Ordered here for dinner, some of the dishes we got were shrimp fried rice, lobster fried rice, fried scallops, and triple delight. Everything tasted ok, the one thing that got me mad was the lobster fried rice, they used imitation crab meat which isn't even real lobster. read more

Few places are open past 8 on the island, and we needed a late-ish dinner. Enter Asian Express. This is primarily a carry out destination, but we didn't know that, so we dined in. You order at the counter, and they bring out the food to you. It seems they used to have more tables pre-covid, but there are still a few. The General Tso Tofu was delicious! I mean, I've had my fair share of versions, and this I would absolutely eat again. Even the lo mein was especially good. My husband ordered the coconut chicken. He's not a shrimp fan, so he was excited to try this dish with chicken. While he said it was interesting and a nice change up, it wouldn't be on his list again. It's super sweet. Wow it was delicious; the beef was really tender and marrenated to a delicious mouth watering flavor and the fried rice superb moisture, texture and tast. Most definitely a rating 5. Ordered a combo meal. The receipt has an automatic 'tip line'. I left. $1 tip because all the lady did was hand me my order in a bag. I paid close to $13 for that combo with an egg roll. The egg roll had nothing in it but cabbage! I asked for chili oil thinking it was free (all other Chinese places has them free). They told me it will cost $1. I refused and did not buy the chili oil. Disappointed. Food was average or below - my daughter said the sushi she had from a grocery chain before was better than this. The skewers were pretty good. We ordered the deluxe sushi - 10 pcs California roll; which should have came with Miso soup. I called my husband, a bit too late, to tell him to make sure they hadn't forgotten the soup. I did this since I read a review that this had happened to someone else. Well, they had, so he turned back. They told him they no longer serve miso with that. He asked if he could get a substitution, and they told him no. This is unethical and illegal, as what he paid for clearly stated to include the soup. Okay so not sure what we were expecting but what we got was awful. 1 star because the fried rice was not bad and I have to give something. We asked if they could sub tofu for the chicken and they said yes but it was practically inedible. The tofu was fried so long it was impossible to bite into and chew. After so much other amazing food on the island this was a huge letdown but a lesson learned. Perhaps they do meat well but don't recommend for anyone else. read more

I really don't understand why this place doesn't get better reviews. It's not 5 star food but it's good. There are things I've had I wasn't so fond of (not a fan of their dumplings and I do love dumplings) but they have really good wonton soup which is a comfort food for me. The entrees I've had have all been pretty good. Last night I had General Tsos shrimp. Will definitely get it again. I've never had their sushi but my neighbors have and like it. I also like that Yelp gives us a health score based on their most recent health dept survey and they get 100%!! I would encourage you to give it a try. read more

Had lot of variety but can rack up the price quickly. We had some sweet and sour chicken which was amazing and the rice you get with the combination was so good. The sushi was either really good or just meh. We did really enjoy the spring rolls and egg rolls. Cooked to be super crispy and still steamed in the middle. This food was AMAZING! My friend and I were starving from a day on the beautiful beach. We knew we wanted something delicious and quick so we found the best of both worlds. As soon as we came in we were happily greeted by a very friendly man who accommodated our every needs. The service was very quick and efficient. Nice place for takeout. They actually made my Hunan Beef spicy. Most places just say it's spicy. Very quick service and super accommodating as my wife wanted the shrimp with snow peas turned into the special and they had no problem substituting for her. Great sushi! Fresh and yummy!!! I particularly love the Miami Heat and the tuna with cuke & avocado if you like your sushi raw. My husband loves their California Roll, their egg rolls & orange chicken also! Service is quick and polite and we particularly appreciate them being open 6 days a week throughout the year on Chincoteague as year rounders ourselves. I have really been into sushi lately and really wanted some while on Vacation in Chincoteague. So I figured - let's do this - especially because you can't go wrong getting seafood on an island (Yeah I know that not all fish are local). First shady note: As a rule of thumb I don't trust people who finish preparing your food by the cash register. After accepting our card for payment, the same person put the finishing touches on our food. (She never touched the food but still....) Second shady note: After getting home, I noticed that the color of the fish was off. (I'm not expecting the highest grade cuts - but come on - Tuna is not pink and salmon is not light orange. Third Shady note: I tried the food anyway because the smell was fine. You can tell if fish goes bad by the smell. I ordered a Maki Salmon Roll, Maki, Tuna roll, and Maki, Yellowtail. then Two butterfly rolls. The Maki rolls are the most simple rolls to make, and it was horrible. The rice was unevenly cooked (Some grains were hard) and the flavor was off. I didn't even bother to contact them and ask for anything. They can keep this note I'm leaving as a tip. I am happy with my local sushi places. I wish I took a picture so I could show you what I was dealing with.... but my stomach was turning so I just dumped it, and took a loss. I place my order late at night on a Friday, but that shouldn't make a difference. If you are a business - take pride in what you produce. Go ahead and eat their food - AT YOUR OWN RISK! read more

Decent, not amazing. I am not planning on a return trip there. The options are very limited, though they do offer both Chinese and Japanese options. The fried gyoza were okay, not really memorable. The beef lo mein didn't have enough sauce on it, so it wasn't very flavorful. The sweet and sour chicken was fine, but I don't know how you could possible mess that up. There was no soy sauce on the tables so we had to go ask for more packets since they didn't give you a lot, even for a sushi entree. Prices were on the low end, and food came out quickly, which was good. However, our table received our orders across a long period of time which was inconvenient. Nothing annoys me more than inaccurate, misleading hours and subsequent waste of time and energy. We spent a while planning what we would order, where we'd eat it, and what we would do while we waited for the food. Our whole evening centered around ordering fro mm this particular restaurant. When we called to place our order at 4pm (hours posted everywhere, including on their own front door, start at 11), the phone just rang and rang. We drove several miles, hoping to place our order in person, and the place was locked up. No notes on the door or anything. What a waste... and bad business etiquette. Americanized Chinese food is almost like, well, comfort food for me. I love to get some takeout Chinese on hot summer days. We have a Vietnamese restaraunts here on the island, and I like it, I'm just one of those sad folks to whom cilantro tastes like soap....so my choices are limited there. Asian Express is located on the main road to the beach, and I made my first visit this afternoon, high 80s here. Located in a now defunct Dairy Queen, they have done a nice job with the interior, very clean and bright inside, though small. The "sushi bar" is miniscule and half hidden behind a giant Coke Machine, but I have heard a couple good things about the sushi. Stuck to basics this time, ordering shrimp with broccoli and shrimp fried rice. Left my order and went to the hardware store across the street for ten minutes or so, when I returned I still had to wait about ten minutes.....so much for the "express" part. They were pretty busy, which is a good sign. On arrival at home, I found the food to be pretty darn good! Clearly freshly cooked shrimp, crisp but tender broccoli, bamboo shoots, carrots in a zesty brown sauce. The shrimp fried rice was ok, I really don't care for peas and carrots, preferring some bean sprouts instead, but that's getting harder to find around here anyway. All in all, a great place for a quick Chinese meal if you are in the mood and here on Chincoteague. read more

Chinese food is in my blood, I'm always a sucker to try new mom and pop places. I remember the old Chinese place, it wasn't good either. When I saw this place, I figured it can't be worse than the old place. To be honest, it wasn't. It was just the same. The food here is very Americanized. We got some combo lo mein and some Kung Pao. I would have ordered my hot and sour soup, but they only sold in a large size, very strange. Anyhow, the Kung Pao Chicken didn't not have any of the typical Kung Pao flavor, honestly it just tasted like oil. The lo mein was decent, but nothing fancy. Maybe next time we are on the island, things will be different. I'd be willing to try something else, as people just have off days. But based on the flavor, this might Not be the case. read more

I had one of the best experiences of my life at this Chinese restaurant as I was fishing with my friends at night and the restaurant was about to close but the amazing people at this wonderful restaurant cooked up a wonderful three different meals for us at the last minute and even extended the closing session for us. The food was amazing and everything was fresh and hot for us.I'm not sure why there were so many one star ratings because this restaurant was a 10 out of 10 and I would 100% go out of here again when I visit chincoteague again. read more
