in the morning, about 30 min later, the nurse comes in and says I'm here to remove your catheter and give you IV fluids. I told her the doctor just removed my IV and catheter. She was shocked. Talk about communication issues!!! This is NOT okay to have subpar communication between staff when dealing with people's lives. You can literally kill somebody all because the staff isn't on the same page. I would NEVER come back to this hospital and if I ever need surgery again and my doctor wants to come here, I will not be having surgery. I will be finding a different doctor. The nurses that deserve a special shout-out are Vanessa, Kim and Nancy. They were great. Everybody else made me feel like a nuisance. I'm sorry that you hate your job, but if you don't want to help people, you shouldn't be in the medical field. Thanks for reminding me what true patient care is and what NOT to do and what to look for in a hospital of choice for employment. Definitely NOT seton northwest. Also worth mentioning the air conditioning went out the morning I was supposed to be discharged. Instead of offering another room, fan, anything...they said they would put in a maintenance request. I'll be leaving earlier than I had hoped for. What kind of GHETTO ass hospital is this?!! It's almost laughable. Note to Seton: after reading your other reviews, please don't respond to my post unless you are truly going to address this. I have been through enough emotional trauma with your rude staff talking about my family who was here to care for me far more than your staff ever did. Save me from further suffering, that's all I ask at this point. read more

Went to the surgery center for my son to get tubes. Everything was great until the end. At the end when we were told we can go back to the recovery room to see our son, he was very disorientated and confused, he wouldn't open his eyes and his heart was racing,the nurse was non stop talking and she was loud, the doors were wide open and all the other kids and babies that were crying/screaming had their doors open as well, the lights are of course unnecessarily bright I asked her to leave and give us a few minutes. She left and we closed the doors and turned the lights off, my husband picked up our son to soothe him, the nurse came back in less than a minute later demanded that we turn the lights back on and was being loud again. I told her we wanted a few minutes to let our son wake up and she said "oh he's fine you can take him home now, here are your papers" essentially just telling us to leave. We were in the "recovery room" for all of 5 minutes. I think the nurse gets a bonus for the least amount of time spent in her care or something. I do want to say that everyone else from the front desk to the nurses in the OR and the Dr etc were great. We just got a crappy nurse in the end that ruined the whole experience. read more

They infringe on your rights to what gender of doctor sees you under a gown( a male doctor gawked at my naked body meaning no bra or panties on), they make offensive jokes behind your back and the nurses and techs straight up disrespect and patronize you. Not the greatest experience for my Mother. Wait time after getting to a room, speaking to the doctor, and x-rays was ok but the wait time after that seemed to be hours. No one really introduced themselves as the nurse for care. No one checked on my Mother to see if she was OK as I'm sure they could hear her coughing loudly. We could hear staff laughing and giggling outside the door. All folks want to do is have someone as in a nurse be attentive to a few needs when coming to the ER. At least peek in every now and again to make sure everything is ok and keep patient comfortable. read more

While the hospital and It's staff are great I have to give it 4 instead of 5 stars due to parking. Its 90% full everytime Im here. As an expectant mother who is nearing 9 months pregnant it's very irritating seeing "Volunteer of the Month" parking at the front of the hospital while I have to waddle from the back of the parking lot to get to my doctor's appointment. Kudos to hospital volunteers, but with so many pregnant women coming and going there should be easier access for them to park. read more

We brought my brother to Seton NW when he began feeling ill at home in-between his chemo and radiation treatments for lung cancer. He was experiencing breathing difficulty and was brought to the ER. From start to finish, the Seton NW medical staff, volunteers, and other employees were professional, friendly, attentive, and understanding. During my brother's10-day stay, we dealt with several different doctors, therapists, and numerous nurses. He had one medical procedure performed and was hooked up to as many as 9 IVs at a time and required close monitoring and adjustments to his treatment. At all times, SNW staff were cheerful, prompt, and positive. The MacDonnell family is grateful that SNW has done such an outstanding job hiring, retaining, and motivating top-notch people. read more

Outstanding Emergency Room! Everyone hates having to go to an emergency room. First, just to be going to one means somethings not right and second the wait might kill you before what ails you does. But this place is different. I have been here 4-5 times over the years and have never had a long wait. Usually there is one person in front of you or in some cases no-one! The Dr's and all the staff have been extremely good. I really don't know what to say other than there isn't another er i would consider going to in Austin. To be able to walk up to registration, sign your name, and then be immediately taken back and talk to a Dr just doesn't happen anywhere else. read more

I had 2 c-sections in the last 6 years, they were both at st David's because it was close. I wish I could have come here. I was sent here in an ambulance because I had pancreatitis and a gallbladder full of stones. I was here from Monday-Thursday. The staff was so sweet and made me feel as comfortable as possible. It was so nice seeing friendly faces when I could have felt so alone being away from my husband and children. Thank you for everything you do. read more

I delivered both my girls at Seaton NW and both experiences were extremely different but both were great! I would recommend any one who wants to give birth in a hospital setting but natural to go here. My first birth was feb 2015. I ended up getting the epidural. The anesthesiologist was so funny and made me calm and comfortable! ( I was terrified at first). The nurses were great, the place was clean. My second birth was totally different. With my first I was in labor for 12 hours at home, then 13 hours in the hospital. I had a lot of time to hang out with the sweet nurses! My second... well, I came in right when I felt my contractions bc I though I felt mY water break ( how could I get this wrong?!?). The sweetest nurse escorted us to the room. She was young, just married, and just as sweet as can be. I felt a little nervous, bc I thought maybe she wasn't experienced enough... but wow was she amazing! When they checked me I was only 1cm. I almost fainted when I heard that bc the pain was getting so bad I could barely tolerate it! After vomiting, shaking uncontrollably, and begging her to give me a c-section (yup! Real natural... lol) she checked me again. 1cm still but a little more effaced. She was supposed to send me home, but since I looked, well, I probably looked like I was dying, she said she would keep me for another half hour. In that half hour I started to push thinking I needed to use the bathroom. She checked me again, I WAS 10 cm!!!!!! My little girl cams flying out of me in the next couple minutes! The doctor ran in and caught my baby! All the nurses were there scrambling, they literally were the best group of women I have ever been around in a hectic situation!! I did not hold back! I was SCREAMING at the nurses and then there was my baby! My husband was even with our almost 2 year old on his arms thinking we had to go home! lol so I applaud these nurses for being so great even through my torturous yelling! A few things: when I arrived, I asked to keep my own clothes on. I asked to not have an IV put in. I wanted to feel like I wasn't in the hospital. After birth, I asked the doctor to delay chord clamping for a few min. All of my requests were met with a smile! They really wanted me to experience birth as I wanted. Staying there for a few days was like being at a 5 start hotel! I had remembered that the food was amazing. So when mY first lunch came and it was.... not what I expected, I didn't eat it and asked my husband to get me food. The nurse saw I didn't eat, and had the kitchen make me some thing else!!! It was delicious! The bed is as comfy as possible. The wooden rocking chair will kill your butt and back so don't try and sit in it with out pillows! The shower is tiny but strong water pressure. And the nurses were reading my mind! If you are lucky enough to get a nurse names Row (I believe it's Rowina), just know your baby is in great hands! She would even rock my baby to sleep and sit in the room with her so I could get a couple minutes of shut eye (when she wasn't busy of course). She was the baby whisperer! I can't remember the director or head nurses name, she would come in with questions to make sure the staff was doing EVERY THING to make the patients comfortable. She was a funny lady! But every time she came I really understood how far they go to make us comfortable! I APPRECIATE YOU NURSES AND DOCS AT THE DELIVERY SECTION OF SEATON NW! First off this place is way too small, City got away with not planning ahead for growth. But non-profits are not supposed to let their health infrastructure go threadbare. This area is growing and it's disgusting that the staff wanted us to 'wipe down' before urinating'. Even the public hospital does not require that!! People ought to have their licenses yanked!! read more

I wrote a review back in August, 2010 of our experiences going to the E.R. at this hospital, over and over, TRYING to get the doctors to find out what was wrong that my husband had terrible pain in his CHEST (not throat) while swallowing. Turns out he had esophageal cancer. The wonderful gastroenterologist, Glenn Robinson, who diagnosed him in January, 2010 said he could have cured the cancer and my husband would have been well in five days, had the E.R. doctors admitted him to have his throat scoped a year earlier when he first came to the E.R. Very sad to report, my beloved husband died a very painful death on 28 November 2010 at home of cancer that spread from his esophagus to his spine. He was 52 years old. read more

My son was hospitalized with extreme flank pain on his left side. The emergency room nurses and doctors were awesome. The Internal Medicine doctor took a lot of time explaining what was going on with him and why he was being admitted to the hospital. Once he was moved to a regular room the nurses were so kind and helpful. He was given two sonograms and a CT scan to see why he had so much abdominal pain. Nothing conclusive was found. I stayed with my son all day the first full day he was in the hospital hoping the doctor would come by in the afternoon or evening after he was there in the morning. He never did. The results of the battery of tests he had weren't communicated other than to say his liver enzymes were alarmingly high. He had no pain on the right where the liver is. They checked for kidney stones and found nothing, but I think they may not have checked for pancreatitis, and that causes extreme pain on the left side and can wrap around to the back. On the second day he was in the hospital he was discharged even though the cause of his pain was never figured out and he was still in pain. He was told to follow up with a gastroenterologist and given packets of information with his test results. When he pointed out he was still in extreme pain, he was told to come back if it got too bad. I got the impression they thought he was faking the pain and just trying to get pain medication, and that wasn't the case. I have the feeling we'll be back at the hospital tonight or tomorrow. read more

GREAT E.R. STAFF!!!! Super fast and very sweet nurses... I discovered this amazing hospital in 2007 and anytime I have an emergency this is where I go. PLUS they are a chartible hospital (like all hospitals in the Seton Network) They treat you the same wether you have insurance or not. read more

I went there a few times for my bad pains from scoliosis and they took care of me almost right away and I was impressed. They gave me the painkiller medicines and it did not help me, so they gave me the painkiller via the injections at the next visit. The injections really helped me to manage to sit tight until I was seen by a doctor in next few days. The other time I was visiting Austin (I was still living in Virginia at the time), I got really sick with the bad coughs and the allergies, they checked up on me right away, like the last visit, and it impressed me even more. So, it is the only hospital I will go for the emergency room in Austin. read more

The triage nurse was inappropriate. She asked me twice about a medication even after I told her I hadn't taken it in over 10 years the first time she asked. She looked at me skeptically when she asked me 2nd time. I have been here for over 2 hours. The nurse didn't even assess me when he took me back to the ER room. read more

Went in on Thanksgiving. Took me right away. Very attentive nurses that are always close by. Made some jokes that made me feel better. Doctor took her time getting me out of there but it was Thanksgiving and was pretty full. Loved it here. Its a little older but I would go here with experienced doctors rather than a new one with doctors who don't know what they are doing like Cedar Park. They even have a thing online where you can schedule ER appointments. I couldn't breathe and canceled mine to go in right away and the doctor called me to make sure I was okay and let me know when I came in no matter what time I would be taken straight back. VERY attentive loved the staff. Would definitely go back here. read more
