I would like to say I would never purchase from this store ever again. John was a phenomenal sales associate. When it comes to delivery dates, assistance and the store manger (David) unexcitable service. I changed my address for delivery and called on several occasions because of the emails I was receiving. Finally I was told my address was correct and the furniture would be delivered. Well that wasn't the case because they still delivered to the wrong location. Now the time line was extended. Instead of someone calling me to reschedule a delivery timeline. I had to call. Also both pieces were going to be delivered, which were not. I talk to the store manager and he states " the ottoman wasn't going to be available until 2-4 months and he wasn't a material maker". I let it slide. Then I asked if the floor model was available and it was. So he was only going to take $100 dollars off the floor model and it would be ready for pick up. I drive from San Diego to the store ready to pick up item and of course know one has idea what I am talking about and I can't receive the floor model. That now all of a sudden I'm getting a new one on the 15th of March. Store manager no where to found. All they could do is give me a $100 store credit. I will never recommend this Ashley store because of its improper procedures, customer service and disrespectful store manager. Have to put a recommendation but it would be negative 5 stars read more

I purchased a dining room set and cancelled the order before it was shipped, within their approved time frame. I was told that I would receive a check from their main office within 30 days. Two months later and numerous calls to the store, still no resolve. Receptionists and managers claim they will call back within the day, none of which has happened. I do not recommend shopping at this store because customer service does not appear to be a priority for them, and customer service should be at the top of that list. I called again today and spoke to the manager (again), and he assured me that my refund was processed 2 days ago...what??? When I asked him exactly what that meant he said that someone dropped the ball and my refund had not previously been processed (after numerous calls and even a trip into the store), but that he had proof that it was processed (which he sent to me via email). Now I can wait 7-21 additional days for my money to be returned to me. Worst customer service ever. read more

Can you leave zero stars? This place is awful. We have been struggling to get our money back for two chairs that showed up defective. They want to repair them - they are so poorly made I didn't want to get stuck with something so awful. Apparently if we had purchased online, from them or Walmart or Amazon, I could have returned no problem. But the store has a no return policy that was not communicated to us prior to placing our order with the salesman over the phone. WHAT?!!! How can a company stay in business with that model. Don't buy from these thieves - they are fraudulently stealing your money with the crap they drop off at your door. EDITED TO ONE STAR I, as you can read below, was ecstatic to find the desk for my elderly father for Christmas. Well, if you read the other reviews about the LIES regarding delivery --they are absolutely TRUE. I was to receive this desk today, confirmed date with JP, however this morning I realized I was never given a delivery window. I waited a few hours; I had some trust for some ignorant reason. Well, I gave them a call at 2:30 pm only to be told that it will not be delivered until JANUARY 28TH. I was put on hold for all of two seconds and then told it will now be delivered the 18th. I have about zero confidence this will happen after reading the numerous awful and correct reviews on this page. Ashley Furniture will quite literally RUIN my father's nicest gift I've ever given him. Awful customer service from Andre, I can hardly believe he is management. His immediate reaction was "Would you like to cancel?". No explanations whatsoever. Cancelled my order (beware of their NO RETURN policy too!). Don't be as naive as I was, go to Jerome's. Headed there tonight! We have been looking around for quite a while trying to find a nice desk for our father's home office as a Christmas present. We looked at other stores before Ashley and were pretty disappointed. We wanted a stately looking desk that had a true awe factor when seen on Christmas day! We were greeted by a sales associate by the name of JP and cannot speak highly enough of our experience with him. He steered us to the perfect desk, exactly as we had pictured in mind. Next thing you know, we are finishing the paperwork and saying goodbye. The short: The furniture protection plan is an ABSOLUTE SCAM. DO NOT BUY. Lookup GBS Enterprises on the Better Business Bureau to see. The long: I will not be shopping here again. We purchased a living room set with a media cabinet + a 5 year protection plan. The sales person told us how useful the protection plan was for cleanings and repairs for just about everything (rips, punctures etc.) As it turns out, the couch cushion material was not very good quality and is now in need of repair after a rip caused by a belt after 1yr, 6mo. I called up GBS, the furniture insurance company for the $240 insurance we purchased. They refused to cover, citing that the pictures we sent showed that the couch had a stain on the armrest, and therefore they claimed the rip in the couch was caused by an accumulation of wear overtime, not a single event. I called up Ashley Furniture customer service to plead my case, or look for any sort of help. I was told that they would give me a call on the next business day with someone who could help me with protection plans, but I never received that call. Overall : Mediocre quality furniture for the same price as other stores /w higher quality pieces. Scam protection plan and no help. read more

I have mixed feelings in writing this review. I bought a bedroom set two years ago and I had a great experience. I went back a month ago and bought another bedroom set and the delivery was scheduled for October 6. When they do the delivery they tell me the rails are missing. I go back to the store and they tell me by Monday October 8 I should have the rails delivered. They call me today to tell me the rails aren't coming until November 15. Now I've waited three weeks to have my order delivered, and it comes incomplete. How the heck does a furniture store this big doesn't have rails for a bedroom set. I went back to the store and called the warehouses and they both kept telling me different stories. Making three trips to the store and having to call the warehouses and neither one finding a solution. I had to cancel my order and even though I paid cash I will not receive my money back until 1. They pick up the furniture and 2. three to four weeks after they pick it up. If you ever go in to this place make sure everything comes in the same day. Because all of this is chaos and a bad experience. read more

**Update** It's been 7 business days and we still haven't received a refund. We purchased a couch on January 9th and had delivery scheduled for January 18th between 8am and 12. At 11, I attempted to call the store to pass on information about where our front door is located since it's hidden. It seemed like someone kept on hanging up on us. Then I called the corporate customer service number and told them what I was trying to do. Support said the couch was back ordered until the February 3rd and that we weren't scheduled for delivery today! We had been receiving text messages all week confirming the appointment and a text message the day of delivery saying, "Exciting reminder - your furniture is being delivered today". I asked to talk to a manager and cancel my order. The manager said I would need to talk to the store I purchased it from. We went directly to Ashley's to cancel the order and their power was out (reason why they weren't picking up the phone). Customer Service at the store said we could call back, give our debit card number, and have our order cancelled over the phone when their power was back up. No thanks. I'm not trusting you with my debit card number. We went back after work at 5 and their power was back up. They cancelled the order with no questions asked. When we told them what happened, we got a fake apology with no attempts to make it right. After reading all the reviews, it seems this is the way Ashley's Furniture conducts business. They sell you the furniture, tell you a delivery date you want to hear - even when it's back ordered, and then don't communicate with you at all. What a waste of time. At first my husband and I went in just to check out what the had however we ended walking out with a bedroom set. The salesperson had a lot patience while we walk up and down the floor. I bought a living room set and a dining room table and chairs. I was told that Ashley only delivers to Ramona Tuesdays and Saturdays and the delivery schedule was full until June 23rd.. I was called once before delivery to say that the coffee table wouldn't be available until July 1st.. ok, I guess, and all items were delivered EXCEPT the couch which was now back ordered. on July 1st I was called to set up a delivery of that couch for July 4th...a holiday and as I was only available until 1:00 PM they said that wasn't acceptable and they would deliver the couch on Tuesday, July 7th.. I was called on the 6th to inform me that the couch was now back ordered again and I would not receive it until after July 24th. Obviously, since I could not be available for more that six hours on the holiday they decided to deliver my couch to another customer since they no longer had the couch in the warehouse. What kind of bullshit is that? It really doesn't matter how I have been inconvenienced during this process but, based on my agreement with Ashley I emptied out my living room and dining room and made other decorative changes to enhance the home and the new furniture. I am having a family reunion on this Saturday through next Tuesday and there is no where for anyone to sit except for a love seat. I asked customer service to just schedule a date to come pick up the items that have already been delivered so I could take my business elsewhere. Christina told me that it was against company policy to accept returns once the items have been in my home. Really? I was never informed that it was even a possibility that the furniture (or a very central part of the order) might not be available for delivery for two months. I can honestly say I would not have made this purchase if that had been the case. I try very hard not to do business with unethical or uncooperative vendors. It is a point of honor with me to not support businesses who cannot or will not abide by their agreements. I am being told by Ashley representatives that I have no leverage, no options; basically, that I should just sit down and shut up. So screw me I guess. take the money and thumb your nose at your customers...go ahead and get a good laugh at your part of our agreement. I am waiting for a return call from Edgar, the store manager, but was already told by customer service what he would say..."sorry, nothing I can do since the warehouse does not have your sofa any longer". By the luck of the draw we had Colton as our sales person. I must say this young man made buying furniture easy. He was very helpful, knew the answers to our questions and wasn't like those high pressure sales people. We are going back this week to pick up a couple more things. I have referred some friends to this store, and they have had the same experience We Highly recommend Ashley Furniture, for the great products, and the price. My son and I went in there to look at a dining table set. The manager, Yama helped us tremendously and was easy to talk to. He made sure we found what we needed, saw if we needed anything else, recommended a few mattresses but reminded me repeatedly that there's no pressure to purchase anything. It was really nice not to feel pressured into buying things. I hate going to furniture stores because I feel like they all attack you like a shark as soon as you enter the store and they pressure you into purchasing things that you don't need. Our salesman was Eric. We came into the store at the beginning of February. We were furniture shopping for a dining set and a living room set. Ashley was the first furniture store we came to. We found a living room set and a dining set that we absolutely fell in love with. Later that day we went to Jerome's and Mor, where we found similar items, cheaper, but still didn't top Ashley, so we figured, okay, we loved Ashley, let's just stick with this store. We returned a few days later, I want to say February 5th, I applied for their finance option, and they denied me. What?! I've NEVER been denied, but whatever, so we walked away with nothing. I did my taxes, got enough money to pay cash for everything I wanted, so we returned on President's Day weekend, and made the purchase of what we liked. We got a dining table with six chairs, a sectional, love seat, chaise, ottoman. Eric offered us the free plasma LG TV offer they had going, depending on how much you spent, you would either get a 42", 46" or 50". We didn't qualify, because apparently some of the items, were Manager's Special and those didn't qualify towards the free TV. Whatever. Then he offered us free taxes, I said, great!, oh, but not on the Manager's Special items. Okay, fine. Eric told us the delivery date for everything would be March 5th, I offered for March 11th, since by then I'd be moved into my new apartment. Cool. March 8th, I get a call, they cannot deliver everything on Friday, the date will have to change because two items (the sectional) is has not arrived to their warehouse. I got the call from customer service. I was like, what? Serious!?! I have people coming over on Friday, I SOLD all my old stuff (from my old apt) because I was sure I was getting new stuff, you are kidding me! Where in the world are my people going to sit? Eat? I have been eating on the counter, for goodness sake! I rush to Ashley Home Store, and ask to speak with the manager. I explained everything. The customer service rep, Vanessa said they'd have to push my delivery date for Saturday, March 12th, ooh, no you aren't. They would be receiving the sectional on Friday, March 11th, but they didn't know what time and by then the delivery trucks would be on their way delivering items. I said, well, the truck might just have to make a pit stop back to the warehouse to pick up my sectional. I drive a two-door, my boyfriend drives a four-door, how in the world will we pick-up a sectional?! Sorry, no. So the solution they found: Our salesman's days off are Thursday and Friday. Friday, he'd go to the warehouse, pick up the sectional and personally deliver it to us that evening as long as my boyfriend helped him bring it down from the truck he was driving once he arrived at our home. UPDATE: 3/23/11 Fortunately, everything came in as scheduled. I got a $200 in-store credit that I had to follow through on, because not even our salesman would help us out on that. When the guys came to deliver my dining table and six barstool type chairs, they said to inspect the furniture and give Ashley Customer Service a call back within 48 hours to make a claim and have someone come out and check it out. I called on Saturday night (Customer service is open seven days a week from 10 AM-4 PM) to let them know that the dining table glass was defective and had specks on the glass which looked like white dots. When one puts a finger or whatever under the table and covers it, it "goes away", so obviously the shading or darkening of the glass was not done properly. So, I went to the store on Sunday and let them know, they brushed me off and said, okay, we'll write a claim, but for now, you can go browse around and see what you would like (to use my $200 in-store credit). I called CS again on Monday to see if anyone had heard my message or if anyone had decided on following up with me on the defective table, I left another VM. I left about two more voicemails that week and to this day, have gotten no calls back, its been twelve days that I have had my furniture. Ashley has the WORST customer service I have ever had to deal with. They really don't care about the customer, they just want to take your money and run with it and you'll get your furniture eventually. Good luck to anyone that is purchasing furniture..! read more

In June my wife and I purchased a table and chairs for our kitchen, a table and chairs for dining room, and a sofa/love seat for our living room. The salesman's name was Mike Murray. Mike offered us a fabric warranty for the sofa and love seat and we took it because we have a very young son who is now mobile. After a couple of months my wife noticed very fine scratches on the kitchen table so I called Ashley to express my concerns. They sent out a technician who said these probably came from a glass sliding across the table and since there was no wood warranty on the table there's nothing they could do. Wait... wood warranty? This wasn't offered to us. How can I purchase a warranty that wasn't offered to me? So I called the store and left a number of messages for the manager, but I never heard from him. Finally I called the store in an attempt to find out when he would be in the store so I could drive over and speak to him in person. It turns out he answered the phone so I explained my story. After explaining the situation he said this is a customer service issue and offered to write an email to CS telling them my situation. The next day I had a voice mail in the tone of, "I don't know why you're calling. There's nothing I can do for you.". So I called customer service and finally got up to the manager level. I explained that the salesman did not offer me this warranty and she kept saying, "you don't have a warranty so I can't help you.". I finally brought it down to a single question, "Are you saying to me that even though the salesman made the mistake, I have to pay the price?" and she said YES! He didn't offer me a wood warranty so I get screwed! This morning I called Ashley corporate HQ but this is only for the manufacturing side, it turns out the stores are all franchised. I ended up speaking to consumer relations and they gave me the same song and dance. "Sorry sir, the stores are independently owned, you need to take it up with them.". So my issues are two-fold. One, why on earth is this table so fragile that sliding a bowl or glass across it can scratch it? Second, why will no one take ownership of the issue? If I had simply declined the wood warranty I would not waste my time. I'd say.. darn I screwed up. But this simply was not offered to us and now we get to pay the price. Do NOT go to Ashley furniture. Go to Jerome's, I have been buying from them for years and will continue to do so. Ashley Furniture, in my opinion, is a scam and a rip-off from manufacturing to retail. read more

I wrote this same review elsewhere but here we go: Terrible experience. Delivery was the worst part. Salesman was pushy and trying to upsell but whatever he is a salesman after all That delivery though: Delivery #1- Delivery team fails to setup two of the items and claim they "cannot fit the couch through the front door". Incorrect coffee tables ordered and delivered. Extra lamps delivered. Delivery team throws the cardboard boxes on the street of the back alley behind my house. Store Visit #2- Salesman insists he did not write down the incorrect code for the coffee tables, despite the fact what was delivered is not on the sales floor, how did I pick out an item that isn't on the floor? New coffee tables will be ordered and delivered, pick up old tables, and extra lamps. Delivery #2-New coffee tables come via UPS. Delivery team won't set them up because it's not on their list. Won't pick up incorrect tables and extra lamps for the same reason. I setup coffee tables and the couch, ya know the one that "wouldn't fit through the front door". Turns out the couch fits through the door so long as you load it on it's side and not vertically. Regular rocket science right there. Delivery #3- This is to pick up the tables and lamps only. They missed their 4 hour window, called 15 minutes after they missed the window and said it'll happen in the next 2 hours. 3 hours later it get a call, it'll happen within the next 30 minutes, sorry I'm no longer home. Delivery #4- Again this is a pickup only. Given a two hour window, they show up 45 minutes early and I'm not home. Reschedule for 1 month from now. So, I'm stuck setting up half of what I bought despite paying for setup and delivery. Have to dispose of all the packaging for what I bought. And I'm stuck holding onto misordered items for about 2 months. Don't bother calling you'll just sit in hold for 30 minutes. read more

I wish I could give this company 0 stars. We bought a dining room set over six weeks ago, they delivered the wrong chairs. (Purchased online) then we wanted everything built when it was delivered and they told us we would have to purchase in store. So we return the online purchase and we buy the table 4 chairs and a bench in store. When they finally deliver the items, the color of the fabric was the wrong color. Customer service told me on the phone (after a two week review period) that the supervisor looked at my pictures and determined that I was wrong! I was steaming mad. Loaded up one of the chairs, drove back to the store picked up one of the display chairs and walked it over to customer service and said. " does this look the same to you. They admitted in store that they were wrong and I would be notified within 72 hours but I could take a week. A week goes by nobody calls, I call customer service back and they say that they did see the notes on my account and would forward my info to returns department and I would hear back within another week. After another review period. Now it's been a week since then and I still have heard nothing, not so much as even an apology!! Worst customer service I've ever had anywhere. As much as we liked the table at this point they have lost my business and I will be contacting an attorney. read more

Just spent an entire day trying to get the store to honor THEIR OWN policy as they are trying to take advantage of my 86 year old neighbor. He purchased a chair and when it was delivered it was not comfortable and not what he wanted. He has cancer and can't get around much anymore and just needs to be comfortable at home. They gave him the run around when he called a day later. I got on the case because no one is going to treat an 86 year old vet with cancer that poorly. I spoke to their manager Mike and went around and around with him about their return policy. I had to make him read it line by line. Then we had a great discussion on what the word "return" meant. He seemed to acquiesce and directed me to their "customer support" phone number. After multiple calls and way to long on hold I finally was told that that department was only for damaged or defective items and I would have to talk to the store manager about returning the chair. Called Mike again and he just flat out refused to help. What kind of people would treat someone this way? What kind of store won't honor their own policies? Stay away and shop somewhere else. I came in to the newer location, last time I reviewed it was still on the other side of the 78. Walked in, brunette gal sitting at the front asked me my name and what I was looking for...I was vague, then she asked if I had any specifics...I said A TON. I am looking for a peacock blue sofa with chaise, approx 90" wide. Her eyes got kind of wide...deer in the headlights. I said I was going to take a turn through the store and see what there was to see. She caught up with me in a little bit, said that they have nothing in that kind of color, just gray, beige and a navy blue kind of color. So their "customizable" is not all that customizable. Then she had an A-HA! moment and said she had a small sofa with chaise that might come in that turquoise blue color. So I follow her, to the sofa, which she tells me is 88" wide....which will work. But i busted out my tape measure and it's only 81", which I could already tell by sight that it was not over 7' long, much less getting close to 90". I called her attention to this but she didn't seem to care. And then showed me the picture, and then a picture of it in the blue color on the computer monitor. I said I need to see a fabric sample. She said the monitor is true to color....really? How bout if I go into the settings and adjust the color. Then is it true to color? You have no idea if it's true to color or not from a computer monitor. I told her I'd never buy a sofa without seeing the fabric in person....and that it would probably not be the color I am really looking for, and I'd want to return it. She said that's the great thing, you can return things. Ok....sounds like a huge hassle to me! Fun, order a sofa, then jump through the hoops trying to return it? Sounds amazing. She asked me if I'd ever heard of Living Spaces....I explained that's where my current, piece of shit sofa is from, that I am trying to replace, and their quality is awful. From the looks of it, so is Ashley's - but you get what you pay for with furniture. If it's cheap, it's cheap. But if you want to replace a sofa every 3 years, that's OK. She just didn't know her products, tried to slide a wrong size by me, and convince me of a color off a computer screen...not strong in the sales skills department. THEY CARE ABOUT VOLUME NOT CUSTOMER SATISFACTION! I went to this store wanting to buy a couch and a coffee/end table set. The first salesman who assisted me, Gunny, was very friendly and professional. He helped me find a couch I really liked, however the price was a bit outside of what I wanted to spend. After going home and thinking about it, I decided to come back and move forward on the purchase. Unfortunately the sales rep I was working with had left for the night, so another rep came to assist me. This is when things went south. The new rep, who knew I wanted both a couch set and coffee/end table set said he'd be able to hook me up on the coffee/end table since they couldn't lower the couch price anymore. I felt that was nice of him to offer. So after some looking around I finally found the set I wanted, but again the price was too high. He asked me if I would do the whole thing for $2300. I responded with "I'd prefer to do it for $220 cash". He said "let me go ask my manager". After a few minutes he comes back and says "manager says $2400".....which was $100 MORE than what the rep offered me, very poor negotiating tactic. I told the rep that the price I was just quoted was a bit insulting considering he previously JUST offered me a lower price. I asked to speak to the manager directly. The manager, I think his name was Vince, came and greeted me. He was very dry, not warm or friendly. I explained to him how I felt a bit misled and that I'm prepared to move forward on the purchase if he can honor what HIS OWN REP quoted me. He denied my request and basically said the rep should have known better...wow. It was clear at that point that maintaining volume is was more valuable to this company than earning a customers business by righting the wrongs of their own employee. So is the level of customer satisfaction we can expect at Ashley's furniture? I hope not. I hope it's an isolated incident and is simply something that only happens at this location. I know this though, because of that cheap trick I won't be doing ANY business at the San Marcos location. Good job Vince, you just lost $2300 over $100. If you get anything out of this, don't go to Ashleys!!! My boyfriend and I are in our early twenties and had little to no furniture in our new apartment. First we decided to stop by Ashley furniture in San Marcos on our way home from shopping. We explained to the lady this was the first store we had been to and we didn't really know what we wanted. Our plan was to just see what was out there and around how much we were looking at spending, not to buy furniture that night. She proceeded to follow us around the store. When I asked if we should switch out cushions on a couch she said "there are designers that get paid a lot of money to make everything look good and match, we can but nothing else is going to look this good." I was shocked, when you don't like something you don't like it, even if a high paid designer says that's what's in style. She then proceeded to scream over the balcony bragging to her coworker about how she had the top sales for the month (20k). If that wasn't enough she said ok looks like you guys are ready lets go fill out the paperwork, when we hadn't even chosen a couch. Needless to say we left there pretty discouraged. A few days later we headed over to Jerome's to see what we could find there. Immediately when we walk in Lisa greets us. She asks us if we would prefer her to walk around the store with us or wander on our own. We decided to go on our own, and every 15/20 minutes or so she would stop by and check on us. It was so nice not to have someone following us around the store. She told me she loves interior designing so if I needed any advice what so ever feel free to ask. We decided to return a few days later, she said no problem and she looked forward to seeing us and bring pictures of our apartment so we can plan the layout. It was so nice not to be pushed into a purchase; you could tell she was genuinely excited for us. When we returned to make the purchase she immediately recognized us and came over to say hi. As we were filling out paperwork she had to leave to help other customers and still managed to come back and check on us a few times. Spending thousands of dollars on furniture is scary, I'm so glad Lisa made it a fun and comfortable time for us. Jerome's is the place to go, in the future I won't go anywhere else. read more

Nice furniture but what a pain to deal with. We bought a complete bedroom set including king mattress and a full dining room table set with extra chairs. Had to wait a month to get. They deliver and put the bed together badly, scratched items and shorted us 4 dining room chairs. Called CS to find out what happened to the chairs. The manager put the wrong part number in and never ordered but did charge us. Store lied to us several times, told us they were in stock and we could pick up if we liked. Yes - we had already paid for delivery. Than told we could pick up the next week, than they could be delivered in 2 weeks and than told another month until they could be delivered. Took many phone calls over several days. Not once the the manager Frank bother to apologize or respond to our calls or messages. Will never shop at an Ashley again read more

Piss poor customer service. Junk for furniture. We received a couch set from them and the was a tear in the back upon delivery. The delivery personal said they will send a tech out to fix it. Still haven't seen a tec. I called to return the set but they refused to take a return. All they said they would do is send out a tec. Then they referred us to call customer service 800 number so I did. They told me they will exchange the couch for a new set. Instead of giving a refund. Oh and the back of the receipt there return policy doesn't state they do not take returns. They're return policy states they do except return except if customer misuse. Took me A while to write this review .I bought a super nice bed frame bed included which took them a few weeks to deliver to my house which I was super excited about but when delivery got here it was damaged prior to delivery I was disappointed because it took another week in order to get a new head board which was okay ! Deliver day came and no show!! I was super upset they would forget my delivery . I called the company which they had no idea of what I was talking about so I had to wait until they figured out what was going on then after that it took another week which added up to almost 1 month very unprofessional company wouldn't recommend to no one. I was with out a bed for over two weeks because I decided to throw mine away because I was so convinced that this company would deliver my bed with out Any problems and it wasn't a small damage it was a big one which caused my bed frame not be set up .. hope this helps sincerely r.. read more

This place is ok at best. We purchased our living room set here and had to wait two weeks. Then our rug was on back order with no prior notification. I've been trying to get ahold of Priscilla but have had no response. Apparently customer service is a foreign language. But other than that the experience was pretty good. Absolutely wonderful experience! My husband and I initially went in last night to buy a new sectional for our apartment. Christian helped us out, and was so nice and attentive. There was a couch I absolutely fell in love with that they didn't have in stock, and he ordered it for us. If you're military, make sure you mention it to them when you come in and they will take great care of you. They were able to price match the couch, which saved us a ton of money. read more

Five years ago we purchased a leather couch from this San Marcos, store including the leather protection plan. My wife tried to convince me not to pay for the protection plan but I thought it was a good idea. So here we are almost five years to the date with a couch where the leather seems to be bubbling up and has begun to peel open. We clean and condition the leather with the kit we got from Ashley so we were surprised to see this happen. No big deal though right, I bought the Leather Protection Plan! WRONG...after a good 25 minutes on the phone with the San Marcos store they finally find a record of our purchase and they confirm we have the protection plan; but I'm then told to call their customer service line to discuss the issue. The woman I spoke to was very nice and after a few questions she scheduled a date and time for a technician to come take a look. We were called two days before the appointment and given a three hour window for when the technician would arrive, which for us was between 12 and 3. I missed his first call but the technician leaves me a message indicating he was running a little late but should be at our home within the hour. He did say we could reschedule but we wanted this to be addressed as soon as possible so we waited. About an hour and 10 minutes later the technician arrived and as my wife and mother explain it, he walked in the door (did not apologize for his late arrival) saw one of the damaged areas and immediately said, "Oh we can't do anything about that. That's a manufacture defect and those are only covered within the first year of your purchase." Now if you don't already know, Ashley furniture advertises their pride in that they themselves "carefully design and build each piece of furniture...paying close attention to detail" which helps them to pass on the savings to us. What I believe this really means is that they design and build there furniture with the cheapest quality material possible so that they can charge less because conditioned leather is not supposed to bubble and peel like it did on our couch. But back to the technician...he says he can take some pictures and pass this onto customer service and that someone from that office would contact us within three days to discuss the issue further. He was right, I got a call from a customer service person (Katie P.) and she stood by the technician's comments and that there would be nothing Ashley could do for us. She explained that the Leather Protection Plan only covered stains, accidental punctures, cuts, rips, burns and cracking and peeling resulting from a specific accident or incident. She was kind enough to send me a copy of the plan that uses this exact language but I guess the incident of a manufacturer defect (again Ashley is the manufacturer) is not covered in this extended 5 year warranty. The plan does state, "Defects in the material or workmanship" are not covered by the protection plan; but how does this support Ashley's claim to careful attention to detail with the design and build of their furniture? That clause should be the sign that Ashley doesn't really have confidence in their carefully designed and built products. Or maybe we purchased the "one" couch that they didn't care about and the manufacturer defect is our problem not theirs. Aside from the unprofessional late arrival by the technician no one was ever rude to me, but this experience definitely proves that customer service is much more than a pleasant voice over the phone. Customer service needs to be backed by policy that includes a company taking ownership of their shortcomings! Especially when the problem isn't due to some distant and unknown factory but instead stems from the design and build by the company itself! Needless to say we won't return to Ashley Furniture HomeStores and instead may result to buying furniture from non-specialty furniture stores like Costco who know how to treat their customers! read more

Purchased a bedroom set a couple years ago and was satisfied with it. We recently broke a slat and went back to buy a replacement. First it didn't come with legs or precut holes for the legs and customer service told us "oh well that's how it comes so you'll have to figure it out yourself". Very rude and kind of bullshit answer. Finally tried to put the new slats on and they were too short and didn't fit our bed. So went back a third time to return them and just make our own. Priscilla at customer service told me that it's not their policy to give refunds. Even after I explained to her and another girl a couple of times that they don't fit so I shouldn't have to keep and pay for them. I asked to speak with the store manager and after 10 minutes of her trying to call him and find him she gave in and gave me my refund. I never got to speak with the manager and don't know if she did either but was glad I got my money back. She also had asked a sales rep to meet me by the side delivery door so he could help us take the slats out of my truck and put inside. We pulled up and waited a bit then just took them out ourselves and put them by the door and again waited but he didn't show so we just left with them laying on the floor. Overall ok furniture but crap customer service and return policy, won't be a return customer. read more

I'd stay away from here if I were you. I purchased some furniture on 8/30/14 and it was supposed to be ready for pickup at the warehouse on 9/9. I come to find out that the warehouse is locked and they've reorganized under new management. I called 5 times and each time they said they'd get right back to me. We really needed a new bed for my 11-year-old daughter. We decided to try a real furniture store versus buying online on IKEA, so we decide to try Ashley Home Store and as soon as we enter the store we were received by a sales guy that did not seem very eager to sell. He was pushy, did not give us many details on what makes one bed more expensive than the other(he did say the material was better) but okay, how is it better? not trying to sell the piece basically putting us under pressure. My daughter really wanted the bed with a nightstand so we went for it and the whole process of purchase was so underwhelming!! I honestly think the lack of customer service; looking back I wish I would have kept going since San Marcos Store is amongst so many other furniture stores in that same area. Once the delivery and set up was done we inspected the bed and nightstand and immediately noticed that the set up was mediocre, I could have been more detail-oriented and methodical. The drawer on the bottom came in damaged from the manufacturer- this I know because the gentlemen that set it up, as they were bringing it in I noticed the drawers already there. We purchased the protection as if I had a feeling about it! We have attempted to reach someone to help us with the damage claim around 6 calls later and finally saying"the heck with it, we are going in and bringing the drawer with us" we were given the whole well, "there are procedures and someone will be contacting you about it" VERY DISSAPOINTING! I will never purchase anything from Ashleys again. read more

WARNING - Do NOT buy from this company! HORRIBLE customer service! I have received defective products and they will not respond or assist in getting the items returned so I can be refunded. I have messaged them and requested a return phone call from their website multiple times. I have called customer service 6 times since receiving the defective product in April and have not been able to get through - their recording says leave name number etc and the call will be returned in 24 to 48 business hours. 6 calls since April 27, 2020 and no return call. I called the store and they are unable/unwilling to assist. Horrible experience. Just want to warn others before they purchase anything from this company. read more

If I could give 0 star I would definitely! I went to store and bought a tempurpedic mattress the sales rep. Told me and my husband that they'll give us 90 days trial for the bed and we can exchange it and also the manager named mike agreed that yeah he can do that. Yes we bought the mattress and it arrived at our place the mattress was completely hard than the one in store so I called them ASAP and the sales rep named Robert he said he can't do anything about it till the 90 days is up. 90 days was up and I went to the store and we chose the mattress we would like to exchange and it's more expensive than the one we got. They said they never said 90 days trial to us and they're denying it!!! I hate this store they are liars!! Bad customer service like seriously why would you lie to customers?! Now we are stuck with a mattress that's cost $2,500 and we are not comfortable with! They should've told us in the begging that no exchange to returns but they lied! Too bad I cannot but ZERO stars! Do not buy a warranty plan because they reject everything. I had a stain on my couch and when requesting it to be cleaned they said they did not have my account that I purchased a plan. After calling Ashley and getting the receipt they asked me to mail it to them with a picture of my couch stain. After doing so and waiting a MONTH! They called and told me that it was denied and they will not come out to clean it. After calling Ashley I spoke with a Manager Edgar that never called me back and after calling everyday they told me he doesn't work there anymore. I asked to speak with another manager and they said Mark would be the one. I have now been on hold for 35 minutes waiting to talk to him!!!! read more

Like the other reviewers, I'd like to give no stars, as well, and I'm usually not a complainer or one who logs on to review sites but I would like to give future furniture buyers a nudge away from Ashley Furniture in San Marcos, CA. I would have had more fun waiting in line for bread in a Communist state then what I've been through with Ashley Furniture in the past three weeks. I wish I had read these reviews before I went there. Basically, I had the same experience...It was an extremely hard sell but because I really liked the furniture and the price, I muddled through the salesperson's idiocy. First, he seemed to keep wandering away and was much more interested in talking with and high-fiving his co-workers. Second, he put my phone number and delivery address incorrectly in the system. He gave me the wrong delivery date; I only found this out because I had to call customer service and correct the information myself. The customer service agent informed me that my delivery date was, in fact, July 23rd and not July 22nd, as I had been originally told. Nervous about not having the furniture yet, I called customer service again and was told, "Well, we tried to call you." She then read a phone number off that was nowhere near to my correct phone number. I corrected (again) my phone number and was told, "Okay, here's the address we're delivering your furniture to." AGAIN, wrong address. I had to correct my address again. I was also told that the delivery people don't give you a courtesy phone call, if I want a courtesy call, I have to call customer service and request one myself. I think, perhaps, this defeats the purpose. Shall I call every 15 minutes and see if the delivery people are close by yet? Okay, I get that I have been burned. This was the universe telling me to walk away at every mis-step that Ashley has shown. In order for me to learn from this, I am happily suggesting that if you want furniture, go somewhere else. Go to IKEA, make your own furniture, live an ascetic lifestyle and go without. Do anything but go to Ashley unless you have lots of patience, don't mind speaking slowly to the salespeople or that you don't need the furniture for a really long time. (They also don't give you a delivery date until you buy the furniture.) NEVER, EVER, EVER, AGAIN! I'd rather live in my car with my money then spend another dime at Ashley. I've definitely learned my lesson! read more

I had a great experience shopping for furniture for several rooms in my new home. Barry was so helpful and kind. I went in on Sunday and most of my items are already in my home! The delivery was quick and easy. Buying furniture can be such an exhausting task. I expected to go to several furniture stores that day, but Ashley had everything I needed! And the packages they offer are fantastic! For a hundred bucks more on my dining room table, I got new dishes, placemats, and an area rug. My wife and I bought a bedroom "set" from these jokers back in April. Here we are in JUNE, and they called yesterday yet AGAIN to delay delivery of our bed. Now they claim it will be delivered in JULY. We'll see about that. (yeah right) My wife called to complain to their corporate headquarters and the "customer service" was about the worst I've ever seen; their attitude was terrible at best: "we're sorry but we make no promises and all sales are final". They wouldn't even throw us a bone to try to make a mends. No only will I NEVER shop there again, but I will tell all my friends and family to NEVER shop there unless they want to be treated poorly and have their furniture delayed again, and again, and yet AGAIN.
