Pickup only no dine in service. Fabulous walk in service with a 20 minute wait food delivered to your car. Ordered Kang Pao Chicken; pork rice with fried egg roll. The main dish lacked flavor, definitely not authentic or hot. The fried rice was greasy and the egg roll inside was pasty and lacked content. I will give the food a solid 4-5 stars! but the location is not helping itself.... when you come in to get your food you are greeted with an wall air conditioner about waist high grabbing at your right arm. you encounter 3 tables set across the path only allowing you in about 5 feet. There are hot wheels taped to the back wall for an unknown reason. The booths and table are being used as storage for a variety of things... But i did find some great lights that had the look I was expecting. I get that we are in covid, but I would suggest cleaning it up really nice, setting a great impression so folks will come back and eat inside when this is over. I don't know if we are used to a different style of Mandarin; we are from out of state and decided to try here for an easy to-go meal that wasn't fast food. The wait wasn't bad. We didn't order online, so had to wait about 20 minutes. We ordered combination plates, but it all came in individual containers. They put all the containers in a big box, making it easier to carry. This was a little inconvenient for us because we were staying in a hotel. However, they gave us plates and utensils, upon request, but no napkins. The food was good. We didn't care for the noodles - but, again, this could be because we are used to a different style .. ?? .. They were clear noodles and really saucy, to where the container leaked. I felt like there were more sprouts in the noodles than noodle. Overall, though, the flavor was excellent! I have never had egg foo young and was happy it was so good! I'm not sure this will be a staple restaurant if we're ever back in town, but it wasn't bad. read more

I really enjoy their food. This is the only Chinese place that I buy from since it's still the best quality for the money this side of Beaverton. The quality is always good, and very consistent. Closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. They seem to be permanently locked into the "to-go only" mode since 2020 and are no longer set up for dine-in. But despite that, this is a really great to-go place for good Chinese-American takeout. The combination plates are still the best value as far as the amount of food for the money. The Chef's special dishes cost a few dollars more but they are a real treat - well made and very consistently excellent. For the chef's specialities I especially enjoy the Sesame beef and the Happy family reunion. If you compare the cost, portions and quality of the combination plates to Panda Express, the food here is better quality, the portions are larger and the cost is less. It's also notable that I make a 16 mile round trip just to order food here. Regular customer. read more

Very traditional Chinese food! I wasn't feeling good so I wanted to try their rice soup and it was perfect. Not too strong flavour but lots of meat and vegetables in it too. Beans was cooked just perfect and my friend enjoyed pork noodles as well. Their fortune cookies were homemade I believe and I even asked extra since I loved the taste!!!! When I first came to Forest Grove, working at Viasystems, many of my fellow employees spoke volumes about a little Chinese restaurant that had no internet presence aside from a handful of Yelp reviews that were a mixed bag and hard to tell the accurate consensus of normal patrons. The one thing that stood out to me was how the service was praised; charismatic, outgoing, funny, intelligent, and handsome were all used to describe Danny Chen, winner of Forest Grove's best waiter multiple times. I was intrigued and came on a quiet Monday afternoon with two guests to provide support if the food or service didn't live up to the hype. I sat in the second booth from the front door, boxed in by my guests, when out of the back saunters an incredibly handsome, charming, smart, and funny man who took my order and would later become my husband and the father of my children. The Yu Shing Eggplant was THAT good, folks! Fast forward a few years and I sit here, close to a food coma, pleasured not by the recipes I had taken advantage of over the last 4 years from my in-laws, but satisfied by new recipes. These new recipes differ just enough to allow the new chef to express his culinary artistry, but still look and taste close enough to my father in law's recipes to bring back warm memories. For anyone hesitant to try Mandarin China under new ownership, or for those that had an unsettling experience during the transition, I implore you to give them another try. Their food has always been good and the staff is very friendly. Their wait time is very fast as well.

No good. Service was great, but the food fell far short of what I've gotten in the past. Most of this is do to the general tsos chicken which had a bad flavor and odd meat. The last time I've had anything like it was in NYC Chinatown, so maybe it's going for something that I don't understand. Not sure if I'll be back. read more

We are new to Forest Grove and have this place a shot. The food was fast (we took it home) and overall looked good. The downside was the Beef & Broccoli and the Genera Tso Chicken. Neither tasted like... they're supposed too? Off? The Generals Chicken was super sticky and not saucy. Like baked on honey kind of a sauce. It wasn't bad, just not like any Generals we've ever had. Same issue with the Beef & Broccoli. Looked good but the taste was off... I can't put my finger on it. It wasn't off in an unsafe way, just a weird flavor recipe way. There are others Chinese restaurants in town with similar overall reviews, so we will be checking out those places the next time we want Chinese. I'm not sold that this is the best option. Best Chinese food I've eaten at virtually any price. We regularly (at least once every couple of months) call in a take-away order and feast at home. As prior reviewers have noted, don't be fooled by the shabby-looking exterior. There's REALLY GOOD eatin' in there! Very friendly service--SUPER nice family; you can really tell they care deeply for the place and put forth their best for their guests. If we've ever had to wait for our take-out order, they've offered us some tea for the wait. We live here in town, but even if we didn't I'd commute to eat here. The building is interesting it is a repurposed franchise building from the 70's Family owned they have a varied menu with generous portions, really you can split a lunch special with a friend no problem. The fry oil was clean and the order of egg rolls we got showed that no old oil taste. The spice level on the Kung pow dishes is a little mild so you might want to have them spice it up a little. The servers were very friendly. The food was not too good. Was very bland and tasteless. I had to add soy sauce to make things make things taste better. I would have also added salt but the shaker was completely empty except for the rice to keep the moisture out. The BBQ Pork was cold but tasty, the only thing that I enjoyed. I had the #7 which was the cashew chicken, sweet and sour pork, and pork fried rice. The cashew chicken was mainly celery. The sweet and sour pork was very chewy and not high quality pork. I work nearby and randomly decided to try this places based on reviews. I walked in at the prime hour of lunch at noon and there was not a single soul, but I was not discouraged. A younger girl greeted me and her mother I assumed took my order. I tried the veggie fried rice and veggie Lo Mein. Oh my gosh it was amazing. It was made cook to order and was fresh and very hot and there was SO MUCH FOOD!! Well worth the price. I highly recommend this place. Seriously. I had the lemon chicken with shrimp fried rice and beef broccoli it was one of the most delicious Chinese meals I've had in a while from the crispy chicken in the outside to the tender juicy inside. The lemon sauce was not to sweet or to sour it was just right! I recommend the combination #9! I went there for lunch at noon which is their posted open hours on Wednesday. I waited and waited and finally left 20 minutes latter. The hours are not posted on the restaurant anywhere so I checked online which indicated it was open for lunch at noon. I went back at 4:30 pm and told them about my wait and did not even receive an apology. I simple got a stare and what would you like to order. I left without ordering and will not return.
