We have visited Yellow Mug many times while visiting our grandchildren. Each and every time we are more impressed. The grands always beg to have breakfast before school. Today my little granddaughter had the French toast. She loved every bite. My favorite thing is the sausage gravy biscuit, so hardy and tasty. We came on the Sunday morning of July 4 weekend. There was plenty of seating and it was pleasant outside so we sat on the patio. The food was good and came out quick. I had biscuits and gravy and it was excellent. I will say the hashbrowns were pretty terrible though. Really, really dry and flavorless. Everyone got their morning coffee orders, which were all accurate and excellent. Overall, it was a nice experience and will definitely be back when we're in the local area. We had a group of 16 and I honestly wasn't sure how our experience would be simply bc sometimes large groups make everything more complicated, BUT we had the BEST experience! The staff were kind and friendly! The food came out quickly and everything was very good! Bagels and biscuits are a must get! We had to sit at different tables due to our size, but that wasn't an issue for us! They have high chairs for little ones and all of our 5 kiddos approved of the food options! We are not quite local, over the mountain in East TN. Visited today on our way home from Marshall. Both of us had the breakfast platter which I cannot find the name on the online menu. It was a LOT of food that neither of us could finish! What stood out... the biscuits in the biscuits and gravy. SOOOOO AMAZINGLY good. I have never had the biscuit be the standout. The gravy was excellent too, but have I mentioned the biscuit??? ;) If I was not stuffed I would have ordered more. We will be back on our next trip to WNC! read more

This is your quintessential neighborhood coffee house - and my husband and I ended up stopping by Yellow Mug twice during a quick weekend trip because it was THAT good! We were staying in the Weaverville area, which made this a convenient stop for us - but I highly recommend making the short drive up from Asheville for this eclectic little coffee shop. You won't regret it (and downtown Weaverville is worth seeing!) Although we only experienced coffee and baked goods to-go, we could tell this is a great place to sit down and enjoy breakfast or lunch. On our first visit, I ordered their "Espresso Shaker," which is comparable to a Shaken Espresso from Starbucks, but more sweet and creamy. The second time around, I went with the "Salted Almond Roca" latte, which was absolutely delicious, and something I've never tried before! I recommend either of these drinks if you like your coffee on the sweet side, although I believe you could get the Espresso Shaker without flavor if you'd like. We also sampled a few of their pastries, and highly recommend either the Ham & Cheese croissant or the Banana Walnut muffin (although I'm sure you can't go wrong here!) Their cookies also looked spectacular, and we kept meaning to stop by and grab some to-go in the afternoon, but just didn't get around to it. The only thing we felt was missing was physical yellow mugs for us to purchase and take home as a souvenir! Quite simply the best biscuits and gravy I have had in 20 years. We were on our way home from Asheville with a powerful need for breakfast and coffee before we made the journey. I try to at all times support local businesses and saw this was on the way and checked off the boxes to support and sustain. We found it easily and parking was small from what I saw but there could have been more. As we made our way to the front entrance we saw outside seating but it was chilly so hopefully there would be more. It is counter service with tables and from the looks plenty of locals. I ordered the biscuits and gravy ($5.00) and a honey lavender latte. The others, including my wife ordered avocado toast. I was extremely happy with my biscuits and gravy that came in a bowl. Two soft handmade biscuits were covered in a blanket of sausage gravy. As I said it was the best I have had in 20 years with the gravy perfectly seasoned with no dominant flavors but having a rich inclusion of all ingredients. The others tried my dish (under watchful eye not to take too much). They all agreed with me on it being great. I wish I lived closer for sure. read more

ONE OF BEST BREAKFAST PLACES EVER !!!! Everything was delicious.. seriously. I got the avocado toast with eggs on top that came with a crisp salad. It had pickled red onions on it that gave it that perfect balance of acid. I had one of their huge coffee cake muffins that was warm and so good. My husband got the $5 biscuit and gravy bowl and it was literally the best he's ever had. Service was friendly and food came out fast. They had really hilarious decor throughout and the place was clean and little with a beautiful outdoor seating area when weather permits. I was impressed by (a) their selection of coffee beans, (b) their gluten free and vegan pastry and fresh breakfast sandwich options and (c) the taste of their coffee. I'm staying here for a week and wanted some coffee for my Airbnb, so I swung I. Grabbed a small coffee and liked it enough to buy a pound of their dark roast beans. It was really inexpensive for fresh roasted coffee (under $17 for a pound). Didn't try anything to eat but the part case was impressive and the menu looked very good. Service was very friendly. I've wondered if they changed owners or the owner changed attitude toward profit margin... There's been some small tells but today I spent $17 on a vegan muffin, a custard danish and chai latte. The muffin was dry and too crumbly, the danish seriously appeared and tasted to be at least a day old and the latte with almond milk tasted.... weird. Too much cardamon? Flavored milk? So glad we found this little breakfast spot not too far from our Airbnb! I finally got my biscuits and gravy fix I'd been wanting for weeks. The gravy was thinner than I was use to but it was delicious and the biscuits were big and fluffy! Their chai tea latte was on point. I really appreciated their attention to detail. Someone (I'm assuming the owner or manger) came by pretty early on to check on all the tables and noticed my chai wasn't as dark as he liked it. Honestly, I thought it was just fine but appreciated the gesture. He asked if he could take my drink and make it right. I also saw him talk to one of the baristas to let them know they needed to add more chai. Towards the end of the meal he came around again to check on everyone and asked if my chai was better.
