    Stuffed Tofu

I happened to be in the area for lunch. I've been wanting to go here for several years but hadn't had the chance yet, and it did not disappoint. I had two large dim sum items and one medium. The highlight was the shrimp and chive dumplings, but the salted egg buns and stuffed tofu were also great. I've had lots of dim sum across the US, and this is up there with any place I've been in NYC or SF. Also great portions and prices, a clean and nice looking interior, and quick friendly service. Give it a try!

Update 12/28/2025 Went there with family in town on a Sunday afternoon. Place was quite busy as expected on a Sunday afternoon and especially on a holiday weekend. There was about 16 of us so we were seated in the "karaoke" room which has a gigantic lazy Susan that self rotates. Food overall was good as typical. Although the "wu kwok" (taro root fried ball" did not taste freshly made but more like from the freezer. The waitress was very good. The wait for the table was over 30 minutes as they had to get the room ready although it was not previously used that day.

Didn't have the best experience here. As they come around with the carts, the staff kept pushing our party to try items. By the time we checked out, several items we left on my ticket despite me not eating them. They were slightly resistant to remove and correct this. Food 3/5. I absolutely loved the refresher. One of the best I've had in the city Service 3/5

This dim sum spot was an interesting experience, but not one I'd rush back to. Be prepared -- they charge for everything, which wasn't clearly explained upfront and made the meal more confusing than enjoyable. The service setup was also hard to follow. Multiple servers came around offering appetizers, but getting an actual dedicated server to check on us or explain the menu took a long time. That lack of communication made ordering feel frustrating, especially for first-time diners. The food itself was pretty baseline nothing standout, but I will say it was hot and fresh, which is always a plus. Overall, it wasn't terrible, but between the confusing service flow, slow attention, and pricing structure, the experience didn't quite hit the mark. Some clearer explanations and more attentive service would go a long way.

Went to dinner Sunday, August 17th and our meal was super tasty. I enjoy supporting this restaurant as the food is consistent and delish! The service has always been cordial and efficient. The restaurant has been remodeled some since they placed fancy partitions to make some booths. The restaurant is decorated with Asian flair. We had stir fry cauliflower dish that was simple and flavorful. The beef flat noodles were very good with tender beef and perfect noodles. The Peking style pork was velvety and not too sweet. The walnut shrimp needed a few more walnuts but the shrimp and sauce were quite fabulous. We also ordered a tofu dish that was new to us. It had fried tofu, bok choy and other veggies. The gravy was light and completed the dish. Our first noodle dish was like a simple egg noodle or maybe it was some type of rice noodle. It was okay. We ordered some cheung fun, har gow, and siu mai. All great dim sum dishes. I am sure we will return as the food is awesome.

Great menu, fresh ingredients and true Chinese food (don't worry, they have your Americanized Chinese faves too). We started off with Sizzling Chicken and added some of my Dim Sum faves (Soup dumplings, BBQ Pork buns, Siu Mai). Added a Chinese broccoli and then a little dessert (sesame ball). The place gets a bit crowded after 6, but overall quick and helpful service. If you've never tried dim sum, this is a good spot to start.

Amazing rice noodle roll dish with a dash of chili crunch oil and maybe a little soy sauce.

Lord have mercy. I have been to this place dozens of times, and it stands alone in Memphis for audaciously China-endemic fare , folks and fun. Try Sundays 1:00 pm and the large restaurant is working alive with activity and food transactions as carts are wheeled around like a 5,000 square foot first class aircraft. Inside those carts reside an amazingly diverse array of items available for your purchase rendering your table's order sheet replete with stamps for the multitude of offerings you've sampled. When you throw in the proverbial towel and are ready to declare armistice there's no doubt there will be return.

Open on Xmas day. At 10 am which is An hour earlier than normal. And it was packed inside. Dim sum was pretty good. Cars outside said captain king. And I think for the area he's probably right. They are king. Even say a whole roasted pig there. They got boba too

BEST DUMPLINGS! I love this place and look for any excuse to visit. It's also fun to visit the local bookstore novel afterward and get a book! Or head to Penzeys. There's just a lot of stuff around here so I like to make a day of it and visit this place and a few other places. I hear they have karaoke in the back so I def wanna check that out sometime! I LOVE the dumplings here. They are so tasty and I want to try every dumpling they have. I've never heard of Tong Cho Shrimp but it was delicious. I also loved the chicken noodles. It sounded super basic but it tasted super delicious. I'd definitely try some more noodle dishes next time. The duck wasn't really that tasty. We ended up with a lot of bones in the meat part and I wasn't really that fond of the fried skin. I also wasn't fond of the Lobster Fried Rice but that's a personal preference- I don't like having to fight for my food. So both dishes required me to fight to get the meat either off the bone or out of the shell, which is why I didn't like either of them. No surprise that I loved the Broccoli and Beef as it is a childhood favorite and I seem to like it everywhere. However, the Chicken Broccoli we tried had a tasty flavor that worked really well with the chicken but for some reason didn't work as great with the broccoli for me. On another visit a lady came around with appetizers on a cart for people to grab. My friend got sesame balls and I got some sort of dumplings. The receipt said they were fried shrimp balls. They are my new favorite and I had to hold myself back from ordering more. The Kung Pao Chicken was ok but better with the chili oil they brought to the table.I think the one downside to this place is that they tend to put the entire table on one ticket. They can split it at the end but it does make things more complicated. I'll have to ask next time if it has to be on the same ticket at first or not. Another way around this is for everyone to just bring cash. To Try: All dumplings all noodle dishes Moo Goo Gai Pan Xianen Rice Noodles Fried Dumpling Loved: - Beef and Broccoli - Dumplings: Cilantro - Dumplings: Fried Shrimp Balls (NEW FAV) - Dumplings: Shrimp Haw Gow - Noodles: Beef with Rice Noodle (FAAAV!) - Noodles: Chicken with Pan Fried Noodles - Tong Cho Shrimp Liked: - Dumplings: Soup - Noodles: Stir Fried with Soy Sauce - Sesame Chicken - Soup: Egg Drop Ok: - Appetizer: Baked BBQ Pork Buns - Braised Pork with Preserved Vegetables - Bun: Pork - Chicken Broccoli - Chicken over Chinese Greens (bok choy) - Fish: Steamed Whole Cod - Kung Pao Chicken Disliked: - Appetizer: Sesame Balls - Appetizer: Spring Rolls - Fried Rice: Sticky Rice with Lobster - Noodles: Chicken Pan Fried - Peking Duck

We arrived as they opened at 11am and were able to get seated quickly. Their dim sum has carts that come to the table as opposed to no carts and ordering a la carte. Very simple decor and also had screens available for those who want to watch games. The dim sum did not disappoint. The shui mai was very good as were some of the fried items. The egg tart had an incredibly flaky crust. I understand why relatives who are locals like to frequent this location regularly.

Great for birthday parties!! They have a huge round table in their King Room that can comfortably fit 16 people. Food was delicious. We had an assortment of authentic Chinese food. Would highly recommend to all.

This location is a large building with lots of seating options. I had to try Central as it keeps winning awards and is consistently mentioned as the top BBQ place in the Memphis area. Some of their awards were displayed at the entrance and on the walls. Lots of history. My wife ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich and had the slaw on the side so I could have it (she's not a slaw fan). I had the small order of ribs with 1/2 dry and 1/2 wet with sides of BBQ Beans and Mac n Cheese. I tried the pulled pork and it was tender and delicious. My ribs were pretty good with my favorite part being the wet ribs. The dry part was overcooked and really dry and chewy. This was a bit of a disappointment. The BBQ beans were flavorful but a bit mushy. The Mac n cheese also mushy a bit but tasted better than it looked. I love great BBQ so I like Central BBQ but may have caught them on a bad day. Oh, they were out of a lot of T Shirt options/size I wanted too. Darn. I wanted to buy one. I would return and try the brisket, pulled pork or poultry items next time.

There was a time when Central barbecue was the only place I would eat barbecue in Memphis. But food…read moreand service has ruined that. I visited the downtown location on 5/24/26 at 6:15 PM. I ordered wings and two dry slabs of ribs. When my family and I finally decided to eat the ribs on Monday, they were disgusting. They had seasoning caked all on them, and they were overly salty. We wiped off the caked-on seasoning and tried to eat around the saltiness. I was praying the 2nd slab was not the same. When I opened them on 5/27 to see, they were the same. I was trying to avoid calling because I just didn't feel like being bothered. But I called. I left a message for the manager to return my call that morning because "he is in the middle of an interview." So I called back that afternoon and was transferred to Ethan. I explained the situation to him. As I was speaking, he kept making the noise un-huh. So, I stopped talking and asked him what it meant aside from it just being rude as hell. He went on to explain that they missed a step and did not rub in the seasoning and shake it off. I don't care. It's an internal quality issue that should be handled with the prep and cook staff. Not me. He asked if I had my receipt and, in a tone that suggested he was doing me a favor, advised me that he would replace the slab. No apologies for the inconvenience or anything.   After my long workday, I went all the way downtown to get the slab replaced. In person, Ethan is just as rude. I asked if he was going to replace both slabs. He could clearly see the quality was trash. He said no and that he would only replace one. Then went on to offer me sides and a slice of cake. No, thank you. I can afford sides and cake just like I did those trash slabs of ribs. Those slabs of ribs cost $62.40 before taxes. With taxes probably being another 5 or 6 dollars. Your mistakes and poor quality should not cost me. He had a young lady bring the replacement slab back out to me. She didn't say thank you or anything. One thing I know is that a white man or woman patronizing your business would not have been treated this way. As a result, moving forward I will spend my Black woman dollars elsewhere on barbeque and smoked chicken wings. Also, I removed you all from my company's approved catering list where we spend a nice amount with you all yearly. Tell Ethan, thanks for helping me see the light and not spend money where I'm not respected and where my customer experience isn't valued.

I wasn't really a fan of the mac and cheese, as it leaned way too heavily on the processed cheese flavor and ended up overly cheesy in a not-so-great way. The texture and taste reminded me more of melted processed cheese than a rich, homemade mac and cheese.
