Mango Sticky Rice
Emily B.

Loved this place! The restaurant had a very cozy vibe to it. I was met with great hospitality and accommodating staff, which allowed me to have a pleasant dining experience. I had several rolls, pad see ew, and mango sticky rice. All of which were tasty and flavorful! Would definitely come back here!

I go here pretty often, and the food NEVER disappoints. Their service all around is commendable, and the vibe there is tranquil. I love this bistro and will def be going back

Eel avocado, 2 speciality rolls on right
Tara B.

The ratings are accurate. I would say this is a mediocore sushi/asian spot. I went for lunch. Service is amazing! Food came out very quick. I gave 3 stars because the sushi rolls weren't anything special. Eel avocado was the best one but the California roll and spicy tuna didn't taste super fresh. Plenty of space, a bit dark, but not super busy for being on king st. Crab ragoon was good however miso soup didn't have much flavor. Salad was fresh and used better leaves of lettuce than most asian spots.

Pad Thai

Really shocked by the reviews after eating here. It could be because I had such low expectations but the pad Thai was really good. It 100% had flavor and it was cooked really well. Staff was kind and extremely attentive. I'm very happy with the overall experience here

Hunan Stir Fry (with beef)

A beautiful and rather large interior. The lighting was calm and the atmosphere was very pleasant. We are pretty happy to have discovered this place and look forward to trying more dishes from them in the future. What we got: Tom Kha soup - 4* I really enjoyed it. The lemon is on the stronger side and to get 5 stars from me it would have to have just a smidge less. It also didn't seem very coconut based and looked more red which surprised me but it was still very delicious. I'd order it again. General Tso - 4* great flavor! I loved scooping up the extra sauce and eating it with my rice. The chicken chunks are rather large and I think I would've preferred them to be a bit smaller, but they were also easy to eat and bite into smaller pieces. (Probably could've cut them easily too, I just never even thought to pick up my knife, chopsticks all the way!) Hunan Stir Fry - 3.5* while a very good dish the sauce seemed heavy on the soy sauce. I was expecting it to have a bit more of a spicy kick to it as it was advertised as a spicy sauce but it didn't. The vegetables were cooked very well and we really liked the beef as our meat option.

Drunken Noodles
Latoya J.

First time trying drunken noodles and I loved it! It was so flavorful with just the right amount of spice. I have zero complaints and I can't wait to try them again. Ordered this for lunch and the portion size was perfect and very filling.

Lunch special

Asian bistro has always been one of my favorite sushi spots in the DMV. I love how low-key the location is and the flavors are always immaculate. It was my first time trying the crab wontons and I was not disappointed. They were absolutely delicious and came out hot and fresh. Service is always great as well. Service are always attentive.

This place is so cute. I've heard they have a great lunch special, but we went for dinner and it was perfect. Serving size was just right and the food was super tasty and well priced. It seemed there was only one server on the floor, but he did a wonderful job checking in on everyone and making sure all were satisfied. The food comes out super fast too! Loved the decorations, the vibe, and the experience. Totally recommend!

Shrimp and chicken fried rice

After a day on Amtrak and about 8 miles of walking around DC and Alexandria, we were tired and hungry. We literally picked this place because it was right next to our Airbnb. None of us were really craving Asian, but here we were. Well, Look no further if you are looking for an explosion of tastes in Old Town, Alexandria. Starving or not, we would have recognized the expertise in the chef's knowledge this cuisine. Three of us ordered to share. The rolls were outstanding, the warmth complimenting the textures. We could actually taste the crab in the Crab Rangoons. This is not always the case, often times, whatcha get is some cream cheese without any hint of crab. The General Tso's Chicken was fresh, clean and crisp tasting. I'm not really a fan because I usually sense a smokey flavor. No smokey here. Perfection! My friend ordered a tofu dish with vegetables that was probably some of the best flavored tofu I'd ever eaten. THAT takes talent! My choice was a shrimp and cashew fried rice which was so flavorful I couldn't stop. With all the restaurants to chose from in Old Town, I would make it a point to stop here at Asian Bistro. It's on my "gotta go here again" list.

Appetizer Asian Sampler
Angela Y.

Clean and bright atmosphere. I wanted to love the food, but it was just ok - aside from the dipping sauce for the spring rolls! It's like pineapple something heaven. Had the appetizer sampler, it was a fun way to try a variety of things. I ordered the crab fried rice and couldn't really find any crab in it. My glass never got below half-full. The service was very prompt.

Yum Beef Salad

So let me get this off of my chest... I HATED the sushi from here! It lacked flavor and heat (spice). I couldn't taste any of the fish in the rolls. How disappointing! The jalapeños in one of my rolls was fresh, flavorful and delicious. I guess I should mention what rolls were ordered, huh? Well.... Spicy Yellow Tail, spicy tuna, tuna jalapeño, and the NM roll. The Yum Beef salad was pretty good. The meat was perfectly tenderized and delicious. I also ordered a wonton soup that had 3 wonton. The broth was delicious!

a plate of noodles with meat and vegetables

Made a quick stop to Asian Bistro for lunch during the week. The service was quick and staff was friendly. I had an order or drunken noodles that came with a side salad. The salad was fresh but I didn't think the dressing went well with it. The drunken noodles were a little on chopped up but had good flavor and just the right amount of heat. I've never had green beans in drunken noodles before but it adds a nice little crunch to the dish.

Excellent ambiance, and a very decent lunch special. Rice on the sushi left some to be desired but overall a great experience.

So glad this chain finally hit the DMV. The restaurant features a rooftop and comfy seating. My…read morefriends and I decided to celebrate our friend's bday with some quality cuts of A5 from their premium menu. Some of our favorite menu items include the sukiyaki shabu shabu, lobster roll, wagyu foie spoons, A5 Japanese Wagyu sandwich, Wagyu fried rice, toro sashimi and the matcha crepe cheesecake. What we really enjoyed about this place was the quality and speed of service. You could see the marbling in the buttery toro and fatty A5. We had an extra side tray to put all of our empty dishes. Highly recommend keeping an eye out on the tablet timer so you can constantly reorder once the queue clears. I'll definitely be back to try some of their à la carte menu items. The premium menu was plenty, but we did see diners order from the other menu.

The hot pot made our table so hot. We've notified our waiter, who told the manager, but nothing was done. Not having ac in the restaurant is crazy, especially when outside was 92. It also made the food and experience not enjoyable. Very confused with the lobster roll. It was served with a cherry on the plate. The lobster roll had so much mayo on it. I think they had a power outage or something, and then continued serving the food because when my husband went to get drinks from the fridge, they were warm. He told the staff and they said they were aware. Besides that, the mentaiko udon was sour like it had gone bad. Overall, if we were to go back, we wouldn't get the premium option. It wasn't worth it for us. Hopefully they can get their AC fixed!

Palette 22 had been on our list for the longest time, and now we're just upset we didn't try it…read moresooner! We went on a Saturday night and made a reservation, which I'd definitely recommend. The space is so unique and artsy. The walls are covered with beautiful artwork (some of which you can actually purchase), and even the menus are works of art. It made the whole experience feel fun and creative. The staff was wonderful, especially our server Noah, who was incredibly attentive and made the experience even better. We did the bottomless dinner, and the value is honestly unbeatable. We tried the grilled gem lettuce, marinated cucumbers, street corn, hoisin-glazed pork belly bao buns, P22 cheeseburger sliders, spicy shrimp & pancetta pizza, funghi pizza, dan dan noodles, rigatoni norcina, and the sesame steak skewers. Everything was delicious, but the standouts were the dan dan noodles (rich, savory, and packed with flavor), the funghi pizza (crispy with earthy mushrooms and perfectly melted cheese), and the sesame steak skewers (tender, juicy, and coated in a flavorful sesame glaze). The hoisin-glazed pork belly bao buns were soft, fluffy, and packed with melt-in-your-mouth pork, while the rigatoni norcina was creamy, comforting, and perfectly cooked. The grilled gem lettuce was also a fresh, flavorful way to start the meal. For drinks, the white sangria and pomegranate ginger mocktail were both refreshing and delicious. Dessert didn't disappoint either, the flourless chocolate cake (with candied pecans instead of hazelnuts) was rich without feeling too heavy, and the churros were light, crispy, and perfect with the caramel and chocolate dipping sauces. We finished with cappuccinos, which were the perfect ending to the meal. 10/10 experience, we'll definitely be back!

This was probably my fourth visit to Palette 22. The first time I came, I really enjoyed it, but on…read moresubsequent visits I felt the quality had declined, which is why I stayed away for a while. I decided to give it another shot after they brought back their bottomless dinner and introduced a few new menu items. We opted for the bottomless option and ended up trying almost everything on the menu. Unfortunately, nothing really stood out enough for me to order a second time. The biggest surprise was the butter chicken, which had corn mixed into it for some reason. The street corn was also disappointing, lacking the flavor I was expecting. The lumpia and shrimp tacos were decent but fairly forgettable. The dishes I enjoyed the most were the Cubano sliders and the steak skewers, but my favorite plate of the night was actually the chilled udon noodles. They were refreshing, well-balanced, and one of the few dishes I'd happily order again. One thing Palette 22 continues to do well is the atmosphere. The restaurant has a fun, artsy vibe with colorful murals, paintings, and graffiti covering the walls, making it an enjoyable place to spend an evening. The service was also efficient. We were allowed to order two small plates per person at a time, and each round arrived quickly, so there was very little waiting between orders. Overall, I think Palette 22 is worth trying at least once, especially if you go for the bottomless dinner/brunch. The value is much better than ordering the same dishes à la carte. That said, because the menu doesn't change very often, repeat visits can start to feel repetitive. Unless they significantly refresh the menu, I probably won't be returning again anytime soon.
