Came here on a Monday early afternoon. The place is in a shopping center with tons of parking. Walked in and was given paper menus and ordered lunch portions of penang curry and general tso's. It was a bit slow getting the food (we weren't in a huge hurry) and it came super hot to the table. Overall it was what I'd expect for a quick serve Asian restaurant, it was ok but not fantastic. Great little place!! I had the sesame chicken combo. The chicken was crunchy and tasty!! Really a nice sauce, a little sweeter than I usually get. My husband got the Hunan Delight. It is beautiful and a huge portion! He said it was great! My son got sweet and sour chicken with general Tso sauce. Heloved his meal too. Not impressed at all! General tso chicken hardly contained any chicken just breading. Shrimp fried rice was strong and rice was very dark which lead me to believe it was old not fresh. Crab wonton were just not good. Not even worth it if your craving Chinese. This is sad because when they first opened everything was really good. read more

Really good vegan options in Youngwood! I got the panang curry and my partner got General Tso's tofu. The tofu was wonderfully crispy and the panang curry was perfectly seasoned. Also pretty affordable! Plus, they gave us a calendar for the new year and it's really cute. read more

Food is good but portions are much smaller than other takeout places. They actually know how to make things spicy when requested which is a huge plus. The owners are friendly and their boys help keep the place clean. The prices are good for lunch but with smaller portions the dinners are a bit pricey. Everything we have tried is good but not exceptional. I enjoy very spicy Schezuan Chicken and they deliver on the spice. It's prepared fast and is nice for a quick fix. I've been there three times. I've only gotten the Hot and Spicy Lo Mein and curry chicken. The hot and spicy lo mein has been really good all three times. Hot and fresh. Done in a timely manner when they said it would be. Nice portions for the price and tasted good. Little bit of spice but not too much. I didn't like the curry as much but it was still ok. First it is great that another small business has entered into the Youngwood scene of thriving small businesses making it's way back with the grocery store in town. Second, the owners of this establishment are very hard working, professional, clean etc. I believe the review from Fu Z. was directed from another local Asian restaurant not to far away whose business is suffering and on the decline due to the success of Asian Star. I could be wrong though, most likely not. The portions are plentiful and the prices are reasonable. Although the owners English is not completely perfect, they are understandable, and not once of many times ordering take out or dining in have I experienced something being wrong due to miscommunication. The thai fusion is an excellent additive for an Asian restaurant, but delivery service would be the icing on the cake for this place, also would contribute additional business. I have had the lo meins, the soups, appetizers (ribs not recommended though), items from the thai fusion section, etc. a wide variety of items all cooked thoroughly, the portions plentiful, and the pick up on time and as accurate for only two-three people taking orders over the phone at tables, cooking, and prepping. I am overall impressed, and will continue to be back for more. Asian Star is one of the best local Asian cuisine without venturing into Greensburg. read more

One of the only restaurants around that serves pad thai!! Everything I've ever had from here has been amazing and beats out a lot of the other Asian restaurants in the area. If you like spicy, this is the place for you! I recommend the red sauce wontons, spicy lo mein, and obviously the aforementioned pad thai! read more

I had general tso chicken and my wife had chicken fried rice. My GT chicken wasn't bad but my wife's Chicken Fried rice included some very rubbery chicken. At first we thought it was undercooked but it was white all the way through, rubbery in texture and had no flavor. This was our first visit to the newest eatery in our town. We will likely give it one more try but we like what we like and if they don't get it that way, we will move on. Friendly, fast and the place seemed quite clean. But it's new and it should be clean! I am somewhat of a regular at this restaurant since I work nearby. The food here in general is pretty good. The fried rice is not great in comparison to other local Chinese restaurants. They need to step that up. The service used to be so-so but they are a lot faster now. The lady at the front is awesome and her kids are nice. Sometimes the chef will come out too, and he seems nice. There is not much in the way of authentic Chinese food, or Thai. I wish they had 5-10 legitimately Asian dishes, since the food at legitimate Asian restaurants is more flavorful and less fattening in my opinion. The Penang Curry is probably the most authentic thing they make, and it's pretty good. I like to support this restaurant because they are the only Asian restaurant in Youngwood. There are a couple more in the area. It used to be worth the drive to go to the other ones, but they're getting a lot better here so I usually go here now. It's not quite at the level of driving out of my way for. This place is not going to blow you away. But if you go to the community college or work in the area, it is one of the best lunch options. I think they could still use to tune up their recipes a little bit and add a few more options, but other than that they are pretty great for Youngwood. read more

Not perfect, but try to be. When they made mistake once, acknowledged it and made it right. Can't ask for anything more. Family run, everything good. Not that much into Thai dishes, but basil chicken was great, curry dishes good but not overpowering, even classic General Tso hits the spot. The food really sucks.when u call to place an order the kids answer and the mess it up and when u say something the don't care at all

This place was awful. I should have known when there was only one other person in there, but I thought, maybe it's just a slow day. I ordered Pad Thai, it was really bad. A very weird flavor, inexplicably bad. My son got chicken on a stick, which was dried out chicken jerky. He also got spare ribs which were tough & seemed like old reheated food. We told the waitress we didn't like the food, she could not have cared less & gave us our full bill after taking away our full plates. I ordered my food from this place, I ordered it for take out... I usually order from Szechuan garden in greensburg, but as it is near the Westmoreland mall, and the Black Friday madness, I chose to go to Youngwood Asian star... I'm not a big vegetable fan, so I always order my food without. I ordered sesame chicken... the man taking my order repeated it back to me . So, my wife picked the order up, the sesame chicken arrived at my home with broccoli! So I politely called the Restaurant back and told them of the mistake. They said sorry, it is just a few pieces of broccoli, just a garnish, it was not!! Half the meal was broccoli. She said " well what do you want me to do about it?" I said" well what would you do if you paid for something you didn't order?" She said " I give you 2 dollar off" I said "if I sat Down at your restaurant, ate my meal and paid for it in half Canadian money would that be all right?" I told her my family works hard for their money, I'm sure your family does also. I cannot afford to pay for food that I will not eat. Just a principle thing. read more

We always get takeout from Asian Star. It's a small family business and the owners are very friendly. The portions are generous and we've been enjoying their food for a few years. I especially like the Pad Thai and my husband loves the General Tso's Chicken. Good prices too! read more
