I was delivered a defective mattress. It took 5 delivery attempts in order to get a non-defective mattress. The delivery people treat you like garbage and show up hours outside of their time window. All of this is a-okay with Mattress Firm. You will request different delivery people, but you will get the same ones over and over again. They will also drag your mattress unwrapped directly across the floor. My sales person was nothing to write home about. She complained the entire time about how she was tired, how it was past closing time when we were filling out the paperwork and kept making mistakes. I almost got up and left. I should have. I purchased a mattress at the Oceanside location previously and never had an issue. The regional manager gave me a credit that I literally had to argue for. It did not make up for my time that was wasted or the disrespect from the delivery people. read more

The Mattress Firm warranty is a joke. My advice, based on my personal experience, is to understand that there is no functional warranty supporting the customer, you are effectively buying "as-is". So tired of this kind of BS! I would guess that 99% of Mattress Firm consumer warranty requests are denied, after the buyer is forced to jump through multiple hoops of a surprisingly long list of specifications you must have met to comply to their warranty requirements. Wrong box spring! Warranty void! Except, of course, it's the box spring that you bought from them. There's a byzantine list of multiple factors they select from to deny you. What are you going to do, take them to court over a mattress? Great way to spend your time. You get the picture. Never going back to Mattress Firm. Very helpful and low pressure! We went to the Encinitas East store first but they recommended a few options they didn't have there, so they checked with the West store (across the street) and they had others for us to try. We met with Bo who was very low pressure. We weren't sure the size we wanted and had to come back. He didn't try to push us to 'buy now' or try to upsell us. Very refreshing. I called later with a few additional questions and he was very helpful. We ended up buying a Stearns & Foster. Bo gave us a $300 credit which was used for mattress & box spring protectors and the delivery fee. Tony and Jesus delivered everything the next day and even put the protectors on for us. My Husband and I were "just looking" at mattresses one weekend trying to decide if we really wanted to a new 'Mattress - perhaps even an adjustable one. After spending quite a bit of time with Luke - he spent a lot of time with us looking at all the different models and options - we did end up with a new adjustable mattress that we are very happy with. We unfortunately, had to exchange my MIL's mattress out because the pillow top mattress that she SWORE she wanted, ended up being too soft for her. (sigh) They have a 90 day guarantee so we went in to see what her options were, sans MIL. My husband and I both agreed the firmer, the better--and without a pillow top. We were directed to the firmer beds within the same brand we originally purchased and selected one from the line up. Unfortunately, it had a higher price tag ($500 more) so all the savings we made in our originally purchase was LOST but we are happy to report that my MIL really likes her new bed and she hasn't been complaining....as much, anyway. The 90 day guarantee really helped in our situation. My MIL is older and has a hard time getting out of the house to try the beds, so it worked out for us. The swap out was quick and painless. My only recommendation for Sleep Train is to provide their delivery crew with booties so when they enter into customers homes, they don't bring in the elements. They do put a floor mat down but if they're going to go that extra step, why not wear booties? Still, Sleep Train really was a great choice for us and we were overall, VERY pleased with the hassle-free service. NOTE: the guarantee is only good for a 1 time swap so you can't try mattress after mattress until you find the one you want. Our mattress is 10 years old and my husband is over it. To keep my hubby from permanently sleeping on our comfy couch and my marriage alive I had to break down and buy a new mattress. I've been so confused by this name during my ten years in San Diego but I decided to go there for a new mattress and box spring. The verdict: This is absolutely the place to go when you need a new mattress. The staff is trained to help you find a mattress that is comfy for you. They ask you a variety of questions so you only need to lay on about six mattresses rather than 25. Also, they can explain the range of beds from firm to super pillow top. We bought a mattress for our 4 year old's big boy bed at Sleep Train in Encinitas. They had something at every price point, and the salesperson struck us as helpful and honest. Mattress salespeople, like car salesmen, often get a bad rap, so this is high praise. When my wife was paying at the register - we had already decided to purchase - the salesperson noted that someone else had previously price-matched our mattress so they were able to take off another $50. That came right out of the store's pocket so it demonstrated some impressive customer commitment. The mattress we chose was on clearance, which also helped lower the price. We think we got a good deal on the mattress, but there is so little transparency in this business that we don't really know. I walked in yesterday to find a new mattress for a bed frame that was enroute. The place was super clean and organized. Manny greeted me and was super efficient, interactive, and showed me all the types of levels of beds I needed. He helped me budget and did not pressure me at all to buy expensive beds that I couldn't afford. I wish a lot of sales person was attentive and aimed to help customers like Manuel! I'd preferred medium to firm mattresses and to my discovery he said I needed a level for my side-sleeping to support my neck, back, and hips. For a long time I have horrible shoulder blade, neck and back aches but when I layed on their Sleepy brand memory foam mattress (he helped picked it because it was similar to the brand Nectar) and my goodness it felt amazing! He was so helpful and made it easy. He showed me the steps on paper. He even moved my pillow around for me, he is funny and very pleasant! He reviewed and assured me of the delivery process ans expected phone call. The delivery came right on time in the two hour window, it actually beat arrived first before my bedframe! They deliver it to the door, it makes me feel happy that they understand product from sales floor to in the bedroom is so important to the customers. You guys are doing great! All I had to do was let the memory foam mattress air up for a couple hours but suggested 48 hours. I am not kidding but am laying on it right now and I am so excited for it to be almost finished! Crossing my fingers that bad back from working hospitality and sleeping on too firm of a mattress will ease because of Manny and all the steps he guided me through the store with ease and helped me get a student discount on the box too! You've heard the radio ads and even though they make the process sound painless, that's marketing right? Well I'm happy to report that Sleep Train's reputation is the real deal. I write this review as I jump on my newly purchased mattresses. Which is harder to do than it sounds ;) Ken the manager happened to be our salesman, and he was a peach I tell ya. First off, the BF hates shopping in general and REALLY hates shopping for big ticket items. Can you image trying to sell to a 6"10" 300 lb deadpan shopper who isn't easily amused?? Yeah, daunting... and he was hangry (that's when you're hungry and it makes you angry) Whew! Ken did a fabulous job, he was likeable and not obnoxious-we did a processes where we found an "anchor bed" that we really liked and compared it to all other similar models. We decided on one and Ken let us know that if we didn't mind, he could search for a clearance option. Same exact mattress but maybe was returned. He explained that if people don't like the one they get they can exchange it within 90 days. Those sold mattresses that come back go through a crazy sanitation process and are good as new. So yeah, please do! We ended up saving about 400$! The delivery process was painless, as is now my lower back. They removed our old bed and delivered our new one on time and super quick-on a Sunday during a holiday weekend even! Awesome. My guess would be that most people enjoy shopping for a new mattress about as much as they enjoy going to the dentist or looking for a used car. This was my first time purchasing a new bed, and it was a much more painless experience than either of these. I'm the sort of person who thinks I can always outsmart the system, so I did scads of research and figured I would go into a few mattress stores to test the beds but end up purchasing online. This Sleep Train (which I had thought of as the Walmart of mattress stores) was the first store I stopped in, and am I sure glad it was. I worked with the manager, Brittany, who listened when I said I was uninterested in Tempurpedic, wanted something firm and cool. She did not urge me towards high-priced beds or make any assumptions about me, was patient and even chatted with me at length about my recent move and new job. When I came back a week later with my partner she treated us both with respect, gave us space and time and continued to steer us towards appropriate beds based on both our needs. Much to my surprise, I believed her when she said Sleep Train cared about our sleep wellness for as long as we were their customer (and with a 20-year warranty, we are going to be members of the Sleep Train family for a long time). When we finally chose the bed we liked best, I was prepared to get on my iPhone and start price hunting, but no need. Brittany used the store computer to find us the lowest available price (on a site we asked her to check) and not only honored their 10% off coupon, but beat it by 5% as per Sleep Train's price guarantee. She also threw in a free mattress protector and 40% off sheets - and even drove to the next closest store (while we waited) to pick up the exact color and style we wanted. Michael and the rest of the staff were incredibly helpful as well - we left satisfied and felt that the entire transaction was transparent without a hint of salesmanship or deceit. I've had an awesome experience shopping at Sleep Train. While all of the employees seem helpful, I worked with Martin and he is very down to earth and worked with me to find exactly what mattress would fit me best. I spent at least two hours trying different beds and being generally indecisive about such a major purchase, and he was patient and super helpful. I came there with a friend (I thought I would be in and out of the store pretty quickly... whoops) and Martin fit in with us as we goofed around and put no pressure to speed us up. I should also mention Michael was very helpful too, he has a tempurpedic at home and I had many questions about them regarding the negatives I've read online. Tempurpedics are price-locked, but they bent over backwards to ensure that I could have my bed delivered in my tight timeframe. I wanted to buy the floor model but the new models were out of stock and I'd have to wait for a new one to arrive and replace the one I was buying. That should have taken a week plus. The problem was a friend was visiting in a few days and all I had in my room was a hammock to sleep on. They arranged special deliveries so that it could arrive just in time (that took multiple phone calls and manager approvals). A day or two later, now I decided I'd rather get the new bed (and the 100 day comfort guarantee) and it was no issue switching that over and getting the new one delivered that evening. It's a couple weeks later and now I'm loving my bed (Tempurpedic Contour Select). My final positive experience came today when I decided I didn't like the mattress protector I bought with the bed. Who takes back used mattress protectors? They did, and I exchanged it for another nice pillow although I could have gotten a refund for it if that's what I wanted. Ken was the sales person who helped us find our bed. What I liked was that he wasn't interested in selling us the most expensive bed but the one that worked best for us. Which for us was the middle price range Beautyrest mattress. Same thing for the base. He showed us all price ranges but did not pressure us into a the most expensive line. Gave us all the info about them and we picked the one right for us. It is being delivered tomorrow and I can't wait to get it set up and have a great nights sleep. This is your one-stop shop for mattresses if you're in the market. We made the mistake of going to another store down the street and the other place was dirty. We thought we were getting good service there until we decided to check out sleep train. We were shocked by how much better the service was. Nathan helped us out and was awesome! He was very knowledgable and was honest. He really helped us to narrow it down to the mattress and pillows that were just right for us. One of the best parts was how quickly they were able to deliver! The other store said after purchase it'll take 4 days or so before it can be delivered. That just didn't work for our schedule as we were getting rid of our current mattress and wouldn't have anywhere to sleep! We needed our new replacement ASAP and sleep train made it happen. They can even do same-day delivery! We could've done that if we had gone in earlier in that day but we were still able to have our mattress delivered the next day. So in the store one day and sleeping on what we bought the next. That's how it should be. Great service, clean store, and quick delivery! I would give this place ZERO stars if I could. I was shopping for an inexpensive twin mattress on 8/8/14 at 4PM and went to Sleep Train as I am a longtime customer. I was shopping for my grandmother who is "trying out" assisted living and is highly likely to return to her home (and much larger bed). As a result, it didn't feel prudent to use her funds to buy an expensive mattress. When I asked if they had anything less expensive than the +$700 twin sets, the awful sales guy insulted me and accused me of being cheap on grandma. If it was legal, I would have slapped him. Rude sales guy then suggested I go across the street to Mattress Discounters where crappy mattresses in my price range were sold. I went to Mattress Discounters and was treated with respect as a valued customer and purchased a $400 set that is perfect for our needs.
