Every summer I pack up my car in Austin TX to meet my X whom brings my kids down from Kansas City…read moreand we meet roughly half way in Pauls Valley, OK. Needless to say, the timing can be off so on one occasion me and my kids decided to get some grub while waiting to meet their mother. This is how I came about dining at Green Tea Buffet. The restaurant is located a stones throw from I-35 in a safe part of town, in front of Walmart. It's a simple and small yet very clean facility with small accents of Chinese culture thrown in here and there making for a nice ambiance. While they do have a menu one can order from, my kids and I decided to hit the buffet so we can sample a lot of goodies. Just to note the staff here are extremely friendly and always have a smile, which is to say the only time I went everyone was nice. After we gave our drink order, my girls and I hit the buffet. Now I've been to many mega Chinese buffets and this is a scaled down version yet they have many of the popular dishes. Some of our favorite items were the delicious "chicken on a stick" which literally flakes away from the skewer, the mei fun which has rice vermicelli noodles with some veggies like bean sprouts and carrots, fried rice and lo mein. These were all extremely well prepared and the servers actually rotate the old items out aka FIFO at regular intervals and give a good cleaning while there. Other notable items that were tasty are the egg roll and fried spring rolls which I prefer, tender beef and broccoli, wantons, creamy crab Rangoon and the Chinese donut. While I didn't get the following items my kids did and they liked the fried chicken wings, sweet and sour chicken, General Tso's chicken and roast pork. If these are too heavy for you, they also have a fresh salad bar with normal "fixing's" along with pasta salad, fresh fruit and California rolls (please note eating sushi rolls that have been sitting out are never very good as the rice cools down to keep the protein cold, thus missing the point of sushi) as well as various sweets like puddings, cakes berries and something I despise that fruit salad with whipped cream; I'll never eat that anywhere, ever! Sorry too many times burned at Church functions. I honestly can't recall if they had an ice cream machine b/c if they did I would have eaten it! Even with my sorrow of dropping my kids off to not see them for another year or so, Green Tea Buffet offered a nice meal and time spent with my kids. The food is good, the people nice and the restaurant is safe and clean. I really had low expectations when I stopped by and left with a smile on my face while my energy levels dipped from digesting a good meal. If you're traveling and in the area with an itch for Chinese, stop on by!

It's a buffet..I'd argue the best buffet around! Not sure why the the poor reviews. The crab legs…read moreare always delicious and the prime rib is a major home run. Their fried chicken is seasoned and fried perfectly. Desserts are tasty. All around huge selection...they have something for everyone. Service is always great and the restaurant is clean! I was honestly concerned about trying this place out and skeptical about the quality of food that would be served after reading some of the existing reviews. Unfortunately I feel similarly about what many have already said. They take payment at the entrance and then take you to your table. The server brings and refills your soft drinks/tea/coffee (which are included in the price of the meal), and you grab a new plate each time you want to take a trip up to the buffet area like usual. The restaurant was definitely not occupied by many guests at all and it was during peak lunch hours. The atmosphere wasn't anything to write home about, and in fact a little dark and dim, making it somewhat sad. The buffet area is split into several different stations including salads and cold food items, soup, Asian, Italian, American, BBQ and meats, noodles, and dessert. Most of the areas were manned by an employee who would take your plate and fill it with whatever item you want. This is not a buffet where you help and serve yourself. While there is a decent variety of food offered, the quality of the items were very subpar, reminding me of buffet chains back in the day. The BBQ meats were dry and tough to chew through. The fried fish was overdone and barely flaky. The soups were bland and watery. Grilled and steamed vegetable items were undercooked and not very flavorful. You get the idea. The most memorable items I fairly enjoyed on my plate were mashed potatoes with gravy and fried tofu strips. Oh, and I noticed there were a lot of tiny mosquitos flying around The, especially hovering over the salad area. The dessert bar appeared to have a few sugar-free items good for those who have to be cautious or prefer a zero sugar option, and the regular desserts were A-OK. Cake slices were plated individually, ice cream sundaes are made to order, and cookies are put out so you can take it yourself. The sundae was actually pretty good and I was able to top it off with a few of my favorite things. The service was alright and our server kept our drinks filled and took dirty plates off the table in no time. The gratuity has already been paid with the meal upon entrance, so unless you want to tip more you can. All in all, it is not worth time or money unless you plan to stay at the casino to play for a long time and need something to keep your hunger pangs away, or if you're a member who has earned a free meal.

Unfortunately, our visit became very embarrassing due to how my wife was treated by staff. After being seated, we waited several minutes before our drink order was taken. During dinner, I briefly left for the gaming floor while my wife stayed behind to finish eating. A few minutes later, my wife called me upset because staff members were accusing her of not paying for her meal. When I returned, there were several employees surrounding my wife in front of the entire dining room. The hostess stated she did not recognize me, and the waiter, who had already served us multiple times, initially failed to remember us as well. My wife attempted to show proof of payment on her phone, but it would not load due to network issues. The waiter had also already removed the receipt from our table. After I reminded the waiter of our drink order and details from our service, he finally remembered us and confirmed we had paid. By that point, however, my wife had already been publicly embarrassed while numerous guests watched the situation unfold. We understand mistakes can happen, but the way this situation was handled was extremely unprofessional and humiliating. We hope this matter is addressed so future guests are not treated similarly.

Really enjoyed their prime rib and the variety of desserts they had. Our service was great, attentive and friendly. Ambiance is family friendly and not super loud. A lot of areas to eat but be prepared to wait at least an hr to two for the Thursday crab leg buffet.
