Food is so good, and fresh! Best Chinese I have had in years! Great atmosphere! Good service!

If you're looking for a great Chinese restaurant like the ones you enjoyed as a kid, look no further; this is it. The long version: This is a nice little restaurant serving up traditional (Americanized) Chinese cuisine. It has all the dishes you'd expect, like sweet and sour chicken, General Tso's, chow mein, etc. A choice of egg flour or hot and sour soup. Every time we've come here, the food is served hot and is flavorful with great ingredients. It's a step above the quality level of many Chinese restaurants in the area. Quality ingredients make all the difference. The service is always great, even when they're busy. They always seem to have plenty of doordash folks there too. It is clearly a popular place. The dining area is always neat and clean, and the atmosphere is pretty typical for this type of restaurant. It's a fantastic place to take the family. They can handle large groups there as well. Overall, this is an amazing place to go. One of our family favorites.

The food was great. Came out fast and hot and server was friendly. Price is very reasonable also. The interior is small but well kept. Definitely worth coming here.

Potstickers - these are your average pot stickers. They were good but nothing special.

Overall, I'd give this place a 3.5 stars if I could. The service was very friendly and attentive. As for the food, I'd say it was average for Chinese food. Not bad, but there is definitely a lot better out there. I ordered the General Tso Chicken with pork fried rice. For a cheap meal, it's not bad. Will I be back? Probably not.

The leftovers General Tso's Chicken. Pretty good actually.

Not bad! Looks sketching outside. Inside is actually not too shabby. The food tasted fresh and had lots of flavor. The server was friendly and was accommodating to the gluten free needs of my fellow diner . Overall. Really not bad.

Was very good for me but it gave my one year old the shits. I got the combo that came with a spring roll 2 fried shrimp and crab wonton as well as rice and noodles for $16 it was a good deal , plus they also gave me soup. My sister got the chicken curry and it was very good as well. They also have bubble tea and we got the pot stickers as appetizers and they were also very good. The place was pretty quite but it's clean.

Really good, solid chinese food. The egg foo young is some of the better we've had, and the fried rice is excellent, as is the bbq pork noodle soup. It is a little far away from where we live, but I think it is worth the drive. This probably be our new go-to chinese restaurant.

Super friendly service. Fresh food, delicious, and plenty of food. Not overly priced. We have been here several times and is just the right spot without a huge wait list. HGC is now a family favorite.

Sweet and sour chicken, cashew chicken, rice, tea. Reasonable and pretty tasty.

I walked in excited, but I can't say that I felt the same way walking out. Honestly, I was a bit disappointed with this self serve hot pot. Let me walk you through my experience. I walked into a nearly empty restaurant and was greeted promptly. I was excited to see that the place was clean, well decorated, and had a simple drink, appetizer, and broth menu on the TV screens. I mentioned to the host that it was our first time here and that we would need some instructions. He just pointed out that the bowls are here, get your ingredients there, and pay over there. I was expecting a warmer welcome than that, but oh well, I dismissed it since I'm aware of the structure and he was young. The ingredients were neatly placed in containers that were well maintained. They seemed to be kept up with the supply and demand. However, I can easily see the cross contamination between raw meats and vegetables because there weren't additional tongs available to keep the ingredients separated, except for the one tong I was holding. Since all the food will be cooked together, I guess it would be fine...? We walked back and forth multiple times around the ingredients, not because there were too many to choose from, but because there was not enough variety. I was hoping there would be more noodles or more Asian green veggies to pick from, instead of broccoli, lettuce, or cauliflower. I do not feel like there was anything exciting or unique about their ingredients for me to rave about. Once we were done adding ingredients to our bowl, we went up to the register to weigh our food. It was $14.99 per pound for the first 5 soup flavors which were Classic Ma La Tang, Beef Bone, Rich Tomato, Mushroom, and Spicy Szechuan Dry Mix, and $16.99 for the Hot and Spicy Szechuan Dry Pot. I picked my broth and paid, then sat down and waited for my meal. Food did not take long for them to bring out; however, my soup did not come out hot. Was I expecting it to be boiling hot? No. But hot enough for all my food to be cooked well so I don't get sick. If you want a comparison, if you have ever eaten pho at a restaurant, the soup is hot. Well, my soup at Big Hey Hot Pot was not as hot as the pho soup. One thing that I was happy about was the sauce bar. They had everything you can imagine, such as sesame sauce, soy sauce, spicy sauce, hoisin sauce, garlic, onion, chopped green onion, cilantro, and peanuts. This sauce bar was unlimited and did not count towards your weight. I went back multiple times to get more sauce. Overall, this was not as satisfying as I thought it would be. I wish I had better service, more variety of ingredients to pick from, and hotter soup. Plenty of parking. Cards accepted. I will not be back.

The aesthetic is bright and modern with table settings in shiny gold and futuristic hexagon ceiling lights. The dining spaces are large, big tables to accommodate large parties like ours and also cozy two and four tops. I'd give decor a solid 4. You grab a bowl and start piling on your favorite meats, seafood and veggies. Their selection is off the charts and looks fresh. What I would've loved to see was "how to make a perfect bowl if you're a meat lover, a seafood fanatic or a vegetarian" - something like this would be great so you can gauge how much of anything to put in your bowl. The entire process took a few minutes and then you decide tour broth and spice level. I like spicy and chose medium but it was S-P-I-C-Y!! Not too spicy that I couldn't eat it but it has some heat. My sister ordered mild and ended up returning her bowl to switch to NO SPICE, that was great that she had that option. There is also a sauce bar which I loved - I'm a food dipper so anyone who likes condiments will love this. The metal chopsticks were super slick and I'm Asian lol. I kept mine but at least 3 others switched to forks half way through their meal. The brass chopsticks looked lux but not functional. They did provide huge broth spoons which were great and looked fun. They should also provide bibs at the table as the broth is a potential stain master! Don't wear your favorite cream cashmere sweater to Big Hey!! My soup had a good flavor profile despite the heat. I should've put in more meats and veggies. Now I know!! None of us finished our soup, so we had large to go containers which meant 1 or 2 extra meals. Pricing was fair $150 for 8 of us with some sodas. They do serve entrees and bubble tea so if soup is not your thing, they offer other options as well. The staff was beyond friendly!

Their service is always fast and friendly. There is a gentleman in glasses that is always happy to serve and answer your questions. He is always happy to pack your food for you to go if you have leftovers as well, which is a lovely gesture. They have very cute decorations inside, from lucky cats with fortune cookies in their mouths, or a painted wall with a Panda cooking delicious food. I'd steer clear from their soup dishes, most of them lack flavor. I highly recommend their Chopped Pepper Fish and their Jade Tofu items though. Very flavorful and not very heavy! The smashed cucumber salad was super refreshing -- lots of garlic, crunchy, and exactly what you want after hours in the car. The green onion pancakes came out crispy and satisfying, but my favorite was the wood ear mushroom. They did something to it that made it insanely umami and savory, like a dish you keep thinking about later. The fried rice was solid and full of flavor, and you could tell the kitchen cared. The dining room was pretty empty when we went, so maybe it's newer or underrated, which feels unfair because the food deserves more people. Before coming, I did my homework and checked reviews on Chinese review website. The opinions were kinda extreme, some said it was terrible, others said it was amazing. Since it was only a 1 minute walk from my hotel and actually open on Thanksgiving, I went for it. I ordered jalapeño beef 小炒牛肉, veggie chow mein 蔬菜炒面, and string beans 干煸四季豆. The beef came out first, and the first bite surprised me. It didn't taste like the jalapeño beef from other Sichuan restaurants. It tasted exactly like Cantonese beef with gailan, but with green bell peppers instead. Instead of tingly spicy, it had a subtle sweetness. If you're Cantonese, you probably know exactly what I mean. The veggie chow mein was good and reminded me of late night street noodles in Guangzhou, and it also had a slightly sweet touch. The string beans were good too, and didn't have any sweetness. There was some savory minced pork in it. If you're not a strict vegetarian and don't mind a little meat in the dish as long as you only eat the veggie part, go for this one, it was flavorful. While having dinner, I overheard Cantonese in the kitchen between the chef and staff, and ahhh, that explains why I tasted the Cantonese flavor in my dishes! It also explains the two types of extreme reviews. So let me be honest, if you come here expecting the Sichuan/Hu'nan version of stir-fried beef with a strong spicy profile, you might be disappointed. But for me, it was honestly a lucky hit. I did see some Sichuan spicy dishes on the menu, but I didn't order them, so I can't say if they're authentic. But based on what I ordered tonight, I was happy with everything.

There wasn't a staff at the door, I think I would have appreciated someone coming to the front to check in with us about wait time estimations, but they only came to the front to tell us to put our name down after 20 minutes of us kinda waiting by the front. They took our order quickly, certain items they mentioned they were too busy to make, which was fine and understandable. So they'd recommend another dish in its place. The reason I mainly knocked a star is once we ordered, the appetizer came out quickly but no one ever really checked in on how we were doing, we didn't get a water refill or at least were unable to flag anyone down to do the quick bringing out of plates to other tables waiting and zooming back to the kitchen. We eventually got one of our entrees the honey walnut shrimp 15 min later, but no bowls of rice. We had to wait until our second entree came out 10 minutes later to get to enjoy our meal with the rice. I would've preferred if the rice was brought out earlier or at the same time, and trying to flag someone down for the rice was difficult. Eventually by 830 pm we got our last dish, the vegetables. Which would have been ideally eaten alongside our proteins. Wait times were very long, which would be overall fine if someone had communicated or checked back in. Food overall was fine. Honey walnut shrimp was more caramelized here, I think other spots tend to be more on the creamier side. Fish fillets were more breading than fish. Vegetables were fine overall, probably not the stunner last entree dish to finish off the night but overall fine. The appetizer beef tendon were good, it definitely has that numbing sensation with the peppercorns you find. Overall, for a Sunday night for dinner it was bustling, a lot of folks were waiting for items and I overheard other tables asking for things to just be cancelled due to the length of time it took. There's lots of tables and booths, it got fairly loud but nothing out of the ordinary of both restaurants.
