Had dinner at Asian Pho. Ordered orange chicken, veggies and noodles. The food here is amazing, service is good and the servings are plentiful. The restaurant is clean considering its in shared space with 7/11 and Wendy's.

Staff was friendly and very helpful, it was busy but not noisy inside the place, it is a convenient location since I was getting fuel and hadn't had lunch yet. I wasn't impressed by the orange chicken... didn't actually taste like orange to me at all really.... Chow mein was pretty bland to me as well.

Grilled pork egg roll vermicelli - number 50 on menu

Hands down best Vietnamese grilled meat in Reno. I can't comment on the pho because I only get their vermicelli - really love this place.

Greasy Broth from 15. Chicken Rice Noodles Soup
    Sarah S.

I ate here (to go, not in restaurant) for the first time today and it was TERRIBLE. I had the Chicken Pho (15. Chicken Rice Noodle Soup) and it was the WORST Pho broth I have ever had. First, I was barely given any bean sprouts (we're talking two, maybe three bites worth), which is ridiculous considering they are one of the least expensive ingredients in this dish. Secondly, and most importantly, the broth was absolutely disgusting!! It was basically badly flavored oil water that didn't taste anything like what pho broth (or any broth) should ever taste like. The layers of oil were so thick and excessive, that when I took a bite, my lips and mouth were completely coated with it. I could only get through a few bites before I gave up because it was, quite literally, like drinking vegatabe oil. The flavor itself was over seasoned with the wrong spices, and under seasoned with the right ones. In the third image I uploaded, it shows the massive amounts of seasoning separating from the oil and accumulating at the bottom. I eat Pho at least once a week and I like to try new places, but this was highly disappointing. I've not had any of their other dishes, so I can't judge the menu as a whole, but if it's anything like the dish I had, I do not recommend it.

Flame Broiled Pork and Imperial Rolls & Soda Lunch Special

Surprisingly good for being attached to a gas station. I got their lunch special to go (which is $13.25) and I got the flame broiled pork with imperial rolls. The portion was HUGE so I was definitely stoked about that. Their chili oil has some kick, so be warned lol The woman who took my order was also really nice. I would probably come back here. I wanna try their pho.

    Fresh Spring Roll

Being right around the corner from my office, I visit this spot for takeout every now and again around lunchtime. The food keeps me coming back, the language barrier makes things interesting. I have ordered several different pho combos with my favorite being the #9 with rare beef and brisket. I also get the fresh spring rolls. The broth is amazing and even in a to-go order is piping hot when I get it back to the office. A large is easily two days worth of lunches. They provide plenty of fresh lime, Thai basil, cilantro, and bean sprouts along with a large portion of noodles and meat. Chili paste and plum sauce are in little containers and included as well. The spring rolls are different than I've ever had with both shrimp and thinly sliced pork along with lettuce, rice noodles, and the chewy rice paper wrapper. The pork inside is not my favorite just because it is a bit dry and the texture overwhelms the other delicious things inside. They include peanut sauce which is always delicious, but it would be wonderful to add some fresh chopped peanut for an added crunch as well. Be sure to check your order when doing to-go. There is a language gap and things get mistaken from time to time. Or better yet order by the item number in the menu and there will be no issue. You don't leave a name, number, or anything after calling in an order. You just have to trust that they got it and it will be waiting after 10-15 minutes, which for me it always has been, but was definitely off-putting the first few times I ordered. They have reopened the dining tables so you can eat there again, but it's connected to the gas station next door so I don't know that I ever will. Lastly, prices are so incredibly reasonable. The food is good, cheap, and quick. What more can you ask of a take-out spot?

    Beef Chow Mein
    MaryEllen R.

Cute little place that shares a Wendy's and 7-11 gas station. Pho is a hit or miss, but their chow mein is really good with veggies that are never overcooked. I like the beef better than chicken. Orange chicken is cooked well and saucy. Service is good, no frills but attentive and consistent. Great quick lunch spot.

Ask the Community - Asian Pho

Do they serve Imperial rolls? The difference between Imperial rolls and egg rolls is the wrapper. Imperial rolls are wrapped in rice flour wrappers. Egg rolls (Chinese style) are wrapped in wheat flour wrappers. Both are deep fried.

Service was horrid, We were greeted, sat, orders taken, food arrived. Zero check ins after food showed up. Which is surprising because after a single bite of the chowmein, the rest sat there untouched. She looked at me and the plate multiple times and never came over to see if everything was okay. Chowmein was swimming in grease, and since when has combo chowmein had bell peppers, mushrooms, and cauliflower? Tell me you bought frozen vegetable medley, without telling me. The pho was mid at best, my husband asked for his pho with no vegetables, and when it arrived, had onions and cilantro all up on top of that thing. Crab rangoons were trash in and out. How this place has 4 stars on yelp and 4.5 on google really has me wondering if they are paying their friends and family for the positive reviews with one review stating "pho comparable to what you would get in Vietnam" $64 dollars worth of food left on the table, and the lady at the front has the nerve to say "Please consider tipping" MA'AM, for what? All the food is on the table uneaten. Here's your tip, DO BETTER. Will keep to our usual spot at Pho777 downtown. Our mistake for wanting to try something new. Lesson learned.

For what? 3-4 bites total taken between my wife and I on this grease ridden food? No thank you. Maybe perhaps instead of having your server mean mug my wife, son and I sitting at our table perhaps using actual customer service, coming up to the table after seeing the bowl of untouched pho and a plate full of untouched chow mein sitting on the table parallel to us, perhaps coming up asking us "is everything okay??" Nope. Treated like shadows like we didn't exist. Will more than likely be disputing the charge due to the whole "please consider tipping" comment. Please consider Doing Better

We ordered the Vermicelli with Grilled Chicken, Dry Fried Beef Chow Fun, and Gai Lan with Beef. The portions were generous, and the prices were reasonable. With "Hong Kong Diner" in the name, I was expecting authentic Cantonese stir-fries with good wok hei. Unfortunately, the Dry Fried Beef Chow Fun lacked that signature smoky flavor, and the texture was closer to lo fun than traditional chow fun. The Gai Lan with Beef also lacked wok hei. The outer layer of the gai lan stems had been peeled away, so the stems lost the crisp texture that makes gai lan so enjoyable. The Vermicelli with Grilled Chicken was overly tender and quite salty. It seemed to be marinated so heavily that I couldn't really taste the natural flavor of the chicken. Overall, the restaurant offers generous portions, reasonable prices, and friendly service. I just wish the Cantonese dishes had delivered the wok hei I was expecting from a place with "Hong Kong Diner" in its name. :)

So, check out the menu before a visit to make sure they have what you are looking for. Pros: Yummy appetizers, spring rolls, vermicelli bowls, pho (beef was especially good), and speciality drinks. Con: They really toasted the bread on the Bahn mi, on all times someone at our table has ordered it, it is a struggle to eat, especially for smaller mouths/ those in braces.
