I'm not big on writing reviews even though yelp is the first place I do to for restaurant reviews. I had the most incredible experience at Asha Lombard yesterday. I used to go to Pink in Bloomingdale and loved it but I moved. I don't know if all salons do this but Asha has "levels" of stylists. If you get an intern, which I did, a haircut is only $20. And educator is with the intern every step of the and when your hair done, the educator refines is while teaching the intern. My intern was Claire. She was unbelievable. I showed her and the educator some pics I collected and they started talking shop. It was almost a different language. Wow. Even the way she stands, literally, the way Claire was standing makes a difference, I guess with the wrists. Claire explained what she was doing, really friendly, easy to talk to, very enthusiastic, the time flew by. I felt kind of special because I helped her learn a new technique that was relatively complicated. If you can get an intern to do your hair, jump on it. For $20? And an educator is right there, wow. I had a wonderful experience with Claire. She was able to fix my hair color and even make it beautiful after years of me destroying it with box color. I thought I would be more disappointed that I didn't have more blonde highlights (I'll get them next time) but the color that she gave me is absolutely gorgeous and I really love it. Claire was super sweet and made the process enjoyable by making sure I was always comfortable. I highly recommend her for any color treatment. Booked an appointment and received a call the day of my appointment saying they had to move my 1:30pm appointment to another stylist because Sam wasn't skilled enough to trim my straight shoulder length hair. The only time they could accommodate me was at 5:45pm during my son's baseball game. Needless to say I was left in a pinch trying to find another salon. read more

My husband wanted to treat me to a massage, which should be a nice experience. Much to my dismay the "Swedish" massage was a complete waste of time, weak and unimpressive. I was very specific about asking for a hand massage and to focus on that as much as possible. She spent less time on my hands than she did fluffing the blankets and adding towels to the table. So I was severely disappointed in the lack of fulfilling my request. Also, I had a fresh blow out and put my hair up in a bun to prevent it from getting oily, she removed the clip without asking first and before I could stop her put her oily hands right on my scalp. Then proceeded to scrub my scalp as though she was washing/grinding my hair for several minutes ( way longer than she focused on my hands) so an uncomfortable process which also ruined my hair for my night out that evening. I had nice dinner plans for after the massage but showed up looking like a wet rat. I left the massage almost in tears knowing my husband wanted it to be such a nice treat and I got none of what I requested and a lot of what I didn't want. The onus is on me for not stopping her in time from ruining my hair although the triccoci spa ALWAYS asks before touching your hair. And it's also my own fault for not insisting that she do what I requested, a simple hand massage. I should've stopped her and asked her to stop what she was doing and refocus on my hands since I specifically asked for that and she just blew that off. My guess is they have a timed routine and don't deviate from that even when asked. I would never suggest this place for a quality massage. This review was held in my draft folder from 2 years ago. Still worth posting - I had a free night to get away from family responsibilities so I took it! Where did I end up going? Nope not out with old friends, not out to make new ones either or to a bar...but to the spa at Asha Salon! My visit to Asha Salon was extremely pleasant. Probably mostly due to the fact that they accommodated my last minute request for a massage. I had a gift certificate burning in my purse...and can you believe I've waited over a year to use it!? The front desk was extremely friendly and when I arrived welcomed me with an offer of tea or water. They set me up with robe and bath slippers and a locker to put all my things in. The waiting room was pleasant, with 6-8 leather club chairs, river stone walls, and Aveda fragrances abound. My massage was with Alex who did a 30 minute massage. It focused mostly on shoulders, neck and back which was completely fine with me because isn't that where most people harbor their stresses anyway? I finished the evening with a shower which was decked out with Aveda shampoo, conditioner and body wash. The shower heads were of particular interest as you had so many to choose from- regular shower head, rain head, side jets. Not sure why one would use so many different types...but it was entertaining playing around with all the options. read more

I went in for a scalp treatment and was definitely looking forward to one. I love the products however the experience was so so. Most places ask about water temperature and I believe it defeats the purpose to use hot water on hair. I was happy with how my hair looked after, but a few days it was completely dry. I called the salon and the only was to come in for a free consultation, and upselling me on buying more product when my hair is just fine and it was indeed the reformulated product that dried my hair out. read more

Located at Yorktown Mall, Asha is the perfect location for me since it's very close to where I work. Stylist: I absolutely love Stevie! She is professional, creative and knows hair. Cut: It took me a very long time to find someone that I could trust my hair with. My hair isn't that hard, long layers done but you'd be surprised. I have never had a bad cut and they always grow out amazingly well. Color: Over a year ago I told Stevie that I wanted to make a change from my dark brown hair to grey/silver . As most clients who want to go from dark brown to grey, I showed her a picture and said this is what I want. She kindly let me know that the change won't happen over night but it would take a few sessions to get me where I wanted. I'm so glad I took her advice. Over the past year and half, she has transformed my hair! I wouldn't trust anyone else. I've receive so many compliments on my color and it's all because of Stevie's great work. Salon: Friendly and professional reception. Offered delicious hot tea or water when you arrive. CLEAN Technology: Love the email and text reminders of my appointments. Worst experience ever, left in tears and seemed like no one cared. Went yesterday for a bleach touch up by Katie. Didn't expect any problems as I had a color consultation with her last Wednesday, she said it would be no problem. All was well until she passed me off to another stylist so she could conduct an interview to a potential employee. Skyler then took over and was rinsing our my toner. She shampooed me around 5 or 6 times and I had a gut feeling something was wrong. We went back to her station, I looked up to find my hair was PURPLE. Not just a tint of purple- all purple. Skyler said "is it too purple? We could try a beige toner over it to get rid of some of the purple." I said yes to the beige toner as I cannot leave with purple hair, I work in health care with cancer patients and need to look professional. Skyler applied the beige toner, meanwhile I kept glancing in the mirror to see the purple changing over to a muddy brown (as you can see by my yelp photo, my hair is platinum blonde). Katie then came back over to check on Skyler and this beige toner. They both agreed it looked better and it was time to rinse it out. Skyler rinsed out the toner and kept saying "well at least you won't leave with purple hair", so I thought all was well. We go To her station again, I look up and there it was ; ashy/brown/muddy/greenish hair now. I said "it's brown now!!!!" Skyler offers to go back to the shampoo bowl to try and shampoo me again to try and fade out the toner a little bit or she tells me to try the same process at home. Umm what???? So a professional salon can't fix this? The recommendation was to go home and shampoo it myself and "give it a few days to fade or I can try to lighten you again ". Lighten me again??? So I can leave bald?! I was so furious and distraught and just wanted to get out of there I said fine I'll try this at home myself and give it a few days. The best part is....Katie never came back to check on me or check me out ...AND...Had the audacity to still charge me $95 for this mess on my head. Skyler said "we gave you 20% off". As if they are doing me a favor for their faulty work. At my consultation Katie said I would be out the door at $100, so how is $95 20% off of $100?!?!? I did not argue with them as there was a lady standing next to me at the front desk, other clients getting services, and I just really wanted to get the hell out of there as my eyes were welling up with tears. How can you charge a client for purple hair, pass her off to another stylist, make her try to fix it, and never come back to see the final ugly color? Poor customer service. I feel ripped off and deceived and my hair is not what I was promised, I have been up all night crying over this. (Oh, but my next service is free!!!! What a deal, because I'll never go back there). Even Skyler said "I won't be able to sleep over this.". Also Skyler told me that aveda doesn't Make products to make this icy platinum blonde that I wanted AKA a bleach touch up....So why did I waste my time with Katie and a color Consultation and she said it would be no problem. And again, why was I charged for two people messing up my hair, and I still left the salon with no resolution to this. I really hope to be contacted by a manager to share my displeasure regarding my experience yesterday. I will not return and I look forward to going back to Mario tricoci Too and paying $220 for a bleach touch up, at least I know it will be money well spent and the color I asked for. I've been coming on and off for a variety of services (hair color, hair conditioning, scalp treatment, blowout, facial) since they opened. The service quality varies between visits on all fronts: from the phone, front desk, and esthetician/stylist. The esthetician services on the spa side seem a little more consistent than on the hair/nails side. Meanwhile hair services have varied from impassive to impatient, and am struggling to find hair service here that will keep me as a returning customer. Three of the times I've come for hair appointments (2 scalp treatments and 1 blowout) there was a scramble to find a stylist to help me several minutes after my appointment time went by. Last night I arrived 10 minutes early and had to wait 20 minutes after my appointment before a stylist came over--profusely apologetic of course. The product line and services menu are spectacular, and if you sign up for their email newsletters you will undoubtedly enjoy amazing deals and heads up on special events. I mostly come here now to purchase refills on my Aveda standby products, but will make a habit of coming back for the esthetician I found who I like very much. They cannot add gratuity to the credit card/debit card payments, so bring extra cash. This place is clean, sleek, well appointed, comfortable. I'm in the midst of training for another marathon during the worst winter ever, so my legs basically have the flexibility of a 2x4. After reading a few reviews, I was a little hesitant about what I would get here but I was going to go anyways since I had a giftcard! I scheduled last minute for a stress-fix pedicure with a paraffin add on. Upon arrival, the woman at the front desk was very friendly. I was surprised that she took my coat and that she asked if I wanted water or tea-and I had the choice of cucumber water which to my surprise wasn't stale like most places that offer it. I got there fairly early, so I had a little but of a wait but it wasn't long after my scheduled time that I was taken to the back for my pedicure. During my wait, I was able to admire all of the beautiful decor inside. From tapestry to wall decals to colorful stone walls, it was very nice. Also to my surprise, the woman doing my pedicure, (myelle?) I know it started with a m and ended with elle. Anyways, she asked if I wanted a heated neck pad and that was amazing to me. So relaxing! I picked out a color and quickly put my feet in the water. Right away she was very friendly and not too talkative. Very charismatic and made my stay very enjoyable. We laughed and talked about a wide range of topics. She told me she had never performed the stress-fix pedicure but I think she did a great job. The massage was great and there was never a time in my treatment that I felt uncomfortable or stressed. I was surprised that the paraffin treatment wasn't included in the stress-fix pedicure but I added it on regardless. I was also surprised when the paraffin was in a bag but maybe that's the right way and they did it to me the wrong way before! Either way it was so nice, especially when she put the warm slippers around the paraffin bags. After the painting of my toes, I sadly had to run out of there with the slippers still on! I had to walk and pick up my take out order with those things on- whatever, it was still awesome and nothing was killing my mood. I'll have to save up for the next time I decide to come here because I won have a giftcard and it is slightly expensive but it's worth it. You get what you pay for. This place just keeps going downhill.. Went back for another 1/2 off promotion. Came in 15 minutes early of what I thought was the start time of my massage. Somehow my massage was moved to 11:30 instead of 12. The woman at the front desk kinda was very sarcastic about how "I" had messed up the time, and that the "emails were automatic, and should have shown the right time." Wow, GREAT customer service huh!? After this little set back, fast forward to the massage. My massage with Adrian was definitely worthy of a 5 star review, but that's where it stops. I opted for the hydrotherm massage. It was really an hour of bliss! Adrian was awesome, and really knew what he was doing. I loved this part of my experience! Then comes the crap...I moved on to a pedicure. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH A PEDICURE FROM HERE. Basically, all i got was a polish change, and a foot soak. We paid for the peppermint pedicure. It was supposed to give us hot chocolate and the sorts. What we got was instant cocoa that wasn't even fully dissolved into a cold glass of water. BLECH. Not to mention that the two girls doing the pedicures had the personality of a wall that was drying paint. The younger girl (I think her name was Mary) kept complaining about how much "stuff" she had to do, and why didn't she ask for Christmas eve off. Wow, I'm sorry that I treated my mom to a day at the spa, only to get this whiny, complaining girl to wait on us. Over all, I was right. This place is in SERIOUS need of a staff overhaul. Eehhh... the salon itself looks great! The November special was the best thing ever! 50% off any service... heck yeah!!! and then another 3 of the same service at half off as well.. even better! My triple moisture massage was awesome! Inga (5 stars for you!!!) was great, and my body was truly moisturized and felt nice and smooth for quite some time. BUT!!! when I called to make an appointment (sometime at the end of October), I made an appointment for a triple moisture massage, hydrating manicure, and hydrating pedicure... well.. they did have my massage scheduled for that Saturday morning, BUT somehow my manicure & pedicure were scheduled for the day before. And of course, Saturday morning is probably one of their busiest times, they could not "squeeze" me in for any of my hydrating treatments... i did get a pedicure that was mediocre... I can do that myself! and changed my nail polish on my hands. the polish started chipping off after a few days... The only reason I will go back there is to see Inga... The checkout took forever, they never apologized for the mess-up with scheduling... sucky customer service! I was expecting a nice relaxing day, and I left pissed off :( read more

I like me some Asha Salon. Well let me specify- for spa services. I have gotten my hairs cut and colored here and it just wasn't up to snuff. Very suburbany. I recently booked myself a massage and facial. Both services were blissful relaxing hours of amazingness. And for the most part they are....I'll break it down for you: Cons: Reception staff could be a little friendlier and informative. I wasn't informed as to which service was happening first. Secondly after my first service I was left to sit and wonder when and if the next service was happening...did they know I was still sitting here? It was a longggg sit. Also staff needs to check changing rooms and make sure there are slippers, robes, and towels. I had to go from changing room to changing room looking for slippers- shouldn't have to. I also didn't have enough cash on me to tip both my technicians- oh wait there's an ATM in the lobby. Oh wait it's out of service. I had to go run around the mall to find an ATM machine...why oh why can't you add a tip onto your charge statement?!?!?!?!?!?! Huge buzz kill after all that relaxing. Pros: The waiting area is really soothing and there is a option of cucumber or lemon water. There are also gentle snacks. Both technicians did a consultation with me before starting the services, thank you for asking! Throughout both services I was asked how everything was going. Both services were really really good. I've had pedicures here before and loved them. That reminds me to make an appointment for one... So all in all the front desk could use a little more customer service training. So I tried them again....and was much happier this time around! From my last review, the manager had contacted me to talk about my review and my experience at Asha. She apologized and offered me a discount to return and try another therapist and/or another service. This time, I chose to do the Stress Relief massage because it said it was more of a deep-tissue massage than the Road Warrior massage. I also had a different therapist, Alice. When I arrived, I again got the sheet that outlined my likes and dislikes as well as any allergies. When I was escorted to the spa area, it was very clean (a turnaround from the last time I was there!) and there weren't any random cups :) Alice came to get me from the reception area, and really made me feel calm and relaxed. We talked through my massage, and I told her I was looking for a firmer/deeper massage. She did mention that a deep-tissue was $15 more. She did, however, say that we could see how I liked the pressure that she provide, and if I really wanted the deep-tissue, she could apply it mid-massage. Overall, the massage was great! Alice gave me a combination of deep tissue and pressure points. I also really appreciated that Alice checked on my allergies that I had written on the info sheet. I wrote that I had a peanut allergy, and she double checked with me that I wasn't allergic to almonds, because the majority of their essential oils' base was almond oil. I've gone to Asha for years, and this is the first I've heard of this! I wasn't allergic, but you'd think that this is something each therapist would mention. This was a much better experience than my last at Asha. I feel much more confident recommending them after this experience! read more

I don't know how to compare Asha with any other salon because I scheduled my 60 minute massage this morning and got in at noon, and had the most relaxing experience! I had a 85 dollar gift card which is exactly how much the massage cost. I got a lemon flavored water in greeting and after less than a minute was directed into the "spa area." It was beautiful. Peaceful, dark, and a nature type of ambiance. I got changed into a robe with slippers and locked my belongings up and proceeded to the waiting room. Less than a minute later I was introduced to Autumn, she was quiet and sweet. The massage was great! I was sooo relaxed and felt comfortable the whole time! Earlier this week, I came here in the midst of a pretty horrible day, hoping that a mani/pedi would let me chill out and breathe a little bit. Unfortunately, that didn't really happen. My nail tech was super, super talkative. I understand that part of working at a salon/spa is chatting up your clients, but sometimes your client just wants to relax - like when she sits down at the pedicure station and pulls her book out as a giant hint. But some people are just super chatty no matter the circumstances, so I painfully made do with the situation. The quality of my pedicure itself was pretty great, and the tech did exactly as requested. The manicure felt a little rushed. Some of my finger nails were filed crooked and it drove me so bonkers that I removed the polish only 2 days after so I could fix the shape of my nails. I awarded 3 stars because the front desk staff were incredibly nice, and I think that counts for a lot at places like this. So I may return, but would certainly request a different nail tech. I know you can't please everyone - my sister works at a high end spa, and I think people can expect the world from places like this. I just wanted a little peace and relaxation. read more

I went to Asha a couple of months back but wanted to think about my review before I posted it. I really wish I could give Asha Five stars! I really do - but I can't. Let me give you the reasons why this place is worthy of five stars: Great phone customer service - when I called to obtain information on the services they provided, the prices and to book my appointment, the receptionist was information, spoke clearly, was courteous and extremely professional. When I arrived, I was immediately addressed, checked in, offered a beverage and sent the the waiting area which was clean, comfortable and relaxing. It wasn't long before my masseuse greeted me. John (I believe his name was John) was very nice as he ushered me to a changing room and showed me how to use the storage locker for my personal items. The changing room was dimly lit, comfortable and clean. There was no dust and the locker was roomy and easy to operate. I changed into a robe and slippers. The robe was high quality - thick, long and lush and the slippers were comfortable. John came to retrieve me and off we went to the massage room. The room was perfect, it was clean, spacious, the color scheme was extremely relaxing and the room temperature was perfect. The massage table was set up to look like a bed and it was extremely comfortable. The massage started with him cleaning my feet and letting me select the fragrance he used for my massage. There were three natural essential oil selections to choose from. While he cleaned/massaged my feet we discussed what kind of massage I wanted and where my high stress areas were on my body. The massage was good. He massaged my entire body and worked out two knots - one in my shoulder and the other just below that spot on my upper back. I felt that he listed to me and focused on my high tension area as I requested. I was offered another glass of cucumber water upon my departure. The next day I received a follow up phone call from an employee just to check on me and ensure I had a great experience. I was not expecting this and I really appreciated this high level of customer service. Why I can't give this place 5 stars: 1. Tipping. They should tell you on the phone that you can not tip on your credit card. I went to leave a tip and that was when I was told they don't accept credit card tips. The hostess/cashier then directed me to an ATM machine that was about 10 feet behind me - but I have an issue with being charged from the ATM and then from my bank for using other provider ATMs. I had to drive to my nearest bank location, make a withdraw and then come back to provide the tip - what a terrible experience for someone who just received a massage! 2. Massage Experience. Though my masseuse was so very very nice, attentive, professional and good at his job, he was not excellent. This is not a diss to him, he just needs more training, confidence in his craft and more massage experience. I felt that several times he was nervous about touching me (I am used to being massaged I just want you to relieve the pain that my high stress job has caused to my body so I may begin again on Monday) or hesitated trying to determine what to do next, which cause me to focus on him rather than just relaxing and letting my mind drift. I suspect in a year or two he will be worthy of five stars if Asha continues to send him to continuing education classes and he does more massages. read more

Was hopeful for a good experience here. It's a decent location with ample parking. The salon has an appealing contemporary vibe. I booked online which is a convenient option. HOWEVER, I will not be returning. My cut was rushed and the stylist did not even ask if it was to my liking. As it turns out, it is not. One side is visibly longer. The color is not much better. The highlights are like tiger stripes. Bummer. I'll have to go elsewhere to have it fixed. read more
