The Sashimi is always fresh and I've never had a bad bite of fish--unlike other restaurants in town--and the rolls are always consistent from one visit to the next--again, unlike most other restaurants. The ambience and decor are not up to date and needs some work but in this case the best places are the hidden gems that place the focus on the food rather than just having a pretty looking decor. At this point, we're definitely regulars. In all those visits, we've never had a bad meal or poor service....not once.....not ever. That kind of consistency is incredibly rare and difficult to maintain. The fusion dishes are some of the most thoughtfully crafted combinations you'll find, while the more traditional offerings (looking at you Unagi) take me back to my younger days bumming around Japan. The attention to detail, skill, and dedication behind everything they do feels authentically Japanese in its execution and hospitality. It's obvious they hold themselves to exceptionally high standards, and that commitment is reflected in every aspect of the restaurant. When I'm spending money on a meal, I want to know exactly what kind of experience I'm going to get and feel confident that I'll enjoy it. We did have a delay with one of our dishes (waited over 30 minutes), but the manager noticed the issue right away, took responsibility, and handled it really well. They even offered us complimentary spring rolls, which I really appreciated. That kind of attentiveness and care makes a big difference. The food was solid and enjoyable--of course, you can't compare it to bigger cities, but for Springfield, this is definitely a great find. They also have a robot that helps deliver food, which was such a fun and unique touch. I'm here for work, traveling from out of state, and we actually ended up coming back four days in a row--which probably says everything. Can't ask a robot and then they have to wait 20+ minutes for a waiter to come by.
