I waited ALL NIGHT to be diagnosed with a blood clot on my l kidney, fluid in my kidney and my kidneys were failing. An emergency situation in which I was running fever, vomiting and in very bad shape and STILL waited hours upon hours. I just came home from Seaton NW after an emergency visit and stayed 3 days. I've been to this hospital before and told the EMT's I did not want to go there but instead St David's but for some reason, they insisted I go to Seaton. I wasn't happy. I ended up being admitted and the nightmare began. Let's start with the food; in a word? Disgusting and virtually NOT EDIBLE. Cleanliness? The room was nasty and there was blood splashed on the mirror above the sink...it was never cleaned despite me pointing it out. The shower was broken. The nurse's station was virtually deserted 80% of the time. I was so afraid to touch ANYTHING for fear of catching MERSA. Be Smart...Don't put your health at risk. There are much better hospitals. Suffice to say I WILL NEVER, EVER GO TO THE HOSPITAL AGAIN...YOU shouldn't either. read more

My uncle came in with severe pain in his stomach and chest area and they had him in the waiting room from 4am to 6:30am with an empty lobby and no patients, but a white lady walked in and was immediately taken to a room, with a pandemic going on you'd think they'd take chest and stomach pain serious but no, only if you're white they will. read more

Dr. Chaparro Krueger is one of the best. I delivered my son here back in December and we had moved around so much with doctors I was late to the game with developing a relationship with staff until my third trimester. I had the most wonderful delivery from Dr. Krueger and all of the nurses. The 4 stars instead of 5 is only because I have a hard time communicating with the front desk. They are a bit rude from time to time but overall a great hospital. read more

This has resulted in almost no accountability for bad decisions of the individual. On top of that, a good amount of bad reviews are people shooting the messenger. My 58 year old husband with an extreme family cardiac history was left in the lobby for over 30 minutes after a normal ekg without having any other cardiac protocol started to check troponins. As an ER RN of 32 years, I know this is a complete and unsafe violation of cardiac protocol. I would never ever go to this poorly run facility staffed by angry, uncaring, uppity staff. Shew! Thank God for the L&D staff. I can't speak for ER, but THANK GOD for the ladies in Labor & Delivery. My daughter had a labor that went south quickly and the nurses and doctors worked hard to keep both mom and baby from disaster. We are so thankful for their quick thinking, action, and discernment, and because of that, we got to take them both home safe and sound. When you have a loved one admitted to a hospital, it is excruciatingly stressful, and to know that the staff cares as much about saving lives as you would hope they would, this group of professionals cannot be beat. This is our family's third experience with L&D at Seton NW (20 years ago, 3 years ago, and last week) and we are thankful for all good outcomes. read more

My 83 year old mother was brought into the ER on 8/10 with convulsions, trouble breathing and slurred speech. When I arrived they told me they had given her Valium. This was without my consent. If they had asked, as her medical power of attorney, I would have said no as she's reacted badly to it in the past. The doctor determined her reaction was likely due to two new drugs given the evening before at a skilled nursing facility. While in the ER she fell asleep due to the Valium and they said they would not be admitting her and she'd be discharged back to the nursing facility. As soon as she arrived back at the facility she was sobbing and again in full body convulsions, shortness of breath & speech problems. I called the ER and they said "Well when she left here she was calm and sleeping" I said "yeah no kidding, because you gave her Valium! And now that it's worn off she has the exact same symptoms that caused us to call 911 earlier". This is how they apparently handle an adverse drug event - sedate the patient and send them on their way a couple hours later. So I immediately called 911 again and on the advice of the paramedic, had them take her to Seton Main where they admitted her and will be keeping her for at least 3 days for observation. They determined she had a severe adverse drug reaction and has an antibiotic-resistant UTI. read more

UPDATE 2/22: Seton gets back to me after I post an update about how they continued to be unhelpful ten days after the fact by leaving another comment on my review, citing that it would be unprofessional to leave my information on Yelp! That should go without saying. Of course it would be unprofessional, which is why I emailed you personally ten days ago with my phone number and other contact information. Apparently there was a ten day investigation into my case which I also found out very officially in the latest Yelp! comment. Again, super passive aggressive and not helpful. They respond to Yelp reviews and not emails. This is further evidence of their lack of professionalism and care. And no, Seton Northwest, and more specifically Tony Mook, God Bless YOU. ************************************** UPDATE 2/21: So Seton never go back to me. Don't let their comment on my review fool you. I reached out and heard nothing back. Not surprising though, they're too busy begrudgingly saving people's lives at top dollar to pander to the little people. However, there is a silver lining. Texas Laundry Company, out of the goodness of their heart and with no prompting at all, took the time to mail my passport back to me. They ever used a padded envelope and not one, but TWO stamps. That's customer service, y'all. I'm so grateful. But we do have to wonder what the world is coming to when a laundry mat is more willing to help than the people that we pay top dollar to save our lives. ************************************* I am furious. I was brought in last night while unconscious. I did not have my purse or any of my belongings, so I thought, but a family member gave my passport to the EMTs before I was brought in for identification purposes. Someone on staff thought it was a good idea to throw the passport in the bed with me after they were finished with it and never informed me that it was there. Since I was sick and, you know, unconscious, I did not realize that my passport was with me and it was shuffled around in the blankets throughout the night. They were so busy scooting me out the door and suggesting that I take a taxi multiple times in the extra half an hour it took my ride to come, they must have forgotten to tell me. I could understand if they needed the bed quickly and there were lots of emergencies going on but judging by the amount of laughter and idle group conversation that was going on at the nurse's desk, that was not the case. I had no idea until I got home and my family member asked if I had my passport that it was even with me. Called the hospital to get my passport and getting staff to answer questions and check into the issue was like pulling teeth. I had to force them to be helpful. They said no one turned it in which means housekeeping scooped it up with the blankets. I asked if they could get in touch with housekeeping and have them check since, you know, I was just there a couple of hours ago and my passport is surely in the laundry that has not gone out for the day. But no.What a super proactive approach to patient care. And attention to detail is clearly a priority for housekeeping staff. It's a passport book. Not a tiny piece of paper. It's big and blue and really noticeable. Now on to the care- the staff was clearly annoyed by my presence- making this horrible experience that I was already having all the more emotionally traumatizing. I begged (literally begged) for water all night but was refused because I was throwing up. I don't know if that's truly protocol or if they just didn't want me to have it so they wouldn't have to clean me up or work more. One nurse came in to yell at me and tell me to stop asking for water. So I did. My mouth and throat are cracked, dry, and raw a day later. I was not given socks and had to walk to the bathroom and around the hospital barefoot. I had to ask for them because I was so grossed out about my bare feet and all of the germs that hospitals carry. Really disappointed with how unprofessional everything was. Please don't go here and if you are brought here without choice, my sympathies. They made a scary situation even scarier and I honesty have never felt more alone and uncared for in my life. Thanks for the emotional trauma, North Seton. Can't wait for that "cherry on the top" bill to come in the mail as your final "F-you". Came into ER for inflamed pharyngitis, had to wait in ER with a fever for 2 hours before anyone actually looked at my throat. Every member of staffed I talked to was rude and incredibly sarcastic. My husband was admitted Sunday night 04/25/21. He was seen at Ascension Williamson ER but transferred to Seton Northwest because of bed space. From the admission desk to the 4th floor doctor (Dr. G.), nurses, CNA's, dietary & the wonderful young lady who came by to check the rooms cleanliness, I can't praise them high enough. Even with a computer down time on Sunday night everyone stayed positive, happy & helpful. There was always someone there to answer questions & keep us updated on what to expect next. Thank you all with my whole heart. special shout out to the nurses Taylor, Jennifer, & Sunita (I hope I spelled that correctly) you made a scary time in our lives very easy, relaxed & informative. read more

I was very impressed by the staff and emergency room doctor at Seton Northwest As soon as I walked in the morning they had attended to me right away it was not crowded everything was scheduled according to the timeframe that they had posted in each emergency room to let the patient know how long each test would take. The doctor and nurses and admissions clerk were all very professional very fast I had to have quite a few tests taken but everything went according to a timely manner. Usually I don't like to go to emergency rooms for anything because it takes a long time but at Seton Northwest there was a few patients there but they were taken care of right away. read more

It is incredibly frustrating when the billing department absolutely can NOT get their act together. My wife had a medical procedure performed in February of 2019. For MONTHS on multiple conversations we have asked the hospital to appeal the insurance company for coverage that was initially denied. After talking to the insurance company ourselves multiple times, they said it was something that they WOULD cover, but that the hospital had to send the appeal for charges. They would not let us handle this appeal process. The hospital sent an appeal TO THE WRONG ADDRESS AND COMPANY!!! This is after we told them of their wrong doing several times! FINALLY, in May (last month) my wife took a day off work to get this all sorted out. She spent 2 hours on a conference call with the insurance company AND the hospital having the insurance company explain in pain staking detail how to send in an appeal, who to send it to, the company that handles their appeals, and the address! The Hospital representative finally understood what had to be done, and assured us it would be handled. Fast forward to today: June 29, 2020. We receive a collections notice from a third party for over $7k. WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! We need a better, more formal way to file a complaint! How can you as an Organization get this so wrong after so many calls and different people talked to - a couple of which said they were the supervisors. This is complete nonsense. read more

On 10/12/19 I visited this ER because I was having some breast pain that I feel were caused by a neglected infection. I went in and everything was quick and the ladies who checked me in and got my vitals were extremely kind and professional. That is where the professionalism ended. I was taken to a room and given a gown to change, the nurse closed the curtain and exited, my brother with her. Dr. Meghal Mehta entered shortly after and prior to her even closing the door or opening the curtain she asks how long I've had the piercing, I told her 3 years and she responds 'without even seeing it, it has to come out' then comes through the curtains. From that point until I left, the following comments were made by her numerous times: "did you get them for a boy? Please dont tell me you got them for a stupid boy." "You're a grown ass woman what are you scared of?" "You're going to have to get over it, it's coming out" "you're going to have to get surgery, its just going to get worse" "they're going to have to sedate you and you're going to have to get surgery and have IV antibiotics anyways" "we're going to just sedate you" "just get over it" "what are you scared of" and a number of other comments that were similar to those. During the visit Dr. Mehta attempted to remove my piercing a number of ways, using different instruments and techniques, none of which were successful nor were they executed with any care or concern for my pain level. I was offered sedatives several times which I refused. I was given a few localized shots of lidocaine to allow her to attempt to remove the jewelry and then so she could cut and drain the abscess to further attempt to remove the jewelry. She attempted to use my admitted fear of having to have surgery, against me in what I can only assume, was an effort to accomplish her soul goal, which was to remove the jewelry. I made several comments about how anxious I was, how much pain I was in and how I didn't agree with removing the jewelry, as I've been told every single time I've gotten a piercing (I've had over 30) not to take it out if it's infected. She was determined to take it out and spoke harshly about her disgust and disapproval of piercings in general and boasted about how many she's removed. She didn't ask a single question about the infection, how long it had been infected, where or what was hurting etc. All she cared about was that I removed it and all of my other ones. When I had finally had enough of the torture and was too weak to continue screaming out in pain and protest, she angrily exited the room but not before once again, attempting to intimidate me by forseeing me having to get surgery. She goes out and tells my brother that he should talk some F*ing sense into me etc. I was left covered in blood and bloody gauze, cut open all over my nipple from her incisions, without any dressing of the open wounds or even cleaning of the area... just left there. A few minutes later a paramedic came in with my paperwork and as he was reading everything to me, he made it very clear that Dr. Mehtas recommendation that I follow up with a surgeon, wasn't something he'd seen before and that my prescription of 42 antibiotics, would be more than sufficient. So basically she recommended it to further try to intimidate and scare me because she didn't get her way. I am not a lawyer, but I do not believe this treatment was legal. She was negligent and unprofessional beyond belief. I am truly traumatized and emotional distraught over the incident, so much so that I do not think I will ever seek medical attention for anything short of a deadly illness, again. Thankfully my infection has cleared up completely, as well as the abscess but unfortunately the emotional and mental wounds Dr. Mehta has caused, are no where near healing and I am certain they will leave a nasty scar when they do. read more

Tim, the anesthesiologist, is very good at his job and is very good explaining all my questions. Superb communication and good workers. Doctor Brannon Smoots, I can not say enough good things about this Doctor. I have a lot of experience being a patient at a lot of different Hospitals and I have to give this Seton hospital an A+. read more

Dr T Newton advised to do chest x-rays without examining my son. He then said " What do you want me to do then". Me: "Examine him like a doctor does; and tell me if his lungs are clear, as I am not a doctor", "My son has asthma". This Seton is exactly the same as I remembered 15 years ago when my son was born, absolutely horrible care. Was praying for improvement since it's so close and convenient. I took my roommate to this ER the other morning around 5 am. I had booked an appt on line for her but just couldn't wait so we went, hoping to get in sooner. While in the waiting room, a man fell out of his chair and appeared to have passed out. I watched as his wife ran to the window to tell them. Then.... nothing happened. Nothing.... happened.... nothing. Now, at least 4 minutes later, I went to the window and said... hey, A guy's passed out on the floor out here. The gal said, "we know". The very large and intimidating male triage nurse stood up and said "we know". I said well... do something! The male triage guy rang for the security guard. Don't know if he was calling him on me (I'm a 60 yo fat woman... not too scary) and the security guy came. The big nurse came out with a wheelchair and picked the guy up and wheeled him back. The guy's wife thanked me for getting action. I swear, this place will let you die in the waiting area!!! My roommate said everything was much better once she got in the back. She's fine, btw. But Seton needs to talk to their intake triage staff. read more

I went to this ER for extreme pain in my arm. Though the pain had already been diagnosed by my primary care provider as a repetitive stress injury, the night I went to the ER I couldn't take it anymore. The pain kept me up at night - I hadn't slept in over a week, and I was beginning to worry it was something more serious. I arrived here around 3:00 AM to be triaged by a cold and sardonic nurse, the type that looked at me with skepticism and dismissal when I described the nature of my pain. You could almost hear her eyes rolling in her tone and inflection. The doctor wasn't any better. As I was telling him about my injury I felt like everything I was saying was passing through a sieve, in one ear and straight out the other. He didn't even look at my arm before parroting the original diagnosis and prescribing a NSAID injection. I told him that I'd been taking NSAIDs throughout the experience with no effect and again, that fell on deaf ears. I gave up, accepted the injection which did nothing, and resigned myself to go home for another sleepless night. No imaging, no critical thinking, no real engagement, just a feckless doctor who apparently cared nothing for the comfort of his patients. The only good thing I can say is that the nurse that administered the injection was concerned and thoughtful, a far cry from the "care" I received in triage and from the physician. read more

I went to treat an emergency case of intracranial hypertension and got prescribed for sinusitis despite exhibiting zero symptoms of sinus congestion, injected with steroids, stigmatized at the front desk for being unvaccinated, lectured on the horrors of the Delta variant, blood-tested for COVID-19 a mere two weeks after testing negative, and injured by the nurse's grossly negligent or malicious act of removing the needle in my vein by pulling it out sideways thirty minutes after the 45-minute testing period's expiration. I know this because his hasty preparatory actions, tone of voice, and rambling aroused my concern of distracted behavior, prompting me to look down at the moment the needle was pulled nearly perpendicularly to my forearm and see my skin being stretched the width of an inch or two. I still feel throbbing pain from the resultsant blood clot and pray the wound heals naturally because Seton's network of providers sure as hell won't treat it or any condition with a modicum of competence. If it worsens and threatens serious bodily injury, a well-deserved one-star review is the least of this conglomerate's problems, though you wouldn't know it from this emergency department's boisterous banter at the slumber party behind closed (but not totally enclosing!) doors. Perhaps next time the staff and providers will treat similarly situated patients with dignity rather than minify serious health concerns as Micky Mouse shit. My time is just as precious yours, Doc, even if I allocate it toward prep for a $1900-entry fantasy draft you scoff at. With my episode of intracranial hypertension and resultant inarticulateness behind me, do I make myself clear? Or is the strength of my message's signal as poor as your network's? read more

The only reason I'm giving two stars is because my ER nurse- Chris- was awesome & the gal that did my ultrasounds was amazing and super knowledgeable. So the reason for the lack of stars -- from the minute I entered a room at the ER, the providers were not communicating. I am 20 weeks pregnant and was told I needed to see OB first. Well, instead, I was put in an ER room with no OB check. So eventually someone came in and asked if I was pregnant, I said yes, and they sent someone down to check baby's vitals. Later, after waiting 3.5 hours for anyone to tell me anything, the ER doctor comes in and tells me that he "did me a favor" by calling to set up a consult with urology for "first thing in the morning". Meaning, I was admitted. Come to find out, after urology didn't show up to my room until 1:30PM the following day, the doctor chose to admit me without doing the proper testing first, meaning it wasn't necessary for me to have been admitted at all. It is now 8PM and I was told I would be released at 4:15PM but due to lack of communication, the OB doctor I ended up seeing didnt put in an order for more ultrasounds until after I was already supposed to be discharged. Long story short, they're telling me that there's nothing that they can help me with and I have paid for a day at the hospital for no reason. If providers would properly communicate with each other and not take their sweet time just because something isn't considered an "emergency situation", people wouldn't be wasting money on lazy and unorganized care at this hospital. Edit 11/09/19- I forgot to mention my last nurse, Carmen, was awesome and super kind. She made sure we got out of there ASAP since no one else was even trying to make it happen before her. We also inquired about charges with the hospital and they are trying to charge us for not only one unnecessary day of admission, but TWO- even though we left before the admission time the day before. My wife was having an emergency medical situation. We called our insurance company, IdealCare, who instructed us to go to Seton NW Hospital's ER, because they are covered in our plan. We arrIved at Seton and handed over our insurance card, and paid our $100 copay. At this point, everyone knows we're covered by IdealCare, and as far as we know, we've already paid. A woman named Dr Le Boeuf grabbed my wife's chart and spent about ten minutes asking her some questions. She then wrote a prescription for antibiotics, and left. A month later, we received a bill for $715. We assumed it was a mistake, since we were covered by our insurance, and we'd already paid our copay up front. NOPE. Knowing we were covered by IdealCare, Dr Le Boeuf poached my wife's chart because she knew she could later "balance bill" us... since Le Boeuf does not accept IdealCare. This is a total scam practice. So we're stuck with an unexpected $715 bill that we wouldn't have to pay if Seton and Le Boeuf had not skirted our insurance coverage. I called it a "scam" because this is a KNOWN SCAM. The American College of Emergency Physicians is lobbying AGAINST federal and state laws which would prohibit this shady practice. It's a money game. Stay away from the doctors who engage in this immoral and unethical practice. Oh, and stay away from medical "professionals" who take advantage of people who are in pain, and then charge over $850.00 for a quick consult and an Rx slip. Seton claims to be a "religious hospital," but they are deliberately shady. Be aware. Edited for Seton's reply: NO. Just NO. Google "balance billing" in Texas, and look at how the ACEP has lobbied to continue the shady practice. Complaints IN TEXAS ALONE are up over 1,000%. ONE THOUSAND PERCENT. You're calling it a "normal practice," while state and federal legislatures are writing laws to prohibit this immoral practice. It may be "normal" for you, but it is ripping off consumers. Sick consumers, who are under EXTREME duress. You should be ashamed. read more

Hate to give 3 stars rather than 4 but the one thing bringing this rating down is something so bizarre it's crazy. My friend had major surgery and by all measures, thank God, the surgery and post-op care were excellent. The problem came at discharge. Unfortunately, the female doctor (who was unknown to us) who came to give the final check in order to authorize discharge had on the dirtiest "white" med coat I have ever seen! From the grimy collar to the grimy cuffs to the grimy pockets it was simply filthy! There weren't any obvious food stains, it was just plain dirty everywhere skin would be in contact with it. I was appalled! The doctor herself did not appear to be dirty, her hair looked clean and I didn't detect an odor--- but from the condition of the coat, frankly I was fully expecting to see those things. Thankfully she did not touch my friend during this time. Now to the questions-- NO ONE who saw her that day could possibly have not noticed what I noticed. WHY didn't a fellow physician or the Head Nurse on that floor pull her aside and make her either get a clean white coat or go without? The unavoidable impression she made was A. She must NEVER wash her hands, and we all know the very real dangers of that, B. She must NEVER wash her coat, which means weeks of germs follow her into every patient's room, and C. Therefore I'd have to assume her patients she actually lays hands on have a higher infection rate-- totally NOT something the hospital wants ANYONE to think about their institution. read more

I went to the ER Thursday morning for a bad asthma attack with extremely short breathing. After a few tests, they administered albuterol, which to me seemed to take a while. Fast forward 2 days and I developed what I thought was a "rash/reaction" in my left nostril only to find out after a trip to the doctor that I have contracted staph. Makes me reflect if they kept their hands clean entering and exiting. Was the room properly cleaned? Was it the mask for albuterol? Was it their tissues? I definitely wouldn't want to take another trip to this ER after contracting something within hours of being there. Care was pr good from almost everyone. I had no complaints there. However, when I got home, I found out someone STOLE my medication! I had 2 prescriptions and 2 over the counter meds that were all nearly brand new, completely full! Now that I'm home, I have no tyla or cough medicine now that I need it. that's well over $30 they STOLE from me! I didn't get anything bc I was told they couldn't find it, & it wasn't listed on my valuables list. They never went over a list of what I had! If I have to go back, I will NEVER trust anyone coming into my room again! 1 of the nurses assistants asked if I had sone meds from home, which I thought was a strange thing to ask, so I'm thinking it was her. I only took it with me so they could see what I'd been taking. Had I known, it never would have left my home. To top it off, I didn't always finish my drinks , so I put the ones I didn't open in my bag as well, so they didn't throw it out with the empty tray when I was done. 2 drinks were also missing. When to the emergency room with a variety of symptoms including bleeding in the mouth from my salivary glands. They took an MRI and several blood tests. The Dr. came into the room and said nothing specific on the MRI and to go see another Dr. Never went over the MRI results and wouldn't discuss the blood tests that were taken. Do not go to this emergency room. read more
