My worst ER experience. I came in after a hard, accidental knee to the eye socket that left me wondering if I had a detached retina. I sat around for two hours in a waiting room whose seats were cracking, listened to discussions about coordinating lunch breaks, and then went used a stand up urinal whose plumbing was detached, spraying a full load of toilet all over my legs; luckily I was wearing shorts and sandals. That would be gross for a slummy hotel, but definitely not what you want in a hospital! That was the point where I left and went to St. David's in Round Rock, who got me right in to be seen. read more

I came in for a heal spur on my left foot and I also had rolled my right ankle. I waited over 2 and 1/2 hrs before I was called to the back. My BP was 212/130 and I told them I was In some serious pain. I finally saw a Dr and explained to him that my left foot with the heal spur was causing me to have waking problems and unable to straighten my leg well I've been been here frustrated also arguing with some crazy lady that just made me more stressed out but that's not the point! But the service has not improved since the last time I came here and one of the Nurses ran me I to the door I figured they would have improved but I guess not. I'm in a lot of pain and limited to what I can take due to my kidneys. Well I guess I'll see what the outcome is after a while! read more

They saved my son's life! Everyone from the admissions in ER to the ER room staff, and the ICU nurses were angels. I can't say enough about the care and kindness my adult son received when he was at his weakest. As a mother my mind and heart were at peace knowing the kind of care he was getting. One of my favorite childhood roller rink memories includes screaming girls (and some boys too) jumping up and down in skates waiting to see Kerry von Erich's bare (nekked) chest when the D.J. would play Survivor's Eye of The Tiger. Oh, you remember the von Erichs. You can't have been female, alive and living in Texas in the late 70s and early 80s without knowing who the von Erichs were. Kerry was generally considered the best looking one while his brother Kevin came in a close second. Tweens from across the state fantasized daily about at least one of these wrestling brothers (there were six of them!) and argued with each other during recess about which imaginary von Erich "belonged" to which girl (I still don't understand what that was supposed to mean)... Anywho, Kerry made a music video to Eye of the Tiger back in 1982, and I thought it was really racy to see his nekked chest displayed like that on, what I thought, was a really big screen. I remember that the lights would dim then the projector screen would lower. I would scoot to the edge of the floor with my friends because we would most certainly bust our butts if we had to skate *and* swoon at the same time. We stood together speechless as images of Kerry's nekked chest blended into that of a tiger running down some dinner then back to Kerry running in slow-motion... When it was over, I would share my inhaler with my friends, and we would return to the rink, pushing and shoving each other and refusing to acknowledge that we were growing up. I told you that story in order to tell you this one because we're all grown now, and I feel like I should be blunt about my plight. My right arm was recently broken. Reference above anecdote and draw a reasonable conclusion as to how I broke my arm. I am right-handed. My arm is currently wrapped in a hot pink cast from the palm of my hand to well past my elbow. This is a predicament. Watching me attempt to clasp my bra each morning, for now, has got to be a Hi-larious sight. I've so far settled on these simple steps to get the job done. I first grab one end of my bra with my left hand and, while leaning left, toss the other side around my body, kind of like casting a fishing line in a circle. I do this a few times before it takes and am able to use my cast to hold that side in place. I slowly rise and tuck the other side under my left elbow while simultaneosly using my left hand to stabilize the part under the cast...then I squirm around a bunch. Somehow, eventually, I am finally able to get the damned thing clasped and around and through the cast. My hair is getting washed (sort of) in my kitchen sink. In order to bathe, I wedge my scrubby thing between my left hip and the side of the tub then grab, again with my left hand, the bar of soap and am somehow able to create enough friction to produce a sufficient amount of lather on the scrubbie. So far I've learned that, on my own, I cannot floss my teeth. I cannot scrub under my left arm well enough and I certainly can't shave it. Oh, and today I learned I can't open catsup packages. You should see me now, typing all of these words, slowly and with my left hand. This too looks quite silly. I've been working on this review for several hours now, actually (slow work day). But you know what, that's all just a temporary distraction. What's important is that Dr. Francois Gordon is such an amazing E.R. doctor that my sheered radius and split joint he put back together Tuesday night was set perfectly, according to my orthopedic doctor, Dr. Burns. Burns said Gordon set my arm better than Burns set his own daughter's arm! I am also typing all of these words as a celebration to all of the wonderful care I received at Seton because my memory of the event is shady. If I remembered enough details about that night, I would love to share all of them, one awkward letter at a time. Instead, you got the aftermath. I do remember Dr. Gordon, who moved to Austin to play tennis, Matthew, who's going to school to be a doctor, Shardae, who's grace was abundant, and Toni, a red-headed angel. Toni was so funny. At one point, while she was sharing plans with my friend, I heard her say something about "another trauma" and "moving" me. When she came back into the room, I asked if there was trauma coming. She said back to me, "Sweetheart, tonight, you *are* my trauma." And then she let out this warm laugh. And then I laughed. That may very well be one of the nicest things anyone's ever said to me. Time spent writing this: four hours. Time spent at Seton: about the same Seton, your staff is amazing. Thank you for carefully staffing your hospital with the best nurses, doctors, techs and assistants in this city. read more

I had my first baby via a scheduled c-section at Ascension Seton Northwest this past Monday. If I could give this hospital and it's staff ten stars, I would. From the moment I pre-registered with the sweet volunteers at the front until I left with my new son, the experience was great. I don't know how I would have done it without some awesome, knowledgeable and caring nurses, Amy, Molly, Theresa, Marie, y'all were lifesavers and helped me leave feeling as confident as a first time mom can! The lactation consultants were great. Enthusiastic, helpful but not overly pushy. They were a fun group of ladies. The food was good, the nutrition staff was kind and cordial and even sent us home with a sweet little baby spoon and a celebratory meal for mom and dad. Rooms were comfortable. My husband stayed with me for the three nights we were there and we were about as comfortable as one could be postpartum. Keep up the great work, Seton NW. read more

A hospital is the last place you'd expect a reminder of the good old days when all the people in one location were polite, helpful, and engaged. This happens every time I am here without exception. I am consistently surprised at the ease of everything from parking, to the extremely sweet volunteers at the front, to the great signage (I know it's silly, but it's the little big things, ya know?), to the staff, and of course the doctors. The only reason I am not giving Seton NW a full 5 is that it has a bit of a Feng Shui issue circa 1975. read more

About as pleasant a stay in the hospital as a hospital stay can be. I thought there had been an Urgent Care here at the NW location--that's where I was heading, fully charged iPad in hand, prepared for a long wait, recently after coughing my damn head off for so long I was dizzy. No more Urgent Care, just an ER desk. Good thing I guess, since after listening to my lungs they admitted me, the first time I'd been in a hospital since I was 14. From parking lot to a wheeled bed waiting for a room in less than 15 minutes. Some kind of record. I spent 5 days here, and even though I could not wait to get sprung, must point out that virtually every staff interaction was pleasant and professional. The clinical assistants, respiratory techs, nurses and doctors all made it a point to be nice--actually seeming to care how I was doing, what I was feeling, and eager to provide what I needed. Each had a portable phone with a direct extension number which they wrote on a big white board in my room so I could call the right staffer directly at anytime. It was so nice it was almost disturbing. It's a Catholic hospital I think, (judging by the slain prophet action figure on a crucifix on the wall), but not overtly so, and except for one visit by a nice Chaplain guy, I might never have known that. There were 75 channels of cable, an in-room phone and free WiFi; I was really happy I had brought my iPad along, and once friends brought me a charger I was connected to the outside world for the duration of my internment. Even the food was OK (though the Asian Steak entree is not going to put any Asian restaurants out of business) and I had a couple of fish dinners that were really tasty, and even some fried chicken. Breakfasts were passable too, except for coffee. Dietician: " Would you like some more coffee sir?" Me: "Actually, I'd like LESS." If you have to be in a hospital, being in one where you are treated like a human being is a big bonus. Nice job Seton NW. read more

Gees, it's happening again. I really hate it when I have to be the first one to break the 5-star thread here. But I am upset at my experience with the Seton Northwest Hospital's ER, and I feel it is beneficial for others to read my observations. My wife got sick very suddenly, the whole day she was feeling well but around 5 PM she felt a strong fever & chills (her entire body was shaking) and a terrible headache. We measured her temperature- oops, 102 degrees. She felt so miserable that we had no choice but to bring her to the Seton ER room (after reading so many recommendations on Yelp... plus it is like 7-8 minutes away from our house, so convenient). We got there around 7:00 PM tonight- Sunday the 11th of October. We got cold reception, filled the usual paperwork, then we were directed to a "special" medium size waiting room that was so full of people, my wife took the last seat. She felt really sick, shivering, barely able to stand up. Doesn't matter, took them 4 1/2 hours to see her. She just sent me an SMS a few minutes ago, the doctor finally was able to examine her, and yes she got the flu... A heavy form of it. My wife told me that after the doctor saw her, she was left to "wait for the prescription" and she was really sick, shaking with terrible fever. Another 30 minutes later, finally somebody showed up, and when they saw her, they got "very worried" and gave her a Motrin to lower the 102.5 F fever... Very cool... Well what can I say? At least she saw the doctor... At least she got the prescription drug- and thank God she is young and strong. I imagine if it was another person, with more health problems... Would that person survive the wait here? To the other Yelpers who wrote reviews: you guys were very lucky to get such a short wait here- in our case, it was a record (long & tedious) wait. Even in larger US cities where I've lived before, I never had to wait as long as that... read more

Who likes to spend an evening in the Emergency Room? I know I don't.. It usually takes forever to be seen. The waiting rooms are filled with miserable people, and it's generally agonizing to endure your time there. That was not the case during my recent visit to Seton Northwest. I was not the patient, but was a witness to the whole process, from admission to discharge. The woman who checked us in at the front desk was friendly, even after I asked her twice how many people were ahead of us.. 40 minutes total waiting time at the front to be seen by the triage nurse. *results may vary* (seemed to be a slow night, luckily) Then on to the exam room to wait for a different nurse and X-rays for a suspected fracture. Waited less than 10 minutes for the nurse (Shardae) to take vitals, then came the X-ray tech.. He was the only Grumpy Gus of the E.R. staff that night. Not a lot of patience for the patient, when it was necessary to position the bones just so for the X-ray machine. He did apologize after he saw me give him the Evil Eye and crossed arms, so maybe he ain't all bad. In came Dr. Francois Gordon, the calm and cool Jamaican ER doctor. (not that his nationality makes a difference, I just love Jamaican people and their accents) He examined the X-rays and consulted an orthopedist for a second opinion on how to proceed. It was decided to give an IV sedation for the realignment of the fractured bone. A CNA came in to start the IV, who I watched like a hawk because I'm a phlebotomist by trade. He got in the vein with no problem, and was very competent and efficient in everything he did. On to another room to do the realignment. We met Toni, the wonderful and friendly ER nurse. She explained everything that was going on, and had an excellent bedside manner. I wasn't allowed to stick around for the actual procedure, but I hear it went perfectly! Dr. Gordon does an awesome bone realigment from what I understand. Toni was there to take care of the out-processing and wheeling to the door. She stood out as the best all-around staff we came in contact with, in my opinion. Everyone there made the experience as painless and efficient as possible, at least from my perspective. So if you find yourself in need of emergency care in North Austin, go see the professionals at Seton Northwest. read more

I am quite frustrated with my visit to the ER the other night (I came to this ER because its where my Gyn doctor is and where I had the surgery.) So, I had a hysterectomy on March 5th, I was cleared on April 30 but after an encounter, I was in the worst pain of my life. I went in and explained the situation and they took blood, hooked me up to an IV and did a CT SCAN even after I questioned it and hesitated. I don't think the doctor understood my concern, he did NOT do an exam at all which is all it should've taken and now I'm stuck with another insane bill for a CT scan that wouldn't catch the issue. It was a waste of money and there should be more than one doctor available so there's a better understanding. ***Besides that - the nurses were WONDERFUL! I loooooved them all even though I had to explain my embarrassing problem multiple times! haha*** read more

My first review was for ER treatment. This review was for a surgical admission that lasted 4 days. I found the nursing staff consistently caring and considerate. Maybe more importantly they all seemed smart and on top of my care. I was there 4 days post surgery. I really only have one beef with this hospital. All of the equipment in my room was worn out. The bed was so bad when I laid in it flat my bottom hit the metal platform below. On my first night post surgery before I really discovered the terrible bed I heard another patient asking a nurse if they could change out his bed. The nurses all said that at least on their unit the beds were consistently worn out. The blood pressure cuffs wouldn't velcro closed because they were worn out. One of the room monitors didn't keep the correct time and date on the logging system for the nursing staff. This about a 15 year hospital and I think the Daughters of Charity consider it a step-child hospital. They need to spend quite a few million to update the equipment. But as I said, every staff member I had contact with was first rate. read more

Seaton Northwest Hospital Don't think this hospital was really just trying to get someone to cover a spot. My mother was admitted into the hospital, She was basically an Experiment her nurse brought a student in to stick my mother's IV in her hand. The student couldn't poke correctly and blew my mothers blood vein, She now has a swollen hand and said it will be fine. My mother asked a nurse named Jessica to not put a mask on face and she proceeded anyway. My mother woke up to what she said felt like sandpaper in her eyes do to the medicine from her mask in her eye's. I feel like they were just trying to just make their money and not a passion of there's? I can say that some of the other men and ladies that helped my mother I really do appreciate them truly it. read more

My 8 month old had a 105.2 temp. We live 2 miles away. She had a fever I brought home from work and still have. Checked in over the phone at 10:45 pm. Sat in the waiting room from 11 pm to 2:30 am while everyone else was seen. Acetaminophen and ibuprofen combination only brought it down to 102.0. Was seen by an md who called the whole thing an ear infection. The fever broke at 7 am on its own. Next time, we go to Saint David's. read more

5 Stars for saving my life! Without going into specifics, I had to be rushed into the Emergency Room at this hospital in very bad condition. I was treated quickly and the team was remarkably professional and competent. During my recovery stay the nursing staff was absolutely wonderful and made me feel as comfortable as possible. My advice is don't have medical emergencies, but if you do, Seton NW is a reliable place to recover. read more

My wife and I had our baby boy at Seton Northwest, and the entire experience was terrific. It was never crowded, check-in was fast and easy, and there were no issues with insurance or payment. The nursing staff in the maternity ward was amazing - they gave us a ton of personal attention and advice, and we felt very comfortable with caring for our son by the time we left. Seton NW has a very personal feel to it. It's small and inviting, and it seems more like a place to get care than a big business. The location is convenient (for North Austin) and there are a variety of places to grab food nearby. The delivery rooms and recovery rooms were large and well appointed, though the recovery room did not have a DVD player (only a VCR). That didn't matter since we really weren't in the mood for TV. For nursing mothers, the lactation staff was excellent. We were visited by an assistant, then later by a lactation consultant, who checked up on us again before we left. The nurses were also very knowledgeable and offered great tips. Dr. Hughes delivered the baby and he was outstanding. Very down to earth and you can just tell he's a great doctor. He came highly recommended from the hospital staff as well. To summarize: Go here if you're sick or need professional care. Great hospital. read more

My daughter felt horrible and felt the need to go to the closest ER. In the lobby she had a wave come over her and fell down to the (revolting) hospital floor. As she lay there crying and catching her breath,a nurse or doctor looked at her and kept on going without asking. Not a single person came to speak with her (or her father or sister)- she could have been dying but they didn't care. This is an emergency room? Where is the care? Compassion? Attention? The answer is NOT HERE. Don't add humiliation to your painful ordeal. read more

A good day gone bad! Ascension Northwest is the worst. I expected more from this hospital. I worked for Ascension for over 5 plus years and never thought that I would be treated the way I was treated. When I arrived at Ascension Northwest my daughter was being prepped for a C-Section. A nurse and the doctor came and talked to me and informed me of what was going on with my daughter. About 45 minutes later my daughter's sister arrived. No one mentioned the covid policy of how many people can be in the room. The room did become a little crowded when my daughter and the baby returned to the room after delivery. While my daughter's sister and I were standing in the corner out of the way waiting for the nurses to finish up with my daughter and my grandchild. Iris, one of the nurses approaches me and my daughter's sister saying that there's only 2 people that's allowed in the room BUT if no one else comes it will be ok with her. As I'm sitting there enjoying my new grandchild, out of nowhere Iris yells at me saying PUT THE BABY DOWN RIGHT HERE. My daughters sister and I looked at Iris like why are you yelling? So I proceeded on feeding my grandchild and I guess I was not feeding my grandchild correctly because Iris comes and takes my grandchild from me and shoves a bottle in the baby's mouth. And then Iris says there you go. I told Iris respectfully that her delivery is kinda rude and the service that she is giving is a little aggressive. So then I guess she got mad because security is now at the door of the room saying that there's too many people in the room. But not even 20 minutes ago Iris told us that it would be OK if we were there as long as no one else came. So my daughter's sister just decided to go ahead and leave. So one of the other nurses was taking my grandchild's temperature and I asked her what her temperature does the baby need to be at? she said 97.9 And I said OK because the baby's temperature was reading at 97. So Iris walks in the room and takes the baby's temperature again and it's 97.6. Iris then yells out the baby's temperature needs to be 98. And I was like well the other nurse said it just needed to be 97.9 And yes it was just a degree off but I was just trying to make sure that we were on the right page with the baby's temperature. Iris immediately asks if there is a problem, and I politely said yes and Iris asked me what was the problem and I told her Iris it is you.. She said what do you mean I said again Iris you're rude you're delivery is a little aggressive and the way that you're talking to me is rude. She proceeded to continue to talk over me. Iris got mad and was like I'll just get you another nurse and I told Iris no that's fine my daughter will be changing room soon anyway and she proceeded to say no no no no I'll get you another nurse and I was like fine ok. Not once did I disrespect Iris Not once did I say anything inappropriate to Iris matter of fact I was sitting the whole time we were having this conversation. Iris leaves the room and the next thing I know I have security and the charge nurse at the door wanting to talk to me. So I go out and I speak with them and they tell me that Iris is crying and she is scared to come back in the room. I was lost because Iris was just fine when she walked out of the room and she was definitely ok when she was being rude to me. I proceeded to tell the security and the charge nurse that the only thing I told Iris was that her delivery was a little aggressive and the way she talked to me was rude and the service that she was giving me was unacceptable and the fact that she shoved a bottle in my grandchild's mouth was so unkind. Oh and did I mention that Iris and another nurse couldn't even remember when and what medications were given to my daughter. I overheard the whole conversation. The charge nurse I think Natalie is her name. She says that it wouldn't be fair for her to have to change out nurses. But is it fair for me to be treated the way I've been treated? I never asked for a new nurse that was Iris's idea. So now I'm being asked to leave. I told Security and the charge nurse that I will be leaving. I go back in the room and grab my bag and tell my daughter that I would see her and the baby later. The next thing you know the security is back at the door. I told him that I'm leaving, I don't need an escort, but of course he stands there anyway. So as I proceeded to leave. The security guard proceeded to start walking behind me. He would not just let me leave he started questioning me And being hostile with me. Then he asked for my ID. I explained to him that he didn't need my ID. He starts trying to tell me if I did not give him my ID he would be forced to to call authorities on me and tell my manager. I told the security officer that you asked me to leave and I am leaving and I am not giving him my ID. So he wants to take pictures of my ID and I said fine but I am not giving read more

This review is for the day surgery located downstairs. We had a pleasant and streamlined experience here recently when Kiddo went in for ear tubes. The staff here were all nice and professional. I love all the double checking of everything too; wrist bands, birthdays etc. After surgery, I was summoned from the waiting room into recovery to find a very nice male nurse sweetly holding my quiet and confused kiddo. Deducting stars for the long ass wait though. If you weren't going to be ready until 8:30, why did we have to arrive at 7:15? Our poor baby had nothing to eat or drink since midnight and was so cranky while we waited and waited. Since I had filled out all the paperwork online, we didn't need an hour and 15 minutes for a few signatures. As someone else mentioned, the parking spots are way too small. It's Texas for heaven's sake, make those spots bigger. Not everyone drives a skinny Prius! Tip: Ask the nice woman at the front window for tokens to use in the toy machine so you don't have to use up your one quarter that you might have at the bottom of your purse. read more

I was here in mid October and admitted with sepsis for a bladder infection. But this hospital did and charged me for a CT of my head not my urinary system. It was not helpful at all! read more

I was teetering between 3 and 4 stars on this review. This was not where I wanted to be at 5am this morning, but alas, it was where I was. There was no waiting in the ER, I was processed quickly and the staff were all VERY friendly. So 5 stars for the staff The doctor (dr. Harrington) was great up until a point. He was very nice and energetic. I seriously wonder how much Redbull he consumes a night- there is no way to have THAT much energy naturally. He explained everything he was doing and wanted to be very thorough. Cleanliness could have been better. When they got me a sheet out of the cabinet two different ones they pulled out had permanent stains on them. They didn't give me those, but why even keep them if they are that gross looking? No one wants to lay on sheet with a blood stain on it. The biggest problem I had was being coerced into an MRI. Being pregnant I did not want to take any chances on an MRI, but was pretty much forced into one anyway. 4 hrs after arriving I was sent home after bloodwork, a catheter, an MRI, an exam, and an ultrasound- with NO answers- just advice to stay off my feet until I go back to work on Thursday and see if anything changes. read more

You know what sucks? Surgery. You know what makes it tolerable? Kind, helpful nurses and staff. I had a procedure done here a few weeks ago. I wasn't allowed any Advil or aspirin for 2 weeks prior, and no food or drink 12 hours prior, so of course I woke up at 2am the night before surgery with a splitting migraine. It was so severe I wasn't able to fall back to sleep, so I stared at the ceiling until 5:30. When I checked in at Seton, the nurses whisked me back to the pre-op area and started doing their thing. One of the nurses asked if I was ok (I guess I looked REALLY awful) and when I told him I had a horrible headache, he got me an ice pack and dimmed the lights. He also hurried the anesthesiologist to get my IV started so I could get some relief. It's an antiquated saying, but it really IS the little things that make all the difference, and I'm very grateful for the professionals at Seton who went out of their way to take care of me. It's hard to admit that I'm a fool, but in the interest of not having someone else make the same mistake here goes... You may have seen the Seton Billboards and advertisements marketing their no-wait online check-in for the ER and thought to yourself "Wow, how convenient. I hate having to wait for non-life threatening health care at a clinic." Well, good thought, but there's a catch. This is still a full-service Trauma Center and ER, and it bills like one. DO NOT go here for minor injuries that you should visit an Urgent Care clinic for, as you will receive a bill for full-on ER services. My personal trip for a corneal abrasion and an antibiotic prescription cost me $500, and my insurance company another $1500...something that an Urgent Care clinic would have done for a couple hundred bucks tops. The staff is professional, and I'm sure the care is excellent if you need a full on ER or Hospital. If don't though, just skip the "Log On. Show Up. Be Seen." stuff and go wait at an urgent care clinic. You and your wallet will be glad you did read more

I wanted to take time to leave a review regarding my labor and delivery and postpartum experience with this hospital. This was initially a conflicting and difficult decision to make considering I was preparing for my first child, but I am very happy with my experience overall. What helped me to decide to give birth at this hospital was my relationship and rapport with my OBGYN. This happened to be the hospital I would deliver in should I continue prenatal care with her and I trusted her, so I decided to trust this hospital. Prior to arriving in the midst of a miserable labor I called to make sure it was recommended that I come in. I spoke with an on-call nurse who went over my symptoms. She was very sweet, empathetic, but efficient considering my pain level. I was instructed to head in. I arrived around 2 am on a Monday which was also Labor Day. I had to complete intake paperwork with the hospital, but I thankfully pre-registered so it didn't take too long. The woman helping me with registration recognized that I was in pain and helped move me along quickly. I was told to go to a specific room at L&D. When I arrived to the room I was greeted by Bethany. Bethany was absolutely amazing and a gem. She made me feel supported, encouraged, and very well taken care of during my labor and delivery. I remember at one point wanting to just hug her during my epidural because she was just so great. She made sure myself and baby were comfortable and healthy following the delivery. She transitioned me to another L&D nurse, Iris, who was just as helpful. I could rave about the women in the postpartum unit as well. Vivian, Brianda, Li-Fan, Gail, and a few others whose names I unfortunately did not get because I was often exhausted. I nearly stayed an extra day just to continue with the great care. If I had to list any complaints or cons, it would be with room service. The food was bearable at least, but it's not a 5-star restaurant so I didn't hold it against my experience. If and when I do have another child and pregnancy I will definitely return to this hospital. The low rating for the hospital may seem like a deter from wanting to give birth here, but it is not a true reflection of the professionals and staff working the L&D and postpartum units. I would definitely recommend! read more

If you're a Veteran and the Choice Program refers you here for specialty treatment,?forget it. They neither respect Veterans or are they willing to treat you. A beuqacratic nightmare only concern is them getting paid. I finally walked out after calling both the VA and Choice program administrators. Not once did I even hear good morning sir or Thank you for your Service. They are totally unprepared to help Veterans. They even admitted to as much. I have been to a lot of hospitals in my day as a visitor and as a patient. I have never experienced such a warm wonderful feeling when entering such an institution as Seton Northwest. From the minute you walk in the door especially since I was alone everyone was so friendly and willing to offer their assistance, Volunteer staff etc. everyone was just amazing The floors were totally immaculate as was the whole hospital. Beware--this ER price-gouges. Came into the ER after getting thunked reasonably hard in the head during a softball game. Wasn't even 100% sure I needed to come in, but it was precautionary after all the stories of people having bad stuff happen after head-injuries lately. It was late at night so I had limited options for care. In retrospect I probably should have chosen an urgent care facility instead. They ended up attempting to bill me between $4000-$5000 for the ER visit and CT scan. Insurance adjusted the cost down around $2000, but this is ridiculous. I wasn't even admitted to the hospital. I pretty much had a doctor look at me for 5 minutes and got the CT scan. They told me at the time that it would probably be around $1000, which seemed about right given my previous experience with CT scans and ER visits. I made a visit to University of Michigan ER where they kept me for several hours for observation where they didn't charge me this much. And I've had CT scans before--no one has ever charged me $2000 for a CT scan before (this cost they said their CT scan was). My previous CT scans have been less than $1000. The quality of the care was fine, and if your life is in danger and cost is no object, I would have no qualms of going here. But under other circumstances, be aware that unless your insurance is going to pick up the entire tab, they apparently are going to price gouge you for everything. read more

I had knee replacement surgery at Seton Northwest in February and stayed there for two nights. I have three previous encounters with other local hospitals when I was hospitalized for other maladies. Some of these encounters were not too pleasant so I was a little afraid and skeptical of being hospitalized but could not avoid it due to the nature of my surgery. To my delight I was totally impressed at how accommodating and caring the staff at Seton NW was during my stay. The nursing and support staff provided 24 hour care and I felt relaxed and comfortable during my stay. Special thanks to Nancy Fo, nurse supervisor; Mary, Valerie, and Adora. nurses; Deanne, physical therapist; Rachel, occupation therapist; and all of the clinical assistants and support staff that worked so diligently to take care of me. read more

Came here for an eye issue that might have been very serious.  I got in to see the doctor in about 20 minutes, got an analysis and a referral.  The doctor called it accurately and the referral doctor did a great job. Total costs were roughly what were expected for an ER visit.  The staff made a very scary night (where I thought I was going blind) less bad. read more

Took my husband here on a Saturday morning with symptoms that looked like appendicitis. He was seen immediately. All of the nurses and doctors were so kind and communicative. None of the common ER feeling of "Have they forgotten about me?" -- they were great. They even gave us an explicit time estimate on how long his blood work was going to take, and the estimate was right on target -- have never had that happen at a hospital before! They fully explained all of his test and scan results, and all of the next steps, and were happy to answer all of our questions. They took really good care of him. read more

A trip to the emergency room is never going to be fun, but Seton Northwest made is as pleasant an experience as possible. Clean, quiet, very friendly, they made getting through a difficult situation as pleasant as possible. Couldn't be a better facility for emergency situations. read more

I went to the ER around 10 p.m. with food lodged in my esophagus. I was seen right away and the staff was professional, good humored, and compassionate. I have a high-deductible health plan and while I know this visit will be expensive as it is, I appreciate that the staff worked with me to try a low-tech, noninvasive way to clear the obstruction before calling in a GI doc to do a scoping procedure, which would have wound up costing much more. It worked and I was able to go home in around an hour. Overall good experience. read more

My only complaint is that the male RN nurse who was prepping me for surgery stuck me once with a numbing shot so the IV injection wouldn't hurt much but he didn't wait enough time for it to take affect and I thought the IV stick was more painful than it should have been. Doctor was fine but nurses were not. Nurse 1 got blood all over the place while putting IV needle in my husband. Allowed a lot of air to get into him, which is very dangerous and can be life threatening. While all this was happening, she was trying to watch TV in the room. Nurse 2 yanked IV needle out of him, and then started taking blood pressure in the same arm - of course, blood was everywhere again, because that arm was squeezed! I think I would do a better job than them! They are just so incompetent! read more

I had my child here and I've had two day surgeries here. I love the fact that I can go in and pay ahead of time and register early. I love that my OBGYN works directly out of the hospital. The staff is friendly and eager to assist. The nurses try hard and try to keep you comfy. The maternity staff is top notch. They come in happy and with a great attitude. The cons are that the parking spaces are small. In addition, you usually have to wait to be taken back into surgery. They tell you to get there at 6:30 am and don't show up until closer to 7 to wisk you away. I hate waiting. And unless you are bleeding to death the ER wait is unreal. Other than that, I will keep going here for all of my medical needs. read more

Went in on a Sunday morning..chest pains...yikes The reception nurses were very calm and friendly, which kept me calm. I was taken back into the ER and immediately evaluated, it was determined that I needed to be treated at the Seton Medical Center downtown. So away I was transferred. The ER staff was great, I could not have asked for better people to take care on me. read more

Gereat experience 4th floor nurse's have been awesome always there when I needed them I home I don't have to come back but in the cause that I do 4th floor seemed to have rocked it made me as comfortable as possible and alw@ys quick to repond. Now right after giving this place a five star a few people don't deserve for me to take their stars away because they have all been great but sercurity and the charge nurse in charge on 1-3-15 appx 12pm. Were terrible security treaty me like an escaped convict when I went for fresh air and the charge nurse took his side without evening careing about me. I will be reporting this to higher authority first ch@nce I get which she didn't even want me to have the number too . read more
