Took the Max and bus to this location. We were seated and handed a menus! Looking at the menu I thought mmmmmm, if seen this menu before. Yep when the waiter returned I asked him if he worked at the "Tasty Corner'' by PSU, and he said I do part time. Same owners, same fantastic Szechuan style food. Decent spot for Chinese food in the Hillsboro/Beaverton area! We ordered the Chongqing hot chicken, maoxuewang, eggplant with garlic sauce, and the shredded pork. The Chongqing hot chicken was by far the best item we tried so nice and comforting. The maoxuewang was good but was lacking in the amount of pig intestine which was disappointing. We ordered from DoorDash and the Chinese food was much better than I was expecting. I actually loved all of it but my favorite was the crispy chicken and fried rice. I am definitely going to order again. The crispy chicken isn't spicy at all and flavored perfectly, the only thing is I think there was a little too much of the chili pieces in there which you almost got in every bite. The fried rice was so delicious I wanted to keep eating more. It was some of the better fried rice if had in the Portland area. Always looking for a good Szechuan restaurant but did not find it tonight. In fact, this place is a step down from Panda Express. We ordered egg drop soup, crispy noodle with chicken and something they refer to as Mandarin Crispy Chicken. The crispy noodle was a birds nest of noodles that requires you to mix with some chicken style soup mix. Not crispy and not much flavor. The Mandarin Crispy Chicken was not crispy and required us to pour a sauce over it which made the texture gummy, gross! The egg flower/drop soup was ok and kept this review from only getting 2 stars. In the past we have visited this restaurant. Food was ok. Then a few days ago we ordered take out. Sorry to say we will not be going back! The three main dishes were very Oily. We went here for dinner our first night in Portland, and I'm already planning a trip back specifically to come here. The stir fried snow pea leaves with garlic sauce were absolutely fantastic, and had me plotzing the whole weekend. We also got the green onion pancakes, the hot & spicy house made hand shaven noodles with tofu, the dried cooked string beans, Mandarin crispy chicken, and Dan Dan noodles. Everything was amazing, and everyone in our party left feeling full and happy. They definitely live up to their name of "Szechuan" and don't skimp on the dried red chili peppers, so make sure you order mild spice or less spicy dishes here because everything was hot! 3.5 stars. Some pretty interesting flavors. Orange chicken came with sauce on the side so it didn't get soggy, so I appreciate that! The sauce was more of a sweet and sour and they added oranges to the sauce. Wasn't bad just different, I was craving orange chicken or I would have ordered sweet n sour chicken. Salty pepper shrimp were pretty tasty and the lid was vented to keep their crispy texture. The beef and broccoli were ok, the meat had a super weird texture but the flavor was ok. Chow mein and fried rice were good. Our carry-out order was ready on time and everything was still piping hot when we got home. The parking lot is tiny and the restaurant is fairly big inside. It's literally a hidden gem of a Chinese restaurant, I've probably driven by it atleast 100 times and the many empty booths tell me lots of others are also not realizing what they're missing out on! Even for a weeknight dinner there were 3 tables in use at a given time, and only one server but zero wait time, and food came steaming hot very quickly after ordering. I appreciated the quiet, as baby could sleep in the stroller and we could focus on our food. Definitely beware of lots of peppercorn in the food, but that's a unique star of Szechuan cuisine! The kids is home from college, snd he suggested we visit this place. It has been a few years since we went, so I was down. We both ordered the hot and spicy handshaven noodles. He got the regular with chicken. I ordered mine "as spicy as you can get it" with pork. It was ready when we got there and still warm when we got home. He really liked his and finished every bite. We started with fried green beans that were good and then ordered Sesame Chicken, General Tso's, Mongolian Beef (?), Pork Chow Mein and white rice. The sauce for the chicken dishes was identical and the Pork Chow Mein only had oily noodles without bean sprouts. The food was fresh but the General Tso's used thigh meat with too much fat and gristle. The place is old and in the back of the shopping mall so do a map search to find it. The menus are old and dog eared worn around the edges. I would say too much oil used in cooking but it is better Chinese food than we can find in McMinnville. read more

I've ordered take out from here in the past (xiao long bao and potstickers) and loved it, but never found time to dine in and try their other dishes till recently. I came in on a Monday evening so service was pretty quick and it was pretty empty. I ordered xiao long bao, honey walnut shrimp and general tso chicken. Some of the chicken did have some spice which left a bit of a spicy after taste, but it was still enjoyable. As someone who loves honey walnut shrimp, Szechuan Garden had very good shrimp. Out of all three dishes (mongolian chicken, XLB, and the moo shu chicken) I was most impressed of the mongolian chicken. It was flavorful, not too spicy and had a huge portion size. (as did the other dishes) Overall, was most disappointed by the XLB.After biting into it, the dumpling wall would unravel, and the wrapping was incredibly thick. Their wasn't much soup at all in the dumpling and the meat was huge and chewy. I would not recommend this dish at all. Also, I would not recommend the egg flower soup. The consistency was more yolky than soup like. The moo shu chicken was OK. Nothing notable. The service was fast as there was not much customers at 7PM on a Sunday night. I don't typically comment on miscellaneous things but the floor was so sticky walking around, getting up to use the restroom. It's as if someone spilt soda everywhere. read more

As vanilla as store brand ice cream. I've had better stir fry during a road trip on the interstate in the middle of nowhere than this place. Zero "wok air", as oily as stir fry basil beef can get. Every general Tso's recipe is different... this one tasted like some expired Chun King branded sauce that had way too much vinegar, like it was a derivative of their sweet and sour sauce since they don't have an original recipe themselves... and I came in with the lowest of expectations. Panda Express would have been a smarter choice than this. I really hope the Szechuan place off Cornell/Bethany reopens again sooner than later.
