Stopped in yesterday for a late lunch with my husband and everything about the experience was top notch. The building has plenty of room and is clean and welcoming with very pretty and fun decor. The staff is super helpful, friendly and inviting and willing to answer questions and make suggestions. I had spring rolls and a small Hawaiian tofu and my husband had gyoza and a small hot and spicy chicken, we each chose steamed rice. The portions were fantastic and we were glad we ordered smalls as it was more than enough food for each of us especially with appetizers. We shared a soda as I don't drink much more than water and it was great too, perfectly balanced and refreshing. We were very impressed and loved our food and we'd highly recommend them. My husband follows a regular diet and I'm a vegetarian and there are so many options for both. If you're a vegetarian in this area you know it can be hard to find more than a dish or two at any given place but here you'll have several great options. We're looking forward to trying new dishes very soon. This is how a business and restaurant should be run and you won't be let down going there! read more

7/29/2018 I visited this place on the advice of Reddit... The chicken in the cashew chicken dish was fine--fairly tender and juicy, but I'm not a fan of dark sauce. I much prefer lighter cashew chicken sauces. A darker sauce suggests to me that there is more soy sauce in the mix than anything else, and I don't find the taste of dark cashew chicken sauces appealing. This is just a preference and I'm not going to brutalize this restaurant over the fact that their sauce is just not made to my taste. However... I couldn't be less impressed by their fried rice. It looked to be nothing more than rice cooked in soy sauce to a gooey consistency--no vegetables mixed in. Seems very little effort has been put into this food item. If you are expecting decent fried rice at this restaurant, you will be offended by what you get. Their crab rangoon wasn't bad, but I cannot fathom, for the life of me, why it won any kind of award (at Cashew Craze). As someone with a close family member who's worked behind the scenes in various Asian restaurants for decades, let me de-mystify this menu item for the uninitiated. It is literally nothing more than a wonton wrapper folded over a glob of cream cheese, and then fried (with most restaurants leaving out the crab meat nowadays). While some other restaurants attempt to add flair to their crab rangoon by folding creatively, Yum Yum Bowl decided to throw any attempt at ingenuity out the window, and they somehow won an award for it. Mind-blowing. After having visited this place based on the recommendation of some people on Reddit, I'm not sure I should be taking recommendations from Reddit. Also, not too sure about Cashew Craze and their awards. Overall, their chicken is okay, but in my opinion their fried rice fails to meet the baseline standard of quality amongst Asian restaurants in this area (and I would have given 3 stars if it had). The crab rangoon was okay. With no compelling reason to come back, I rate this experience 2 stars. read more

The was fine but the portions are so small. We ordered orange chicken combo for $9 and it was like a snack with very little chicken pieces. Also ordered the teriyaki steak bowl for $12 again 1 small bowl with noodles and very little meat and no sides or anything to go with it. Maybe 4-5 small pieces of meat. $28 with drinks for 2 people 1- teenager and 1- adult. And we were still hungry and had to go eat again at another place on the way home. The food is nothing special. Neither good not bad. However the prices are higher than the competition and the serving sizes are a joke. I ordered the medium and an order of crab puffs. The entree was maybe two-thirds the size of other place's small. The crab puffs were understuffed. It's fair, but not a very good value. read more

It was hit and miss. Hubs and I came here to try to find a new go to. The meat was well cooked but an unholy amount of sauce was on it. It was good sauce but still. Veggies weren't cooked and lukewarm, making me a bit worried about food safety. Hot and sour soup tasted good but was weirdly thick almost gelatin. Fried goods were pretty good, hot and fresh. Rice was luke warm. Honestly, not the worst, not the best. The big thing is that the prices online and in person were drastically different. 25 bucks for two is a not competitive pricing in Springfield where we could get much better for a lot less. read more

Experienced them for the first time on this day. First presentation of options was pleasantly organized and looked inviting. Chicken was Until the drive thru customer service person opened engaged us then she was short and rude and unhelpful after telling her we had never been there before. No suggestions were offered. Food was like warm as well as the sesame chicken had dolp and a half of sauce . I am still looking for my sesame seeds. My husbands food he was willing to throw the food away after spending almost twenty dollars to go get other food. I know Covid is a thing but . I've passed this place a million times but never thought twice. Finally decided to check it out. They have good prices and I would put the food among the best Chinese restaurants in Springfield. I had the General chicken combo and egg drop soup. The best thing about the combo is it comes with 1 egg roll, 1 crab Rangoon, rice , and your entree. Everything was hot and just cooked. Their general has a nice flavor unique from other places. The place was clean and they make sure to clean off dirty tables quickly even though there may not be a wait. The staff were all friendly and willing to meet your need. All and all this might be my new go to Chinese place. Yum Yum! read more

Decided to give this place a try after hearing my mother in law rave about it over and over. It was alright. It's not bad Chinese, but it's also not something I'd go out of my way to eat. I ordered the orange chicken. While the flavor wasn't bad, I actually did enjoy it, the chicken pieces were really tiny. I was disappointed in the chicken size but I really liked the breading because it wasn't soggy textured. I think I liked the eggroll the best to be honest, which says something because a lot of eggrolls in this town suck. I'll probably order again if I'm in the area. read more

Yuck Yuck Bowl. This place was terrible... I ordered a combo plate with the general chicken and fried rice. The general chicken was just fried chicken which then had a ridiculous amount of slightly average sauce poured over it. The chicken might be good if it was actually cooked in the sauce and had soaked up some of that flavor... but it turned into a textural nightmare and quickly got soggy with the amount of sauce poured in. The fried rice had a really weird taste to it... the only word which comes to mind is fermented. I'm not sure how rice could ferment or go sour, or what you could do to achieve that level of flavor, but needless to say I won't be going back to ask... or to try my luck again. read more

Went here for lunch, got the Hawaiian chicken, with noddles and egg drop soup, also added some crab puffs. Everything came quickly through the drive-thru and it was $10. Good food, cheap prices, and fast service is what you'll find at Yum Yum Bowl. I do want to preclude this by stating this is NOT Asian food. You could possibly get by calling it Asian Fusion, but that's about it. They have a few Korean, Hawaiian, Japanese, and Chinese inspired dishes, but this is not authentic. I actually planned on nothing here being authentic and thusly wasn't disappointed with my order. I ended up ordering the Kalbi beef and was extremely happy with the flavors. The kimchi was alright, although seemingly from a jar and not in-house. They did give me a lot of me, but I think I had way too much rice for the portion I ordered. This is a perfect little place to pick up lunch. I would most certainly come back when I'm in a rush for food and want something delicious and not your traditional fast-food fare. read more

This restaurant is my new favorite Asian food place! The Sesame Chicken combo plate is delicious. I always get that with fried rice and two egg rolls. The chicken is very tender, juicy, lightly breaded, and full of flavor. The sauce that goes with it is sweet and very flavorful. Absolutely nothing is greasy. Including the egg rolls. I sat at one of the high tables during lunch the other day and watched a cook in the kitchen hand cutting chicken breasts into pieces! So they do NOT get their chicken pre-cut, pre-breaded, and pre-fried like some of the other Chinese restaurants do. Everything is cooked fresh. Having lunch with some co-workers, they had the "General Chicken" and really loved their meal as well. I want to try their pork fried rice sometime also, but, the sesame chicken is so good, I just order that by default. :) The workers always greet me with a big smile and a Hello/Welcome. The cooks in the back are also very nice. I have had no issues with a shortage of napkins, food being slow, or something tasting bad, as other reviewers have stated. They've obviously made changes since 2010/2011, The dining room is always clean, and I always leave happy and full. If you are considering the Yum Yum Bowl, I suggest you go and try it for yourself!
