Tao Too is located in a busy strip center in Germantown with limited parking. Be prepared to fight for a spot in the lot if you visit during peak hours. I brought my mother here last week for lunch. Upon first walking in I was surprised at how small the restaurant was on the inside. There are maybe ten tables and most of them were occupied when we arrived even though it was 1pm in the afternoon. We were seated by a very nice gentleman who quickly brought menus and took our drink order. The majority of the menu is a collection of popular Chinese dishes but they also offer a few things that you might find at a Thai or Vietnamese restaurant. Neither of us were very hungry so we decided to order four appetizers to share. We picked the Crab Wontons, Vegetable Spring Rolls, Coconut Prawns, and Chicken Satay. The Coconut Prawns came out first. They were hot and crispy and served with a sweet sauce for dipping. Next, the spring rolls arrived served with the very same sauce for dipping. Then came the Crab Wontons and the Chicken Satay. The sauce served with the wontons was also sweet but different than the other sauce. I thought I tasted mango and ginger which made it pretty enjoyable. The Chicken Satay looked better than it tasted. The meat was a little dry but the peanut sauce was decent. All in all our visit was not a bad experience. Not particularly exciting or remarkable, but not bad either. I may update this review once I have the chance to try one of their entrees but for now it's A-OK. read more

I love this place. After going here on a whim three years ago, I must say that this is my favorite Asian restaurant. I always order the Tom Yum soup when I come here, as I like to eat here when it's cold outside. Not only is the soup warning to a cold body, it's absolutely delicious with the right amount of heat for me. Asian Eatery is an any time restaurant for me; I've celebrated two anniversaries with my fiancé here, and plan on going back for my birthday. The service here is nice. I've never had a problem with them getting my food wrong, whether I've eaten in the restaurant or gotten take out. The restaurant is clean for the most part. A lot of noodles. Very little calamari on an appetizer plate that costs 6.99. The food is good but they truly skimp on how much calamari they serve for the price! Very disappointing. Also, we were the only ones in the restaurant bc we had to be somewhere so we arrived pretty close to opening but it took 18 minutes for us to get the appetizer that we ordered immediately when we sat down! That's sad. One of the main dishes that arrived, the Pannang Thai Chicken, was also pretty sparse but the other one, the Sesame Ck, was an ample portion. A coworker recommended Asian Eatery one afternoon when I mentioned that I didn't have a go-to Chinese restaurant in the area. She recommended the mango chicken, but I haven't tried it yet. I usually order the General Tso's chicken, but today I ordered the Singapore Noodles and they were amazing. I wasn't really expecting the curry flavor to be as strong as it was, but I loved it. I know I came on Christmas day and I know that this place was packed to the gills with a bare bones crew. I will not be reviewing the service due to this (even though I believe any place open on Christmas day should be prepared for a storm of people.) The chef fried rice and the chicken egg rolls were so bland that I couldn't believe all the ingredients were present. If you have onion and meat in a dish, you expect it to have some sort of flavor. I might as well have eaten cardboard. I also ordered steamed dumplings which never came and when asked if they were on the bill (because we had to leave and couldn't wait) the server said they must have been given to another table. My first time eating here. Tried to order a cup of one of their "big bowl" of soup menu. Was given some twisted explanation of why they couldn't do a cup of the soup and that I would need to get the big bowl. For one person! I mean really??! You can't put the soup in a cup instead of a bowl?! I've never heard of that before. Seems like they're just not interested in doing something as trivial as that for their customers. Their take it or leave it attitude left a bad taste in my mouth. For poor customer service, I won't return here again. We asked for a booth and they brought us to the dark and dirty side of the restaurant where two other African American families were sitting. They were moving very slow on the dark and nasty side of the restaurant but on the bright clean side (where the white people were sitting) they were moving very fast and there food looked good and hot and the "dark side" of the restaurant, the food was cold, and disgusting. I enjoy coming here for lunch. Amazingly, I may have never bothered giving it a try if it weren't for the power being out at another restaurant next door! As my second visit here, I once again ordered the General Tso Chicken. I liked the taste, and I feel that as a lunch special, you get a good amount. You also get a soup. I got the Egg Drop soup. It was tasty. Service is excellent. The atmosphere is good. For lunchtime, you may have to park far from the front door. Around noon the parking lot can get pretty full. Honestly it was just OK. I asked the server for her suggestion of the lunch menu and she said the Yellow curry, so that's what I went with. It came with white rice and an egg roll. The curry had a lot of onions and potatoes that were still hard, and the sauce did not have any sweetness to it. I dumped a lot of the duck sauce and some salt in to make it taste better. I asked if they had a dessert menu, the answer was no. I was disappointed. I wanted another drink and some more water, but the server disappeared and didn't come back for a while. Next thing I know, they were all sitting at a table in the back eating lunch. No wonder nobody came back. Good points: I ordered a Thai Tea, that was good. The lunch specials were a decent price (however quite limited). I brought my laptop because I needed to work, and when I asked if they had internet, they gave me the code so I could use the wireless. Other people like this place, so I gave it a 3 instead of a 2 - hey, maybe I just ordered the wrong thing or went on an off day.
