The customer service at this location is horrible. Katherine Johnson is rude and she loves hanging up on you. The only person that you can talk to is Bill. Guest services are just as impossible to speak with. Calling headquarters is also a waste of time. When you speak to any manager besides Bill. It's like silence you explain the issues and they always say I call you back and you end up calling them back. You seriously deal with incompetence at this store. This was my first and last experience with this furniture company. Never again. It's just a constant headache and honestly its frustrating trying to get anywhere with them. A few months back, my wife and I went to an Ashley Home Store in Freehold NJ with our three kids to buy a new living room set and a mater bedroom set. We were ignored the entire time we were in the store, about an hour. Not one salesperson, not one associate approached us while we walked around, measured furniture and tested out beds. We ended up leaving and vowed never to return to an Ashley store. This week, my wife and I randomly drove by the Ashley Home Store in Eatontown. We decided to talk through and look at a few dinning room tables. We expected to walk in, get ignored, quickly walk through the store and leave. As soon as we stepped through the door, we stopped at the first table we saw and within a minute we were greeted by Karen. Before Karen even tried to sell us the table we were looking at, she asked us what we were looking for exactly, our style, what furniture we have in our home and how big of a piece we needed. She actually took the time to understand our style and taste instead of blindly walking us to each table that they carry. She showed us four different tables that were exactly what we would want. Karen never left our side, showed us how to operate the leaf of the tables we were looking at, helped us decide if we wanted a drop leaf or one we had to store, chairs v. benches, bar height v. formal dinning. The entire experience was just amazing. Once we decided on THE table, she did everything she could to make sure we remained in our budget. Karen did not try to push us into a more expensive set or talk us out of a cheaper set. She was just focused on which we both liked better and let us take as much time as we needed. There is nothing worse then a pushy salesperson, and Karen was the furthest thing from that. She actually took the time to listen to what we liked, kept us away from things we weren't crazy about and didn't focus on unrealistic price points. Karen doesn't know this yet, but I am about to give her a call to add a dresser that we saw on the way out of the store. She is the only person I will buy furniture from here forward. DON'T shop here. They'll sell you a warranty and tell you to contact them as soon as a problem arises. They'll promise for 2.5 months that someone will call to inspect the issue. But NO ONE will call you. Full of lies. And the great part is they claim they cannot give you a refund for their mess up. Never in my life have I seen such a scam of a company. Every single time I have called (2-3x a week), I've been told something different. Broken promises. The amount of stress this has caused me is unbelievable. Not Happy with the service or the time it takes to get the furniture. When part of it arrived there is a tear on the corner chair of this 5,000 dollar couch recliner. They give me a number to call for some one to come repair it. Can't get threw. Not happy at all very disappointed. Charge an arm and a leg and the furniture looks cheaply made. I feel like I should return it and go some where else. I ordered my kids bedroom set from another place and it's beautiful and strong. Was ordered last week and set up yesterday. I am writing to inform you of the horrible experience I have had with your Eatontown NJ store; but more specifically the delivery service that works with your Eatontown store. Last weekend, my husband and I purchased a king size bed, box spring, frame, and other small items from your Eatontown store. Our shopping experience was quite delightful, and Ruby, the women who completed our purchase, was very knowledgeable and very patient while showing us and explaining the differences between the various bed sets they were displaying. We decided on a set, and Ruby even suggested the financing deal that the company had going on at the time. We applied and were given a $7800 credit line. When it came time for delivery my husband and I asked how much, and Ruby said they she would include free shipping; but as the story goes, the saying "you get what you pay for," would ring a little too true for me. We set a date for Thursday, January 7th and she informed us that they would call to give us a 4-hour window for our delivery. On January 7th, I took the day off work to wait for the delivery. They had called an hour before my scheduled time and asked if it would be ok to deliver now. It was not an issue, because like I said I had taken the day off work. The men arrived and I showed them where they would be setting it up. One man put together the bedframe, while the other brought the boxsprings up. I was speaking to one of the men, and I asked if there was going to be an issue bringing the mattress up, and how they fit it through a standard size door. He looked at me and said they could manage, and went back out to the truck. When he came up he informed me that the mattress was not on the truck. Now this posed more than one problem for me; one I had already cleared out my old bedset that morning in preparation for the delivery, and two; I had to take off work to get this delivery and basically forfeited a days worth of pay to do so. He came back up with another man; I'm assuming a driver, and he said that dispatch would call me to arrange another delivery. He brought up a tablet with the order and it said 4 items, but I only technically received 3: the 2 boxsprings for my kind bed, and the frame. When I questioned him about this, he assured me that it was 4 and the frames counted as two. I let it go, but the truth is that 1st item listed said Ashley firm top bedset, and I'm almost positive that was my mattress that was never put on the truck. I let it go and signed off; what was the point of going back and forth, the conversation was going nowhere. Dispatch called me about 10 minutes later. The service member Corrine apologized and said I should have been notified that the mattress did not come in earlier and at that point could have rescheduled the delivery. She said that the earliest she could get it to me would be next Wednesday. That was completely unacceptable to me, and would be to most people, because again I had lost a whole day of work and already given away my only bedset. At that point, I explained what I mentioned above, and she said unfortunately that was the only time I could get it. I responded with have your delivery drivers come get the boxspring and frame and I will take my business elsewhere. She put me on hold for about 10-15 minutes and came back with "will Sunday work"? I said no, but today will work. After I was put on hold again, she came back on and asked if Saturday would work? Again, I said no. Finally she said we could have it to you tomorrow Friday January 8th. I accepted that, and gave her my mothers contact information because she would be the only one that could be here to receive it. Now, with all that said; how does your delivery service actually work? How can you have someone say, "Thursday is the earliest," and then, after a little effort have a truck deliver it the next day? To me that just spells LAZY. If I never made a big deal about this, your customer service rep would have done the easy thing and sent it on the next truck in my area. It almost makes me think I could have got it the same day; which would have been the right thing, if just a little more effort were put forth. The bottom line is that I will never purchase another thing from your store. I have bought all of my large furniture items from your store after I purchased my first home, and love your selection, but the truth is, Value City Furniture, or Bob's Discount Furniture will be will be getting my business from now on. I was offered no discount for my inconvenience, simply and apology, 20+ minute phone call with your delivery company, a missed day of work, and a night sleeping on a blow-up mattress. If you plan on keeping your customers, especially with other local furniture stores running similar deals, I suggest you do a little more to keep your customers happy. read more

Do not purchase a single piece of furniture here. There are plenty of furniture stores right down the road. We purchased an entire home worth of furniture from this location and one couch continually breaks. We have had to call twice in less than a year to get this item fixed. (Thank god for the warranty.) We called Ashley's again today because the repairman informed us the couch was not fixable. We were literally laughed at by the customer service rep. I can't believe this, and quite frankly I should have taken heed to the reviews that i read prior to shopping at Ashley Home Store. The story we all know is that multiple times they reneged on their approximate date they've gave me multiple times. I went and spend several thousands of dollars in september and was told approximately 8 weeks until my order gets delivered. I waited and waited and waited till the point i asked them to split my delivery and send me what they had of mines and i can wait for the rest. The did. So i'm still waiting for my dining room set and was told that it would be delivered on the 10th of this month, on the fifth i received a call and was told no; no its actually getting delivered on the 15th. Well today is the 15th so with a smirk i realized how pissed i was because it a sunday and like who delivers on sundays. so i called and you wouldn't believe it they not only told me that my table still wasn't in but that they don't deliver on sundays!!!!!!!! Like what the FU#K!!!!! Its November now and still nothing. I'll tell you what never again will i spended my hard earn cash in this store or any other ashley home store for that matter. Don't buy the protection plan and don't take the word of the salesperson!!! Should've know this by now, but I trusted the salesperson even after we specifically asked if the protection would cover pet orders. Naturally, we have an incident when we needed the service, call to have someone come, was informed that this was not covered and confirmed it wasn't when i looked at the agreement. We purchased a power recliner 4 years ago and because of the motor we decided to include the insurance. In August the chair stopped working so we submitted a claim for repair. The claim was denied because the sales personat Ashley sold us the wrong policy. Called the Ashley store for help and got no where. We're out $70 and we have a broken chair. Ashley furniture's customer service is non existent and whatever you do DON't ever buy the insurance, they have no intention of paying on any claims. read more

Ordered my Couch from here, the Whole thing was a mess! It was a 3 piece couch and they only delivered 2 pieces. They had interesting excuses over the phone the first was that the ware house was out of stock of the missing piece. I didn't believe this because it was not on the delivery invoice. So I at the time was of course sick with the flu I showed up to the store in person to confront the manger because at this point I'm getting the run around. They told me I didn't purchase the entire couch, gave me someone else's invoice with all their personal information on it (credit agreement, address,etc.). I had my original paper work from the purchase. Finally after I said I'll just send the whole thing back and get my money back, magically I received the missing piece a week later. HORRIBLE. We bought a sofa and chair. It is just my husband and I that use the furniture - in fact it was "his chair" so really only got used by him. He is of average build so it isn't a weight issue, but one night he sat down and the seat cracked right under him. Luckily he is a Mr. Fix-it so he was able to look at the frame - it was completely broken and looked like it originally had a huge piece out of it and they used it anyway. We had the contract and thought - "ok - we are covered" NOT. We tried to call several times - either no answer or put on hold and no one ever picked up. We finally went to Eatontown with the broken frame and they acted like it was our fault. We explained we had the chair for just over a year and had the warranty. Somehow they got out of having to do anything. My husband had bought new wood and fixed it and all they said is they would come out and fix it - no offer to replace as it should have been. I recently talked to an ex-employee that said the reason he quit was the poor quality of the furniture and the dissatisfaction of his clients who would not come back for their next purchase. Rudest people working there. Not one car in the parking lot, and when I went in one lady working barely lifted her head to greet me as she was sitting on the couch. Another lady came up to help me, when I asked her about a product that I saw online she was replied that she doesn't know about anything online. I asked they don't tell you about deals going on online, she said well we're separate I said "that's weird" she replied no it's not cause they're corporate and we're store owned, and then walked away. As I was leaving because she was useless, I over heard her talking about the conversation we had upstairs. Clearly I had no idea that they were separate, but apparently that was an inconvenience in her "busy day" at work. Placed a deposit on a couch and loveseat. We informed the salesman that we were receiving our key to our new place in two days and when we got in, we would confirm that the couches would fit and finish the order. The salesman said no problem and the delivery takes about 2 - 4 days once you confirm the order. Once we confirmed the order, we were told we would have to wait almost 3 weeks. When I complained, the manager Michelle said that she would look into the log and get back to me. Several days passed, I called again.. Ok so my husband and I went in November to purchase 2 couches. We where told that if u pay the delivery fee you will get your furniture. Well let me tell you about this store. They lie they don't want to help you at all. We finally paid off the furniture ok so they give us a number to contact the warehouse. Well that was a lie it was the store number. Everything we where told was nothing but lies. In May I finally had enough of the lies the run around the stupidity. We cancelled our order. My husband had to go back to a bank that we had issues with to open a account so they can give us the delivery fee back. They couldn't do that with a check. Emails where supposedly sent to corporate we didn't get the full refund until June 8th. The store is a rip off nothing but liers they are very unorganized. They have no clue had to run a business. While we where going through all of this there where more people going through issues. It was 8 months of lying and games. If I could tell u one thing. There are other retailers that are happy to help there coustmers. They will bend any rules to help you. Don't go through the same headache my husband and I did. NEVER NEVER NEVER BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. I ordered a couch, love seat and tables from Ashley. The love seat was ripped when it was delivered. The would not take it back and give me a new one. They said I had to wait and have it repaired. Two weeks later I was sitting looking at my end table and noticed a bubble in the wood. I contacted them immediately. When the repairman came to fix my brand new couch he was told to evaluate the table. He said the company is going to say it was water damage. Needless to say that is what happened. Went In looking for a new sectional found a good one ordering process was smooth until they told us 2-6 weeks for delivery which is understandable. Woman at the desk repeated back to me the correct pieces and color of the couch and I had our person that helped us (Jeff) make sure it was right. Then almost 7 weeks later we got our sectional delivered, but it wasn't the correct color. We ordered charcoal grey, the couch we received was quartz...so now after waiting longer than we were told we had to wait another week or so for them to get us the correct couch. It's been about a month since we got the correct couch we love it. Just make sure when buying that they're putting the order in correctly. Update. So the bedroom set was delivered in February I believe. As soon as the guys set everything up and left I checked it out. Every single handle on the dresser and end tables were loose, one actually broke off in my hand. So I called right away and filed a claim. It's now mid April and the issue is still not resolved. I've called guest services many times. The last time I spoke with them (before today) was a month ago and they said that they ordered the parts and will call to schedule someone to come and fix it. No one called, no one came. I also called the claims department because the couch I bought last year has broke, a piece of wood in the frame broke. I bought the protection plan because the salesman said it would cover everything, if anything ever happened to the couch they would repair or replace it. Well after speaking to the claims department they denied my claim saying I didn't have the coverage for the frame. This is the worst customer service I've ever received in my life. I will never buy anything from this store again. I don't care if they were giving things away, this company is a bad joke and unprofessional like I've never seen in my life. read more

This is the first time I have ever written a review of a retail store and one of very few online reviews I have ever written about anything. Approximately 2 months ago, I purchased a dining room table and chairs which are okay. They won't last forever but they hopefully will serve their purpose for the next 8 years or so. I addition, I purchased 5 swivel counter stools. They are very poorly made. One has already fallen apart and is in pieces in my garage. All the others are very wobbly and feel as though they too will fall apart soon. I began calling Ashley Customer Relations at the end of December. I tried to call and email approximately every other day. My emails have never been responded by a representative and I am put on hold for up to 15 minutes then disconnected. When I finally do get through to someone, I'm rushed off the phone before I'm able to ask all of my questions. I finally went back to the Eatontown store and said I'd like to return the stools as I'm dissatisfied with them and completely unhappy about the customer service I have received after my purchase. I was told I cannot make returns and they will try to fix the problem. Well they haven't. I am completely baffled how a large business like this can have this kind of service. Like the others, I felt like I was at the car dealership when the manager goes back and forth cutting the prices drastically. It is kind of shocking considering you are at the furniture store, and if you are not that much into bargaining and came unprepared, you are going to feel very uncomfortable afterwards, to say the least. I went in looking for a model that I had found online and liked but I wanted to sit on one to get comfort level. They did not have any in the store for me to try so Jeff asked if he could show me a few other choices. Sure enough after answering a couple of questions, he quickly led me to the perfect size, look and comfort level. (And they were even less expensive than the ones I was looking for) He does not lay on a heavy sales pitch. He reads his customer very well. Not pushy. Really laid back and knowledgeable.
