Just ok. Nothing great here. Reasonable selection, but more fried foods than typical for Chinese buffet. Fried foods were overdone.

Lovely customer service with high quality buffet options, Asian Palace was super clean and very well-staffed. The only thing that I did not like was the limited variety of dishes--there are only about three rolls of hot plates with a Mongolian grill and small dessert station. There were also very limited sushi options and the seafood is non-existent. There is also no fresh fruit at the dessert station so just keep that in mind when looking at future dining options. With all that said, the chicken dishes were absolutely delicious and we really enjoyed the fried bananas and lo mein noodles. read more

I thought I would give this place another try. I Was Very DISAPPOINTED....The food was bland. I tried several different chicken choices. They all tasted like the chicken was not fresh and grisly. I've been to Asian Palace Buffet twice. The first time was a lunch visit, and the second was dinner. We like the Mongolian grill, where you can select your own proteins and veggies for the chef to cook. There's also a station for pho (dinner only), but the pho isn't that great. The buffet is extensive and decent quality, but I recommend visiting when it's busy. For our dinner visit on a Monday night, the restaurant was pretty empty and a lot of the food wasn't very hot and had dried out due to sitting out. The decor is modern and the restaurant is very clean. The service was friendly and attentive. You can also take food to go, priced by the pound. read more

I was on my way back to Richmond Tx from New Orleans. I checked Yelp and decided to try Asian Palace in Lafayette, LA. I wasn't too crowded and the food selection was extensive. However, some of the "Hot" foods were warm or cool. Not a good thing. The foods I had were very tasty, just not at a safe temperature. The waittress placed the bill in a small tray on my table. I waited for her to pick up the bill, as I had on card with it. I realized she was not coming back, so I went to the front counter and paid. I didn't go to the pho or mongolian grill station, as I was full. Maybe the food was not hot because I was there at a slow time (2:30). Still, should have been hot. Well, I was extremely hungry, and since I happened to be in Lafayette decided to check out one of the Asian Buffets. I saw that this one is completely brand new, considering that its pictures were only posted a few days ago, and didn't have any yelp reviews. Also, the pictures looked like it was a clean place. It is in fact a very clean place, a family run business, and as soon as you enter you're nicely greeted and asked if you're there for the buffet. Since almost everyone there goes for that, then you say what drink you want and are provided a fork and a napkin. No knife though which I found odd, but no biggie. I browsed the selections, and since I'm not a big fan of fried buffet items, I proceeded to go for the shrimp etoufee first with white rice. It was a bit watery but still good with a nice spicy kick and a good amount of shrimp. As a matter of fact I had 2 bowls. After that, I went for some sushi that had crabmeat, avocado, and shrimp spring rolls. Very good, although the selection could be broader, but I was extremely glad there was that yummy peanut sauce. Next, I gave in and had fried rice, noodles, pepper steak, and General Tso chicken. It was also fresh and definitely not old food (as in some buffets I've been to that are terrible). By the way, there are egg rolls, miso soup, Mongolian beef, egg drop soup, orange chicken, egg foo young, fried dumplings, etc., that all looked good to be honest, but I didn't try because I'm not too much into fried stuff. Finally, I had a couple of those little mini chocolate and vanilla cakes (nothing spectacular), coconut macaroons (this is good), and swirled ice cream. The grand total in cash including soda is $16.25 and plus a tip comes out to a cool $20. Will DEFINITELY be back, and is very worth it. Cleanliness is top notch, and they're friendly. read more

Ended up getting the vegetable fried rice, Orange chicken, grilled shrimp and wontons. The fried rice was really good, wontons were pretty good also. I found the chicken to be on the salty side. The service was really good and the prices were a bit more than you would expect for this type of place. If in the area again I may check this place out. read more

I paid $27 for a Togo buffet. Got home and almost all of it was to hard, old to eat. The appearance of fresh food being placed on the buffet was clearly just something precooked and kept warm to be placed out in small portions. read more

Have been there several times , had this issue before but not like last night.. every item my friend and I had from the buffet was cold (except one of the noodle dished was slightly warm)! it was bought to the attention of management...He said the buffet steamer was working just fine. I don't review places often, but this place absolutely deserves a review. They have some of the best Chinese food I have ever had in my life. I could tell that the oil they use to fry things is clean, and the non-fried items tasted incredibly fresh. We ordered pretty standard dishes that would generally be considered "Chinese-American" fare and the flavor was amazing. We tried the Orange Chicken, chicken fried rice, chicken lomein, crab rangoon, and chicken on a stick. These are things that are pretty basic things to order, but other places I've ordered from haven't tasted as clean, fresh, and well-seasoned as this. We ordered to go and the staff was very professional and friendly. The food came out quickly without much of a wait. The crab rangoon was one of the best I've ever had. It was flaky, had a ton of flavor, and a great proportion of filling to wonton ratio. Again, it was evident that the oil it was fried in was super clean due to the flavor of the crab and cream cheese coming through with the crispness of the wonton. Our friend who was sharing the meal with us also agreed that he'd never had such delicious crab rangoon before. The chicken lomein was also fantastic - it also tasted really fresh, with stir fried onions, carrots, celery, cabbage, etc. The veggies were perfectly crisp-tender and the whole thing was seasoned exceptionally well. Again, the freshness of the ingredients really shined through. Our kids even commented on how good the "noodles" were. The chicken on a stick was also great, the batter was crispy and the chicken was juicy and flavorful. The fried rice was also fantastic because they didn't skimp on the peas, carrots, onions, or eggs like some other places do. The ratio of veggies and eggs to rice was perfect. It was also full of chicken and absolutely delicious! The orange chicken - oh my goodness, it was the absolute best I have ever tasted! Again, the batter was crispy, well seasoned, and tasted like it had been cooked at the proper temperature in very clean oil. If a restaurant hasn't changed their oil in a while, it will definitely give the food an "off" flavor, so either this restaurant changes their oil really regularly or we got takeout on a night when they just changed it because I was blown away at how crispy and clean everything fried tasted. Not only was the orange chicken batter crispy and seasoned, but the sauce was everything! You could taste the orange, ginger, garlic, and chili peppers - it was so incredibly balanced. It was even visually appealing in the takeout container because it was served with slices of fresh orange and whole chili peppers. It was beautiful to look at and to eat. It wasn't too spicy for the kids, but was seasoned well enough for the adults to take notice and truly enjoy. Overall, we would recommend this place to all of our friends and family. This place has exceeded every expectation I have ever had for a casual Chinese restaurant, and we will definitely be going back (probably to dine-in next time). I almost don't want to leave this review because (selfishly) I don't want this place to get so popular that I'll have a long wait the next time we go. I'm ultimately leaving the review because I want people to experience this place for themselves so this restaurant will stay around for a long time so I can continue to go there and get such high-quality, delicious food at a decent price. I really wanted it to be good. Even after hating it on my first visit, I rationalized that it was new, and would surely improve. About a week or so passed and I returned. No difference. The service is fine, the place is clean and the parking is easy. There is just one issue. I have not found even one good dish. I'll try again, but am not hopeful at all. read more

Service was amazing, very kind and patient even though we were dining with my somewhat difficult and loud Autistic child... everything was very clean, bright, and roomy!
