One of the cleanest upkeep dog parks I've been to! We live in Colfax so we travel try o Grassvalley dog oasis as well as this one in Auburn. Never have had an issue with my American bully here unlike (I won't name) dog park in Grassvalley. People are friendly and clean up after their dogs mess the best they can. Of course we all get a little distracted petting others adorable dogs when there so someone it goes unnoticed when a dog drops something. Also the regulars will inform you of what dogs to watch out for that don't listen or that are very high energy and at times unmanageable. We appreciate that! read more

This dog park is gorgeous. Well maintained, clean, and friendly dogs / dog owners. Lots of water bowls with easy access to water. The pups even have a beautiful waterfall to play in! I really liked reading the memorials for dogs at rainbow bridge. TIP: if you have any extra plastic bags at home- bring them!... they have bag holders everywhere you can stuff them to recycle them for the dog park :) read more

Seriously the cleanest, well designed , super stocked dog park I've visited so far with my pup. There's a large grassy center along with a grassy side hill. Plenty of clean benches and tables for humans or sit on and a neat stamped cement path people to walk around if they don't want to step in the grassy area. My pup also enjoyed the "waterfall" made for the pups . Lots of water and poop bags . Friendly owners . Plenty of parking . They have a bathroom out by parking lot for people . Awesome dog park. Cute, fenced in off-leash dog park a few minutes outside of Old Town Auburn. Not the most scenic or quiet park in the area (it's right off 80 and the park is cute, though a little plain in comparison to parks nearby) but generally a wonderful space for dogs to run free. It's flat and open so if your dog is anything like ours and has bad recall, you'll be able to find them easily! read more

The only issue there was crap all over the place it was like I was jumping rock to rock but the thought of my two pups walking in that too grossed me out. I love the park when it is open. Fairly clean park and beautiful water fall the dogs to play in. My biggest issue is the website and rec department. We took the furbabies here as a change of pace from the usual parks we take them to. It's a little out of the way for us, but it didn't take us long to get here since it's conveniently located right off of the freeway. The park is immaculate compared to many dog parks in the Sacramento area, and owners really watch their pooches and pick up after that. Major plus. My dogs loved playing in the pool (also very clean), enjoyed the mini waterfall, and we met some really cool people. I would definitely take them here again. read more

This place is great the location is excellent and well maintained. It's the owners with big dogs that play aggressive you need to be cautious of. Most dogs here are well behaved but as with children with cruddy parents they'll be a bad seed or two. read more

Great dog park, but horrible experience. I brought my Golden Retriever here as a break on a road trip. He was having a great time playing with the other dogs when a lady brought her dog which proceeded to get in a fight with ours. She called my dog an SOB and hit him with her leash. She left and then came back and demanded that I leave too, She lives near by and comes every week. :( read more

Went on a Saturday morning and it wasn't super crowded. Very nice facilities with plenty of water bowls and hoses, plastic bags for poo and even a small waterfall for the pups to play in. Plenty of benches for us humans to sit and everyone was friendly ..... we have been twice and both times it was a great time for us and the pooch! I've been coming here since it opened and almost took it for granted until I visited a few other dog parks in California. This is by far the most well kept, relaxing dog park that I've been to. If you visit, please put a couple dollars into the donation box as this park relies on donations to be in operation. The entrance is double gated so that you have a safe area to leash and unleash your pets. There is a small dog area, but small dogs are welcome in the main area as well. There is a man-made water fall in the back for the dogs to jump around on and in the summer, kiddie pools are provided for the dogs. There are also plenty of benches and plastic chairs so owners can relax in the shady areas throughout the day. There is usually a number of tennis balls just sitting around for dogs to chase after. Always plenty of poo bags and several places around the park to dispose of them. Sometimes areas of the park will be fenced off with temporary plastic fencing so that troublesome areas can have a chance to regrow the grass. It is worth it though to have such a plush, grassy park for the dogs to run around in. Having this park in the area is truly a community asset to be appreciated. read more

We wanted to give our dogs a treat since they had been staying in a hotel room for an entire weekend. We happened to stumble across this place, and WOW! This is hands/paws-down the BEST dog park I've ever been to. The waterfall, the open space, all the available seating - all of it was AWESOME! I love that the signs made sure that the focus is on the dogs and giving them the right-of-way. All of the dogs and their owners were wonderful and friendly. I really want to drive back to Auburn just so my dogs can play at the dog park. (Side note: my deepest apologies to the super-cute little hound dog. My cattle dog has forgets her manners and I don't know why she needed to body-slam that pup.) read more

Best dog park EVER! The volunteers are always working to improve the park and keep it in the best shape. The dogs are always happy here. Mostly the people who bring their dogs are good people, but once in a while you encounter a dumb owner who doesn't know proper dog park etiquette. BUT the park is fantastic with a nice water feature. Plenty of seating. If you visit the dog park be sure to leave a small donation at the enterencei (in the red lock box) since the park is run exclusively by donations!! We have been brining our pups here for a few years now, and love it! They do a great job on maintaining the grounds and 99% of the dogs are awesome. I'm not always a fan if the people, but it's a dog park, not a people park . Our two labs love running around and lounging in the pools. We visit at least once a week! read more

This dog park in Auburn is one of my best parks to take Amaya! It is very large for your dog to run as much as he or her can run her heart out. The landscaping is so nice, complete with a large stone water fall. Plenty of places to site and watch your dog play. Grass throughout, and water bowels, pools available. This is all community funded, so much support it is just wonderful. Down marks: when it rains, it is pretty much unusable. Because it is so large, the seating, really does not make for human conversation terribly possible--and I love to talk... Over all 5 stars... I am a regular here! read more

This is a great dog park. There's a separate fenced area for smaller dogs. The entire dog park is grass, which is really nice on hot dry days. (I've been to a dog park near Santa Cruz which is dirt, and even there in the fog, the dust is almost unbearable when the dogs run back and forth!) There are shaded areas and benches for the humans. And a decent bathroom near the parking lot. The parking lot has plenty of parking, but I've been there when it's been completely full. Not only is there a dog park, but there's a large lawn, a playground, a creek, a duck pond, and an area that people can rent for parties through the Auburn Recreation District. Many people besides dog owners use this park. Because there is a playground outside of the dog park, a short skip away, you can bring your toddler/preschooler if there's an extra parent to watch him over there while you supervise your dog in the dog park. I have to warn pet owners to be obervant of who is using the dog park when you are there. One time there were many folks using the dog park, and in particular there was a family (mom, teenage son, and younger daughter) in the park with their dog. I heard a dog fight and one dog cry out, and then someone took their dog and left the park. I assumed it was the owner of the aggressive dog. A little while later, another dog fight. WTF?! And then someone stormed off with their dog. It was obvious they were pissed. A few minutes later, the family with a pit bull walked out, and I heard the son say that he thought their dog started fighting in there because she was in heat. I dunno, but to me that family seems to have swam too many times in the shallow end of the gene pool. It took how many dog fights for them to actually leave the park? And they had the nerve to bring their dog who was in HEAT to the park. Sheesh. It takes all kinds I guess. But my point is that you need to be aware of what's happening around you. This is not an isolated incident (idiocy, I mean). There are others who bring aggressive dogs to the Auburn State Rec Area and let them loose on the trails to attack horses. So beware and keep your eyes open when you're at Ashley Park with your best friend. read more

Best dog park around. Great fenced areas for large and small dogs. Well stocked with pick up bags. Benches, tables, shaded areas, drinking fountains, and even a neat man made waterfall have been donated and installed here. Well maintained grounds too! Statues and fire hydrants are also nice touches. This really is a well planned out dog park and gets lots and lots of usage. Every time I come here it's crowded with happy dogs and their owners. Just recently visited this park and was delighted with it. As everyone else has noted, it is clean and well maintained and, the day we came, it was full of friendly dog owners and dogs who romped together and enjoyed the lush grass and water features. As an artist, I also enjoyed the beautiful gates and metal sculpture as well as the bright red fire hydrants at theentrance. The extra tennis balls for everyone to enjoy was also a nice touch, though I had a hard time getting Shorty (my Doxie) to leave the one he had claimed when It was time to leave. A woman was visiting from Oregon that day and said it was much nicer than any she had visited there. Other visitors chimed in and agreed, noting the grass rather than dirt, the seperate area for large and small dogs, and the friendliness of the all-volunteer staff. Hooray for Auburn!!!
