Omakase in a hibachi restaurant?? YES!! A friend recommended this place and I have to admit I was a little nervous because I would not expect high quality sushi in a hibachi place. When I think of hibachi, I think of Benihana, which I feel is not really authentic Japanese but Americanized food. Kind of like Panda Express for Chinese food. But I trust this friend so we went with them. My wife and my wedding anniversary was coming up so we told them and they prepared a special setting with rose petals and also a special dessert. So nice!! Omakase means to leave it up to the chef on what to eat and the chef's selections were amazing! Lobster, sweet shrimp, Uni, A5 wagyu, fatty tuna and other delicious selections. We also had a sake they recommended, which went so well with the food. The complimentary dessert was probably my favorite. All in all, a great meal. We just had omakase at Inatome recently and if i had to pick the best, I would probably say Inatome but it is very close. Sasa is much easier to get to so if you don't want to drive to Valley Stream, go to Sasa. TIP: make sure you make reservations in advance because they have to procure the seafood for the omakase. read more

We brought my niece here thinking she'd enjoy the show, but she found her phone more engaging to watch. Some memorable moments included the flames to jumpstart the show and tossing the egg to break on the blade after twirling the knives around. We tried all their hibachi lunch combos with shrimp, scallops, salmon, chicken, Angus steaks, and filet mignon. We also ordered sashimi lunch and a peanut avocado roll, which my niece finished without leftovers. The meat and seafood was cooked tender to go well with the two sauces. However, the salmon was overcooked. It's hard to cook fish just right for it to be edible. Service was friendly, fast, and helpful. They spoke in Chinese to help my parents order. Came here late night on Saturday for Valentine's Day. It was very busy and we waited a bit after coming in. We sat at a hibachi table. We got to start a hot sake and Sapporo. Both pretty good. Then we had the sweet heart roll which came with a lot of spicy salmon and tuna. It was pretty good. Then it was time for hibachi. I ordered steak and scallop. The chef was good but I felt like the food portion was smaller compared to normal time. They cut a large chunk out of each steak, might be fat, but there is less meat than usual. Didn't look like all fat to me. Also one of the diners didn't want his veggies so when I said can I have his portion they rudely said "we don't do that" but proceeded to give me a little bit more later. Then when it came to the scallops I only got 4 pcs but I felt embarassed to ask for more because the chef looked annoyed. 4 pcs is not a lot you can see the other photos they got more. Anyways I understand it's a busy night but I felt like the service could have been a little bit smoother. Went here last night for Valentine's Day based off the high Yelp reviews. It's not our usual hibachi spot, but always like trying new places. The service was below average (but I find that to be the case at most hibachi spots). Ginger dressing for the salad was very watery. Entertainment from the chef was nothing special (missed Valentine's Day opportunity). I ordered the steak and scallops. The steak was alright, but the scallops had some shell on them still so that was where I stopped eating them. The veggies and noodles were lacking flavor. We went there before 3pm, the restaurant was open but we were told that they were closed for lunch, they asked what did we want, and we said lunch, they told us that we could order food to go. I said no and started to leave the restaurant, a young waitress said that we would we welcomed to eat there and to have a seat. From then on, the service was terrific. My family and I have been long time customers of Sasa. We have always enjoyed the food. Definitely sitting at the hibachi table the food tastes better than when you sit at a regular table. The issue we have had with Sasa has not been the food but the service. It declines every time we visit! The waitress Amy has a bad attitude and it seems we the customer are an inconvenience to her. Yesterday I went with my family and my brother in laws family. We were 13 people and they tried to only give us 1 hibachi table. After we told them we want two cooks they said ok but Amy's attitude was horrible. She took our order and when I asked her how many pork gyozas she has written down she responded "how ever many you told me" when she came out with the pork gyozas (8) in total she didn't even know where to put them. She didn't know who ordered what, she was just throwing them down on the table. When our cook came out Amy had a lot to say as she showed him the food order she had written down and he was making faces but of course we couldn't understand what she was saying. I wish I had a translator. The food was good except for our chicken, as it was undercooked. When the cook finally asked how was everything we told him we can't eat the chicken because it's not cooked all the way. He then took it off our plates and cooked it a little more. The issue was that the chicken was cute into big cubes so it was taking longer to cook. But he fixed it and I gave him a tip. The 18% gratuity was included in our bill, I didn't realize it till after we paid. I would have definitely told them to reduce it to 15% had I realized it. Amy didn't even deserve the 15% which was $76. When we finished eating I spoke to the manager and I told him all of the issues with Amy. I've had a previous issue with the same waitress when I visited Sasa with my family of 6. She does not represent the restaurant well at all! The manager didn't do anything to fix the issue and I don't know if I will be returning to support this restaurant although we love the food. Service is very important in the restaurant industry, it's unfortunate they don't take it serious here. read more

The management at this place are disgusting and the way they speak to customers is appalling. The last several times I've ordered takeout from this place they screwed the order up. Not once did they offer to comp the meal and just apologize and say sorry. Instead this last time they had the actual balls and audacity to blame me saying that I didn't enter in notes (which I absolutely and specifically did) with what I wanted and yet they still screwed the order up again, blamed uber eats, offered 0 compensation of any kind and flat out told me I never entered notes. They called me a liar and took no accountability at all for their constant screwups. I'm furious at the amount of money I have spent at this place over the years which has easily been over $5,000 on meals and I've never received even a single penny off of anything nor an apology. This place just blames customers and overcharges them on meals. Any restaurant that blames their customers and offers no apologies ever or any form of compensation like comping a meal that a customer waits an hour to get and then gets it and it's wrong. This restaurant doesn't give two shits as long as they get paid. I will never go back to this place again and I'm appalled at the way these people speak to a customer. Not only did the first woman on the phone not listen to what I was saying and then tell me I was lying, she puts the manager on the phone who also implied I was lying as well. This place disgusts me. I came here with a group for a celebratory dinner. We had a reservation, but to be honest you don't really need a reservation if you're not going to eat at the hibachi tables. The inside is trendy and the bathrooms are clean. The food was tasty. It's of the quality you would expect from a neighborhood Asian fusion restaurant- good, but not great. I had the salmon teriyaki dinner bento box and shrimp sashimi and I had more than enough food. I was not able to finish my dinner and packed the rest to go home. The shrimp sashimi was interesting- it was served with rice noodles instead of rice. The dinner bento box came with shumai (delicious), crunchy spicy tuna roll (fresh), shrimp and vegetable tempura (yum!), rice, and your entree + vegetables. It was a pretty good deal. We came here for Valentine's Day and made a reservation just in case it was busy. They had heart lollipops out at the front desk which was a nice touch. Thankfully when we got there, it wasn't packed but by the time we sat all hibachi tables were full! The seats were spread out and I didn't feel like we were sitting on top of each other. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Our hibachi chef was very entertaining and we really enjoyed our meal! The salad was good but literally SWIMMING in dressing. I get that some people love that dressing, but it was just too much for me. Next time, I'd just ask for that on the side. We asked that not that much butter be used in our meal, our chef definitely understood and towards the beginning of the meal prep was conscious of it, but when it got to the protein, literally no holds barred on that butter! I got the chicken and shrimp combo and the hubby got chicken and scallops. The shrimp were huge but the scallops were less than expected, a bit on the small side but not quite bay style. My little one got a shrimp tempura role and really enjoyed it! The meal was very tasty and the portions were decent. When you send the Soft Shell Crab back because it tastes fishy and they wouldn't take it off the bill and insist that you exchange for something else, that's a problem. My parents and I were the only ones in the restaurant, don't they value repeat business? Food was mostly mediocre. As I had already mentioned, the soft shell crab was bad, fishy and covered in way too much batter. Shrimp Tempura was slightly better, but still below average. Not comparing the sushi to some of the best omakase in the city, just judging it from a local sushi shop standpoint, it's decent. I'm so glad I found a place that was open during my bf's birthday in December since indoor dining was shut down in NYC. It was a little bit of a trek for us but totally worth it! I forgot which cocktails we got but both were really fruity and delicious - dangerously so. I finished it so quickly before realizing I already felt a bit tipsy. Appetizers are pretty unique and tasty. Sushi was extremely fresh and we were able to try a lot of delicious specialty dishes and that were fairly priced. The lovers sushi boat was such a great deal! So much variety and a pretty large serving for only two people. We were absolutely STUFFED afterwards but it was so delicious, we couldn't stop eating. Best Hibachi place I've been to! This is a hidden gem located in the Target parking lot on 110 next to Adventureland. I wouldn't have noticed this when I was driving and only heard about it because of the local moms group raves about "Sasa." The hibachi here is DELICIOUS. Prices are totally reasonable as well. I ordered the salmon and shrimp hibachi and it was fabulous. The fried rice was to die for. I probably figured out the secret ingredient is tons of sake but that's probably why it tastes so good. This spot has become one of my favorite sushi and hibachi restaurants in Suffolk. I remember how pleasantly surprised I was after the first time I came here. I was already planning on coming back again and again. Their sushi is really delicious. They nail the sashimi because they have fresh, quality fish. Their rolls also shine because of how unique they are. My favorites are the wagyu, fire phoenix, incredible, and fire island rolls. I have yet to try their omakase, but I've heard great things about it. The hibachi is also fantastic. I order the chicken and angus steak combo and the sauce is so tasty on the meat and the vegetables. The fried rice that also comes with the combo is so good I'd order it on its own. Had to try this restaurant due to a recommendation from someone who is an expert on Japanese food so we went on a Thursday night. I remember this place as being a giant dollar store way back when! Walking in, don't judge a book by its cover, the ambience is not impressive but the food is very good. The waitress was very nice and attentive, she brought us some hand towels to wash up a little bit before we ordered. I ordered the spring rolls, there was definitely enough for 3 people to share. The salad was small but very good, I loved the dressing. For dinner, I got a salmon skin hand roll which was one of the best I've ever had, 1piece tamago, and sweet potato roll. We also ordered a roll That had shrimp, banana(!) and was wrapped in soy paper which was giant and surprisingly good. Everyone really liked what they had, the portions were large but we stuffed everything in! For dessert we had fried bananas, I was already full but of course had room for that. It was a giant portion and the waitress brought us a rather large dish of ice cream to go with it. 3 of us could not finish it. On the way out, we looked at the other side of the restaurant which was hibachi. It looked nice, might possibly give it a try. The hostess told us that if we wanted hibachi on the weekends, to make sure to call for a reservation as they get very busy. I like to give credit where it's due. Sasa has definitely stepped up their game in terms of customer service. Deliveries have steadily improved in speed & accuracy and the nickel & dime games have ceased. Everything is now very easy to navigate and understand on their website. Food continues to be outstanding, and post pandemic we've had the opportunity to check out their hibachi tables which was a terrific experience even bringing a 1 year old. Super friendly chef at our table, staff made sure my son got whatever he needed. Bonus points for no upcharge when wifey requested noodles in lieu of the fried rice. Hibachi Show This spot is right in Farmingdale and near everything. It's a bit of a fancier looking inside and a lot of grill tops for cooking. It is a lot of fun and I will say the chefs here are better than other hibachi spots on Long Island. I got a crunchy spicy salmon sushi roll and hibachi filet mignon/scallops with the fried rice. I came to Sasa the other night for hibachi with my family for my brothers birthday, this was my second time here and it was just as great as the first experience. The Chef who went by the name Justin Beiber was hilarious. He had all the great hibachi chef tricks tossing the zucchini and keeping everyone well hydrated with the sake from his squirt bottle. He put on a great show and kept us very well entertained with his jokes and quips. The food was great as well and everything was cooked to order perfectly.
