    Thanida. Nice outdoor seating.

So, we went back a third time to order what was a delicious pad prik king with stir fried tofu. Well, it came out a disaster. Tiny pieces of what look liked leftover bits of tofu. We mentioned it to the manager who we got to know personally on our prior visits. Rather than fixing the problem, she got angry. Imagine treating new regulars like that and never seeing them (or their money) again. With so many great Thai options in the nearby area, we won't be coming back. Sad.

Stopped by Thanida while in the area because I was starving and their chicken fried rice came highly recommended. I took the recommendation and was glad I did -- it was indeed excellent! So tasty and unlike a lot of subpar fried rice, perfectly done and not too dry. Good amount of egg and chicken too. The restaurant was entirely empty when I arrived (around noon on a weekday), which surprised me since it's a nice spot with decent prices and good food from what I could tell -- but perhaps just a slow day. A few parties did arrive a bit afterwards. I'm pretty positive I'll be back quite soon, the next time a craving hits!

I went to Thanida with a friend on a Saturday night. This was a couple of months ago and no reservation was needed. It's a quaint restaurant located near Old Town. There's street parking but available but it did take a moment to find a spot. Onto the food! It was so good. Genuinely it may be some of the best Thai food I've had in the area. I had Pad See-Ew, and it was delectable. I also had a Lycheetini which was pretty strong. Our server was pretty attentive which made the experience even better. I definitely recommend visiting and can't wait to go again!

Solid Thai spot... not sure I've had anything that is extremely standout for me, but all was good. Priced as expected these days. The happy hour appetizers were... I think $7 or $9 and they extended it until 9 pm when we went during the week. I enjoyed the papaya salad, but maybe next time I'd ask for a little more heat. The curry puffs were good... but those are always hard to mess up. lol Vegetable spring rolls were normal. I had the khao soi which I've never had before, but trying now so I can compare when I go to Thailand next month! It's not my usual flavor that I like for soups, but I thought it was pretty good. I enjoyed my leftovers the next day. My partner had a ginger chicken dish - was solid. I got my daughter takeout... drunken noodle and she said really liked it from here. Very friendly service -- nice ambience and seemed easy parking... garage was free and a block away.

Still looking for the best Pad See-Ew of the DMV area, and this one is a good contender! Soft, cooked to a crisp state, well seasoned, very good Pad See-Ew. Service is friendly, in a nice environment. I would return.

Everything tastes amazing like in Thailand! We will be back. Moo Ping is our top choice following with Kra Paw Moo Grob. My daughter love the Thai Tea.

This place is simply amazing! First of all, they really know how to make a cocktail. The crab rangoon and pad see-ew were incredible. Service was outstanding too. They made us feel right at home the minute we walked in. The owner stopped by a few times to check on us, and of course everything was amazing with our dining experience.

BEST Thai food i've had in the area. They relocated to a new spot in Alexandria. Dining room has full floor to ceiling windows, comfy seats, and lots of space! Great for date night, family dinner, and large parties! There was also a lot of take out! Service was quick and friendly. Pork belly was crispy and not greasy. Coconut ice cream was fresh. Fried rice is so flavorful. After dining in I went back for take out a week later and everyone was raving about it!

Stopped by for dinner today, while it was freezing outside. I think the place is new, but the decor was very nice and inviting. Clean bathrooms and perfect lighting. Seating is comfortable. Service was great too - our servers were attentive and very sweet. We shared the tom yum soup with chicken and while the primary flavor was tangy, it was very good, just a bit one note. Ragz totally loved it. I had the drunken noodles - nicely made and not spicy. I could taste the wok sear on my chicken, which I appreciated. The dish was cooked well with good proportions of meat to noodles to veggies. Ragz got the Pad Pra Grao ( chicken in garlic sauce) and really enjoyed it too. Well cooked, great proportions etc. Overall enjoyable food and also reasonable. I'd be happy to come back.

There are drunken noodles and there are Drunken Noodles, you'll know the difference when you eat at Thanida. My first thought on walking in the door was on how well lit the whole eating area was. Natural light coming in through big windows that highlighted the lovely art and made it very easy to see every wonderful bite. Our service was perfect. Timely, polite, had a couple of jokes, and always there to refill our water. I polished my plate faster than I've eaten any meal in weeks, there was a nice bit of heat to the noodles that integrated perfectly with the rest of the flavors. What a comfortable and enjoyable experience.

Stopped by for a quick late lunch before football. The atmosphere was nice with pleasant background music and a full bar. Our server was very courteous, adding to the overall experience. Thanida soon have their grand opening, so we were excited to sample their food. The iced tea was excellent, and we tried the dumplings and Tom Yum soup--both were amazing. For the entrée, we had the vegetable drunken noodles. The spice level was perfect, and we absolutely loved the dish. We'll definitely be back to try the whole fish!

Khao Man Gai (Hainan chicken rice) I still think about this dish often

Came here on a whim by destination and restaurant. First time in the city and restaurant. I love love the Hainanese chicken rice. It's simple but executed very well. Art in real form and in every sense of the word, delicious. Whatever was in that sauce, few words needed. Pure satisfactions. Ima need that. The rice was flavorful and to my surprise, even the chicken was deboned too! I was not expecting that given my experience of this type of chicken dish having meat on the bone. Customer service was top notch and sincere. Decor was tasteful and elegant. Consider me a fan. Thank you for this amazing meal.

Eh, I found this place to be just okay…read more The inside is okay. Late on a Saturday night, there's a mix of regular folks, parents with small children getting a weekend treat, and folks with the munchies who just have to have a cookie. Biggest complaint - there are several TV screens, but only one has pricing, one has drinks, and the other was just random shots of stuff they sometimes have. I wish one of them had "current cookie offerings" (it rotates) because otherwise, you had to wait until you got to the front of the line to see what there was, and then people are waiting for you to make up your mind. It just added pressure to what is supposed to be an enjoyable cookie experience. It's not a cheap place (it's a bougie dessert place in NoVa; what do you expect?), but the monster cookies are large and filling and easy to share. We got a half dozen for our family of 5 and that was plenty. We even got an Oat Milk brown sugar tea - it was fine. The whole place is vegan, which does add to the price point, but if that matters to you, this is a good place to get your cookie on. That said, I don't know if it was the lack of egg, or that the monsters were underbaked, but I found the cookies just heavy. The two I will vouch for were the chocolate chip (classic, can't beat it), and the cinnamon roll - I kept coming back to that one. The rest were pretty meh. Service was okay. We had to wait for the next batch of chocolate chip cookies to come out of the oven. I get it, though it took longer than estimated. The weird part was, in the whole time we were sitting waiting (and everyone else had ordered), the clerk handed me my half dozen box and I had to remind her of our drink. Sweet, but spacey. In the end, if you like fancy cookies and/or vegan sweet treats, you might want to give this place a try. Otherwise, you can get plenty of other desserts along King Street.

Not because of the flavors, but the ways you can get your sweet treat (like, cone, cup, sundae, etc.) and other various options (like ice cream, sorbet, custard, etc.) I sampled a couple of sorbet flavors and ended up with a small cup of those two flavors. A small cup is two scoops so it was perfect! The flavors were Lemon Lavender and POG (pomegranate, orange, guava). At first I think I liked the lavender best, but as I continued to eat, I think POG stole the show. They were both refreshing and flavorful and I appreciated the blends to give my tastebuds new flavors. Del Ray is such a cute neighborhood too. I sat outside at the tables/benches to eat. If you're planning a visit, their website is pretty slim and doesn't list all the options for getting a sweet treat. I do think it would be helpful for it to include those options. The server person was clearly impatient with him but made me a little uncomfortable. I got the "Kit Kat" ice cream sandwich. It came in an Oreo wafer and was chocolate custard and was hard as a rock, plus was bland. I had to go back in and ask if it was actually the right thing, since it was so unrelated to KitKat. The cashier guy said yeah, it is KitKat. I told him it was nasty. It was $7.70 when all was said and done. Don't be back.

And they asked if I wanted to try any others. So I got: mango tajin, chocolate cake (not pictured) and chocolate glazed. The chocolate cake was dry and didn't have much flavor. The chocolate glazed was my favorite. The donut was cakey and reminded me of some sweet treat from my childhood that I can't quite put my finger on. Maybe some of the Entenmann's donuts? Anyway, it was really good for being a simple and plain donut. The manjo tajin wasn't bad. It's a plain vanilla cake donut with the mango and tajin in the icing. The flavors were good, but it wasn't worth me finishing. I love donuts and I love specialty donuts.
