3rd visit & second review with same result. Average food for average price. I tried the hibachi trio this evening with chicken, steak & shrimp. It came with a lot of brown rice & cabbage. To stream line the review, chicken dry & over cooked, steak was chewy and rubbery, shrimp was hard to find. Taste was good overall, but it's a common theme here for being a little skimpy on the meat portions. My previous review also mentioned lack of pork in fried rice among other things. Third visit, now I am done. Place up the street is better IMHO. read more

We decided to try a different place for Chinese food. Wow What a disappointment. We had the 4 Seasons, crab raggoon and hot and sour soup. We will not be going back. The flavors were bland and terrible. When I placed the order a little child answered the phone and could not understand me or I her. This was terrible. This is the best Chinese restaurant in my location. I like to go and get the pork fried rice cause it's just so good. They really know how to get you in and out too like there service is the best. My husband ordered the chicken lo-mein and I ordered the steak hibachi, and we also got an order of crab rangoon. The steak was the chewiest I've ever had, and the hibachi very unflavorable. My husbands lo-mein was inedible. It had a indistiguishable taste to it, I can't even begin to describe. The crab rangoon was the only thing we enjoyed out of the entire meal, we ended up pitching the rest. Will not return here again. read more

If you live in the Clayton area, this is one of the best places for Chinese takeout in the area. The food is always fresh and the prices are very reasonable. If you are looking for a nice Friday or Saturday takeout spot I would highly recommend this place. Do be sure to call ahead, especially on the weekends. With very few choices of good Chinese takeout, the wait can be pretty long if you try to order in store on these days. If you are looking for some hibachi, this place is a one stop shop. Not a combo you run across too often at other Chinese takeout locations. I highly recommend their hot and sour soup. Very delicious! read more

After reading some of the reviews I honestly expected a little more. Food was average at best and mostly bland. Spicy foods weren't spicy. Sauce had no flavor. Best Chinese in clayton. Food is always hot and fresh. They get so packed sometimes that there is a wait. I wish they wouldn't say "15 minute" every time you order, knowing it will probably be longer. I normally order and wait 20 minutes before I leave the house to pick it up. read more

This is the first time I have ever given a restaurant a 1 review. After our third visit, I think I have given it this place a fair shot. Trip 1 (week one after opening): not good but decided to try again because I would LOVE to have a great place so close to home. Trip 2: husband goes back for take out, he gets sick, decides never to go back. Trip 3 (this weekend): Wife forgets and goes back out of convenience. Husband gets sick again... The oil tastes very old. Why is a baked buttered potato $7.50? Crunchies: forget about it. They are stale from a bag not like the "good ones" from Wok and Grill. Almond chicken: had to search for (rubbery) meat. Soup: no flavor. Chinese Donuts (don't judge...): I was looking for a hot fried biscuit and that is what I got but cold, at least a week old and cooked in old grease - major YUK! I am vowing not to go back. I want this place to shut down and a new owner with quality food to come in. read more

The experience of going for food here is more of a chance to wait for a horridly long time for mediocre food, or to get horrifically undercooked food in a mediocre time frame. This was our second time here, which will be best remembered for the wife having been served a ridiculously fatty portion of what was referred to as steak on the menu. The fat to meat ratio was about three to one, which may be wonderful on your trek to the South Pole, but not of much use to an everyday person. The worst part was the odd coloration of the meat when it was finally found. The best description would be the color of a red onion, kind of a bright purple. I was hoping that it was just a bit undercooked, so I gave it a good stir fry at home hoping to at least make our nine dollar dinner useable as a quick lunch the next day. The meat would not cook through...not a joke, it never changed color or seemed to get any more done. No matter what I tried, it was the same odd color and consistency. Almost scary. My entree was the spicy beef which was at least noticeably beef based, but nowhere near spicy. The vegetables were cooked well enough, the rice was edible, just no flavors that made me happy to have eaten there. If you enjoy eating bland stuff that may pass for food, go for it. If you are looking for an experience to create a good stand-up routine around, go for it. If you are looking for decent Asian style food, go about a mile up the road to the place by the food lion. read more

If you are in the Flower Plantation area and dine at the Asia Cafe I would think before you eat there. They do not care about the customers at all. Tonight me and my family placed an order for takeout. They have there daughters answering and taking the orders. They are rude and do not listen when you tell them you have a food allergy. Tonight we placed a to go and my husband is allergic to mushrooms so he always make sure whatever he eats does not have them in it. Well they (being a child) assured him that his food would not have mushrooms. After an over hour wait, was only suppose to be 25 minute wait, get home with the food and what is sitting on the top of the food but a mushroom. WE (meaning him because by this point I am furious after a long wait) calls to let them know about it. The owner assured that they would take care of it. So I go back down there with the food and the owner takes to food and proceeds to dump the food in a bowl to prove a point that only one mushroom made it into the mushroom free meal. Granted I am not happy about having to go back down there but for her to do this shows me she does not plan of rectifying the situation. She looks at me and ask what I want to happen. I said I would like a full refund and a replacement meal for my husbands food. She then proceeds to say you want a full refund for all the other food. By this time I am raising my voice and explain to her that yes my husbands life is a lot more valuable than the food they serve. I stormed out of the restaurant full of other customers that had already saw me there because they are that slow they are still up there waiting on their food. I will be calling the health dept. on Monday to complain about children working in the back with food without properly tying their hair back. read more

We are new to the area and have tried a couple of other local Chinese restaurants and were very, very disappointed. We decided to give Asia Cafe a try and could not be more thrilled. Although it is hard to compare to some restaurants up north, it is so far the best Chinese food in the area. We will be frequent visitors. read more

They have really good food for a fast food style Asian restaurant. Better than most in the area. The only thing I don't like about them is the customer service. The lady who works up there glares at you & is snippy. They even have their young kids working sometimes (which I think is weird) & they like to roll there eyes at you. Almost like they are thinking "stupid Americans". I'm not the only one who has had this experience either. A couple of my friends have said the same. If they could step up their service skills this would definitely be a 5 star place! read more
