While walking by we saw the food was priced at 7.99, we enter the empty restaurant and the couple working was dismissive and rushing us. We pick our food and pay and it turns out to be 10.99-12.99. We wait extremely long to get our food even though the restaurant was empty and we witness the guy working being rude to someone who didn't speak clear English. The food was extremely salty and the portions were so small for the price we paid, and left me and my daughter with headaches and nausea, we had to throw the food away when we got home and we will never be coming back. A friend at work suggested the Asian grill for lunch, they are located in Hillsboro next to the DSW shoe place. It's in a busy strip mall. As you walk in you will find a counter with a selection of veggies, proteins and noodles,you can have them stir fried or you can select from the options within the various wall menus. I decided to try the Kong Pao chicken with veggies and chow mien noodles. The food was made as you order, it was hot and very good tasting. Plenty of chicken and noodles, love the sauce they use. I also really enjoyed the hot and sour soup, it was the right spice level. The serving portions were plenty, I took the rest home and had it for dinner! I was so happy to have tried this spot. I would recommend it. The interior is very dated but clean. Plenty of seating. The two folks that work here are very pleasant and attentive. A gem in the mix of many food options in this strip mall. My lady and I shared a 2 Entree, 1 Side Order (Beef (Sesame Beef) and Chicken Entree (Teriyaki Chicken) with half Fried Rice-half chow mein) with $2 for Extra Vegetables. The owner is sweet though - patiently ran through the options - Mongolian style grill or panda style make your own plate. Opted for their spicy fish that they make to order and some orange chicken. I said ok. sat down waited for order. so u can order food drinks but not pee? so I let it go. group people were shocked they wouldn't let me use bathroom. My teen and I have debated back and forth about this place for years. The kid always defaults to something familiar ( Thai or Panda Express). The reviews vary and we were never certain how good it would be. So we hadn't tried it until now. On this particular evening the teen was otherwise occupied and I figured out the place delivers. So I just ordered and the food showed up. No debate. Love that. So peaceful. I took a cue from other yelpers that the wokked items they make for you are better than the premade dishes. So I ordered one entree with beef, extra noodles, and lots of veggies (double broccoli, mushrooms, zucchini, carrots, and red bells -- note, the more you add the more it costs) and house sauce. For the teen I got chicken, terriyaki sauce, and the veggies/fruits the kid would eat ( baby corn, double broccoli, carrots and pineapple). Both noodle dishes were piping hot and the veggies were just right. Neither had a lot of protein. My house sauce was a tad bland. But it was pretty good and did not break the bank. There was sufficient broccoli but not tons.Maybe triple next time?? "Mom! The broccoli is perfect!" It kinda was. We got some krab rangoon that were just ok. Great value for $$. Went here to grab lunch one day as I was in the area and I was pleasantly surprised by their food options. The service took 10 mins for "Build you wok noodle bowl". You weigh the food and pay a flat price up to 16 oz and then more it'd it goes above the weight. One thing to note is, if you are choosing a protein from the kitchen, it does not get included in this weight. So you can go crazy till you hit the 16oz mark. I used to love watching Anthony Bourdain because he would always showcase incredible food at the most unassuming places. Either it was a small food stand in Vietnam or hole in the wall in Mexico, he had the ability to celebrate great food and the people who made it. For me Asian Kitchen Grill is that great hidden gem. From the surface it may feel simple, but this restaurant has so much to offer. It carries all the best qualities of your favorite teriyaki deli, Mongolian grill, and Panda Express. A medley of fast asian comfort. The menu carries a wide variety of foods. From all the American Chinese classics, grilled teriyaki, hot soups, and much much more. But what makes this place special is my favorite; the wok station. Just like any Mongolian grill, Asian Kitchen Grill offers a fresh bar of veggies, noodles and meats to create a stir fry that will leave you wondering how you could get such good food, at such a affordable price. The wok bowl isn't just a normal stir fry. There is a lot of technique shown here. The wok cooks at such a high heat, your able to build a smoky layer flavor in a short amount of time without over cooking your proteins. The wok simultaneously chars the veggies, while keeping the meat juicy and tender. At least once a week I found myself coming back to this place to get spicy kung pao beef wok bowl, hot and sour soup and crab cream cheese wontons. Did I mention you can get all that for about $11. But don't let the price fool you, Asian Kitchen Grill is making high quality delicious simple food. As good as their food is, the people making the food adds to the experience of me wanting to come back. The owners may not speak English very well, but the constant smiles an friendliness makes me feel at home. I remember a time when they gave me free spring rolls, because she didn't think I ordered enough food(I was on a diet haha). It's those small friendly gestures that turn this ordinary Asian restaurant, into your neighborhood spot. A place where you feel taken care of. Covid really hurt the restaurant industry hard. Wanted to leave another review for this place for a few reasons. 1) to the guy that picked up your order around 7:10pm today (4/29/2024) you really had to get aggressive over being asked to pay more for the extra sauce containers you wanted? Really!?! Can't fathom a small mom and pop run business trying to at the minimum cover their cost? Stuff isn't free and it's like you haven't heard of a thing called inflation. DO NOT get an attitude for something as basic as that, speaks volumes of your character. I'd LOVE to see you work in the restaurant industry, you wouldn't even last. 2) People, please be patient, do you know what it's like dealing with customers like that and having to juggle online orders, phone orders, and in-person orders? No, the vast majority of you will never know what that's like day after day. (Rude/perceived inconvenience customers) Your attitude shows how disconnected you are. So please GFY 3) I will ALWAYS defend mom and pop restaurant businesses when they deserve it. I was once literally in their spot before. The delicious food being served to you by this establishment is only by the owners themselves. I don't fault them for no other employees, employees in this industry cause problems and are expensive to have on payroll. Please please please be way more understanding of a immigrant mom and pop restaurant business. 4) Now onto the food. My favorites are their basil and jalapeño beef combo with fried rice. It's the at least in my opinion my favorite combo from there. I will say, their egg flower soup on a rainy day hits so perfectly. I could easily spend $100-$200 a month here if I could 5) from one restauranteur to another, keep at it, I know how much of a grind it is. These types of businesses consume you and so little people appreciate and understand the hard work that's required to keep going, especially in this high inflation situation. I'm a fan. After waiting in line for the Trader Joe's social distancing ride, I thought I'd treat myself to some lunch I could enjoy on a bench. I am a lover of all things Chinese food. Authentic, American, and express. I got the orange chicken and general tso with both rice and chow mein. I hate the ones that are merely a vehicle for getting rid of cabbage. Nice soft noodles and minimal cabbage. The orange chicken had good flavor and the kind of sticky consistency that you know is torturing some poor dishwasher in the back. If you enjoy stir fry, you should try this place. You select in a buffet style your type of noodles, vegetables and tell them what sauce you want and which protein (meat, shrimp or tofu) you want, if any. Then they cook it up in front of you. You pay by the pound. Awesome. read more

I like stopping here for a quick bite to eat when I'm on the Westside running errands. This place is owned by a sweet, older asian couple. The woman is always smiling and welcoming when I come in and the husband is working the woks in the back. I usually do the build your own noodle bowls. The price is determined based on the weight of your bowl after you put in your selected veggies and protein (they have tofu and vegetarian sauce available). This place is the only place I know of with green "veggie" noodles. Super tasty, and all for under $10! read more

Well, it's good to see the "random pricing is back". It's been a few years since I've been here, but I thought I'd give them a try again. The menu price was $8 + $2 drink. My bowl was clearly below the 16oz limit but when I got to the counter was told it was $11. Now looking at my credit card bill they actually charged $12.
