Since they have sold this place to different management it has gone further and further downhill. The previous owners took pride on the overall experience patrons had while dining here and the current manager lacks every bit of common sense in the customer service department. I have been here 3 times since the new management has been recruited and disappointed would be an indefinite understatement. The food here is still the same quality. Very good and something I will always crave. But the management most certainly has an offputting vibe for all to experience. From cursing in front at the register, to threatening to give away take out orders because the customer "did not come and pick it up in time" I unfortunately will no longer recommend this establishment to any more of my colleagues to save them from an uncomfortable dining experience. read more

Not a fan. The reviews were great so we decided to try somewhere new. Unfortunately, the most recent review is more on point. It seems they have new owners/management. We heard cursing as described coming from the kitchen. We ordered Mai Tais, which are on their drink menu. They had no idea how to make them and served us the drink in the photo. When they brought it to the table I pointed out it was not a Mai Tai and was told "I just deliver them I don't make them." That server then left and we wondered who would take our order, etc. It was bizarre. The food was decent. The potstickers and spring rolls and frozen. The pad tai was good. Service is always kind and courteous. The food is fresh and well presented. I have enjoyed the sushi, tempura, noodle dishes and teas. I have not been a big fan of the coconut soup. This place was a really pleasant surprise! The menu is extensive. Ther service was ON POINT! (They have a little robot that expos meals to the table on busy nights because staffing has been tough but it wasn't running when we were there.) The bubble teas were awesome! We got two dishes one was a curry and the other a noodle dish and the portions were great for the price! The thing that blew our minds though... we were lucky enough to catch the last day of their rolled ice cream truck outside and mannnnn was it fantastic. We got a cookies and cream ice cream and a banana Nutella ice cream and split them both and our eyes were rolling into the back of our heads with each bite in delight on a hot summer day! I really hope they continue this truck because oh boy was it a treat! (And the girl running it was just 16 years old, polite as heck and smiling the whole dang time!) She prepared the ice cream right in front of us using her tools to break up the ingredients into tiny pieces and then spread them with fresh cream into a thin layer that she rolled as it froze. Wow, I see all the good reviews and wonder if it was just an off night. The dining room had about five tables occupied when we arrived, and the waiter was friendly, but the more customers who arrived - a few more sit down diners and a bunch of take outs - the more overwhelmed the staff became. It got hectic, chaotic, and the service was frenzied and then slowed to a crawl. For some reason, as it became busier our waiter disappeared and that left one person to handle all the tables, the take out and the register. It was cacophony. So I see good reviews of the food and wish I had something good to say. The complimentary spring soup was light and fresh. Then came my crab rangoons (imitation crab). Pretty tasteless, but crisp and not greasy. But then my entree arrived. First of all, my entree came a good 7 minutes or so before my dining companion's. No explanation. But mine took a long time, so maybe they didn't want to prolong it further by bringing both at once. It was definitely not worth the wait. I ordered crispy pad Thai. Usually that means that the rice noodles are pan fried instead of steamed. Instead what I received was a plate heaped with deep fried bean threads with peanut sauce. A few anemic shreds of chicken, a couple of bean sprouts (hide and seek), a barely visible egg and some ground peanuts completed the dish. No veggies at all. It was very heavy, oily and had and an overwhelming peanut butter taste. No other taste profile. I poked around for the meat and sprouts and left the rest, feeling hungry but bloated from the oil. I just moved to the area and was excited to have an Asian restaurant nearby. But I've had my last meal at this place, unfortunately. read more

Technically good, but stingy with the main ingredients .... beef stir fry maybe a table spoon of shaved beef, heavy on clunky veggies 4 shell-on med shrimp in pad Thai... no scallions , absent lime, scarce sprouts. crab Rangoon .. dubious if there was any real crab.... so, not crab Rangoon at all...just a teaspoon of sweetened cream cheese in a pinched deep fried wonton. Pot stickers not seasoned ... relied on dipping sauce for flavor. Plus impudent child behind the counter ... saw I had crossed out steamed dumplings for pot stickers "you don't want both? That sucks." No correction from Mom. This Second disappointing take-out was my last. read more

The bulgogi tastes exactly like the bulgogi my nana makes, so much so that it brought me to tears in the restaurant. The waiters and waitresses are lovely people. Just enjoyed my first meal from here. I walked into order take out and explained that I'm on a limited diet due to surgery. They suggested a perfect dishes for me and took out veggies that I can't eat yet. I had chicken with veggies and pineapple with cashew....amazing. I hadn't been to the Asian Cafe in a few years. I won't return. Our order to go was Pad see ew chicken and crispy pad Thai shrimp and spring rolls. The pad see ew was tasteless and looked like it had been sitting for hours. The crispy pad Thai was undoubtedly crispy, so crispy it was crunchy, lumped together, and tasted old. The spring rolls tasted like they were microwaved. I was so hungry I forced a small portion of crispy pad Thai and a couple of spring rolls. This has to be the worst Pad Thai and Friend Spring rolls I've ever had. The spring rolls have cabbage, and that's it. The Pad Thai -- Amy's frozen Pad Thai is better than this. They use a lot of rice noodles which they drown in a pinkish sweet sauce that may have a little tamarind in it, but the noodles are drowned, as if they are pad see ew. They put 6 pieces of shrimp on it, and maybe a 1/3 cup of bean sprouts which were cooked so they were soft. As this is Maine, where Asian cuisine is exotic, they drum up business by being pan asian. The table next to me had Pork in Green Curry, which looked good. But the Pad Thai? Amy's frozen dinner Pad Thai is better. read more

I'd give 1 star to this restaurant but bc the staff was welcoming and friendly that I'm giving them an extra star. The general tso chicken was drowning in sauce and the luncheon combination came with so many deep fried small dishes that overall the meal felt so unhealthy and gross. Ok-dol bibimbap (first of all, it should be called GOP-dol, not ok-dol) didn't have much veggies which it's suppose to have. You just get a lot of rice, fried egg, and zucchini chunks with go-chu-jang sauce. My reco for this place would be to pick one cuisine and do it right. read more

The staff are all super friendly and every time I come here the dining experience is pleasant, even when they're packed. Only once have I gotten something that was so-so (over-cooked squid ordered when they were busy) but otherwise the food has always been hot, fresh, and delicious. I drive out to Winslow JUST for their veggie soup when I'm sick (and yes, you can order a large size of it!). This is arguably the best Thai restaurant around. read more

My wife an I have eaten at this restaurant since it opened it was a weekly stop for a while. Original owners were fantastic people and the food was really good up until the last few months before the sale. We were ready to write it off due to the down turn in food quality. We did not know it was being sold. We came back after the sale and actually found the food was better than ever. Most recently we brought a couple with us that one had never had Thai food and the other had never been to AC. They both loved it, some comments included best fried Rangoon he had ever had, and the entrees were delicious. My meal was excellent as always and my wife who always orders Drunken noodle at every Thai place we visit always compares it to her favorite at AC. Couple of tips the spicey ratings are a bit milder than typical Thai. Also don't trust the owner when she says it's just a little hot! :) read more

I am sorry to say that this place has gone down hill since being sold a while back. You cannot depend on them to get your order straight. A month ago on my way home from work I called in an order for our Friday night dinner. Luckily I looked in the (stapled shut) bag before driving the 8+ miles home and discovered they had left out part of the order. Back I went into the restaurant to stand for fifteen minutes in the tiny waiting space by the front door while they prepared it. Today, after an exhausting day, I again called in an order from work to pick up on the way home. This time I didn't bother to tear open the bag to check it. My mistake. When I got home I found the "vegetarian" entree I had ordered was filled with chicken. Frustrated I gave them a call. I got an apology and an offer to back the cost of that entree off my credit card which I accepted. But, I was shocked that after I told them I now had nothing for dinner they didn't offer to drive me the correct meal out. Don't you think that a place that offers free delivery would do so? Well, screw up the order once and I figure it's an honest mistake. Screw it up two times in a row? That is just shoddy business. We won't be ordering from them again. read more

Anyone from the area can point you in the direction and give you food recommendations, this place is a local favorite. The food is amazing! It's a family run restaurant, they are so friendly and welcoming and the food is ALWAYS above par. Very fresh ingredients! I'm a huge fan of special ordering and they will definitely tailor the order to your request. Definitely an add for the MUST DO list! Fantastic Asian place. The owner served us and was very pleasant and interested. The food was cooked perfectly. **The menu is extensive, gorgeously designed, easy to understand, and sparkling clean--blew me away.** (I've only had bad experiences with menus at Asian restaurants.) We were the only the ones there and arrived at 8:40. Stayed till 9:15, fifteen minutes after close, and the owner was still offering to get us more food. Excellent service.
