My absolute favorite place in Lafayette! The buffet has so many options--crab, shrimp, sushi, frog legs, Mongolian beef--and it's always fresh. We really enjoyed our visit. The buffet area is twice as long as a usual buffet, the sushi area has a variety of fresh rolls and their grill area was so awesome to watch and they have tons of items to choose from to have grilled. The place was clean and the service was very friendly. Finally a clean bathroom at a Chinese restaurant! I have been to many places and I wouldn't dare go to the restroom in most. I need to wash my hands and entered their restroom and it was sparkling clean, fully stocked and everything worked! I really hope it stays this way. I have tried this place a few times, so I should have known better than to return. On their best day, a 3 star rating would be a big kindness. Today was not their best day. On a positive note, parking is ample and easy, and I was seated quickly at a clean table. The sushi was just plain bad...perhaps the worst I've had. The crabs had little meat, and the lack of small seafood forks made things worse. The fork I was given was plastic...I got no knife or spoon. The meats available at the grill station appeared to be of such low quality that I skipped them. The spare ribs were covered in smoky barbecue sauce and bore no resemblance to what you get in most...maybe all other...Chinese restaurants. I tried small quantities of 4-5 dishes. I ate very little and left feeling ill (literally...no joke). I will never return. read more

Second visit here and impressed as it is not your typical "hole in the wall chinese buffet". The sushi selection is huge and there is even seaweed and squid salads along with the nigiri, uramaki, and maki rolls. The salmon nigiri literally melts in your mouth the fish is so fresh! They also had the most common chinese takeout dishes, all of wish were very flavorful and fresh tasting! The egg drop soup could have used more egg and cornstarch to thicken it up however, which was a disappointment because everything else was so delicious. The only other negative thing I witnessed on my last visit was that the sushi would go and not get replaced with more sushi for over 10 minutes. There was 3 different rolls entirely out and others running low because the sushi chef starting making more sushi. All of this great food and service was less than $10 with tax which is mind blowing! I know Asian food in general is not that expensive but just the fresh sushi alone was well worth the price. Despite the two minor negatives I experienced in my latest visit here, I will still give it 5 stars because they offer better sushi and Chinese food than most Japanese and Chinese places in all of Lafayette! read more

But not maintained. 1/4 the choices 30 minutes later. Wide on dish selections, but low on flavor. I was excited on entry, and kinda meh at departure. This place is clean, food is fresh and options are many. This is a large buffet with the traditional Chinese buffet options but also a Mongolian grill, sushi bar, salad bar, chocolate fountain and others. We'll see how this place does over time. If it keeps its quality level, it should be a fine eatery for years. I particularly enjoyed the Mongolian grill. I also enjoyed the French Chicken and Shrimp, mushrooms, salmon, squid salad, fresh pineapple. Just a note: I don't know if the chocolate fountain recycles its chocolate, but we saw kids putting their food to dip on skewers with their hands and sticking the food in the chocolate. This doesn't seem sanitary as most kids stick their fingers in their mouths and don't wash their hands. I would suggest staying away from the chocolate fountain for this reason alone. Went eat Sunday at 6 pm they had already run out of 4 seafood items and still charged for dinner buffet my 10 yo who only eats crawfish or shrimp had nothing to eat but the seaweed on the sushi buffett and was charged for adult buffett so if u want dinner buffett get there before 6 cause this us the 3rd time this month they do this. Since covid this restaurant has went to complete shit ! They are so under staffed we had to bring our glasses twice to wait staff to get refills after he was choking cause waiter never refilled his glass. But what got me was at 6 it died down a little cause people left after they ran out of food which is typical here so the guy at the Mongolian grill started cleaning vents with a broom over the grill all the gunk was falling on the grill once he was finished HE NEVER WIPED THE GRILL OFF I cringed as an old couple brought their food to him and he threw it over the dirt and grilled up their food with vent dirt and served it right to them WTF is going on here I have no clue but totally unacceptable read more

My fiance' and I enjoy King Buffet very much. We have always gotten great food and service. The staff is always particularly nice. The exterior of the restaurant doesn't do the gorgeous interior any justice. The chandelier in the lobby looks like something you would find in an upscale restaurant. The entire place is always spotless which has to be hard because they are extremely busy every time we go. Now for the food. It is delicious and haven't eaten anything that wasn't delicious. Oddly enough my absolute favorite thing that they serve is the roast beef. I am not sure of the seasoning but it is the best roast beef I have ever eaten. I am a great cook but my roast beef doesn't come close to theirs. Another favorite is the jumbo shrimp that are fried with the shells on. Again I have no clue of the seasoning but I enjoy them a great deal. If you want great Asian food go to King Buffet. read more
