The Mattress Firm warranty is a joke. My advice, based on my personal experience, is to understand that there is no functional warranty supporting the customer, you are effectively buying "as-is". So tired of this kind of BS! I would guess that 99% of Mattress Firm consumer warranty requests are denied, after the buyer is forced to jump through multiple hoops of a surprisingly long list of specifications you must have met to comply to their warranty requirements. Wrong box spring! Warranty void! Except, of course, it's the box spring that you bought from them. There's a byzantine list of multiple factors they select from to deny you. What are you going to do, take them to court over a mattress? Great way to spend your time. You get the picture. Never going back to Mattress Firm. I went in to Mattress firm yesterday to see if there were any good deals for President's day. Anyways I got there and the younger lady working there was very informative and not pushy at all. She had good insight and new her mattresses. They have a good selection of mattresses. Funny enough there is a mattress firm across the street. They bought out another store and keep it open because the foot traffic from that strip mall must make up for the rent expense. Anyways that being said makes you wonder how there are so many mattress stores everywhere because when you walk into a store there are never a lot of people in the stores so the margins must be pretty good. Wonder how many mattresses a day covers the rent expense. Anyways I've done some reading and apparently mattress stores have some of the biggest profit margins in retail around 40-50%. A $3000.00 mattress only costs $300 to manufacture so I guess that's the answer. A 900% markup. Regardless that's the business and unless you are good at negotiating or find a place that has fixed prices you need to play ball. So many people cheap out on their mattresses, sheets and pillows. I've never understood why besides money of course but lots of people can afford a good mattress and sheets. You spend over 1/3 of your life in your bed and it's really important to have a good mattress. Also sheets are key to help you sleep even better. So if you have an old crappy mattress and sheets go buy a new one and you will thank me in 30 years when your back and neck is still in good shape. read more

We were moving and needed a mattress for the new place. We stopped by a local mattress firm in Tucson (where we were moving to) and the sales manager was very aggressive to make us buy a mattress that day. So we left and didn't think we were going to use mattress firm again. We decided to give the one closest to our old home another chance. They have great pricing options and the Memorial Day sale was awesome. We got a king for a queen price and a bed frame for 500 dollars less than just a mattress at the "other store" The customer service was fantastic. Jonathan helped us and he did a great job. He knew exactly when to step in and give us more information and when to back off a little and allow us to talk between ourselves. The financing process was made very easy as well. Not only did they store it for us but they also set it up to be delivered to our new apartment in Tucson for us. Talk about a complete turn around! But not done yet, we had a hiccup in the delivery process. They had some issues getting into the gate/ getting ahold of us so the delivery time was missed and then wasn't able to be scheduled again for a few more days. Again, Jonathan stepped up and helped us out to resolve this issue. He was about to slide our delivery earlier than we were told by the Tucson warehouse. We knew this wasn't Jonathan's fault yet he still went above and beyond to solve the issue. If you are in the market ask for Jonathan to help you out. So incredibly frustrated with Jay (manager) and this store. We ordered 2 mattresses for our daughters over July 4th weekend to have one delivered today and another on 8/18. No call from anyone to confirm at any time. We had to call numerous times to check on delivery and Jay told us to call back later. He didn't have a time slot yet. How is that customer service? SO, we call him again today (while waiting for delivery) and now they don't have the mattress and won't have it until the 18th, apparently. This was after he was bragging about how they had the best inventory in the country. Apparently not! Now, we have to start all over. Oh and they take your money right away, but it takes 7-10 days for a refund?!? Just stay away from this store. They sure love you when they are selling you a mattress, but as soon as they get their money, good luck getting what you want on time... or a refund in a reasonable time if you're unhappy. read more

My fiancée and I purchased a Beauty Rest mattress from this location. We were helped by Claire and David. I'm leaving a 5 star review because despite a slip up with the delivery, Claire and David delivered true 5 star service and they deserve some acknowledgement. Both of them helped us through the mattress selection process and were very low-pressure through the up-sale process, allowing us to get a full setup (luxury mattress, pillows, box springs, mattress protector, etc.) for the best deal available. We compared what we got with other retailers and it truly was a good deal. There was an error with the delivery (they forgot to bring the bed frame), and instead of making us jump through hoops and postponing the delivery, they just gave us a brand new mattress on the same day. It was pretty incredible. We will certainly be using this sleep train location for any future purchases. The selection of available mattresses, pricing, and sales process were as you would expect from a corporate retailer. Ordinarily, with a delivery slip up like this, I'd leave a 3 star review, but the service delivered by Claire and David, and their effort in rectifying the situation, demands a 5 star review. I bought my mattress at Encinitas Sleep Train a few months ago, but after going with my sister to Encinitas Mattress Discounters, I wish I had gotten mine there. I believe our salesman was named Tom. When we first entered the store, he was finishing up with another customer, but gave us a quick overview of how the mattresses were organized in the store and let us explore for awhile on our own. When he was able to help us he was friendly, informative, and not too pushy. He explained the design and function of each mattress we tried and the price difference. He also did a price match at the end to ensure that we were getting a competitive price. The only minus was that they weren't able to deliver the mattress until a couple days later. You know that 30 return policy the sales rep tells you about as a selling point? The one you think you will never have to use because in the store the bed was "perfect". Well, we had to use it because the perfect bed in the store was not so great at our house. Afraid the return/trade would be a big hassle... it wasn't. Same rep that sold us the original one cheerfully took care of the return/exchange. Same 2 guys showed up with our new and better mattress. No 3rd degree, no hassle, no rudeness, no calling some support person in another country, basically no big deal. And the 2nd one ended up being cheaper so we didn't have to give them more money so the story ended very well. Recently I decided, "it was time for a new bed." This time around my decision was not based on Cost but on Comfort. I went into the Mattress Firm East, Encinitas location, at 331 N. El Camino Real, in the Michaels' Shopping Center. Jay Gordon, my Salesman, asked me a few questions and in a very methodical way, showed me 3 mattresses' with varying hardness' that were on adjustable bases. (If you haven't seen this new technology, you are in for a mind-blowing experience) Jay educated me about the complexities of a good system and allowed me to decide for myself, which one felt best. When my decision was made, I felt, regardless of cost, the mattress I choose was exactly what I wanted. A mattress best for me. I'd say that my decision was Priceless. What would you pay for a great nights sleep?? After my purchase, Jay scheduled the mattress & adj. base delivery. I got texts telling me when they would be arriving. As a matter of fact, they came early. The men hustled, set up my new system and hauled away my old bed. They called, they came, they split. All in all, I would rate my experience with Mattress Firm was 5 Star. Most Excellent. Good communication has its benefits. Very good service from the store manager when I purchased a couple of mattresses and an underbed support, BUT the delivery guys literally heaved my mattresses out of the delivery truck and onto the street then dropped my bed support on the cement on the way into the house. While the sales guy (Joe) was great, when you mattress and base are delivered he sure to make sure everything is delivered together. When buying our bed we also bought the $250 dollar mattress protector and was told it would be delivered with the mattress and base. But it was never taken off the truck and given to us, the delivery guys forgot it. We were told the drivers would not come back to drop it off the next day. Skip this place. Service and warranty are awful. There is a better store in San Marcos however it is under the same District Manager (Brad) who failed to make a bad situation any better in a recent warranty replacement. He was given ample opportunity to contact us, make the situation better and ultimately keep us as customers. There are better alternatives in Encinitas (look at some of my other reviews). Although my particular issue is related to a warranty replacement, if you are buying an innerspring mattress, ask your sales person to tell you how many inches (yes INCHES) the mattress has to sag before you pay $50 to have someone come out to inspect your mattress. They measure it, and if you have the appropriate sagging amount, then you'll get a warranty replacement. (box springs not included). For my purposes, I was ready to leave the innerspring world and upgrade to a $4K mattress from Tempurpedic. Brad (DM for all of North County, Mattress Discounters) incorrectly led our salesperson to believe that we would have the ORIGINAL warranty on the innerspring, MINUS the amount of time we owned the mattress. (I conferenced in their customer service and disproved the theory) but Brad held his ground. Generically for Mattress Discounters: Pay close attention to their comfort guarantee -- not all are equal. Restock fee? Mattress downgrade refunds, all good questions to ask. To the social media manager at Mattress Discounters who PM'ed me -- thank you so much! But your time for corrective action has passed. We have moved on, and, as promised to Brad, here is my Yelp review. read more
