Totally surprised to find this hidden gem after living in Waxhaw for more than 11 years! It's sometimes hard to find good Chinese food but this place is great. I ordered hibachi shrimp (minus mushrooms). I love that their food is somewhat "plain". The salad was simply lettuce, carrots, cucumbers and really good ginger dressing. I ate it before I thought to take a picture. The hibachi shrimp was filled with a decent amount of huge shrimp. The fried rice was also "plain" like I love it! Hubby had the white chicken (comparable to general tso) and our son had chicken fried rice. Everyone really enjoyed their meals and the customer service was top notch. We have found our new spot for great Chinese food! read more

I found a rubber band mixed into my takeout, and the restaurant's response was to offer me a $5 credit for a meal I had to throw away. Their customer service was just as disappointing as the food. There were dismissive, unhelpful, and unwilling to take responsibility for a serious mistake. If this is how they handle food safety and treat their customers, I won't be returning after being a loyal customer for 10 years. read more

Food isn't good... we had the egg rolls, spring rolls, and beef broccoli. It was so bad we threw it out... paid $30... not worth it.

Have ordered take-out here 5-6 times, each time trying new dishes hoping for a favorite. Good: egg drop soup and kung pao chicken. Not so good: everything else we've tried. 1. Nothing that says "spicy" is spicy, like at all. Not a bit. 2. Except for the kung pao other chicken dishes all tasted exactly the same regardless of their menu description. The Moo goo gai pan chicken was decent in so much as a good ratio of chicken to vegetables, and pretty much what you'd expect, something good if you're sick and want something VERY plain. 3. Egg rolls and other apps are obviously frozen, 90% cabbage, no flavor. 4. DanDan noodles - I don't know WHAT this dish was supposed to be but we had a bite and threw the rest away. Just no. Overall not great - why on earth they don't actually put any spice/heat to the dishes that are marked "spicy". At least give people the option of choosing a spice level. And maybe cut you menu down by at least half - seeing as how most of the dishes taste the same anyway you'd be better off with a much smaller menu of decent items than 50 that are meh. read more

The portions were good but we had 8 people have meals and only 1 of us were happy with the flavor and quality of food. All of us that had fried rice were disappointed how undercooked and flavorless it was. Al dente rice isn't something you want in Chinese food. The sweet and sour chicken had weird prices that pieces that were both hard and soggy inside. The pepper steak had a very small amount of actual meat and the picture shows how much onions and peppers were there even though the comments requested no onion. read more

This was my first time here and unfortunately, I was disappointed. The basil chicken had no flavor and the chicken was extremely dry (tasted old or maybe it was frozen. Definitely not fresh). The rice tasted old and stale. The egg-roll was good but small. The wonton soup was mostly broth. It only had a few wontons, and two scallions floating at the top. I stopped by Asian Grill after meeting with my tax preparer (right before the tax deadline). I needed food for my family as I had no plans to cook that day. I ordered food for every member of my family. My mother-in-law ate her food without telling me not to buy her that food again, so I take it as a good sign. The facility does not offer dining in for lunch. Lunch is takeaway only. Tables are placed a few feet from the entrance to keep patrons from going inside. The separation reminds me of Covid-19 precautions. My food was good. No one made any negative statements towards the food, so I assume the food was well received. The young lady brought the food to my car so that was extremely helpful and kind. read more

There are a couple of Asian restaurants in Waxhaw, one of them is horrible and the other is Asian Grill. We have learned time and time again that Asian Grill is consistent in food quality, time to prepare food and a good value overall. Regardless of what we order, the food always comes out the way we expect. I believe the dining room has been closed due to Covid-19 so all orders are to go. My favorite go to is the Sa Cha Chicken and the Sesame Chicken. read more

I shouldn't have worn jeans because I absolutely DEVOURED it. Call me a fat ass but I ate every last bite. Had me SCRAPING the plate clean of the sauce. Absolutely loved it and WILL be back. Decided to order through DoorDash and got the crab Rangoons, chicken on a stick, pepper chicken with fried rice and beng beng chicken. The crab rangoon wrappers are kinda thick so they get a little chewy otherwise the filling is good. The chicken on the stick is good but not my fav, my husband loved it. Beng Beng chicken was kinda weird since it wasn't what we were expecting from the description. It wasn't very strong flavored or spicy, it was like a milder version of sweet and sour but more sweet than anything. The black pepper chicken was amazing with lots of pepper and crispy chicken pieces. The fried rice was so perfectly cooked with every grain holding its texture and the flavor was ok but just needed some duck and soy or what you order mixed with. Will be ordering from here again but think we'll try the general chicken next time and see if it's actually spicy. read more

Food was pretty bland and seemed overpriced. I picked up my food so can't really say much about service. I don't tip when I call an order in and walk inside to pickup my food. If restaurants overprice food don't expect me to help pay your wait staff. I most likely will skip this restaurant when I order. read more

I got noodles and there was werid white substances in my noodles, I'm not quite sure what it was, my husbands rice had long black hair in the bottom of the box and looked like rat poop under the tables and burried into the chairs, our waitress Pam took 30 minutes to get are drinks to us and was extremely rude, she screamed at my husband for asking for a refund due to the situation with the food, Never going back!!!!!!!!!! read more

Sorry to say, but we were sorely disappointed with our takeout order last night. We had heard good recommendations from some neighbors and we know that personal tastes vary, but we honored the quarantine and make a take away order for dinner. Egg rolls, won ton soup, chili shrimp, sauteed green beans and Mongolian beef. Very nice and clearly speaking young ladies were manning the telephones and were careful to get our orders completely correct. They were also very courteous and friendly at pick-up time. Egg rolls were very good. Firm and with shrimp. Wrapping was the thin won ton wrapper, so those tend to be greasy, and these were, but flavor was just fine. We dipped in chili oil and our own mustard. Asian Grill gives you those little package of awful mustard that are more vinegar than mustard, so we put some Coleman's powdered mustard in a container, added water to make a paste and there we were. We advise that you do this for your meals. The won ton soup was also excellent. It was lightly colored broth and had a mild flavor. The won tons were solidly good. Only sign of Cheap Charlie coming in was that there were only 5 won tons in our large order. The string beans were lightly fried and lightly cooked, as they should be, and were very mildly flavored. In fact there was hardly any flavor at all. Disappointing. The chili shrimp were horrible. Cheap Charlie reined. A good number of shrimp (8) were arrayed on top of the vegetables. But they were FRIED. Just what we needed: more oil. The breading was unnecessary. The vegetables were awful. Broccoli, diced carrot, diced onion and Green Peas. Ugh. It was like mush and tasted like thawed frozen veggies. There was also a sweet taste that I could not figure out, thinking it might have been pineapple, but I dug around and did not find any sweet thing. This dish is not recommended at all. The Mongolian beef was OK, but Cheap Charlie really loaded the cheap yellow onions at the expense of the scallions/green onions. Had a heavy taste and was oily. We decided that our recommenders lacked taste, or at least their taste was far different that ours and that we would not return to Asian Grill. And we do not recommend it. Go to Ming Fu or Lam's if you want decent, flavorful Chinese cooking. read more

I dined in with a friend for dinner and was disappointed that a lot of things were out of stock. I wasn't even able to get lemon for my pad Thai because lemons were out of stock. The saving grace was that the pad Thai was good. I liked that chicken and shrimp are included and the portion was good. Also, staff was very apologetic and kind regarding things being out of stock. The second time I ordered for Togo the pad Thai was not like my previous experience. My fiancé is not a picky eater and told me told me not to order again because it had no flavor. I was disappointed as I wanted him to try the pad Thai I had the first time. I am not sure if I will be back. I will update my review if I do go back a third time. read more

This is by far our favorite Asian restaurant locally. Everything we have ordered has been very tasty and not too salty. Mongolian Beef is definitely a favorite. The egg rolls aren't super greasy like most Asian restaurants. The portion sizes and prices are great, considering the cost of eating out nowadays. I was in the area for a few hours and I had to give this restaurant a try after finding it nearby on Yelp. I ordered the Spicy Mei Fun with shrimp and chicken. My order was ready when I arrived. The dish was full of shrimp and chicken, however, there was no spice. I don't know if they forgot it but I was expecting a nice spicy sauce to bite my lips.
