Had a private event for 20+ on a Saturday afternoon and it was great. The decor was nice and the space was very spacious. We had some of the best on the menu and everything was fresh. Definitely some new take on the classic recipes but nothing over the top that takes away from the original sweetness and freshness. Service was great but only speaking for a big party. I'm sooo disappointed in this place. After going there for many years this place has really changed. Their servers are terrible. Their signature rolls are now HALF THE SIZE of what they used to be. They have cut their portions on everything and they don't even give you rice with your meal. If you want rice you have to pay for it. Came here like 10 years ago and never came back, not because it was bad but maybe lacked luster idk. Anyway so my husband and I came for date night looking to give a new place a try. It was all redone inside. Our server, Meidy was so sweet. It looked like she was very busy but she somehow was very attentive! We started with a spicy tuna pizza. Have had it before at other sushi restaurants and their version did not disappoint. It had sundried tomatoes, olives, avocado, and jalapenos with fresh tuna and topped off with a spicy mayo sauce. We also had the steamed szechuan dumplings with a sesame peanut sauce YUM! I tried the chef's special roll with soft crab tempura, mango, avocado and was topped with spicy tuna with an aioli and eel sauce. My husband got the tiger roll and out of control roll. Came here for my sisters graduation lunch with the family ANDDDDD my amazing service dog. I must say Asian Moon welcomed us all, party of 8, plus Kilo, my service dog, with open arms! Although our waitress was slightly nervous with Kilo. (Hes a big dog). The service was on point for an early afternoon, didn't miss any items, remembered every drink and even offered up a bowl of water for kilo. Super friendly and even played with my brand new 4 month old niece. The food was very good. Large portions and everything was plated very nicely. Everything hot came put HOT, everything with a sauce was generous and anything else was made to fill someone up (i love that!!!). One of nicest restaurant interiors on Long Island, gives a rich sophisticated asian ambiance...it's like coming into a cool cave. The music choice is a mixture of cool jazz and sophistpop. Superb menu and drinks, start with a lychee martini or Sakitini, or an ice cold Sapporo in a lovely frosted mug (devil in the details!) DO NOT MISS the Vietnamese salad! Excellent! Shockingly this place was pretty yummy! We had the spring rolls (only 2 in one dish). They were good but definitely overpriced, they should give at least 4. We had the kani salad which was good, I hate when places put too much Mayo but this restaurant didn't so that was good. The seafood platter was very small and full of mushrooms and vegetables more than seafood so my boyfriend was a little disappointed. But the pieces that he did eat, he enjoyed every bite. The waitstaff is always tripping over themselves to fill up your water - here apparently they're carefree. Their Chinese dishes are what you'd expect. I used to go to the other location in Garden City but they are closed. So I have been here before but I never had the chance to review it. I decided to stop by for lunch one day. I started with an order of the fried dumplings with chicken. So delicious and crispy. Lots of flavor, and ask for a side of the house duck sauce to dip. That day they were offering a choice of soup or salad with an entree so I got wonton soup with extra scallions. Nice and hot and not too salty. I ordered the Szechuan peppercorn chicken with white rice. As good as I remember and I ate every bite. Veggies were cooked well and I love the sauce. Delicious as always! I went on a lil date with my grandfather tonight. The flavors are always perfect. The shrimp & chicken were crispy on the outside & perfectly cooked on the inside. The wonton soup from here is probably my favorite in the area. They are small however, but the broth is amazing as well. Poppop got Shrimp And Lobster Sauce (sorry no pic) with brown rice. He was disappointed that he has to de-shell the shrimp, especially because it comes out very hot, but by the time he was finished with doing that he enjoyed it very much. The only issue with my food is that the white rice was a little hard/cold. I must have gotten a bad scoop because they were quick to fix it and bring me a brand new bowl. We are always pleased and happy to eat here & if you haven't tried it, you must! It's nice and peaceful here with great food. They removed the sushi bar, but yes.. they do still serve sushi! They are doing very well keeping everything clean and practicing social distancing between tables & guests. They also offer delivery & pickup ordering. Our favorite place on Long Island to eat. We went for the Omakase twice so far and plan to come here monthly. As far as most Omakase places go they're pretty affordable. The Food is amazing, seriously delicious and different every time so dinner is always fun. The chef is incredible, you can tell the chef loves what he does, he explains everything enthusiastically makes you feel welcome and like a friend the whole dinner and creates a very fun and exciting experience. The food being amazing is a plus I would come just for how amazing of a person the chef is alone. From start to finish it's such a fun experience, amazing ambience too. I will keep coming back here. Everything and everyone there is absolutely amazing. Must try on Long Island, better than omakase I've had in the city. I always thought I didn't like sushi or fish or was a picky eater but since trying Asian Moon & their Omakase there isn't anything I won't eat or won't try from here. We ordered take out of the Crispy Duck and Chilean Sea Bass. We should have ordered a noodle dish and saved the money for what it cost as well as the disappointment in the food. The Crispy Duck was fair at best and over cooked but, the Chilean Sea Bass was a total disgrace. Two little pieces (and I mean little) looked more like Tilapia. The fish was way overcooked,dry and tasteless. I even arrived earlier than the pick up time so it wouldn't be sitting on the counter...it was. I ordered the fish with Mango Sauce it came with black bean sauce, they never mentioned that at the time of ordering that they didn't have mango sauce ( it is advertised with either Mango or Teriyaki sauce). Asian Moon used to be outstanding but they have gone down hill lately. I understand take out is never as good as dining in but the bill for these two " no frill" dishes was over $70.00. Yesterday, on Sunday evening at around 7:30 we visited Asian moon. The restaurant is pretty and inviting. Everything from the moment we walked in was perfect. The staff were courteous and considerate and everything was a five star experience. The wonton soup was great as was the hot and sour soup. The sushi was fantastic and, the pad Thai was excellent and the happy family was excellent. Everything came out hot and very tasty. The tea was fantastic, and even the sodas tasted great! My boyfriend & I do date nights 1 time a week and I always find myself coming to Asian moon at-least once a month. My most recent experience was fantastic but u forgot to write a review so I'm leaving it now. I will hopefully get the servers name the next visit. We went on a Friday night around 8pm, we were immediately greeted and seated. Our waitress was brand new and a bit nervous. But holy cow was she fantastic. She is what pushed me to leave a review. She checked in on us so often, ensured that we were enjoying our meals. Making sure we had napkins, water, any other drinks and were satisfied in general. She has wonderful energy to her. An absolute pleasure to speak to and genuinely wanted us to enjoy our experience. It was the best service I have ever received and I have been going there once a month for around 1.5 years now. I ended up tipping her $100 just to really make her day and to share gratitude for how wonderful she was. She made our experience worthwhile Now let me get into the place as a whole & talk about the food. They did some renovations and changed some of the interior up. It looked much nicer inside and I enjoyed the changes they made over time. The menus could be a bit better quality but everything is very easy to read. I have tried most of their menu items because I like to switch it up every visit but i always find myself going back to the sesame chicken & Pad Thai. Their starters are great too. I always order pork dumplings & rock shrimp. I have tried many of their sushi rolls and they quality is fantastic BUT I do agree with some other reviews that their prices can be a bit steep on certain menu items. That may drive away some people. I always spend $100+ when I'm there for two people. But overall, I am okay paying the price because I always enjoy my experience and the cuisine. Sorry to say this was a terrible experience and we won't be returning. True the decor is nice but there was an off odor permeating the air in there. The menu is confusing, there isn't any Chinese food options, it's all that crappy Asian fusion junk that seems to be the new norm for Asian on Long Island. We (against my better judgement) decided to try it out even though upon inspection of the menu I knew this wasn't going to be for us. The waitress seemed nice and tried to be helpful but she steered me towards the Maylasian curry with chicken when I told her I like Chinese curry chicken. What appeared from the kitchen was a mess of bland, mismatched ingredients that was one dimensional in color and taste that I couldn't even get down. I sent it back and asked to have it removed from my check. My wife had similar issues with the Pineapple fried rice with shrimp which was bland and the rice was mushy/sticky and later on made her sick. She was embarrassed to send it back at the restaurant so she took it home and threw it in the bin. We ordered a drink while we were there and that was also a disappointment as it came in a flute type glass filled with ice and was at best 4oz of liquid. I noticed there aren't any recent reviews of this place, it seems they went through a transformation and possibly new ownership in the recent past. We just wanted to find a great Chinese (non authentic) restaurant with fresh ingredients and vibrant colors and great tastes because like so many other Asian food places on Long Island our favorite places to enjoy that genre have gone Fusion or authentic also.
