    Color by Stevie

Located at Yorktown Mall, Asha is the perfect location for me since it's very close to where I work. Stylist: I absolutely love Stevie! She is professional, creative and knows hair. Cut: It took me a very long time to find someone that I could trust my hair with. My hair isn't that hard, long layers done but you'd be surprised. I have never had a bad cut and they always grow out amazingly well. Color: Over a year ago I told Stevie that I wanted to make a change from my dark brown hair to grey/silver . As most clients who want to go from dark brown to grey, I showed her a picture and said this is what I want. She kindly let me know that the change won't happen over night but it would take a few sessions to get me where I wanted. I'm so glad I took her advice. Over the past year and half, she has transformed my hair! I wouldn't trust anyone else. I've receive so many compliments on my color and it's all because of Stevie's great work. Salon: Friendly and professional reception. Offered delicious hot tea or water when you arrive. CLEAN Technology: Love the email and text reminders of my appointments. I'm so busy that I would forget. Tip: My suggestion is to pre-book with Stevie, if you don't you'll have to wait since she books up quickly! Don't learn the hard way :)

Worst experience ever, left in tears and seemed like no one cared. Went yesterday for a bleach touch up by Katie. Didn't expect any problems as I had a color consultation with her last Wednesday, she said it would be no problem. All was well until she passed me off to another stylist so she could conduct an interview to a potential employee. Skyler then took over and was rinsing our my toner. She shampooed me around 5 or 6 times and I had a gut feeling something was wrong. We went back to her station, I looked up to find my hair was PURPLE. Not just a tint of purple- all purple. Skyler said "is it too purple? We could try a beige toner over it to get rid of some of the purple." I said yes to the beige toner as I cannot leave with purple hair, I work in health care with cancer patients and need to look professional. Skyler applied the beige toner, meanwhile I kept glancing in the mirror to see the purple changing over to a muddy brown (as you can see by my yelp photo, my hair is platinum blonde). Katie then came back over to check on Skyler and this beige toner. They both agreed it looked better and it was time to rinse it out. Skyler rinsed out the toner and kept saying "well at least you won't leave with purple hair", so I thought all was well. We go To her station again, I look up and there it was ; ashy/brown/muddy/greenish hair now. I said "it's brown now!!!!" Skyler offers to go back to the shampoo bowl to try and shampoo me again to try and fade out the toner a little bit or she tells me to try the same process at home. Umm what???? So a professional salon can't fix this? The recommendation was to go home and shampoo it myself and "give it a few days to fade or I can try to lighten you again ". Lighten me again??? So I can leave bald?! I was so furious and distraught and just wanted to get out of there I said fine I'll try this at home myself and give it a few days. The best part is....Katie never came back to check on me or check me out ...AND...Had the audacity to still charge me $95 for this mess on my head. Skyler said "we gave you 20% off". As if they are doing me a favor for their faulty work. At my consultation Katie said I would be out the door at $100, so how is $95 20% off of $100?!?!? I did not argue with them as there was a lady standing next to me at the front desk, other clients getting services, and I just really wanted to get the hell out of there as my eyes were welling up with tears. How can you charge a client for purple hair, pass her off to another stylist, make her try to fix it, and never come back to see the final ugly color? Poor customer service. I feel ripped off and deceived and my hair is not what I was promised, I have been up all night crying over this. (Oh, but my next service is free!!!! What a deal, because I'll never go back there). Even Skyler said "I won't be able to sleep over this.". Also Skyler told me that aveda doesn't Make products to make this icy platinum blonde that I wanted AKA a bleach touch up....So why did I waste my time with Katie and a color Consultation and she said it would be no problem. And again, why was I charged for two people messing up my hair, and I still left the salon with no resolution to this. I really hope to be contacted by a manager to share my displeasure regarding my experience yesterday. I will not return and I look forward to going back to Mario tricoci Too and paying $220 for a bleach touch up, at least I know it will be money well spent and the color I asked for. Skip this place people. Especially if you want to keep your blonde hair. Also, I got home and found my oatmeal colored tunic to be all full of purple toner....so in the garbage that shirt went.

I've been coming on and off for a variety of services (hair color, hair conditioning, scalp treatment, blowout, facial) since they opened. The service quality varies between visits on all fronts: from the phone, front desk, and esthetician/stylist. The esthetician services on the spa side seem a little more consistent than on the hair/nails side. Meanwhile hair services have varied from impassive to impatient, and am struggling to find hair service here that will keep me as a returning customer. Three of the times I've come for hair appointments (2 scalp treatments and 1 blowout) there was a scramble to find a stylist to help me several minutes after my appointment time went by. Last night I arrived 10 minutes early and had to wait 20 minutes after my appointment before a stylist came over--profusely apologetic of course. The product line and services menu are spectacular, and if you sign up for their email newsletters you will undoubtedly enjoy amazing deals and heads up on special events. I mostly come here now to purchase refills on my Aveda standby products, but will make a habit of coming back for the esthetician I found who I like very much. They cannot add gratuity to the credit card/debit card payments, so bring extra cash. This place is clean, sleek, well appointed, comfortable. Just wish the service level was consistent from one visit to the next.

I had a pedicure here, and it was fine. The thing that really irk'd me was that they don't allow gratuity added and paid for with credit cards; tips can only be paid for with cash or a separate check made payable to "cash." Tacky people...really tacky.

I chose Spavia Elmhurst after doing a lot of research and being willing to spend extra for what I…read moreexpected would be a high-quality, relaxing massage. Unfortunately, it ended up being one of the most disappointing spa experiences I've had. I booked a 60-minute deep tissue massage with the scalp oil and Hypervolt add-ons. Neither add-on was performed... my scalp was never touched and no massage gun was used though I was initially charged for both (they were only refunded after I reached out). The massage itself felt rushed and incomplete. Most areas of my body were barely worked on, and I left still in pain. When I got up, I noticed the digital wall clock in the room had been partially covered with a towel.. specifically, only the minutes portion was covered. I later realized the session had ended about 5-10 minutes early. Management later claimed that covering the clock is standard practice for guest comfort, but that explanation does not make sense. The clock was not bright at all, and there was a much brighter light left on in the corner of the room the entire time. If a digital clock is supposedly too bright and distracting, then it would make more sense to use a standard wall clock or not have a visible clock at all. Partially covering only the minutes, the part that tells you exactly how much time is left... felt like a very shady business practice rather than a comfort measure. I was also told afterward that my massage was shortened because I arrived late. However, when I checked in, the front desk assured me they were able to push my appointment back and accommodate me so that I would still receive my full 60 minutes. At no point before or during the massage was I informed that my session would be cut short. Letting a guest believe they are getting their full service and then ending early without any communication feels unprofessional. When I contacted them about all of this, the only thing offered was a complimentary add-on for a future visit. but only if I book and pay for another full-price massage. After already spending over $220 and being this unhappy, I don't find it reasonable to be asked to come back and spend another $200 just to receive a small add-on for free. A partial or full refund for the actual massage would have been far more appropriate. I have since been ignored. Overall, this experience did not match the premium price at all. I left sore, stressed, and disappointed. I would not recommend Spavia Elmhurst based on this visit.

The spa suites are located on the eighth floor. The facial was pretty standard, slightly mediocre. There were awkward technical issues with the steamer, which took her about five minutes to fix. She did apologize for the issues and ended up getting it working. At the end she had to collect her belongings which is also a little awkward. It would've been great if she could've got the bath started so I didn't have to wait 15 minutes for it to fill up. You have 25 minutes to relax in the room and take a bath or a shower or use the sauna. This would be an excellent experience or well worth it if they allowed more time. The bath took 10 minutes to fill up/figure out and I only had 15 minutes left. 15 minutes is not enough for a bath and to get ready. I would've really enjoyed the amenities if I was allowed more time. I would say 45 minutes would be ideal. I think they should price higher if needed and give people this time. Without time to enjoy the amenities the spa is really just average. I like the brand of soap that they had available and that it is in a private room. Overall, everything just felt very rushed and not relaxing like a spa should be.

I would have given more stars for them however the aspects were great disappointments. I was very disappointed that a floor was not dedicated to the Spa. We were told we could grab a bite to eat in the restaurant on the 9th Floor in between services. The restaurant was Closed! Then we were told we could grab a coffee and a quick bite downstairs in the Lobby. Apparently the person we saw at the bar on the way in to our 10:00AM left because when I came downstairs the bar was Closed. So now I must wait 45 minutes for my husband, hungry and thirsty. Would not recommend this Spa to anyone. Definitely didn't start our Wedding Anniversary activities well. Prayerfully it will get better.
