Hard pass on this place First time here, didn't know they close at 2 pm. Was attempting to get a coffee prior to my 4 pm shift. Car drives up and woman says "we're closed" I am surprised at early close hours and simply say that and she RUDELY SNAPS- "it's not early for us! " Then the crumbled chimp who co-owns gets out of the car and barks that he owns the place and says "I can close when I want to" WTF is wrong with these two toddlers???? I grew up in restaurant world and we would never talk to our customers like that. Plenty of Asheville coffee shops with people who actually know how to run the joint and engage pleasantly. The place looks like a garbage dump to boot. Drive on over to High Five and avoid these nasties. read more

I pass Get Roasted every day on my way home, and never paid it much attention. I was a little skeptical of the walk-up order only, but today I finally decided to give it a try; and oh am I glad I did! The owners, Greg and Andi, were a delightful and kind couple with a passion for their little cafe. Whoever wrote the review saying they were rude must be out of their mind, because Andi's smile alone brightened this rainy day! ACR's coffee and food are a genuine treat. If you like high quality, strong espresso drinks, get ready to fall in love! The lavender latte is bold and smooth with sweet floral notes. The croissant sandwich I got, toasted to flaky buttery perfection, was out of this world paired with Asheville local goat cheese. I will absolutely return and encourage everyone to try it! I swung by this coffee shop on the way to a hike because a friend said it was the best in town and it did not disappoint! Lavender coffees sometimes taste soapy but this one tasted very floral and sweet. They also have bagels and pastry options which all sounded great! My friend unfortunately didn't inform me that we would be swinging by here so I already ate breakfast.. The staff was also super welcoming and friendly so I will definitely be coming back! read more

My mom and I stopped by twice during our trip. They recognized us in our second visit! The fig and brie croissant and the avocado croissant were amazing. I had the Mexican latte and the lavender latte. Their housemade lavender syrup was superb. The owners also talked to us about Biltmore and then asked the following day about our night prior seeing the lights. We were shocked they remembered - as they seemed to do a decent business. The inside was closed but the walk up window ordering was still personable. And there was a decent selection of seating available outside. We opted to eat in the car. Highly recommend. read more

Greg and Andi operate the finest, most customer friendly coffee shop in Asheville. I've been a customer for years and have watched as they treated customers as though they were close friends. Loved this place! It's a quaint, simplistic, cozy coffee house. The coffee was delicious. The owners are in-house. We got to talk with the owner about the history of Asheville Coffee Roasters. He even pulled out old photographs to show their beginnings 20 years ago. What a special experience that you cannot come across often in today's world. I just moved to the area and was excited about there being a coffee shop just up the road from and and I called to ask about the kind of dairy milk they use and if it is local or not and whoever the guy was answering the phone was so incredibly rude. He raised his voice and gave me an incredibly rude and smart comment back. I will never go to this place and will never suggest anyone to go here. We called back to ask for his name and he wouldn't provide it but whoever this is is terrible for the business. read more

Asheville Coffee Roasters! Wow. I take my coffee very seriously. For my espresso machine at home... I used to buy Whole Bean Italian Roast (Peet's Coffee) at the Fresh Market. However, Fresh Market now only carries Ground and not Whole Bean. I knew I had to find another supplier. I had never been to ACR at their old location on Patton avenue, but I noticed that they moved down Merrimon towards Weaverville. They are coffee experts, and friendly. The owners have relationships with some brokers around the globe... they roast fresh beans EVERY DAY. Originally I had planned on moving towards roasting my own beans - just to be as fresh as possible. Now that I have discovered ACR, there is no need! Come here to buy beans or espresso drinks! You get a free small latte if you buy a pound of beans. PROS: Simply, hands down the best coffee you can get in Asheville. Buy a latte. You will be amazed. CONS: They close early... way early. Like 4:30pm! They are closed on the weekends too. This place is not run like an espresso bar. read more

However, even though the coffee is more than decent, the list of positive attributes of this coffee establishment largely stops there. The space within the shop itself is small and somewhat cramped, and as others have mentioned they have very limited hours. Nonetheless, this is a more than viable option when you need a cup of joe to go. Furthermore, the staff and owners here are seemingly very friendly (they happily served me when I walked through their open doors at 4:32pm, unaware that they closed at 4:30). Bottom line: If you find yourself dragging and need a caffeinated pick me up, you would do well stopping by Asheville Coffee Roasters. Just be sure to get there before they close! read more

Coffee would have been a fair price if the quality was at all up to par. My husband and I love good coffee! If you do too, I highly recommend this place! If you enjoy tasting your coffee, you know, a little syrup in your coffee as opposed to a little coffee in your syrup then go here. Otherwise, stay at starsux... We both got a triple vanilla latte and also a pound of their whole beans to bring home. Wonderful! I'm so surprised there was only one rating for this place on here, but not surprised it was for 5 stars! We will definitely be back the next time we are in town. Watch out for their hours though, they close earlier than most and I believe are closed on weekends. The couple that own it are super friendly and have been doing this for well over 20 years! We are here evacuating Miami due to Hurricane Irma and although we've been coming to this part of Asheville for many many years, we stumbled upon this place by mistake on this visit. I'll be short with my review like I was short with my visit. I will also preface my review by saying, "My name is Michael, and I am not a coffee drinker." So why would a non-coffee drinker stop at the coffee shop? Well my wife is a coffee drinker and she wanted a nice cup of coffee. I just really needed to use the bathroom. When we went in the big sign on the door that said bathroom for customers only ans since my wife was going to buy coffee and I thought well I'll buy hot chocolate and use the bathroom. Unfortunately the bathroom was out of order. I ordered my three dollar hot chocolate and danced around the seating area that on a good day could seat five people. My hot chocolate cup was only about halfway full of liquid which was a real shame since it was really tasty. My wife said her coffee was good too and that my rating was more of a reflection of my bad mood since I really needed to pee. read more

I had my dog groomed at Shear-N-Shine this morning and headed next door to Asheville Coffee Roasters to pass the time and grab a cup of coffee. What a hidden gem in an unassuming old strip mall! I moved here from a bigger city that had coffee shops like this - cozy, quirky, community-oriented. And surprisingly I hadn't yet found one here in Asheville. Well I have now! Conversations sparked up between total strangers and I passed the hour feeling like I was among new friends. In a time of division and isolation, this opportunity to share stories across interests, generations and backgrounds was a welcome balm.
