Since August or so, my spouse and I (and sometimes our pup when the weather is nice enough to sit on the patio) have been regulars at Thanida. We love everything about this place--excellent cuisine and flavors, friendly and efficient staff, and a cozy atmosphere. We have sat at pretty much every table, the patio, and the bar, and there's not a bad seat in the house. They also have excellent happy hour specials that include not only food but also drinks. We usually start with appetizers including crab Rangoon, garden rolls, calamari, or chicken satay. For mains, we explore the menu, but our favorites (so far) have been the gra prao moo grob (crispy pork belly), drunken noodle, and panang curry. They even have a special "Thai Street Food" menu with some unique options. If you're hosting an event, Thanida can accommodate large parties on the far side of the restaurant. They also do take out. If you're craving Thai in a cozy environment, this is the spot. read more

We popped in here (a small walk from the metro), after visiting the national cemetery. It is a beautiful place with jeweled tones and coziness. We were greeted by the owner team, and had a conversation with the owner after our meal. Super sweet people. We ordered an appetizer (duck spring roll). I never had duck and usually I'm a creature of habit so this was new for me. I forgot what my boyfriend ordered but it was really good too! I had my pad Thai with peanut sauce on the side and a Thai iced tea, like I said, creature of habit. Our dishes were well portioned and I was full quickly that I was able to get a second meal out of my pad Thai the next day. Would absolutely go back. read more

The service here was pretty good. The food was a little underwhelming. I got the crab rangoons. The filling was frozen when it was first served to me. The soft shell crab wasn't that great. So, we went back a third time to order what was a delicious pad prik king with stir fried tofu. Well, it came out a disaster. Tiny pieces of what look liked leftover bits of tofu. We mentioned it to the manager who we got to know personally on our prior visits. Rather than fixing the problem, she got angry. Imagine treating new regulars like that and never seeing them (or their money) again. With so many great Thai options in the nearby area, we won't be coming back. Sad. read more

Stopped by Thanida while in the area because I was starving and their chicken fried rice came highly recommended. I took the recommendation and was glad I did -- it was indeed excellent! So tasty and unlike a lot of subpar fried rice, perfectly done and not too dry. Good amount of egg and chicken too. The restaurant was entirely empty when I arrived (around noon on a weekday), which surprised me since it's a nice spot with decent prices and good food from what I could tell -- but perhaps just a slow day. A few parties did arrive a bit afterwards. I'm pretty positive I'll be back quite soon, the next time a craving hits! read more

The flavors are always fresh, balanced, and authentic, and you can really taste the care that goes into every dish. The atmosphere inside is warm and welcoming, and the service is consistently friendly and attentive, which makes every visit a great experience. My go-to dishes are the Tom Kha soup and the Panang Curry, and they're absolutely unbeatable here. The Tom Kha has the perfect balance of creamy coconut, tangy lime, and fresh herbs, while the Panang Curry is rich, flavorful, and comforting every single time. My only comment is that it comes fairly spicy, so if you can't take the heat, make sure you tell them to make it extra mild. I went to Thanida with a friend on a Saturday night. This was a couple of months ago and no reservation was needed. It's a quaint restaurant located near Old Town. There's street parking but available but it did take a moment to find a spot. Onto the food! It was so good. Genuinely it may be some of the best Thai food I've had in the area. I had Pad See-Ew, and it was delectable. I also had a Lycheetini which was pretty strong. Our server was pretty attentive which made the experience even better. I think $7 or $9 and they extended it until 9 pm when we went during the week. I enjoyed the papaya salad, but maybe next time I'd ask for a little more heat. The curry puffs were good... but those are always hard to mess up. lol Vegetable spring rolls were normal. I had the khao soi which I've never had before, but trying now so I can compare when I go to Thailand next month! It's not my usual flavor that I like for soups, but I thought it was pretty good. Stopped by for dinner today, while it was freezing outside. I think the place is new, but the decor was very nice and inviting. Clean bathrooms and perfect lighting. Seating is comfortable. Service was great too - our servers were attentive and very sweet. We shared the tom yum soup with chicken and while the primary flavor was tangy, it was very good, just a bit one note. Ragz totally loved it. I had the drunken noodles - nicely made and not spicy. I could taste the wok sear on my chicken, which I appreciated. The dish was cooked well with good proportions of meat to noodles to veggies. Ragz got the Pad Pra Grao ( chicken in garlic sauce) and really enjoyed it too. There are drunken noodles and there are Drunken Noodles, you'll know the difference when you eat at Thanida. My first thought on walking in the door was on how well lit the whole eating area was. Natural light coming in through big windows that highlighted the lovely art and made it very easy to see every wonderful bite. Our service was perfect. Timely, polite, had a couple of jokes, and always there to refill our water. I polished my plate faster than I've eaten any meal in weeks, there was a nice bit of heat to the noodles that integrated perfectly with the rest of the flavors. Stopped by for a quick late lunch before football. The atmosphere was nice with pleasant background music and a full bar. Our server was very courteous, adding to the overall experience. Thanida soon have their grand opening, so we were excited to sample their food. The iced tea was excellent, and we tried the dumplings and Tom Yum soup--both were amazing. Art in real form and in every sense of the word, delicious. Whatever was in that sauce, few words needed. Pure satisfactions. Ima need that. It's back! This Thai place used to be at the Montgomery Center in old town. It closed to relocate to more of Potomac yard/ north Del Rey near Braddock Metro. They are currently in their soft opening this week with a grand opening set for Oct 1st. If you can make it Oct 1, do it. It is the exact same. My previous review said it's the best Thai in the area. That stands to the test in the new place. Given this place was closed during renovation and relocation. It is amazing that this family owned business is back and gearing up for customers. It is upscale now. Amazing food and service. 6 stars if I could. Parking is a bit rough. There is a parking area south and across from the extra storage place. Worth the trip in every way. A friend and I wanted to eat near old town on rainy Thursday. We came across Thanida which had a cute patio outdoor seating which I may have taken advantage of had it not been so rainy. It was happy hour, and I enjoyed their options of apps and drinks on the happy hour menu. We started w chicken wings and crab rangoons. I don't like crab rangoons so I won't comment on them, they tasted like they should. The wings were not very good. I expect crispy wings and these were very soggy, and maybe lightly dusted w flour for some crunch but the actual skin was soggy and chewy. Next, my friend's pad Thai looked good but it was made with very thin rice noodles which wouldn't have been my preference.. I like a thicler flat rice noodle. I got the Tom yum soup, which I took a chance on cause I had never had it. It was okay, chicken sausage was a bit dry but otherwise it was warming for a cold rainy day and what I needed. We placed an order for the Thai chicken wings, as we once ordered them at a long closed place and still search for the perfect Thai wings everywhere we go. They offered us water and a place to sit while we waited for our order. We got our wings and finished our walk home. They were perfect! Crispy with the right amount of sauce on them.
