Ube powder!
Angie R.

I have gone to Asian One Grocery a few times mostly to get Rice Noodle and Ube ice cream. This store has been here for years and close to my parents house and a Starbucks across the street. Each time I've gone inside there has always been fresh produce and abundance of goods. It is always clean inside and usually organized with sometimes boxes are in the way due to stocking. The owners or staff is very friendly and nice. I imagine this store is getting a lot of business due to the COVID crisis we are in as the last time I came in there was quite a few people inside stocking up on goods. They have a variety of ice creams which I like as the typical store in the Central Valley doesn't sell Ube, Taro, Red Bean, Green Tea or other ice creams. They sell bags of rice, seasonings, meats and other yummy snacks! I highly recommend this store if you want something different from commercial stores.

Great lil grocery store for all Asian cuisine needs. I normally get my chow mein noodles & lumpia wraps here. Every time I go there the staff are always pleasant. Nothin but positive experiences when I visit. 4starz

Employees were friendly and they had a decent selection for the store being on the smaller side.

During this pandemic I was shocked that cashier(adult male) checking out customers unmasked...unacceptable. Will never shop there again.

Although International Market is not impressive in size, as a specialty store you will be impressed…read morewith the wide range of essential Middle east, Indian and Mediterranean ingredients sold here at a great price. Therefore this place is perfect for the home chef looking to cook real authentic middle eastern and Mediterranean cuisine, because all the ingredients you need can be found here. It is also the only place where muslims could purchase 'Halal' meats in Fresno. Everything from exotic spices, saffron, basmati, grape leaves, garbanzo beans, cheeses, yoghurt, honey with comb, pasta vermicelli and so much more can be purchased from here. They also sell exotic drinks and cordials, plus for shisha/hookah enthusiast, you will find water pipes and other supplies necessary for your collection. My most surprising find was the holy water called zam-zam, I can't believe they even sell this here. There is a meat deli dedicated to selling 'halal' only meat sold at a premium price yet very affordable. Halal is like kosher for the jews, i.e: meat that has to be slaughtered in a certain way. Meats sold here includes: lamb, goat, beef and chicken. I have purchased meat here when I have muslim friends with strict dietary beliefs and the meat quality is really good and always fresh. Halal meat prices are $2.49++ per lb. I would call the if your price sensitive to check on daily prices. They have a whole aisle dedicated to spices, it almost feel like an exotic merchant of spices. Every spice, ground or whole that you will ever need for middle east, Indian or Mediterranean cooking can be seen here. Spices like: Turmeric, poppyseed, cumin, coriander, nutmeg, cardamom, sumac, caraway, aniseed, fenugreek, shawarma and so much more. They also sell fresh vegetables and fruits. Their option is very limited here, but almost all essential fresh ingredients for these the of specialty cooking, like mint and other herbs, pears, lemon, limes and plum can be found here. The store itself is not very big, but its well packed with inventory. This is also the best place for me to get pita/pocket bread, lavash and also the highest quality basmati or long grain rice. The grocery feels like a neighborhood store and the grocery clerk is really friendly and willing to always help you find anything you need.

There are so many grocery stores in Fresno that it is easy to get stuck in a rut and only go to the…read morebig box chain stores. But if you're looking for variety and are interested in some amazing deals, you have to check out Freshco. There are two locations in Fresno--one on Shields and Brawley, and the other near First and Olive. I went to the Shields location today for the first time. I arrived around 8am, an hour after the store opened. The parking lot was half full, and the shopping carts were still locked up. I didn't ask anyone to free one for me, and opted for a basket instead. What brought me in after all these years? A Facebook ad for a two day sale that involved chicken legs for $0.79/lb. That, and I love trying new places. The store is showing it's age a bit and had a bit of a smell similar to the old RN Market location on Cedar and Herndon (across the street from where it has relocated). That was the only negative that I could find. Besides that, this store is pretty amazing. When I check out new grocery stores, I look to see what inventory they carry, and how much they charge in comparison to other locations. Even with high gas prices, I'll absolutely make a round trip to visit several stores to get the best prices for the items on my list. This place had some amazing deals in produce, meat and dairy. Cotija and queso fresco was decently priced. Lunch meats were mixed. Produce was mostly on the low end of prices, and the department was nicely maintained. Aisles were crowded, but could fit a cart (if you have one), and everything had easily found prices. If you're buying anything in the middle of the store (shelf stable groceries), you may find the prices a bit high if you are buying items not on sale. If you're looking for ingredients for Mexican, Indian, Middle-Eastern, or Asian cooking--this place probably has it, and more. There was an entire end cap devoted to ghee, and a full aisle of cooking supplies. The pre-packaged meat section was minimal--with several packs of very large chicken legs, carne asada and various sausages. I picked up two packs of chicken legs for less than $4. Amazing! While there weren't many options of pre-packaged meats, there was a large butcher counter with an employee standing there waiting to help folks. I picked up some Three Ladies spring roll wrappers, some canary beans, dry lentils, giant radishes, and a few more things I didn't need but couldn't resist. Staff was very nice and helpful. The store was pretty empty when I arrived, but it quickly filled up. I suspect it gets pretty busy during peak grocery shopping hours. Please note that this place appears to advertise mostly on social media. There are some amazing deals. It is my understanding that this is a place that many restaurants go to pick up bulk items (they had 60 large AA eggs for about $3 today-first come first served, with a limit per customer). Watch the ads and check this place out..it is a great find that I wish I discovered years ago.
