I was in the mood for something warm and comforting on a cold January day. A meal with lots of healthy vegetables and proteins. I passed this place across from the Acme Shopping Center, and just down the road from Brookdale's Lincroft campus. So I stopped in. I was immediately greeted by the staff, who introduced themselves, then seated me. I was impressed with the style and newness of the decor. A fully stocked sushi bar is prominently featured, and the beautifully decorated restaurant has comfortable tables and chairs throughout. The Asian Bistro has a cool sophisticated look, and a picture menu, which I'm sure is helpful to those patrons that are unsure of what to order. I enjoyed my hot and sour soup; redolent with velvety mushrooms and strips of tofu, with a "just right" spicy broth and enoki mushrooms and various types of Asian vegetables. I finished every drop. And....my entree was not served until I finished my soup. A rare treat, usually the entree is delivered halfway through the soup/appetizer course, in far too many restaurants. My entree was called Triple Delight with garlic sauce. It arrived on a modern, square plate, stacked high with firm, not mushy shrimp, chicken, and beef slices. Broccoli and carrots, celery and mushrooms bathed in a spicy garlic sauce, and accompanied by a bowl of rice. The service was attentive and friendly. In fact everyone from the manager to the sushi chefs were quite friendly and accommodating. The quality of my dish was excellent; both in presentation and taste. The portion was quite generous as well. It just hit the spot! This newly re-opened, re-decorated, and re-imagined restaraunt is definitely worth a try. The new owners have created a nice and inviting decor. You'll like It if you want to sit down to eat rather than just takeout. The food is even better. The sushi is well presented and super fresh. We started with Thai Tom Yum soup that was good and spicy with a ladle full of baby shrimp. Had the dumplings and they were loaded with pork. A week before we got takeout and their Chinese food was good too. We had the beef chow fun, fried egg rolls, and won ton soup. I don't understand why it's so difficult to find decent Chinese and PanAsian food around here. First thing you need to know is that Asian Bistro has closed. Thank god! Even though I never ate there after it was Eastern Empire the conditions there were always in my head. Eastern Empire was gross, dirty and just really bad food. When I found out that Asian Bistro had closed and moved in to Ahi Sushi I was willing to give it a try. Ahi was decent, not the greatest. But decent. The place was pretty nicely decorated and seem pretty clean (in stark contrast to the rundown looking strip mall with a hazardous parking lot). My favorites were the hand rolled sushi rolls. Three stars is generous but the food is ordinary, not bad. The service is another story. Waitress didn't open our wine, brought the wrong drinks and got our order wrong. Ordered 18 piece sushi roll, received 6 pieces of ginger. When dinner came anD there was an extra entree waitres said it was our fault and charged us for it. If this is ok with you then enjoy. Recently remodeled (and very much needed!), the chinese food here is mostly standard items seen elsewhere, but definitely above average quality. What makes this 'new and improved' restaurant most notable for me is that they added sushi...and its just about the freshest and 'meatiest' sushi rolls I have ever bought. Got a flyer in my mailbox announcing new ownership for the Asian Bistro. Flyer included scan code for 10% off first online order. Offers free delivery. So order we did. The online system allows comments and requests under each item ordered. I ordered egg drop soup with no pepper. The soup was so peppery I threw it down the sink. I ordered steamed vegetable gyoto. Came fried. My husband ordered boneless spare ribs. They were tasteless and we threw them in the garbage. The free delivery? They charged us a $2.00 "surcharge". Not a big deal certainly, but don't say it's free, not mention it's WALKING DISTANCE from my house! Why the "surcharge."? And best of all, that 10% off? Didn't exist. Very disappointing. I have been a long time customer of Asian Bistro in Lincroft, both ordering on-line and in restaurant. Last weekend I attempted to order on line and was sent to the Ahi Sushi website, I called Asian Bistro and was told then are now affiliated and I should place my order n the Ahi Sushi website. It was obviously a different website, the prices had significantly gone up, the website did not say if I was ordering an individual entree or a container. The old website clearly stated it was an entree and then gave me a choice of white rice for free or other rice for small charge, new website had nothing. After I was done with my selections, I opened my cart and tried to remove one item, couldn't do it. My order came to almost $130, I chose delivery for $5 fee, the website asked me if I wanted to give a calculated tip of 18% (that would have been ~$23 for delivery) or a custom amount. The delivery was on time, I was just surprised how little food was there for the amount I spent. I will no longer be ordering food from there. read more

Finally EXCELLENT Chinese take out!! Food was delicious, cooked to perfection and delivered hot, in a timely manner. Asian dumplings were light and tasty. I ordered salmon roe sashimi and it was inedible. The eggs they served me had surely gone bad. Even the salmon rolls I ordered tasted like they were nearly spoiled. Surprisingly good. When I walked in I had planned to eat there, but the dining room was cold (literally) and not very welcoming. Instead of staying to eat, we ordered the food to go. The counter area looked like your basic Chinese-Mexican take-out place like they have all over NYC, and I have never had very good food at one of those, so I did not have very high hopes. But, when we got our food home it was really very good. The prices were also very good. This restaurant delivers also, so either for that or take-out, I recommend it. The dining room has the bare bones for dining, and with a little love, and heat, it could easily be a place for sit-down dining. read more

Wish I could give this place 3.5 stars, but in fairness its typical performance is closer to 4. The main issue here then is consistency , but when they're on they are really on. An example, fried dishes like Tsos or sweet and sour chicken when on will have a delicate crisp and retain a positive oil level which is a rarity for delivery in my experience. Your mileage will vary with more elaborate dishes, but honestly, they are SO fast a lot can be forgiven. read more

Terrible food! The Kun Pao chicken was probably a couple days old ... dry, stale, overcooked .. I couldn't eat it!! The hot & sour soup was too watery and had a small amount of vegetables and virtually no meat. And on top of that it was more expensive of another Chinese' restaurant a few hundred feet away. I've ordered take out twice and been great both times! Shrimp in garlic sauce was very good. So was crispy orange chicken, general tso, fried rice, and lo mein. Really was pleasantly surprised. Food is OK most of the time, but the past two times we have eaten there (once in December and once last week) my kids got sick overnight. It could've been a bug of course but with both of them it was about 6 hours after eating the food and none of us were sick after them. As much as I wish we could k keep going there I don't want to risk it. I will say that the staff was always wonderfully friendly when I picked up the food, hence the second star. read more

Food is good, however the customer service is horrible. They are not pleasant to deal with when they mess up your order and need to correct it. I also found a foreign object that was not suppose to be in the dish I ordered. I called and showed it to driver and I asked for a refund. I've been going here for at least 6 years for a couple of things, both Chinese and Thai cuisine. However, it seems like their quality is going downhill. The white jasmine rice is cheap quality, some of their said dishes lack some of the ingredients that they said would be in there, and especially their hot and sour soup. Now if you're a hot and sour soup fan like I am, then you'll know they had the best hot and sour soup, EVER! Back then the premium price justified the means, but not now. Now it's like $4-5 for a quart of hot and sour soup. The difference between then and now, is that the soup now is more watered down and has less of the good stuff. They skimped out A LOT on ingredients; they used to put more bamboo shoots, more woodear mushrooms, more button mushrooms, more pork, more tofu, more of that green vegetable, and more spices/seasoning. Now I don't even travel to go there anymore just for the hot and sour soup. it's very disappointing, because they skimped out so much, meanwhile they raised the price. ... On the upside the owners are very nice, but man oh man is the quality going downhill. :( read more
