The service here was pretty good. The food was a little underwhelming. I got the crab rangoons. The filling was frozen when it was first served to me. The soft shell crab wasn't that great. If I go here again I'll stick or something normal like curry or a sautéed dish. Ambiance was great and the people were nice. And it was in a good location.

Thanida. Nice outdoor seating.

So, we went back a third time to order what was a delicious pad prik king with stir fried tofu. Well, it came out a disaster. Tiny pieces of what look liked leftover bits of tofu. We mentioned it to the manager who we got to know personally on our prior visits. Rather than fixing the problem, she got angry. Imagine treating new regulars like that and never seeing them (or their money) again. With so many great Thai options in the nearby area, we won't be coming back. Sad.

Chicken fried rice

Stopped by Thanida while in the area because I was starving and their chicken fried rice came highly recommended. I took the recommendation and was glad I did -- it was indeed excellent! So tasty and unlike a lot of subpar fried rice, perfectly done and not too dry. Good amount of egg and chicken too. The restaurant was entirely empty when I arrived (around noon on a weekday), which surprised me since it's a nice spot with decent prices and good food from what I could tell -- but perhaps just a slow day. A few parties did arrive a bit afterwards. I'm pretty positive I'll be back quite soon, the next time a craving hits!

I went to Thanida with a friend on a Saturday night. This was a couple of months ago and no reservation was needed. It's a quaint restaurant located near Old Town. There's street parking but available but it did take a moment to find a spot. Onto the food! It was so good. Genuinely it may be some of the best Thai food I've had in the area. I had Pad See-Ew, and it was delectable. I also had a Lycheetini which was pretty strong. Our server was pretty attentive which made the experience even better. I definitely recommend visiting and can't wait to go again!

Still looking for the best Pad See-Ew of the DMV area, and this one is a good contender! Soft, cooked to a crisp state, well seasoned, very good Pad See-Ew. Service is friendly, in a nice environment. I would return.

Curry puffs

Solid Thai spot... not sure I've had anything that is extremely standout for me, but all was good. Priced as expected these days. The happy hour appetizers were... I think $7 or $9 and they extended it until 9 pm when we went during the week. I enjoyed the papaya salad, but maybe next time I'd ask for a little more heat. The curry puffs were good... but those are always hard to mess up. lol Vegetable spring rolls were normal. I had the khao soi which I've never had before, but trying now so I can compare when I go to Thailand next month! It's not my usual flavor that I like for soups, but I thought it was pretty good. I enjoyed my leftovers the next day. My partner had a ginger chicken dish - was solid. I got my daughter takeout... drunken noodle and she said really liked it from here. Very friendly service -- nice ambience and seemed easy parking... garage was free and a block away.

This place is simply amazing! First of all, they really know how to make a cocktail. The crab rangoon and pad see-ew were incredible. Service was outstanding too. They made us feel right at home the minute we walked in. The owner stopped by a few times to check on us, and of course everything was amazing with our dining experience.

BEST Thai food i've had in the area. They relocated to a new spot in Alexandria. Dining room has full floor to ceiling windows, comfy seats, and lots of space! Great for date night, family dinner, and large parties! There was also a lot of take out! Service was quick and friendly. Pork belly was crispy and not greasy. Coconut ice cream was fresh. Fried rice is so flavorful. After dining in I went back for take out a week later and everyone was raving about it!

Tom yum soup

Stopped by for dinner today, while it was freezing outside. I think the place is new, but the decor was very nice and inviting. Clean bathrooms and perfect lighting. Seating is comfortable. Service was great too - our servers were attentive and very sweet. We shared the tom yum soup with chicken and while the primary flavor was tangy, it was very good, just a bit one note. Ragz totally loved it. I had the drunken noodles - nicely made and not spicy. I could taste the wok sear on my chicken, which I appreciated. The dish was cooked well with good proportions of meat to noodles to veggies. Ragz got the Pad Pra Grao ( chicken in garlic sauce) and really enjoyed it too. Well cooked, great proportions etc. Overall enjoyable food and also reasonable. I'd be happy to come back.

Drunken Noodle

There are drunken noodles and there are Drunken Noodles, you'll know the difference when you eat at Thanida. My first thought on walking in the door was on how well lit the whole eating area was. Natural light coming in through big windows that highlighted the lovely art and made it very easy to see every wonderful bite. Our service was perfect. Timely, polite, had a couple of jokes, and always there to refill our water. I polished my plate faster than I've eaten any meal in weeks, there was a nice bit of heat to the noodles that integrated perfectly with the rest of the flavors. What a comfortable and enjoyable experience.

Iced tea

Stopped by for a quick late lunch before football. The atmosphere was nice with pleasant background music and a full bar. Our server was very courteous, adding to the overall experience. Thanida soon have their grand opening, so we were excited to sample their food. The iced tea was excellent, and we tried the dumplings and Tom Yum soup--both were amazing. For the entrée, we had the vegetable drunken noodles. The spice level was perfect, and we absolutely loved the dish. We'll definitely be back to try the whole fish!

Khao Man Gai (Hainan chicken rice) I still think about this dish often

Came here on a whim by destination and restaurant. First time in the city and restaurant. I love love the Hainanese chicken rice. It's simple but executed very well. Art in real form and in every sense of the word, delicious. Whatever was in that sauce, few words needed. Pure satisfactions. Ima need that. The rice was flavorful and to my surprise, even the chicken was deboned too! I was not expecting that given my experience of this type of chicken dish having meat on the bone. Customer service was top notch and sincere. Decor was tasteful and elegant. Consider me a fan. Thank you for this amazing meal.

They walked us to our table and was so accommodating. On an extremely hot day like today (103F) it was refreshing to walk into a nice cool and nicely lit and decorated place. It was very relaxing. The parking was off the street and is free for 2 hours. There were plenty of spots available just at the front of the restaurant. We ordered the Whole Fried Flounder and the Massaman Curry with shrimp and for dessert the Magnolia Creme Crepe. I am partial to good Crepe dessert... and this place offered different selection. A plus! The food was freshly prepared and was very tasty. I would recommend trying this place out. You will not be disappointed.

Really lively spot with a bit quirky ambiance. We got a Chicken Pad Thai (as a baseline) and a Red Curry which is apparently spicer than Green Curry. Both dishes were excellent, curry was layered and creamy, amazing with the rice. Pad Thai noodles were bouncy and had a lot of wok hei - really well stirfried. Chicken was softly seasoned to be more compliment to the dish. Lots of toppings.

Was seated by a delightful young lady, and found the decor and layout to be quite pleasing; modest by elegant. As for the fare, it was indeed quite worth the walk. Ordered a bowl of Tom Yum and the Pad Thai Mun Goong. The Tom Yum was solid and quite flavorful, a flux of tangy lemongrass with the oniony sweetness of steeped scallions, and enoki mushrooms to provide some heartiness. The Pad Thai Mun Goong was a chef specialty pad Thai made with stir fried rice noodle, prawns shrimp tomalley oil (a crucial element for this version), egg and bean sprouts, naturally topped with green onions, peanuts and a lime for squeezing, and this also was quite phenomenal. Savory, sweet, a little tingle of sourness from the citrus in the mid-palate, and the juicy, briny shrimp balancing the dense carbs and rich flavorful sauce. All-in-all, I was well pleased this visit. As this is Padaek's second location, I hope they don't expand too much further/quickly and compromise on quality.

We came here for an early lunch, and we ordered: +Crab Rangoon - triangular-shaped, generously filled with the cream cheese/crab mixture; could have been a bit more crispy, as it was slightly chewy; the sweet & sour dipping sauce was a great complement +Chow Fun - we opted for the beef as a protein; the noodles were extremely wide, which was great; you can kick it up with chili oil and soy sauce; beef were plentiful +Mongolian Beef - lots of onions and scallions, this had a good flavor; you can add more of a saltiness to it with soy sauce This is definitely a family-run and -operated eatery, as the youngest son was taking orders and manning the register; all orders were made-to-order, so what you will be receiving will be super fresh! This is a family-run restaurant and it was great to see that they had their very young son manning the counter and the cash register in a totally professional way. The menu is straight-forward with the usual and expected dishes. One dish I did not expect to see, but did, were hush puppies! Everything we ordered for takeout was excellent. Portions are generous and inexpensive. Note: there are two tables in the restaurant if you prefer to dine in. We ordered egg drop soup, crispy pork wontons, Mongolian Chicken and Mongolian Beef. The egg drop soup was better than your typical egg drop soup, with a flavorful broth and silky but still hearty texture. The wontons were packed with pork and came with a tasty bright red dipping sauce that complimented the wontons nicely. The Mongolian Beef and Mongolian Chicken are the same dish, with the only difference being the meat. These dishes were very well prepared with just the right amount of onion, scallion and sauce. The beef had a delicious slightly smoky flavor and was cut into nicely shaped pieces. The Mongolian dishes automatically come with white rice. Speaking of the rice, it had a great texture and just the right amount of moisture. Take out orders may take up to a half hour for them to be prepared, but it is well worth the wait. We will be back.
