ZERO stars from me. Last year in September we went to purchase some furniture at this Ashley store in Linden NJ. We bought a sleigh bed for my daughter with box spring and mattress and a dresser for our bedroom. We were told we will get a phone call within two to three business days with a delivery date. We waited over a month for the furniture to arrive. When it finally arrived and the delivery driver opened my daughters sleigh bed it was full of scuff marks, dings, dents and scratches. Thinking to myself, how can this be out of the box. I rejected the bed and send it back. I called the store but this store never seems to answer their phone, so we decided to go there. I was told that I would receive a phone call in two to three business days with a new delivery date. Well that turned into me having to revisit the store once again for answers. We waited another month for the sleigh bed. When it finally arrived, again it had marks to which with my frustration I decided to keep the bed since they were'nt as bad as the last ones. So this Covid year we decided to visit the store and give them the benefit of the doubt, plus it's convenient, less than a mile away. This time we bought a sofa, an accent chair and a bench for our bedroom. Again we were told "you will get a phone call within two to three business days with a delivery date". I think that line is part of their training methods. Two to three business days turned into three weeks of me calling with no answer and no delivery date. So what do we do, we decided to pay the store a visit. As were walking in, there was a young lady with her face buried in her phone, not eager to at least give us a proper greeting. So we approach the counter. We explained to the young lady our situation, she says "actually you were supposed to call us" "OH REALLY, cause I'm calling you right now and the phone isn't ringing". The two ladies sitting behind the counter next to her looked like a couple of bobble heads when they heard me say that. So we were told "due to the pandemic" you've heard it too, I'm sure. So I get a phone call about two weeks later with a delivery date and they actually delivered on the day. But here is where it gets good. The accent chair had to be picked up at the store because it was on clearance so I went the next Monday to pick it up. As I back up the truck to pick up my chair I see the warehouse bay door open up and there is my chair sitting in a dirty warehouse uncovered, unprotected. So I asked "do you guys wrap this up in plastic or cardboard or something"? To which I was told "oh no, we don't do that" i said "do what, protect your costumers investments"? So I left with my chair. When the delivery arrived, I instructed the driver where to put the bench that he took out of the truck, unwrapped, unprotected (see a pattern here?). While his partner unwrapped my sofa in front of the house. When the bench was placed in it's spot, I noticed two stains on it as if someone was sitting on it in a dirty warehouse. So naturally I rejected the bench. Even though the sofa was wrapped, I still inspected it just to be sure and we kept it. I went back to the store, at this point i don't want a new bench, i want my money back. I expressed my frustrating experiences to "the manager" she was emotionless to it all as if she has heard this all before. Needless to say we will never revisit this store again and it will never get a recommendation from me. They have horrible costumer service, staff and ZERO respect for the consumers. read more

I tried, I really did but this location is horrible! The only good experience I received was with the sales person upon purchase, but following my purchase I've had the most difficult time EVER! I was initially given a random ridiculous delivery window of three months to get my furniture. I didn't like it, but it wasn't a huge deal. The sales person gave me their personal cell number and suggested that I call him directly in order to get an accurate delivery date. Outside of calling his personal line, each time that I called the store for assistance I received attitudes, once in the evening and once in the afternoon. Two different reps, both with terrible attitudes. The one that answered the phone at night picked up the line and sat it down on the desk while she cursed and had side conversations complaining about the customers. When I hung up and called back several times, she FINALLY answered and gave me attitude, then put me on hold. These people answer the phones clearly frustrated and are very short with you, as though you THE CUSTOMER are bothering THEM. What kind of customer service is this for a business where people are spending thousands of their hard earned dollars? I have $5000 in credit that I wont be returning to use! read more

Flat Out Lied About Delivery Date!! I specifically chose this store over the Paramus, NJ location because I was promised a delivery date. I should have been skeptical when they wouldn't give me a date when I ordered the item, and was told they'd call me two days later to confirm date and time of delivery. When I didnt recieve a call - I had to call the store over a dozen times to reach a sales rep to only be told that my couch won't be delivered for over a month! These sales reps are LIARS, and won't work with me to move up the date. THIS. IS. RIDICULOUS. read more

I went to Ashley to purchase a sofa, Lauren helped me and she was wonderful, she wasn't the least bit pushy she gave me my space to look around and she was there when I needed assistance, as we walked around the manager Meddy introduced himself and said if we had any questions he would be happy to assist. Everyone was friendly and there was a big selection. I found what I was looking for and even the financial part of this shopping experience was easy. Briana helped with that end, she was so pleasant and knowledgable and made sure I understood everything before I left. Overall shopping at Ashley was a pleasant experience. read more

I bought a living rooms set: a couch, love seat, 2 end tables and a coffee table. our salesmen showed us the floor set and explained to us that the table with the floor set was not the actual tables that we will be receiving, but he showed us our tables in a magazine. The furniture was delivered 1 week later then scheduled because the day it was supposed to be delivered it snowed. The day it finally came the guys said that the tables could not be delivered because the glue has dried up and the glass fell off so they will be delivered soon and I would have to call. One week later the tables were sent and they were not the ones that we were promised. When I called they insisted that these were the ones that they told me I would be getting and that I had no proof, which is ridiculous. read more

This was my first experience buying furniture on my own. I'm always a bit weary of the quality of the products here so I took my time looking around and doing some research on my phone on various materials and types of wood. Once a selection was made, we sate for what I assumed was the check out process. About an hour and 20 minutes. Once the paperwork was completed I expected to receive my copies and head home.....We were told to head to the office....for check out. I think from the look on my face the sales person could tell my head was on its way to exploding so he motioned for the clerk to try and push us to the front of the line. Even with this small favor, the entire process ate up a whopping 2 hours and 30 minutes. Later on when my first piece was delivered, after the deliverymen left I noticed two huge gashes in the wood. Furniture ok Business is not. I ordered a youth bedroom set for my daughter. 1) the sales people were not very informed. I'd decided I was interested in the set and asked for the total price to get it with the daybed w/ trundle option. The salesperson I had took about 20 mins then eventually had to call another woman over to help him. Another 20 minutes later and I received a price that I was satisfied with. The woman who'd taken over was better informed and when I asked her if the trundle bed could take an ordinary twin size mattress she told me no, that a trundle mattress was needed. I told her I'd have my daughter decide and would be back when she was next working which was a Monday. I was told that day that she'd just left and after a long wait for a sales person a crotchety older man came to assist. We'd already decided to purchase and I only wanted to pay. This man asked me three times if I'd already been given a price and I'd repeatedly told him yes, finally asking why he kept asking. I also asked him about the needed mattress size and he told me a regular twin was fine. I had a measuring tape and told him I was asking just to be sure and he took me around to other beds to reassure me a regular twin would fit. Needless to say I was doubtful. He then proceeded to write up the sales adding an additional $500 from the price i was quoted. Apparently these sales people cannot figure out how to read and calculate their own printed price info. I stopped him immediately and told him this wasn't the price I'd been quoted, which was written on the saleswoman's card that I had with me. Shockingly, he told me to come back when she was there. I then asked for a manager and after a long wait a man came over, asked me the price I'd been quoted then disappeared for another 20 mins. I finally went over to ask what was going on and also asked him if he was the manager. He was not the manager. I was upset that I was lied to. He then told me the price the other woman gave me was wrong but the price he gave was only $18 more. Why this whole thing was taking so long is beyond me. The fact that price seems to take more than an hour to calculate makes me very suspicious. I then asked him about the mattress situation and he confirmed the 1st sales person, a regular twin wouldn't fit. I pointed out that the other salesperson was giving seriously wrong info that could cause major problems and he responded that the other guy was old. After this conversation it still took another HOUR to get the transaction done. I came to the store w/ my daughter ready to BUY and had only a very minor question, in over 30 yrs of furniture buying I've never had such an awful in-store experience. 2)I was told that Saturday delivery is NOT available as an option at all. Sunday is but not Saturday; I've never heard of this. I took the Sunday delivery. I was asked what floor I lived on and I explained I lived in a duplex, a townhouse and that the items were going on the upper floor. I was charged $119 for delivery. 3) the delivery occurred 1/2 hr before the end of the timeframe I'd been given. A generic, unmarked truck pulled up and one of the delivery men came in. Within 30 seconds he was telling me that I had to pay $20 more because furniture was going to the third floor. I do not have a 3rd fl. The guy was nasty and told me either the store or I had to pay, made no difference to him. I told him that he'd be wise to call the store. When I got on the phone the first thing said to me was that I needed to read the back of my sales contract; incensed, I told the guy that I'd clearly informed the sales person where the furniture was going and that he had the option of going online to view my residence where he'd clearly see that my DUPLEX does not have a 3rd floor, after a short time on hold he asked to speak to the delivery guy and needless to say I did not pay additional money. Clearly, $20 is not a make or break situation but the principal of it is. Had I had to pay, the delivery guys wouldn't have been tipped. All in all four guys were in the truck but it was mainly 2 guys then 3 bringing everything in. I had to ask that they properly tighten the knobs on all items because they were all loose. The kicker is, they could not attach the trundle panel to the frame because there were no SCREWS. The guy said he'd check the truck when it came back, yes the truck had LEFT. In the mean time, the guy is hanging around my house trying to call the warehouse which of course is closed at 7pm on a Sunday. When the truck returns he looks and still no screws. I was advised to refuse the delivery of that piece and told to call customer service on Tuesday, Monday, they're closed. Again, I never heard of this. Can you begin to imagine that the delivery man couldn't complete set-up because screws are missing? That was on August 18, today is september 3 and I'm still waiting for this piece. I was told this part had to be ordered, wtf! Not happy. read more

Ashley Furniture We furniture in November, 2013 at an Ashley Furniture in New jersey.. One of the couches was beige corduroy with loose back pillows. There was so little fill in the pillows we had to go to Michaels to buy filler. Being older I am used to turning the seating cushions every week. Imagine my surprise when I attempted to turn the cushions to find if the area was not in view of eye sight it was not beige corduroy but some inexpensive shinny material! At least Bob's Furniture tells you up front about doing this with their furniture. The bedroom set was equally disappointing. I have cats and I could not understand why hair was sticking to the bottom of the wooden bed frame. I bent down to see what was going on to find that if the wood is not visible by the naked eye it is not painted or finished. Farther investigation found lots of compressed wood/particle board incorporated in with the wood. The back of the end table, the back of the chest and the back of the dresser are a thick cardboard. Shouldn't signs be posted advising the public that lower quality items are mixed in with the good stuff? This entire experience was soooo disappointing!!!! read more

The absolute cheapest furniture you can buy. These ppl have decent prices but you pay for what you get. So the salesman "Eddie" sells us a warranty and says, if anything happens we'll fix or replace your furniture. You could literally take a knife to it and we'll fix or replace it. If the table or chairs collapses or breaks we'll fix it. Great. So I call the warranty company to make a claim as the dining chair collapses while she was feeding my kid. They come back and say your warranty doesn't cover stuff like that. I don't know what the sales rep told you but we don't cover that. Absolute falsification of sales. Maybe I should have read the entire warranty throughout but who has time to sift through that 10 page document when your moving into a new home And buying furniture tvs etc. don't shop here. Clearly an unethical sales practice. Update: after this I received a call from Ashley and they replaced the chair. So I will give them credit for resolving the problem. If you buy the warranty from here I would recommend getting someone to show you in writing what is promised by the sales rep. read more

3/11/15 Great Experience!!! I recently purchased a Tempur-pedic bed from Ashley about three months prior to writing this review. It was the Tempur Cloud Prima. I slept on in for close to 90 days as Tempur-pedic warranty states then can be returned easily to the store where purchased. I decided to return this mattress "only" because it became much too soft. Tempur-pedic beds take time to adjust to your body weight, body heat and even your room temperature at home... something I didn't know, but was informed about by Calvin the Salesperson at Ashley. I called about the return/exchange since I was going to stay with Tempur-pedic and purchased a firmer mattress called the Tempur-pedic Contour Supreme. This is the bed for me!!! When buying a Tempur-pedic know that is it's very firm in the store even after you lay on it for say 10 minutes, it will become even softer once you've slept on it even within the first week. Understand what you are getting; if it's too soft spend the money and go for a firmer mattress, however if you love soft, ask about the other softer mattresses as well. My cost to upgrade to the next collection was about $256, but well worth it. In total this mattress set was about $2,300 and I will be loving it for many years to come. The main reason for this review was to commend firstly Calvin the Salesperson that helped me and assisted me in both purchases and Scott, the store manage at the Ashley in Linden New Jersey who waived the restocking fee of $250 since I was also buying another mattress from them. This was a very nice gesture of customer service, so with that said, I would recommend that you request both gentlemen Calvin and Scott at this store as they were both professional, respectful, courteous and extended a welcome for my repeat business with their company. He is friendly, professional, knowledgeable and never makes you feel pressured. The store is filled with plenty of options to make everyone happy and it's all good quality. The delivery service was quick and efficient. While we had some minor issues with scratches, each issue was handled professionally with courtesy and concern and resolved in a timely manner. Honest to God go somewhere else. The sales people write up your order and add a 5 year protection plan for hundreds of dollars without even telling you or asking you. The customer service people inside are very hit or miss. Our 3-piece bedroom set came in. The store didn't follow up with the warehouse and the warehouse only delivered 2 of the 3 pieces. Last night, i saw some dining room chairs online and i kid you not went I say, the price reflected $75 (set of 2). In-store... Available to order. I was super happy and instantly took a screen shot of the item. The next-day (this morning before 11am), I went to the store and was told something differently. The Mgr was shady and pretended to be on my side. I pointed out the price and showed him a screen shot of my proof, I swear that he or his online support team/office did something by going back onto the site with my 7 minutes wait, and edited the item. Moments later, they spelt out that it's $75 each ($150 set)... He knew that I was correct! Even if they did make a mistake, say something. Apologize! However, he took the non-ownership route by telling me that he is in-store and can't do anything to compete with online prices. I went online and still made the purchase, but it is not sitting well with me. Even the Sales guy told me, "i work on commission and you going online is not gonna help me...." Do not tell me that. This place is the absolute worst! If I could give them negative stars I would! I ordered furniture from them on April 9 only to be told after 3 weeks from the date that I ordered that the bed is discontinued. I did change my order from a Queen size to a King size mid-order, but they happily accepted my credit card to bill me for the extra amount to change the bed size. Now today the day of delivery these morons have the nerve to tell me that the chest I ordered was damaged while in transit. Are you kidding me? On delivery day you decide to tell me that one of my items are damaged? I am trying to reach them for a full refund because I want nothing more to do with them. They are crooks and run a very shady business. Their business phones were down for like a solid month. What type of furniture store doesn't have fully functioning phones in 2018?? I purchased a bedroom set in September (2018) the delivery, the set up and everything was fine up until 2 day ago when I came home from work and found the mirror to the dresser completely cracked from top to bottom. The dresser had not been moved it has been sitting in the same spot for the 2 months since it was delivered, I have no children in the house and no pets. I went back to the Linden location where I purchased the furniture and I was told that it was probably due to a "stress fracture" that gave way in time and this is caused by the mirror not being set probably in the first place. I was also told that " another customer had just come in the store last week with the same problem." I have been calling customer service (the number that the store provided me with) for the past 2 days to no avail!!!! I am very disappointed with the "NON CUSTOMER SUPPORT" but I will NOT STOP CALLING UNTIL THIS ISSUE IS RESOLVED!!! read more

Don't go to this location! BUT My salesman BrIan Norton was fabulous!* Unfortunately the customer service and manager staff has a lot to be desired. On Sept.4th I purchased 2 pc living room set & 3 pc end tables $I732,00( #470334) After waiting a month I called. c/s girl stated the sofas were in but due to the bad weather down south the tables weren't in. I than called the store I was told by a higher up they were damaged and someone would call me back in a few minutes, to go over the order. Nobody called so I called them and once they answered the phone it was give me your name and number and once I get more info I will call you. After 3 days I went to the store on 11/6 TO CANCEL OFF THE TABLES. I INFORMED the young lady I would like to cn off the tables and refund the money back to the card, She than informed me the tables were in,& was I sure I didn't like to keep them. ***CRAPPIEST CUSTOMER SERVICE! TAKE YOUR MONEY SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!!**** Bought 2 couches and a chair from Ashley's a while back for $3500 and a warranty we were told "COVERS EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING". A year and a half later one of the couches and the chair started to peel. Called Ashley's and get a $1250 store credit compensation because they stopped making the couches. Fine, thanks, Ashley! Few weeks ago the other couch starts peeling, STILL IN WARRANTY!! Called Ashley to speak with Joe (rudest manager I've ever dealt with), tells me "$320 TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT" and tells me that he could've chosen to give me nothing and that "he's doing me a favor". Tells me that he's the manager and that any other person I speak to has to go through him and he won't give me more. Over the last 3 years, I have spent about $25,000 in Ashley's to furnish my house. Stay Away!! I recently moved and had purchased furniture and other things from the store like my bedroom set. The day came for delivery they only brought two pieces which was my 2 tables plus a box spring and mattress. They took the box spring out and said it didnt fit and automatically assumed the mattress that was a foldable tempurpedic mattress would not fit either. Its been a week and they are telling me I have to wait until the 11th of september to get the other order and then the 17th to get the furniture for my bedroom. This is so ridiculous!We have been sleeping on the floor when we could of had a matress at least to sleep on had these delivery handlers open the box. I dont know why its taking them so long to deliver every single thing we purchased at the same time instead of half a order 1 day and half a order the next plus they messed up on the order. If we didnt go there after the delivery handlers came over to ask why they didnt deliver we would have the wrong bedroom set. Also we waited for hours just to open a account! I ordered a headboard and platform bed om 3/20/17. The wrong item was deliverd on 3/28 due to store error. Furniture was re-oredered 3/30 and promised delivery on 4/7. On 4/5 i was told the furniture would not be delivered but would be at warehouse on 4/15. Called 4/15 and was told there were no updates from the warehouse. I received my furniture on 4/23, more than a month after ordering and paying in full.. Called & emailed Ashley Corporate but they seem to care even less about customer service. We have been longtime ashley customers. My wife has vowed never to use Ashley again and to tell everyone she knows to stay away. Shame on you Ashley for poor customer service. read more

My husband and I purchased a set of couches from here about two years ago. We purchased the extra insurance offered thinking we would get out moneys worth. When i wanted to submit a claim this week, i was told that this insurance doesn't "cover what sounds like a manufacturing defect". Seriously? The cushions on the couches starting basically deflating after a few months. We are barely home and take great care of our furniture. Save your money and don't get tricked into buying this useless insurance. read more

The worst experience dealing with these crooks. I ordered mattress and other furniture. The mattress was damaged by the driver and they were adamant to take it back because he was getting late for other deliveries. I went to the store for my refund they said they can give me other mattress in exchange and when i received new one it was different and totally floor model. I am stuggling in getting my refund. I am filing dispute and my credit company will help me in getting my refund. NEVER EVER GO TO LINDEN STORE. THEY ARE THIEF. The managers and staff are stupid. Stay away from them. read more

This is a zero star post. I have been shopping at Ashleys since 2005. Back in January, and July of 2015, I made two separate purchases w/ warranty (warranty total: $450, I was told that if the warranty is not used, it will be a store credit without any additional information). In February 2020, I made another purchase, and I was planning to use part of the warranty (January/2015 purchase) toward the cost, since I haven't submitted any claim. I was told that I need to submit the original receipt and within the four month period to claim the store credit, this was a shock to me, never heard this before. Then I realized this company is a fraud, you have all the information in your system. Or make the customer aware about holding on to the original receipt, but if you change the rule in between then it's not the customer's fault. Little over a month later (March 2020) the pandemic started, the stores were closed. In early June, I managed to located the original receipt, then called the customer service number (267)348-1071 to submit the claim for the store credit. Over a month later I hear back from a manager, and she tells me that the four month period has expired, and stores were open during the pandemic (not sure which planet she lives in). Even if I did find the receipt prior to the four month, the stores were closed in NJ/NY during the pandemic (it was confirmed by one of their customer service). In August, I went to the store, I was told that I will get the store credit, and made another purchase. I went there many times, called more than a dozen times, and over a month later I was told that they won't give me the store credit, so I had to cancel the order. I hope this post helps others. This company is a FRAUD. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. They stole from me $450 w/ this so called fraudulent charge (warranty). Bunch of thieves, liars, dishonest.
