Very convenient location for lunch, with great lunch specials. While I have been a few times, I have experience different situations with my food not being correctly prepared. Yet this has been my experience, I would say that personal tries it's best to make it work. I'm not impressed with the taste of the food, I find that if I have to smoother things in hot sauce to get some taste, then it's not all that for me. But then again, you may like the food a bit bland. 3 Star will do for now! read more

Wonderful little place in the heart of Old Town. Really varied menu (Thai, Chinese, sushi). My pad Thai was excellent, lots of flavor. My wife really enjoyed her chicken with panang curry, which had a good kick of heat for only being a medium. The service was top notch; friendly, quick, and attentive. We haven't been to Asian Bistro since the pandemic but it's one of our favorite places in Alexandria for Asian cuisine. Since it's pan-Asian, you can get Thai, Vietnamese, sushi, etc. Their curries are very good. I'm looking forward to eating here again once I get my vaccine! read more

Was thinking Taco Tuesday till I saw this place was serving ramen. Normally try to sit outisde, but this place wasn't busy and was in an area by myself. While I was skeptical of ramen from an fusion place, I thought my shoyu ramen was pretty good. Ordered the summer roll, which was ok wasn't sure if there was actually shrimp in the roll as listed. The Shumai is very delicious and the fried spring rolls are the best. I never tasted drunken noodles and theirs were the first and so good and balanced with just enough sweetness, spices and sauce. I've tried calamari from other establishments and it turned me off, so I decided to try it here and it was the best. Fresh food and great service! While walking along King Street with friends, we got hungry and started looking for places to eat. We finally came across Asian Bistro and after looking through the menu located outside of the door, we decided to give this place a try. Asian bistro, indeed. The menu consisted of Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Thai food (I think that was it). Me being me, I was conflicted between the ramen, some sushi rolls, or the General Tso chicken. I finally decided on the chicken. The food took nearly 30 minutes, which I believe was preposterous considering there were maybe 5 other people in the restaurant. The waiter was pretty monotoned with an annoyed tone whenever he talked to us. We couldn't tell if that's just how he normally was or if he was annoyed by us. It personally made me feel unwelcomed. The chicken wasn't the best General Tso I've had, and it wasn't the worst. It was...pretty average. I think I prefer the regular take-out Chinese food over the Chinese food in this restaurant. The Thai tea was really good, though. If you decide to eat here, try the Thai tea for yourself! read more

Decided to treat myself this evening by visiting this oldie but goodie. I love their thai food but I was in the mood for sushi this time! I believe the owner was working here at the time and he was super welcoming. I sat at the sushi bar where I ordered a spicy tuna roll, dynamite roll, and small warm saki. The spicy tuna was good but I didn't realize the dynamite roll was baked. There is also way too much spicy mayo on the sushi menu. Im more of a purist when it comes to sushi so I dont need it drenched in mayo and baked. I have also tried the Ramen here and wasn't wild about it. With that said, Its still the only thai restaurant I will eat from in Old Town so I will just stick to there thai selection in the future. read more

Came here with family and friends on a Saturday, we were quickly seated. The food was alright, not much to brag about. For appetizers we ordered calamari and vegetable gyoza. I wasn't a fan of the sauce that came with the calamari, it had a funky taste. Also, I'm pretty sure they served us pork gyoza which isn't okay considering my bf is vegan. For an entree my bf and I shared the vegetable fried rice, it was tasty but came out luke-warm. I ordered sushi rolls which were poorly put together and had too much rice. I ordered a spicy tuna roll and they gave me a spicy salmon roll. I'm pretty picky about my salmon when it comes to sushi, their salmon tasted slightly fishy but the spicy mayo hid most of the fishy taste. Ordered via Uber Eats. We had sushi meal and Chirashi. Both were delicious and good amount of food. Both came with miso soup and salad. The salad dressing was one of the best part of the meal. This is a place where I really wished Yelp had half-star options! My friend and I tried this place when we had a sushi craving in Alexandria. We ordered a variety of appetizers (including edamame, fried tofu, and an avocado salad) along with three of their specialty rolls. Just a tip: this was way too much food for two people :) I thought all of the prepared food was done well, especially the sushi rolls, which exceeded my expectations. Their version of the spider roll was assembled excellently, with nary an errant portion of crab escaping from any section of the roll. The tuna jalapeño was also a standout, with a great combination of spiciness, crunch, and cilantro. We also tried the crystal roll, which had spicy scallop, avocado, tobiko, and white tuna on top. To be honest, I wasn't that excited about a scallop roll, but it was quite tasty (and similarly to all the rolls, well-assembled). However, the service was somewhat spotty. Partially, I think our waitress was relatively new to the roll, and at one point, a more experienced waitress came by to help her out with some tasks. It also took us a bit longer than expected to get our check. However, every server was friendly and patient (and probably more attentive when we ordered in the beginning, when the restaurant was less busy). This is definitely a solid place to try, and it will only get better once they work out their service kinks. read more

I really like to support my old town business but this one let me down. I can't vouch for the sushi, but their Vietnamese bbq vermicelli dish was grossly lacking. One extra star given because it was eatable. However, the to go dish was tiny, the pickled vegetables were not very pickled. Was around $12, for such a small portion. The funny story about my visit to Asian Bistro is that I went out that afternoon looking for lunch at another restaurant. They were closed and the pizza place nearby was also done with lunch. I walked a block or so and stumbled upon this amazing gem. The traditional Asian decor was eye-catching and pleasing. The seating was nicely spaced and the staff was ultra friendly! I went in, eyes wide with thoughts of sushi, but upon looking at the menu decided differently. GENUINE YAKISOBA NOODLES! This just happened to be on the first warm day of the season but I didn't care. How could I say no to succulent seasoned pork, seaweed, and delicious hot, steaming broth? I couldn't. The flavors of this soup sung a symphony in my mouth and I proudly hummed along (yes, I make happy humming noises when I eat good food). My only regret is that I didn't get a hard-boiled egg on top. The custom request for a salmon skin roll was just the cherry on top of this spectacular lunch. First let me say service here is excellent. I didn't want to write this post, but after what I went through last night I feel I should at least let people know. I went to this restaurant around 8:45 PM last night and at 3 AM I woke up with worst cramp in my life and proceeded to throw up my strawberry daiquiri. I am lying in bed trying to piece together what happened. I had 1 strawberry daiquiri and shared 1 drunken noodle chicken. I enjoyed my meal, but after we left I felt a little sick, but I just attributed that to overeating. Please read my other reviews I have never gotten sick, this is a first time for me. I just caution others to think twice before ordering the strawberry daiquiri. I probably will never come back here, but I hope that management takes my concerns seriously so this does NOT happen to anyone else. read more

I really enjoyed dinner here. My husband ordered the drunken noodles with chicken, I ordered the lemongrass noodles with shrimp and chicken, and we shared the house salad with ginger soy vinaigrette. The salad dressing was so good! We both enjoyed our noodles - great quality noodles, food came out super hot (temperature), and the flavor was delicious. Everything tasted fresh and came in generous portions. I also really liked sitting inside. With the nice big window, you can see the action on King St, but inside, it was very relaxing - nice music playing but not too loud. This is my favorite Thai place in Old Town Alexandria! They have an amazing weekday lunch special. It is dine-in only, and is definitely a great deal. You have many different options to pick from, from sushi to Korean bulgogi set dishes to thai noodles. The menu is double sided and you can find something you'd enjoy for sure. For the $9.99 lunch special, you get to pick an appetizer along with your entree. I would recommend the shrimp summer rolls with peanut sauce or the hot and sour soup. They have some other soups too, like Tom Yum. My favorite dish here is the Pad See Ew with beef. The noodles are the perfect texture, and the flavoring is just right. The beef is tender and it is a generous portion. The Curry Laksa with chicken was also quite good. We got it with the egg noodles. The curry broth is delicious and you will want to drink it all at the end! It is savory and creamy with coconut milk. Would be perfect if you are feeling chilly and craving something warm and soothing. Give the Thai ice coffee a try too- even though the glass is mostly ice, it is still a good deal at only $3. Ordered here a few times and the food is far from consistent (especially when it comes to spice level). Never really know the quality that you're going to get either. Sometimes the food is good but others not so much. We order the fried rice and some of the noodle entrees. I asked for medium/low spice and the food was so spicy I couldn't even eat it, told them about it and they could care less. The pad thai isn't ANYTHING like real Thai pad thai, it's got some sort of hybrid peanut flavored sauce on it and one time when I got it the NOODLES were overcooked!
