Title: Disappointing Experience - I Won't Be Back When I first walked in, I was hopeful. The place is large, well laid out, nicely decorated, and very clean-looking. First impressions were great. But as I approached the buffet, I noticed a strong smell that made me hesitate -- I wish I had trusted my instincts. Unfortunately, the food confirmed my concern. The fried items all had an unpleasant, stale oil taste. I sampled a variety of dishes -- chicken, pork, beef -- and most were overcooked, rubbery, and lacking freshness. The soups (egg drop and hot and sour) also tasted "off," so I didn't feel comfortable eating them. In the end, the watermelon was the only thing I really enjoyed, and I had several wedges just to fill up. For comparison, my go-to buffet is Hibachi Buffet at Hillsboro & Powerline, which is consistently excellent with fresh food and friendly service. This place, sadly, was the opposite experience. I will say, the woman taking care of the tables was very nice -- attentive, thorough, and considerate. She was a bright spot in an otherwise disappointing visit, and my comments about the food are in no way a reflection of her efforts. So, I just want to clarify because, I see check marks (that I didn't create in this review, they just came about on their own) just the food is bad, NOT the ambiance or service... Honestly this is more of a three and a half review but it doesn't deserve the four star review which is upsetting. Overall it is a very good buffet and grill where they have hibachi at certain times of the day and they also have some really good sushi spreads and varieties, it is on the small side but the type of sushi they have is always wonderful. It always tastes fresh which is a good thing especially when it comes to a buffet. The food is always hot when I am getting up to get some more and they always have a huge variety of foods whether it is Boneless ribs, orange chicken, honey chicken, General Tso's chicken and many other varieties of chicken and beef. They also have white rice, fried rice, and lo mein noodles and they honestly have some of the best crab Rangoon that I have ever had! The staff is relatively friendly and the plates are always cleaned off the table as soon as I am done with it and getting ready to head up to the buffet for the next plate. They are also very quick with refilling drinks and they don't try to rush you out of there. At a price tag of $10.99 per person for lunch, and I believe a couple more for dinner, it is easily going to be the place that I go to over and over because I like the food, the atmosphere is nice and the place is decorated very nicely as well. They have a beautiful little Rock waterfall and a gorgeous peacock wooden carving. Well I guess I should have expected the food quality because it's a buffet, the food was only warm and most of the breaded chicken was overcooked. The service was good and nice atmosphere. Asian Buffet and Grill is one of several lower price point Asian buffets in the area. It's under $15 at its peak price and includes a wide selection of eclectic food. I have been here a couple of times and never reviewed it but it is time to speak out. If I have ever gone here it was to make someone happy. If I could have picked the restaurant, it would have literally been anywhere else. Fortunately I had an amazing lunch at a gourmet gastropub so I made the sacrifice. On the good side they are clean and have an okay decor which includes an amazing carved peacock out of wood. The service is always very friendly. The restaurant is massive with two sides but I have only ever seen the left side open. Unfortunately the food is not great. They have strange selections for an Asian Buffet like a tub full of olives, pigs in a blanket, apple strudel, and congealed Kraft macaroni and cheese. These are served alongside pepper steak, crawfish, and coconut shrimp. They serve soup and have a hibachi. The ingredients are laid out but I have never seen it in operation. I can only wonder about the "chef's" culinary background with some of the choices. That said I can make it work by sticking to the noodles and vegetables. I had a few of the peel and eat and shrimp and a crab Rangoon. The pork was swimming in grease and the sushi did not look good. Dessert is ice cream, Jello, fruit, and an assortment of dry little cakes including the standard coconut one. My family loves an all you can eat Asian buffet. To the point that they used to eat at one by our house that was dirty and and made people in the family sick several times. It probably saved their lives when it was shut down. I tell that story to illustrate the point that the bar on buffets that make them happy is set way low. At least I have never gotten sick here. Dinner was $30 with hot tea plus tip. I would have gladly taken that $30 to Publix and cooked a good meal over this. From what I have witnessed their customers tend to be older couples and single men that don't cook. If you just want to be filled and don't care too much about the taste, this may be an option for you. read more

Food used to be awesome here, now its just so-so and most of the food is NEVER HOT..actually COLD. Only a few dishes were actually warm. The food is actually great but the women waiting the tables are disgusting thieves! I've gone twice! And had the same experience both times after addressing the issue the first time! The first woman who charged me pointed out that I had to give the complete amount of minimum tip! That is not a requirement anywhere! The second time the same thing happened except I told the woman I'll give her $5 and when she gave me my change back she had taken $6. Very rude and forceful behavior! Food was MEH, "vegetable fried rice" is just yellow rice with no flavor, I hope you love sushi as much as I do, cause they got mysterious sushi, no signs almost tasted like a sweet plantain was on top, so if your a sushi lover this is not the place. they got the white rice right at least... Other than friendly service there isn't much to write home about here. I came in two days ago to this place and honestly I like to judge a buffet at the tail end of their meal time. I came in for the lunch buffet and the quality of what was still available needed a lot of help. The Dim Sum looked so old, even like more than a day old, but I'm sure it was only a few hours off. The friend rice choice is the cheap yellow kind... sign of a very low quality Chinese spot. I read the reviews and wasn't sure what to expect, but was not disappointed. The Asian buffet price has risen to 10.99, but they had quite a selection of food. Upon entering, you are greeted and brought to one of two large dining areas. The waitress offers you a drink and asks if you want chopsticks. The buffet area is massive and includes a hibachi station and a sushi station. They also had a variety of dishes such as honey chicken, general chows chicken, pepper steak, little oysters, crab salad, a variety of soups and noodles, white rice, fried rice, egg rolls, crab Rangoon, salad, pigs in a blanket, vegetables, and so much more. For dessert they had a variety of fruits, different puddings, cookies, cakes, apple pie, and an ice cream station. I tried a little bit of a lot of dishes. It wasn't the best Asian food I've ever had, but it wasn't bad. If you are hungry, I suggest trying out this restaurant. read more

This afternoon had choice, here and Chow Time and made the wrong decision. I wish they had salad bar, all they had Iceberg Lettuce and sliced cheese, no condiments to go with to create a nice salad. The rest I will say the Pigs in Blanket had the best taste. The rest of the food, was so so, not very tasty. I was entered at 1PM to get fresh food. It didn't matter, certainly was bland. Bad, really bad! Bland food, the restaurant reeks of burnt oil and just smells dirty upon entering. This place has lost its passion. The windows are filthy, the carpets entirely stained. Just a grimey feeling from the entire lackluster atmosphere. They don't even have real dinner plates or utensils; they make you eat off of Styrofoam plates and eat with cheap flimsy plastic utensils. Don't expect your drink to be served in a glass either; it's Styrofoam too! I understand this is the days of COVID-19 but other restaurants use glass for drinks, real plates, and metal utensils. Most of the food is barely palatable. I had to spit out the dumplings because the pork was so oily and spoiled. The sushi was not fresh or even had a taste to it, plus there wasn't much of a variety; probably about 4 kinds of sushi. The majority of the food looked so bad, I didn't even want to try and strange and odd-looking concoctions of assorted mystery meat. I would highly discourage anyone from eating at this poor excuse of a restaurant. Save your money and feel satisfied in every way at better quality food establishments of similar ethnic fare like Miyako Buffet in Pompano, and Chow Time near Commercial Blvd. The desserts didn't even look appetizing, so much so, that I took a look at them, turned around, and headed straight to pay for the "food" to get out of there as quick as possible. I go to an Asian buffet, when I'm travelling, and need my vegetables. I know that no matter how tawdry the selection, how tepid the trays, how uninspiring the food, I will be able to pick out specific bits of nutrition, and add enough hot sauce for basic survival, and some enjoyment. I was blown away by this place, in a nondescript strip mall, on a nondescript road, in the middle of nowhere. The selection of seafood alone, was a delight. The meats were good. The veggies plentiful. Seriously, the quality far and away surpassed all expectations, the variety was tantalizing - - everything really satisfying. Sure there were certain things I wouldn't go for - - but that's the benefit of a buffet - - you use your senses to pick things that look sharp, that look vibrant, and here there was remarkably much. I couldn't stop eating the clams. I don't like to eat a large quantity of food, so it involved strategy and discipline to pick out the variety of flavors for a couple of plates. My mom wanted to try this place out and though I usually don't go to buffets, I agreed to come because she offered to pay. I don't like the idea of food sitting out in a busy open space but I came to spend some time with my mom and eat. The food was pretty good. Nothing to write home about and nothing special. The fried shrimp was good and so was the fried chicken wings but the chicken on a stick was dried out. The fried rice wasn't too flavorful either but the lo mein was okay. The place was pretty busy at dinner time on a Friday but we didn't have to wait for a table so that was good. The service was okay too. I didn't go into the bathroom but I heard the lady at the table next to us remark that it wasn't clean. I can't confirm it though but it's worth noting. Overall the price is pretty good. We paid $24.36 for two people. We didn't end up resting much though but I think it's just because we weren't as hungry as we thought. Sorry my pictures aren't good. I'm not exactly sure why this Chinese type buffet has received such low scores. Yes, the ambiance is a little old and bland, but your not eating it. Other than the Sushi not being marked for us to recognize, the other foods were hot and prepped well on the luncheon buffet for 8.50 each. As with most buffets, there is much to much to ever try everything. We watched as most dishes were consistently being refilled and hot in temperature. We enjoyed many Chinese favorites and kids tried some items (Mussels, Osyters, dumplings, and potstickers) they normal would not order. The restaurant has a Hibachi area in back with some basic staples, they did not have shrimp and limited sauces in order to make the dish your own. Our waitress, Mini, was very caring and spot on with refills. She even somehow noted I needed a toothpick and brought one. All the other wait staff work together to immediately pickup old dishes and keep tables nice. read more

I'll start with the positive notes. Restaurant was clean (no flies anywhere), dishes were all fully stocked at 1 PM except for one (chicken teriyaki) that was empty. Sushi was presented very neatly and nicely with plenty of wasabi and ginger, but they have discontinued the two sauces that used to be available on the side (one was soy and I don't know what the other one was called). Hibachi was available--I know someone wrote "at certain times of the day"--but it's always been available any time I have gone. The guy in charge of the sushi is now also in charge of hibachi, whereas each area used to have one guy in charge of it, so there has been some staff downsizing. The waitress never rushed me or put any pressure on me to leave (I had three full plates plus dessert and was there about an hour), nor did she hover to react to the tip I added as others have complained about. As for the disappointing elements, those would include, first and foremost, the pricing. Apparently the lunch adult price is now $10.99 and has been for several months, but they are still advertising $9.99 in their monthly ad in Clipper magazine. This is "bait and switch" and deceptive--advertising a lower price that has not been available since last year--and not very honest on their part because once you arrive, who is going to turn around and go home over an extra dollar? But people remember this for next time. The bananas used to be drenched in a special red sweet sauce but now there were just a few dabs of that red in the entire tray. Quality of the hot entrees varied as some were fresher than others. Customers were extremely noisy unnecessarily. Two different people conducted 20 minute plus loud phone calls on SPEAKERPHONE so the entire room could hear both sides of the conversation, and another woman spent 10 minutes yelling at her child for forgetting her cell phone. I know the restaurant can't control people's conduct but it didn't make for an enjoyable ambience. At any rate, it could've been better, hence the 2 stars rating. I'll probably give it another chance, but not for a while. read more
